"I said, ROAR!" Zuko yelled at Aang.

Aang let out a loud roar, fire spewing from his hands and mouth.

"Who wants a nice, cool glass of watermelon juice?" Katara asked from the sidelines.

"Oooh! Ooh! Me!" Aang shouted, being pulled back by Zuko.

"Hey!" He protested. "Your lesson isn't over with!"

Aang gave Zuko the puppy dog eyes, and Zuko's scowl deepened. "Fine. If you want to lounge around all day like a bunch of snail-sloths, then go ahead!"

"Zuko!" I called, racing after him. "Wait up! I need to talk to you."

"What Kairi," he sighed. "Are you here to tell me to loosen-"

"They don't know about the solstice." I interrupted.

"What?" Zuko whirled around looking shocked. "Yes they do! We were planning an attack on my father during the solstice."

"Yes," I agreed. "They were planning that. But they don't know what your father is planning to do on the solstice. They're putting it off because Aang doesn't feel like he's ready. You need to tell them what you know, and soon. I suggest that you do it non-violently also."

"Thanks for telling me, I probably would have gone off the deep end and started attacking Aang if you hadn't have told me. Wait, how do you know about the attack my father was planning in the first place?"

I gave Zuko an amused glance. "I may have heard it from a ghostly birdie."

"Oh... Will you help me tell them then?"

"Sure." I shrugged.

After Zuko and I explained, everyone looked downtrodden.

"I can't believe this." Katara said, sitting down.

"I always knew the Fire Lord was a bad guy, but his plan is just pure evil!" Sokka muttered, hugging Suki tightly.

"What am I going to do?" Aang sighed.

"I think it's time we started your spiritual training."

Everyone's gaze immediately sprung to me, but I ignored them all and continued watching Aang.

"What?" Sokka asked confused. "Why? How is spiritual training going to help Aang right now? He can already go to the Spirit World, isn't that all he needs?"

"You trained with Piandao, the Sword Master." I said, still not leaving Aang's hopeless face. "When he trained you, he taught you many thing about swords that you didn't even know, despite having been a warrior most of your life. The monks did well with Aang's meditating, but they were not masters. The last spirit-bending master was some thousands years ago."

"And," I continued, turning my gaze off of Aang and onto Sokka. "Aang can defeat Fire Lord Ozai with spirit bending without killing him."

There was total silence at my statement.

"Really?" Aang asked. "You can teach me how to do that?"

"I can't," I admitted. "But I know someone can teach you. But first we must train some."

"Alright!" Sokka yelled. "Team Avatar is back!"

"Air!" He pointed at Aang.

"Water!" He pointed at Katara.

"Earth!" He pointed at Toph and Kairu.

"Fire!" He pointed at Zuko

"Spirit!" He pointed at me.

"Fan and Sword!" He struck a ridiculous pose.

"Fighting the Fire Lord is going to be the hardest thing we've ever done together," Aang said, his face softening a bit. "But I wouldn't have it any other way."

We all came in for a hug except Zuko. "C'mon Zuko!" I laughed. "You gotta join in at some point!"

He made a face before smiling and coming into the hug. Suddenly Appa and Momo crashed into the hug too.

"You're just going to watch me do this first one, so pay attention." I told Aang as we started the first lesson in the courtyard near the water fountain.

I took a deep breath. "Spirit of the Angels, Ophelia Evans. I ask that you help me."

Ophelia took her place across from me. "I answer, young Angel. What do want me to help with?"

"The Avatar needs help defeating the Fire Lord. I am teaching him to call upon his past wisdom, and you were my first thought as to how to call a spirit."

Ophelia grinned. "I am honored, child, that you would first think of me. Hello, young Avatar." She nodded to Aang. "If you should happen to see Kyoshi, tell her I said hello."

I raised an eyebrow. "Don't you see her in the Spirit World?"

Ophelia shrugged. "Every now and again."

"Alright. Thank you Ophelia."

"Goodbye, young Angel."

Ophelia disappeared and Aang quietly turned to me. "Are all the spirits that you call that nice?"

"They can be. But remember that these are people, not elements. They will not bend to your will and will not always give you the answers you want, or want to hear." I told him. "Now, get into a meditating pose."

Aang did as I said as I instructed him how to call on his past selves and how to control his energy, allowing the spirit to communicate. When the first part was done, I instructed him to take the rest of the day off, think about everything he had learnt that day, and not to try calling any spirit without me present.

The next day, Zuko trained him how to redirect lightning. After that, I taught Aang some more, but he seemed distracted the whole lesson. It was during dinner that night that Aang blew up about not wanting to kill the Fire Lord. I stood up after he ran off to his room.

"Aang would be going against every moral he was taught if he killed anyone. I think we may need to go on a little field trip. One I had hoped we wouldn't need to take." I admitted sadly.

"We will probably leave tonight, but don't worry, we'll meet up with you during the battle. I won't let Aang run away from his duties. You all should go find the White Lotus. They are located near the wall of Ba Sing Se. Uncle is there." I told Zuko.

"Are you sure you know what you're doing?" Katara asked.

"Extremely." I nodded.

"Good luck then." Suki said, hugging me.

Soon it turned into a group hug as I left to get Aang. When I reached his room, Aang was already meditating.

"It's time we take a little fieldtrip." I said from the doorway.

"We can't." Aang said. "We're leaving tomorrow."

"We're meeting everyone else on the day of the invasion. As your spirit bending teacher, we are going to meet the person who will help you not kill Ozai."

"Let's go then." Aang said, grabbing his glider.

"Leave it here." I told him. "You won't need that right where we're going. However, we must sleep to get there."

"Aang, wake up."

"Kairi," Aang yawned. "I just had the strangest dream."

"It wasn't a dream."

Aang shot up. "Where are we?" He asked.

"A traveling island of sorts. And now that we're here, you are going to get the help you need."

"Lead the way, sensei."

Eventually, I found the hexagonal center place and sat down. "You need someone familiar to talk to the first time." I told Aang. "Meditate and think of Roku."

Aang mediated while I waited for Roku. It took a few minutes, but Roku finally appeared across from us.

"Angel Kairi is right Aang. All the past Avatars, all their past wisdom is available to you if you look deep inside yourself. I see that you are lost in more ways than one right now."

"I am," Aang admitted. "I need to figure out what to do once I face the Fire Lord. Everyone expects me to take his life, but I don't know if I can do that!"

"In my life, I tried to show discipline and restraint." Roku told Aang. "It backfired when Fire Lord Sozin tried to take advantage of my restraint and mercy. If I had been more decisive and acted sooner, I could have stopped Sozin and stopped the war before it started. I offer you this wisdom Aang, you must be decisive."

Aang sighed, but moved on. "Avatar Kyoshi, I need your wisdom."

Kyoshi appeared across from Aang. "In my day, Chin the Conqueror threatened to throw the world out of balance. Grand Master Ophelia and I stopped him, and the world entered a great era of peace."

"But you didn't really kill Chin," Aang argued. "He was too stubborn to get out of the way and fell to his death."

"Personally I don't see the difference." Kyoshi shrugged. "But I assure you, I would have done everything I could to stop Chin. I offer you this wisdom Aang, only justice will bring peace. And yes, Angel Kairi, I know Ophelia wanted you to pass on her greetings."

Kyoshi disappeared and Aang fell back onto his back. "I knew I should have asked Kyoshi." Aang sighed.

"Try an air nomad then." I suggested.

"Great idea!" Aang said, rolling back into his meditative pose. "Thanks Kairi!" This time, it took nearly ten minutes to summon an air nomad avatar.

"I am Avatar Yan Chin, young Avatar and Angel." Yan Chin told us.

"Avatar Yan chin," Aang said. "The monks always taught us that all life is sacred, even the tiniest spider-fly caught in it's own web. I'm even a vegetarian. I've always tried to be quick and clever, only using violence when in self defense."

"Avatar Aang," Yan Chin said. "I know that you are a gentle spirit, and the monks have taught you well; but this isn't about you. This is about the world."

"The monks told me to detach myself from the world so my spirit could be free!" Aang protested.

"Yes, but the Avatar is bound to the world," I told Aang, putting a hand on his shoulder.

"Angel Kairi is right." Yan Chin nodded. "It is the Avatar's purpose to look after the world and keep it's balance, just as it is the Angel's duty to do that for every world. Here is my wisdom for you, selfless duty calls you to sacrifice your own spiritual needs and protect the world."

"I can't do it, Kairi." Aang sighed. "I just can't kill the Fire Lord."

"Sleep, Aang. And when you wake, I will show you my friend." I said.

"Are we close?" Aang asked.

I smiled. "Very."

"It's time Aang."

Aang awoke immediately and followed me to the front of the 'island'. He stared at the approaching mountains before asking me a question. "We aren't on an island, are we?"

"Not quite." I agreed. "This island is actually my friend."

"What is it?"

"A giant Lion-Turtle."

"You have some cool friends, don't you?" He smiled at me.

"You don't know the half of it," I grinned. "Now, what you're going to do is swim near the head and get his attention. Then we'll see if he grants your request."

Aang did as I said, and as the Lion-Turtle raised him eye level, I sprouted my wings and flew onto the Lion-Turtle's hand. We both bowed to the Lion-Turtle before Aang spoke. "Maybe you can help me. Everyone, even my own past lives, are expecting me to end someone's life, but I don't know if I can do it."

"The true mind can weather lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can cuff the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since the beginning of time, darkness thrives in the void, but always leaves to purified light. Wait for him. He will come." The Lion-Turtle touched Aang's head and he glowed green for a second. He placed us near the Cliffside before turning back around.

"Now you are ready." I told Aang, putting my hand on his shoulder before sprouting my wings again. "And I will fly the both of us to the meet up. Just hold on to me."

And with that, I leapt into the air with Aang, racing towards the impending fight.

I dropped Aang off on some rocks; both of us watching Ozai destroy the landscape. I nodded to Aang. "Go get 'em Aang. I'm going to go fight."

I flew all the way to the Fire Nation palace where I knew Zuko and Katara would be fighting Azula. And by now, she should have been stir-fry crazy from Mai and Ty Lee deserting her in order to help Zuko during the Boiling Rock episode.

Great, I get to handle a crazy bitch.

I arrived right as Azula and Zuko started their Agni Kai. I stood near Katara, my wings safely back inside me, as the siblings both stood up from the ground, Azula taking off her Fire Lord robe.

"I'm sorry it has to end this way, brother." Azula sneered.

"No you're not." Zuko scoffed.

Azula and Zuko flung everything they had at each other, and I had to admit, it looked beautiful. The heat from the fire warmed me from my head to my toes. The way the blue and red fire bounced off each other and created colors looked as if it were an intricate dance, and not a deadly battle between siblings.

The battle lasted around an hour, much, much longer than in the cartoon, but I was just as energized, digging my fingernails into my hand to stop myself from interrupting.

Finally, Zuko started taunting Azula. "What's a matter? No lightning today? Afraid I'll redirect it?"

"I'll show you lightning!" Azula screamed while drawing up lightning. She looked like she was going to point it at Zuko, when suddenly; she turned it on me instead of Katara.

I could see Zuko in the corner of my eye, racing to try and take the hit for me. No, I thought determinedly. I won't let him take this for me. He needs to continue with Katara. I started racing towards the lightning and pushed Zuko out of the way, just in time for me to be hit in the chest.

Excruciating pain.

It was the only way to describe it. I could feel practically every muscle in my body jumping. I could hear Katara and Zuko screaming my name, but when they tried to approach me, Azula fired lightning at both of them. All I could hear was her screechy, insane laughter as everything faded black.
