A/N: We're already at chapter 12, wow, time goes fast. Jane was a bit of a jerk in the last episode. She's going to try and make up with Maura, but will she even want to hear it? Thank you for everyone who reviewed and followed and favorited! And I hope you guys enjoy this chapter.

It was later that night when Jane decided to turn her phone back on. She immediately noticed the missed calls from Maura, but what made her frown were the missed calls coming from an unknown number. Just as she was about to discard the phone, it went off. Looking at her screen, she saw the same unknown number that had been calling her all day.

She cautiously answered it, letting out a weary "Hello?"

"Hello Jane. This is Constance Isles. I've been trying to reach you for the majority of the day. I'm glad I was able to get you on the phone." Jane didn't answer. She had no idea why Constance was calling. Maybe to let her know that she wasn't welcome anymore? Her tone of voice didn't give anything away however.

"I was hoping we could talk about Maura. You were gone before she could talk to you before."

Jane huffed this time, rolling her eyes simultaneously.

"What, so you can tell me how stupid she was for hanging out with me and how she's changed her mind now and never wants to see me again? No thank you, I already got that message."

"On the contrary Jane. Maura was going to tell you that I am fine with the two of you being together." Jane gaped at her door, unbelief showing in her eyes.

"Wait, what?" She heard Constance chuckle at the other end of the line.

"Maura seems to be very happy since you've come into her life. I have never seen her act this way and I couldn't be happier to see it. I understand that I scared you earlier today, but I was hoping to make it up with you. Do you see any way to come over tonight? Maura would be ecstatic to see you. Please say you'll come."

Jane couldn't believe what she was hearing. Maura's mother was inviting her over and telling her that she was cool with her and Maura being together. From everything she had heard from Maura, it seemed as if she didn't take an interest in anything she did. And the whole Garret thing? She wasn't sure what to think of any of this, but it seemed as if the woman had turned a new leaf and was doing everything she could to make Maura feel happy. And Jane couldn't bring herself to take away any of that happiness. She relented with a sigh.

"I can come over. I'll be there soon. Will you tell Maura that I'm sorry for what happened today?"

"You can tell her yourself when you get here."

The phone call ended with this and Jane quickly packed an overnight bag. Maybe if she was lucky she could stay the night. That would get her away from here for a while. When Jane walked downstairs, she saw her family sitting around. Her mother didn't turn around, nor did she give any sign of recognition when Jane told them she would be heading out.

The door opened mere seconds after Jane had rang the doorbell, an unfamiliar face greeting her. He ushered her inside, took her coat and bag and led her through to the living room. Jane didn't say a word and let everything just happen. This must be how Maura felt every day, to have someone get everything ready for her. She entered the room silently, instantly spotting both Constance and Maura on the couch.

Maura was snuggled against her mother, a sight that surprised Jane. She had a feeling something more than just talking happened between the two of them. She couldn't stop but feel a pang of jealousy shoot through her. The nineteen year old quickly reminded herself that this was new for Maura. And that what she had now was something Jane had had all her life.

Constance looked up and smiled softly at her. She nudged Maura and nodded in Jane's direction. The honey-blonde lifted her head, a surprised look entering her eyes. She sat up, a frown appearing on her face. Jane stepped forward unsure.

"Hey."

"Hi." Maura's voice was soft, but it made Jane wince. She could hear the pain and the betrayal in it.

Constance stood up from her spot and gave her daughter a kiss on the top of her head. "I'll be in my office if you need me." Maura nodded, smiling appreciatively at her mother.

Constance silently left the room, but not before giving Jane a warning look. She'd better make things right with Maura. Jane took a shuddering breath, feeling the weight of everything on her shoulders. She was tired and all she wanted to do was crawl under the covers and forget about everything that happened today. But she knew she had to make things right with Maura first.

She stepped forward, her eyes never leaving the other girls'. "Maura." She started, stopping as well. What was she supposed to tell her? Say 'sorry'? Nothing would be fixed with that.

But it's a start. Jane reasoned with herself, taking a deep breath.

"I'm sorry. For bolting. I'm a complete jerk and I'd understand if you're angry with me." She was surprised to hear the huff come from Maura.

"Angry? You told me you would wait for me Jane. You promised me you'd stay. And then I find out you left. Do you know how much it hurt? How it made me feel?" Jane merely shook her head.

"No, but I'd be willing to listen." Maura glared at her.

"And you think that it will all be okay? That it will fix everything? I can tell you about my feelings Jane, I can tell you how I felt, but it wouldn't do any good. And do you know why? Because you wouldn't understand anyway. You've never felt betrayed. You have a great family, a mother that cares. A father that helps you. Brothers to have fun with. I have never had that, so you cannot understand what I went through when I saw that you had left."

Maura's face had turned red, she was breathing heart and her hands were clenched into fists. Jane swallowed down the anger she felt at that. Yes, she might have a wonderful family, but at least Maura had a family that accepted her for who she was.

"You think I can't relate to anything you're feeling right now? My family is wonderful in your eyes, they're the best. Well I can tell you that they're not! I told my mother about us you know that? I told her when I got home. Do you know what she said? She told me she would call Father Crowley. That you made me think that I was into girls. That all of this will pass. So yeah, maybe you think my family is great, but at least you have a family that accepts you for who you are and doesn't think that it's a sin!"

Jane was screaming by the end of it, breathing just as hard as Maura. The two girls looked at each other, no, glared at each other. The silence around them was deafening. Their breathing was the only thing that was heard, before they slowly got it under control. Maura swallowed, a feeling of guilt settling into the pit of her stomach.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know. But that doesn't make any of this right Jane."

"I know! All right, I know damnit, but I'm trying to tell you that I'm sorry."

"And I'm hearing your apology."

"So? Do you accept it or not? Cause if you don't then tell me, because I will leave and you'll never have to see me again." Jane felt the anger returning. She didn't want to lash out, but it was in her nature.

"It's that simple for you? If I say no you will forget everything that we had? That we still have? You can't deny the chemistry between us Jane. And need I remind you that it was you who showed up here today and kissed me?"

"No, you don't have to remind me. All I'm trying to say here is sorry. Why are you making such a big deal out of this?"

"I'm not. But I am wondering if you will run away every time we have an argument."

"I don't think that will be a problem Maur."

Maura frowned. "You think we will never have an argument again? That's not very realistic thinking of you Jane."

Jane scoffed. "You're leaving for college, I'm joining the academy. Do you really think we'll see each other again? Besides, there's Garret too." The anger couldn't be mistaken when Jane said his name.

"Then why are you here?" The question sounded so small, so fragile that it made Jane think twice about what she just said.

She swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat, only now just realizing what she had said. She took a step forward, but halted when she saw the look in Maura's eyes.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say that. I just…" She could feel her throat heat up, felt the constriction. The sign that tears weren't that far behind.

"I don't want to fight with you." She started, blinking back the tears. "I care about you Maura. I care about you a lot. So much that it scares me. I'm not good enough for you. Only someone like Garret is good enough for you. Why do you think your mother chose him? Because he can take care of you, because he can make sure that you're okay. I can't do that. I can hardly take care of myself. I still need my mother to do my laundry. And I'm scared that you'll figure that out too. And when you do, not if, no when you do, you'll leave me and I… I don't think I can handle that." Jane took a breath.

She had just told Maura everything. It all just came out and she didn't even try to stop it. She wanted to let the honey-blonde know what she felt. She put her heart out there and that scared her even more. She was willing to do that for Maura. All she hoped now was that she wouldn't stomp on it.

Maura bit back her own tears. She couldn't believe that Jane thought she wasn't good enough for her. If anything, she made her a better person. Made her believe that she could be what she wanted to be. Jane was the only person she felt comfortable with. With whom she could be herself. She stepped forward on shaky legs, the emotions overwhelming.

"Oh Jane." It was all she could get out, before she threw herself at the other girl.

Her lips found Jane's in a soft kiss that held everything words couldn't possess. They wrapped their arms around each other and stood there, in the middle of the living room, speaking through their kisses.

A/N: Yay, they made up. Now all that's left is getting Angela to try and accept Jane for who she is. We'll see how that will go! I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter and I will see you all again next week :)
