Back inside the throne room, Yellow, Blue and White are looking at each other, in silence. However, the silence doesn't last long, just like Blue expected.
"It is all your fault!" White suddenly shouts.
"No, it's not!" Yellow shouts back.
"Yes, it is your fault! You were the one who didn't let me tell her." He punches his own throne.
"Enough!" Blue Diamond makes Yellow and White stay in silence. "Now, you're going to explain all of this to me!" Blue Diamond looks at the two diamonds.
"What do we need to explain? Didn't you figure it out by now?" Yellow crosses her arms.
"No, not everything. There are things that don't make sense."
"Like what?"
"Why did you choose him? Why did you choose someone you hate?" Blue and Yellow reache eye to eye.
"Well, I had to do that. I didn't want to give up my physical form. I needed a gem of my type to have a child and the only one available was White."
Blue looks at Yellow for a few more seconds and then takes a deep breath. "Who told you that?"
"Told what?" Yellow makes a confused face.
"That you needed a gem of your type."
"White... Diamond." Yellow looks at him.
"Why did you lie to her?" Blue hides her face, imaging what is about to happen.
"You did what!?" Yellow Diamond shouts.
He stands up from the throne and steps back, away from Yellow. "Well, you see, I was running out of ways to make you look at me again..." He looks at his hands. "And when you told me that you were planning to have a kid, well, it was the perfect chance. We could have been a family together, but the plans didn't go exactly as they should have gone."
"You lied to me." Yellow whispers to herself.
"I'm sorry." White looks away, he can't look at Yellow or Blue.
Yellow doesn't say anything for a while, but, in a blink of an eye, she stands up and looks at him.
"You are gonna pay for this." Yellow jumps on the direction of White's gem, but he gets away before she could reach his gem.
" Are you nuts?" He looks at the angry gem in front of him. "You could have shattered me!"
"You lied to me! You used me! My heir could have been a quartz, but because of you, she is not! I didn't even need to have a daughter with you! I trusted you for a moment and you lied to me!" She shouts.
"Yellow, try to understand me. I didn't have another option..."
"You didn't have the right!" She interrupts him.
"But..."
"Enough!" Yellow shouts, sending lightnings for all the corners of the room.
Blue and White look at Yellow, who is catching her breath. By instinct, Blue stands up and walks towards Yellow.
"Yellow…"
"I'm going to my room. Don't follow me." Yellow walks towards the door, leaving the room without any other word.
White Diamond sits back on his throne and looks at Blue Diamond.
"You shouldn't have done that." Blue finally says.
"Are you defending her? After all the things she did to you?"
"No, I'm not. However, what you did was seriously wrong. You lied to her to have a child with her. It is not right. If she still loved you... but that is not the case... If she did, it would be easier to fix this." Blue takes a deep breath. "Why did she trust you to give her information?"
"Because I was the one who happened to have the archives of your pregnancy and the one who had a computer full of informations to give to her." White crosses his arms.
"You held the information all to yourself on purpose… She had to ask you. She was the one who didn't have a choice in this situation." Blue closes her eyes.
"I still love her, Blue, after all this time. I can't help myself. I know we fight all the time, but I really want Yellow back." He looks at the door.
"Stop with this dramatic conversation, please." Blue massages her forehead.
"Dramatic?!"
"Yes! Stop using your love as an excuse." They reach eye to eye.
"What will I do now?" He places his head on his hands. "I know Yellow won't forgive me that easy."
"First of all, you have to apologize to Peridot. I will talk to her first. After that, you will do it. She is the one really suffering in this situation. She didn't ask to have you as parents or to be in the middle of your fight."
"And what do I do about Yellow?" He asks.
"We deal with her later."
He looks at her. "Thanks for helping me."
"Don't thank me. I'm not doing this for you. I'm just helping to fix things for our empire and for Peridot. I do not support you on your lies and I didn't think you could do such a thing... When you told me that we would fight to change her together, I thought that you were not worse than her." Blue looks at the door. "I'm gonna find Peridot . She needs someone with her right now."
Blue Diamond walks out of the room, towards Peridot's room, on the floor upstairs. Leaving White Diamond alone with his thoughts.
Blue takes just a few seconds to get to the right floor and a minute to get to Peridot's room. When she stops in front of it, Blue listens to a crying coming from the inside. She silently opens the door and, for her surprise, Blue finds a scene she thought she would never see in her life.
Peridot is hugging Yellow Diamond, who is holding her daughter just like she would hold a baby. Peridot is crying while her mother is caressing her head.
Blue Diamond can't help, but smile at the scene.
"Don't lose who you are, in the blur of the stars. Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing. It's okay not to be okay. Sometimes it's hard to follow your heart, but tears don't mean you're losing." Yellow sings to her daughter.
"But, when I was five, you told me that a quartz would never cry." Peridot says, between tears.
"I know I did, but you're not a quartz. You're a peridot. My Peridot Diamond." Yellow places her hand on Peridot's hair and stay in silence for a while.
"Does that mean you accept who I am?" Peridot asks with hope.
"You can say that." The diamond smiles.
"What made you change your mind?" Peridot looks at her mother.
"Well... I found out that your father lied to me. You could have been a quartz, I mean, my heir could have been a quartz. However, I realized it's my fault that you're a peridot, it's not yours. I realized that even Blue Diamond was a better mother for you than I was. I have to admit, I tried to make things hard for you since you were born. I tried to use you as a way to make Blue trust me and be by my side again, however, I couldn't even get that right. You two got closer, but things are still the same between Blue and me. Anyway, I was not the best mother for you and I will never be the best."
"I don't expect you to be the best. I just want you there for me." Peridot places her head on her mother's chest. "Mom?"
"Yes, Peridot?"
"Why didn't you tell me that White Diamond was my father?"
"Because I didn't want someone telling me how to make things. When I had to make decisions about you, I didn't want someone telling me what to do. I knew that if you knew about White, you would go for him whenever you didn't like a decision of mine. I told him that if he told you he was your father, I would take you away from him because I didn't want him around my choices for you." She looked at the window. "I thought everything was fine and in order, but, today, I found out that he didn't even need to be your father. He lied to me to have you."
"That is wrong." Peridot looks at her mom.
"I know." Yellow hugs her daughter.
"Mother, can I ask you something?"
"Yes." Yellow looks at Peridot.
"I know this is not the best time to ask, but can I stop training?"
Yellow takes a deep breath and closes her eyes, making Peridot expect a negative answer coming from her mother, however, that is not it.
"I will think about that later." Yellow opens her eyes with a smile.
"Thanks." Peridot hugs her mom.
"Now, we need to make a deal."
"What is it?" Peridot asks with curiosity.
"Let's keep this moment a secret. I accept you, but no one have to know that. You can come to my room at night so we can talk... but in front of the others, you will just be my loyal Peridot. Okay?"
Peridot stops and thinks for a while. "Well, I guess that is better than don't talk with you at all."
"Do we have a deal?" Yellow asks.
"Yes, we do have a deal." Peridot smiles.
Blue Diamond, who was listening to everything from behind the door, doesn't notice a Jasper coming towards her.
"Blue Diamond." The Jasper makes the diamond salute with the hands.
"Shhh." Blue Diamond tries to make the Jasper stay quiet, but it is too late. Yellow Diamond stands up from the bed and walks towards the door.
"What's it, mom?" Peridot asks.
"We have a guest." Yellow opens the door and looks at Blue. "What are you doing here?"
Blue tries to come up with an excuse, but fails, completely. The only thing left is the truth. "Well, you see, I was coming to see how Peridot was doing, but I didn't think that I would find you here. Actually, you were the last gem I was expecting to find here."
"The Pearls were here, but I told them to go to the healing center and fix their gems. They had scratches on them." Yellow says.
"So, I will leave you alone. It looks like Peridot has all she needs."
"Yes."
Before leaving, Blue gives Yellow a smile of approve, receiving a confused face from the other gem.
Blue Diamond is walking towards her room, but the same quartz from before stops her.
"What do you want?" The Diamond asks, losing her patience.
"We have a problem."
"With what?"
The next time Blue takes a deep breath, she is inside the healing center
"Where is she?" The Diamond asks.
"Over there, my diamond." The quartz points at the door in the end of the room.
She walks inside the room and finds Blue Pearl on the bed, crying on Yellow Pearl's shoulder.
Blue Diamond sits on a chair next to the bed, making the pearl look at her diamond.
"I'm sorry, my diamond."
"Why didn't you tell me?" The Diamond asks.
"I thought you would be angry about this. It is forbidden. If Yellow Diamond finds out, I'm gonna be shattered."
"I wouldn't be angry. I don't know about Yellow Diamond." She looks at Yellow Pearl. "But, I would be okay with it."
Blue Pearl cries even more. "It doesn't matter now. I miscarried after the battle." She sobs between her tears, receiving a hug from Yellow Pearl.
"I'm gonna return to my duty." Blue Pearl tries to stand up.
"I will not need you today. You can stay here." Blue Diamond says. "I'm gonna go talk to whoever is in charge of this center to keep this a secret and then I'll leave." She stands up.
Yellow Pearl looks at the diamond. "Blue Diamond, I know we are just pearls, but thank you." She says, kneeling in front of the diamond.
"You're not just pearls. You're diamonds' pearls. You are not made like normal pearls are. You even have more power than some gems around here. You two are different." The diamond walks out of the room, leaving them behind.
Once she gets out, Blue Diamond rests on the first wall she can find.
"Oh my stars." She whispers to herself. "I do need some rest. Whoever told me that coming back after all those years would be easy was seriously wrong. This place is upside down!" The diamond notices some gems coming towards her. Blue puts herself together and starts to walk towards her room, pretending to have everything under control. One of the lies she tells herself everyday.
