Chapter 12
"Lecter? What are you doing here? Is Sting here too?"
The he-cat looked at her and gave her the letter.
What trick is this again? Maybe Sting's somewhere here… "What's this?" she unfolded the paper and read the letter. As she read what was written, she became puzzled and decided to re-read it:
"Blondie,
Apparently, I won't be going to Magnolia for quite some time, maybe a week or two. I am not yet sure. Don't worry about me. I'm fine. From now on, I'll try to make Lecter send you my letters for possibly twice of thrice a week. I'll expect replies from you about your condition. Take care. Wait for me."
"What's the meaning of this, Lecter?"
He sighed, "I actually don't know. When he and Rogue got back to our guild, the Master called for them immediately. No one knew what they talked about aside from him, Rogue, Master Jiemma, and the lady."
"Did your Master know about us? How are they now?"
"They're just fine. They are both in their rooms. But I don't think the Master knows about you and Sting… if he would, I'm sure he would either attack your guild or expel them from Sabertooth…"
She paused for a while then nodded, "I understand. Thank you for bringing this. Sorry if you would have to do this for several times again. Please tell Sting I'm fine. Please also tell him that I'll wait for him. Thank you…"
He nodded in return, "Then I'll go now. The master didn't know about my departure. He might notice me not in the guild. Bye, Lucy."
As much as the blonde was worried about her lover's condition and his partner, she couldn't afford to give in to her emotions. Sting said he'll come back and she should wait for him. Since she doesn't exactly know what's happening, all she can do now is trust in him.
.
.
"Luce! Let's go on a job today?"
"Sorry, Natsu… I'm not really in the mood…" she sat down.
Erza looked at her, "Why? Is something wrong?"
"Did that Saber guy hurt you?!" Natsu fired up his fist.
"Want us to give him a good beating?" Gray stripped his shirt.
Happy stuffed fish in his mouth, "Maybe Lucy hasn't paid her rent yet."
"No, Happy, this is not about my rent."
"Then it's about Sting, right? Only he can cause your face to look that down." Mira said.
"Was I that obvious?" She sighed, "To be honest, yes, this is about him."
"I knew it! That guy is up to no good! Where is he?!" Natsu roared.
"Let me finish first. Sting would never hurt me, you guys. Actually, Lecter came to me with a letter from Sting saying he won't be going here for a week or two."
"Why? Was there a problem?" the eldest Strauss offered her a drink.
"I asked that to Lecter too, but he said he has no idea. Apparently, only their master, Sting, Rogue, and Minerva knows the reason for this… But I guess it's okay. I mean, Sting said he'll be back. I guess I just really couldn't hide how troubled I am about them, especially him…"
The fire mage pumped his fist, "If that's the case, then let's just barge in their guild and beat everyone up!"
"No! That's not what we want. We want approval from both our guilds. Doing that would only cause problems…" she drank the juice Mira gave her.
"Why don't he and his partner just quit that guild anyway? It would be easier for you two if they would just become a part of Fairy Tail." The ice mage suggested.
"It won't be that easy, Gray." Erza reacted, "If that's as easy as you say it, I'm sure they would've done it a long time ago, am I right, Lucy?"
The latter nodded. "I asked Sting about that too before and he told me that as much as he wants to, he can't. He and Rogue are considered as one of the biggest assets of Sabertooth, there is no way their master would let them quit easily."
"What do you want to do now, Luce?"
She shook her head, "I… I just hope they're okay." She tried to cheer herself up, "And I am sure they are! After all…" she stared out the door, "Sting would never lie to me about his situation, right?"
.
.
"Lecter! You're back!"
"She asked me to tell you that she's fine and she'll wait for you."
He smiled hearing her message. "Typical blondie… Thanks, you're the best!"
His cat couldn't help but ask out of concern, "But what's really going on, Sting?"
"It's… it's nothing."
"So… my informants were right." She walked into his room; "You really are dating that girl from Fairy Tail." She sat down and smirked at him.
"M-my lady? Lecter, get out of my room, now."
The cat hesitated at first and then soon did as the blonde guy said.
"What do you want?"
"That's easy, Sting." She crossed her legs, "You know how much my father and I hate those pesky, little fairies. If you want your girl unscathed, break up with her."
His visions had gone all black and he suddenly rushed at her, held her neck, and lifted her up, "You…" his grip tightened, causing her to cough, "You stay away from Lucy or you will see your death."
She continued to cough… Until she smiled and laughed.
The guy's eyes widened. His reflexes were a tad slow to react to Minerva's incoming kick to his chin. He flew across the room hitting the wall with his back first.
She chuckled, "Please." She walked to him, "You don't even have the strength to scratch me." She kicked him against the wall again before he could even get up.
"Sting!"
"Oh, and look who's here – the ever supportive partner! Welcome to the party!"
"My lady… what's going on?"
"Really, Rogue? Should the explanation come from me, or the both you?!"
Sting looked at his partner, as if telling him that she already knows about that.
"What are your terms, my lady?"
"Finally! Someone who's rational! See, Sting? Your friend here knows exactly what to say and what to do! Unlike you, he asked me with respect! If you haven't attacked me, if you would consider that as an attack, you wouldn't have been in this situation. Help this annoying partner of yours." She ordered the Shadow dragon slayer.
He did as she told.
He stood up from his own, telling his nakama he's not badly hurt.
She took out a request note from her robe, "This is an S-class mission. I believe my father told you not to leave the guild until he lets you do so, right? I want you two to use this. Use this to flee from the guild. I'll take care of my father; after all, he can't resist the honor you two can bring to Sabertooth once you finish this mission."
Is she actually helping us now?
"But, here's the catch."
Right. Why would she help us?
"I'll give you both 3 months. Use that 3 months to fulfil this mission and" she looked at the White dragon slayer, "to break up with her. Let me make this clear. I want you two to come back exactly 3 months from tomorrow. I want you to come back with the credit of succeeding this mission and with no other liabilities on your shoulders. If ever you come back with either one not accomplished or if you don't come back at all, I will tell my father everything I know. And I'm sure you know him very well. If he finds out you two are involved with the fairies, I'm sure he'll kill everyone with that guild's mark. Of course, including your sweet, precious girlfriend." She threw them the paper.
Rogue tried to reason out, "B-but, my lady, 3 months is a very short period of time for us to finish this job."
She smiled evilly, "Then may I suggest cutting your connection with that girl in less than a day and concentrate on being a part of this guild instead?", and left them with her words, "Remember. Three months."
To be continued…
