I know it's been a long time since I updated A Wedding in Tree Hill but I've recently started writing again and I decided to give this one a proper ending... So this is the first of two chapters I am adding to this story... :-)

Enjoy! And always please read and review.

Chapter 12:

Lucas drove home, he lightly taped his chest pocket and felt the square ring box. 'I think Brooke is going to love this,' he pulled into the driveway and headed to the front door. "Brooke?" He called out, 'good she isn't home,' he ran to the bedroom and hid the ring in his sock drawer.

"Lucas, what are you doing in here?" Brooke said from the doorway, "I was calling your name, what are you thinking about?"

"Nothing pretty girl." Lucas kissed her forehead, "Nothing at all. So where do you want to go for dinner tonight?"

Brooke kinked her eyebrow at Lucas, "what are you up to Lucas Scott?"

"Nothing pretty girl." Lucas pulled her out of the bedroom, "let's get out of here before I have my way with you."

Brooke giggled, "That wouldn't be so bad. I only came home to grab my sketches. What are you doing the rest of the day."

"I think first things first, I'm going to take a nap." Lucas yawned, "The tour took a lot out of me."

"Piss on your book tour." Brooke grabbed her purse and went out the front door, "I love you, see you tonight." Lucas sat down on the couch and started to think of the perfect way to propose to Brooke, he was pulled from his thoughts by the door slamming, "Wind caught it sorry, I forgot something."

Lucas laughed, "What did you forget." He leaned over the couch and Brooke kissed him.

"I forgot my boyfriend." She said taking her phone off the charger, "It's getting pretty serious you should watch out."

Brooke had been distracted all day, she heard the door to Clothes Over Bros open, "P. Sawyer what do I owe this visit?"

"Jake has the kids so I'm taking a mommy break. Want to get lunch?" Peyton said.

"Yes, I'm starving. I went home and instead of eating I ran into Lucas..."

Peyton cut her off, "LaLaLa.. I don't wanna hear about your afternoon delight with Luke."

"No it wasn't like that, he was acting weird." Brooke replied, a little lost in her own head, "He's been strange since he came home. You don't think he's having an affair do you?"

Peyton laughed till she saw Brooke's face, "Wait, you were being serious?"

Brooke nodded as she threw herself down on a dressing chair, "Peyton things have been so great lately, I don't know what I would do if Lucas wanted to break up."

Peyton pulled Brooke up and put her hands on Brooke's shoulders, "Have you been huffing markers again? Lucas loves you. Maybe he's thinking about his next book... Or you know a question he needs to ask."

Brooke stopped whining, "What are you talking about Peyton?"

Peyton shrugged, "I just wanted you to take a minute and think about all the other things that could be pre-occupying Lucas. I'm sure the reason behind the distance is a good one, not a mistress." She pulled Brooke in for a hug, "Now come on you're getting too skinny. If you become the one with the boney ass where does that leave me?"

Brooke laughed, "Do you want to go to Karen's?"

"Yes," Peyton looked at her watch, "Jake said take as long as I needed, but lets be real here, I left him with our 18-month olds... They are going to eat him alive, so I probably shouldn't be gone longer than an hour, maybe two." Brooke hugged Peyton as the locked up Clothes Over Bros for lunch.

*Flashback*

"P. Sawyer I need you to breathe, stress isn't good for my niece and nephew." Brooke said with thread in her mouth, "Don't move, it was just a popped seam."

Haley came in, "How's it going? I told Nathan and Lucas to start keeping everyone entertained."

Brooke pulled scissors out of her bag, "Almost done, one more stitch should do it." She cut the stray threads, "There," She stood up and started fanning her eyes.

Haley came up beside her and hugged her, "You look gorgeous Peyton."

Peyton turned around in her floor length wedding gown, it was empire waist to accommodate the growing bump Brooke had assured her wouldn't compromise Peyton's dream dress. "B what would I do without you?"

Haley frowned, "I had duct tape." The girls all laughed.

"Come on P. Sawyer it's time to make you P. Jagileski." Brooke grabbed the back of dress and Haley followed with the flower bouquets.

The giggling women lined up outside the double doors leading to the church. Haley went first, Brooke got in line then snapped her fingers and closed the doors, "I forgot something."

Peyton and Larry looked at her, "Can't it wait Brooke?" Larry asked.

"No, sorry it can't." She opened her purse, "P. Sawyer, the dress is your something new, the lace on the bodice came from your mother's wedding gown so that works as your something old. You're wedding panties have blue embroidery on them," She looked at Larry, "Sorry Mr. Sawyer for the visual." She turned back to Peyton, "Only thing missing is your something borrowed." Brooke pulled the small chain with a heart charm from around her neck, "You gave me this P when we were little girls, I've worn it everyday since..." She put the necklace on Peyton, "Today you can borrow it since you've found where your heart belongs."

Peyton hugged her and wiped away her tears, "Damn you Davis, I told you I didn't want to cry today."

"Sorry," Brooke giggled, "Let's get this in gear before Jake thinks we ran away together or something."

Peyton laughed as Brooke opened the doors, "You laugh B, but you're the only girl I'd have a three-way with, Jake knows that." She looked at the stunned look on her father's face and her cheeks reddened, "Sorry daddy."

*End Flashback*

Brooke was pulled from her thoughts by a car honking, "Where were you just now?" Peyton asked her, "You almost got mowed over by that car."

"I was just thinking about when you and Jake got married. Your wedding was beautiful," Brooke said crossing the street.

"I was such a wreck, I'm glad you and Haley kept me in line that day. I don't think I could have done it without you."

Brooke nodded, "No you wouldn't have, you and Jake were going to elope. I told you that someday you would regret not wearing the white dress."

"You were right," Peyton opened the door to the cafe and waved at Karen. They sat in a booth by the window.

"Isn't this a treat. I saw my son this morning, now I get to see two or the three musketeers," Karen smiled. "Let me know when you're ready to order."

When Karen walked back to the kitchen Peyton said, "What's with that face B?"

Brooke tried to shake it off, "He told me he had to work this morning, why wouldn't he have just told me he was coming here to see his family."

Peyton put up her hand, "Stop it, just ask Karen. You know what you want?" Brooke nodded, Peyton got Karen's attention.

After they ordered Brooke said, "Luke didn't say he was coming over here. That must have been a nice surprise."

"Yes it was, he wanted to talk to me about something. Needed some motherly advice." Karen looked at Brooke, "He said you came at him with a baseball bat last night."

"I thought he was a burglar." Brooke's face reddened.

"I heard, enjoy your break ladies. I'll get Andy right on this order."

Brooke spent the rest of the day in a haze, she was starring at the time waiting for Lucas. She pulled herself out of her thoughts when she heard the knocking. She smiled, it was Lucas, dressed in a nice suit and tie. "Am I under-dressed?" She asked.

"No, you look stunning." Lucas said pulling her in for a kiss. "Let's go we have reservations, I don't want to be late." Brooke had been quiet almost the entire car ride, "Is everything alright pretty girl?"

"Yes, just thinking I guess." Brooke said picking at her nails.

"Thinking about what?"

"Us mostly," Brooke continued, "I love you so much Lucas. I hope you know that."

Lucas grabbed her hand and kissed it, "I love you too pretty girl. You complete me."

"Good writers aren't supposed to steal from other writers." Brooke said with a smile.

"Cameron Crowe writes good stuff. I mean that's a great line." They pulled up to the clearing next to the old bridge.

Brooke looked at Lucas a little confused, "I thought you said we had reservations, what are we doing at my secret spot."

Lucas came around to the passenger side, "Close your eyes, no questions."

Brooke got out of the car, "Do I have to?"

Lucas nodded, "Yes you do. Now come on." Lucas led Brooke to the river bed under the train tracks. "Open them."

Brooke opened her eyes and gasped, "Lucas, what is all this?" Brooke stared at the blanket laid out with a picnic basket and wine. There were floating tea light candles in the river next to them.

Lucas pulled Brooke to the blanket and got down on his knee, "Brooke Penelope Davis I have loved you for a lifetime. I thank God every day that we found our way back to each other. These last two years have felt like a dream, I wouldn't trade my life with you for anything." He took out a ring box and opened it, "Will you do me the honor of being my wife?"

Brooke looked at the ring, "Is that the ring Keith gave your mother?" Lucas nodded, Brooke felt the tears well up in her eyes, "Yes! Lucas yes I will marry you."

Lucas got up and placed the ring on Brooke's finger. "You had me worried there for a second when you started asking about the ring."

Brooke kissed him, "No worries here," she looked at the ring, "I just couldn't believe you would give it to me." She looked at her finger, "It's beautiful Lucas."

They sat down on the blanket and ate the meal prepared by Karen and Andy. "Did you know I was going to propose tonight? You seemed so quiet and my mom said you were really out of it when she saw you at lunchtime."

"No, I'm totally shocked." She decided against telling Lucas she thought he was going to end things, she promised herself that she would try to only see the positive things from now on.

Lucas pulled her into him, "I've wanted to do this for so long but I was happy how we were. It wasn't till I was on the book tour that I really felt like we were ready for the next step." Lucas kissed her hard. "I love you Brooke."

"I love you Lucas."
