"What is with you and Bruce?"

"I kind of like him." Grace crinkles her nose. "I kind of like the macho types, but you have to be careful they don't become abusive. I've already gotten to know Dyson a bit but that was the first chance to get to know Bruce. He has this quiet macho thing going on. It may be the big muscles and tattoos. He's interesting, don't you think?"

"He's nice but kind of slow."

Grace nods. "As long as he isn't 'kind of' yours that could be fun, at least more fun trying to replace Bo with Dyson. Besides, Dyson is too old for me."

"It's funny, but I don't think of you that way. Wait, Dyson is too old?"

"Well, he is twice my age, but what I meant is that he's too old fashioned." Grace grins. "I'm going to try to get Lauren to let me examine him though…. strictly for science of course."

"Oh, of course." Kenzi says somewhere between shocked and amused.

"What is it like to be claimed?"

"What are you thinking about? By who?"

"I'm just curious. Bruce."

"Bruce is dark. If he claimed you, you would not be allowed to work with Lauren."

"I don't think that would be good. Perhaps I'll have to reconsider Dyson."

"Why are you thinking about being claimed at all?"

"I don't want to get Bo in trouble."

"If you were claimed by a fae, you can't get out of it unless they release you and most of them won't. You would be their slave. Please don't do such a thing."

"I won't." Grace moves Kenzi's covers again and cups her face gently and starts to head for the couch where she sleeps.

"Grace? Would you prefer it if we set something up here for you to sleep here? I've got plenty of space even if it does get cold up here."

"That sounds lovely." Grace says and she begins to take her outer clothes off.

"What are you doing?" Kenzi says in a panic.

"Getting ready for bed." Grace says in confusion.

"Whoa, whoa, I'm not into that. I only like men."

"So do I." Grace responds still confused. Kenzi is still shocked that Grace's intent was apparently to slip under the covers with her. Grace rebuttons. "I'm sorry. It used to be common for people to share beds just to sleep. There just weren't enough beds to go around. When traveling, it wasn't uncommon to sleep with perfect strangers at an inn." Grace begins to move toward the stairs leading down from the attic.

"Get back here." Kenzi says realizing how much Grace likely feels isolated and vulnerable sleeping on an uncomfortable couch near the front door. Kenzi slides over to the extreme far edge of her bed. "For tonight, but tomorrow we get something for you and work out some roommate codes." Kenzi turns her back to Grace and tries to ignore the shifting of the bed as Grace slides in.

"Good night" Grace says staying on her side of the bed. Kenzi lies awake but soon senses from Grace's breathing that she's sound asleep. Kenzi eventually drifts off to sleep.

In the morning Kenzi is awakened by Bo calling "Kenzi! Grace is missing!" To Kenzi's horror Bo actually comes into her attic room. Seeing Kenzi is not alone, Bo stops and averts her gaze "Sorry, I didn't know you weren't alone. Grace is missing. She doesn't normally go off without saying something." Bo notices Grace's clothes hung over a chair and goes over to take a closer look very puzzled. "Kenzi?" Bo says as she lifts Grace's dress from the chair.

"Everything is fine. Just go back downstairs." Kenzi says softly praying Grace doesn't wake up because there was no way to know what Grace may say.

To Kenzi's horror, Grace does wake up, and she rolls over to face Bo. "Good morning Bo." She says as she stretches. Kenzi slides as far down under the covers as she can.

Bo grins. "You two? I never saw it coming…." Bo giggles a bit.

Grace is confused for a moment and then she becomes annoyed. "You haven't and you won't. Kenzi was kind enough to allow me to sleep here, but that is all it was. It was good to sleep in an actual bed for the first time in months." Grace gets up, takes her dress from Bo and puts it on. Normally Bo would be excited by seeing Grace in her underwear but instead she feels like she's been called to the Principal's office. Grace goes downstairs.

Bo waits for Kenzi's head to reappear from under the covers. "Sorry" Bo says before turning toward the stairs where she already hears Grace preparing breakfast.

"Bo." Kenzi calls out. "Grace mentioned getting claimed by a fae. I think it because she's worried she doesn't belong here."

"You talked her out of that didn't you?" Bo asks.

"I warned her. But I think she's lonely."

"We're her friends."

"Lauren is usually busy with stuff that Grace can't be involved with, when Lauren has free time you two are off by yourselves, Adam and I are training a lot, and she ends up alone reading files and acting like our maid. She needs." Bo ponders what Kenzi has said and as much as she resists, there is truth in her words.

"I've offered to let her examine me." Bo says.

Kenzi shakes her head. "That might be helpful if she was into girls sugar crotch, but unless you come down with some fascinating fae disease that isn't going to take up much of her time or make her feel like she belongs with us. And what is with you thinking she and I were doing… whatever you and Lauren do? People used to share beds just to sleep you know."

"So you two didn't even take turns with Gerald?"

"No! And EEEEW! And you need to get your sex aura detector checked. And I don't feed on sex chi." Kenzi sniffs the air. "I feed on waffles and syrup….now with butter." Kenzi is quickly out of bed, dressed and headed for breakfast.

Bo stays for a moment. "I'll bet they all wonder why her sword is named Geraldine when clearly a sword is masculine. What they don't know is that Gerald was already here… harrumph." Bo smiles and heads downstairs.

When Bo arrives downstairs she finds Kenzi eating her waffles with lots of syrup. "Grace, I'm sorry if it is something I should not mention, but I'm concerned. To be claimed by a fae is probably not a good thing to volunteer for. Why would you want do be claimed?"

"I'd like to stay and learn more about the fae, but I don't want to be a burden to you."

"You are no burden."

"I understand that humans can't be here unless they are claimed and that you having two might be a problem."

"That is true. If anyone complains, I'll claim you and I'll release you whenever you want. If any fae complains about there being two of you, they'll deal with me. You are a good friend."

"Thank you." Grace says.

Kenzi and Grace look to the door and Bo realizes they likely sense the approach of another immortal. Kenzi goes to the door with her new sword and wedges her foot at the bottom while she listens. She relaxes and lowers her sword as she unlocks it and lets Adam in. Adam arrives carrying two packages. He gives the smaller one to Bo "I believe this is yours." He says. "This one should be yours." He adds as he gives the larger one to Kenzi. Grace watches smiling. Bo opens her package to find her repaired and cleaned kimono.

Kenzi puts hers on the couch and opens it. She withdraws a black jacket longer than she would normally wear, but it has the extra buttons and features she favors for her 'Goth' look. She is confused, but Adam and Grace smile warmly toward her. "I don't get it, but thanks." Kenzi says.

"Try it on." Adam asks.

Adam walks over to where Kenzi has propped her new sword, retrieves it, he pulls open the left side of the coat and slips her sword neatly into sheath built into the coat. He closes the coat and looks to Grace "What do you think?" he asks.

"Very stylish, and if I didn't know, I would not notice it was there." Grace answers.

"Kenzi, you can get away with carrying openly in this town but not everywhere. But more importantly, drawing from your back is too slow. This has been made so you can slide it out to the side. We're going to work on your draw this morning. Later we'll take a walk so that you can learn to move without revealing that you are armed. You're going to learn to evade and avoid fights. What did I tell you?"

"Avoiding a fight is often better than winning." Kenzi repeats her lesson.

Adam opens the left side of his coat revealing his weapon. He pauses as Kenzi mirrors him. He grasps the hilt, Kenzi follows, and with a quick move he pulls the sword upwards and sideways and drops his feet into a fighting stance. Kenzi duplicates his move, shocked to find how quickly she has gone from normal dress to the 'ready' position. Bo grins broadly.

"To put it back, you need to come in from the top." Adam demonstrates the move which Kenzi duplicates. Looking back to Bo and Grace, he says "She's a natural." Kenzi tries the moves several more times as Adam gets some coffee.

Grace looks to Bo "We had it made for her. There is no sense having a sword you can't draw in time." Bo nods thinking of her knife she wears flapping around on a belt making it difficult to draw.
