Chapter 12: Arrival
Time: 11:30 am
Within a second of entering the wormhole, Comet's ship passed through the atmosphere of Earthland. Comet lined up the coordinates of his ship to that of the crash site of the Aloha Oe and his fallen chimp comrades. As the ship safely landed on ground level, Comet felt a deep sense of regret and anguish of seeing the wreckage. Among existing the ship, Comet geared up, by equipping a blaster at his side and putting on a strange watch-like contraption on his wrist. Whilst he was equipping himself with the necessary equipment, he could hear the noise of savage wolves tearing in to a meal.
Comet braced himself and took a deep breath.
Wolves? Around the wreckage. It's a bit of an odd occurrence for it to be happening here. Whatever, gotta stay calm. A few wolves shouldn't be too much to handle, let alone those guys who murdered my friends!
Comet slowly stepped out of the ship, blaster in hand. He peeped his head around and saw the pack fighting over bits of meat. For some unknown reason, this made Comet feel queasy inside. He took a deep gulp and pointed his blaster at the wolves, firing shots as if he was an expert marksman. Throughout his outburst, Comet managed to kill a few of them before they noticed what had hit them.
The wolves, blood lusted, charged at Comet with an unrivalled ferocity before being mercilessly shot. Comet walked to where the wolves were feasting and came to a horrific conclusion. They were not eating ordinary prey. Amongst the meat and bones, the torn-up uniform of Ham the third was amongst it. This kindled the already burning fire within him to that of an inferno.
They'll pay. THEY WILL ALL PAY!
Comet could hear the whimpering of one of the nearby wolves, distraught after seeing it's kin murdered. However, it's cries of anguish did not sway Comet's vengeance, for he slowly raised his blaster and put the wolf out of its misery.
"Whoa there Comet! What did you do!?" said a familiar voice.
Comet jerked his head to see his friend, seasoned space chimp Houston confused at the wreckage.
"Houston, there's something you need to see." Comet raised the tattered uniform of Ham the third.
"Oh my… That's not…. It can't be!" Houston came to the sad realization that his comrades met a terrible fate.
"I came here to bring you back home, but now I understand. I'm gonna help you get those bastards that got Ham!" shouted a vengeful Houston.
"Speaking of which, how did you find me?" questioned Comet.
"I saw through the camera feeds that you took one of our prototype ships, I grabbed a few things lying around and built a watch that's capable of teleportation. I took one of your many hair strands lying around and traced your signature from there. It's only got enough juice to take us back home, but we can do that when we finish up." Replied Houston in a smug manner.
"Nice, I thought inventing tech like this wasn't your thing?" said an impressed Comet.
"I watched you build a few things, so I learnt a thing or two. I also took some pretty cool toys." Chuckled Houston as he cocked an automatic shotgun.
Don't worry Ham, Luna, Titan, you will be avenged.
