The room was completely and utterly silent, almost as if nobody dared to even brave as realization suddenly started to sink in. The following outburst was as loud and eardrum-shattering as Lucifer had imagined.
"She is a what?!"
The woman covered her ears and crinkled at the loudness of their exclamation of the other three unit members was. In the corner of her eye she saw how Soma jerked involuntarily as well but hid his reaction by crossing his arms before his chest. Higher senses or sensitive ears came at a price when someone shared some was in the same unit as Kota or, in this case, even Alisa.
"Scream a little louder so the whole den will know about this." She scolded them in a low and stern tone and received a mumbled sorry in return. She was aware that the room was sound proof but that didn't meant that she wanted to lose her eardrums to something like that. Again she glanced at the young man leaning against the wall, noticing, that he didn't even look slightly surprised by this reveal.
Her attention went back to the individual who sat in front of them and titled its head to the left.
Lucifer couldn't do anything else but to click her tongue and sigh.
It was a sigh of defeat.
Just once in a while she would have liked a normal mission which just included killing the aragami, gathering the core and get the credits for it. This goal seemed to be a laughable far away right now under these circumstances, especially ever since 'Hiro' had set his foot into this very building.
Misfortune and complex problems followed this individual everywhere he went and she, more than she would like to admit, had once more the duty to pay for this man's ability to throw her now relatively normal life style straight to hell itself.
As if it wasn't enough that she still suffered from the aftereffects of the resonance which hit her way harder than the previous incident with Alisa. It had triggered dreams and memories of the exhausting sort and Lucifer hated to admit that she had trouble to find any sleep since then. Such a thing hadn't happened in years and she most certainly didn't need it now.
Additionally it had been laughably easy to fall into a murderous frenzy where her mind just excused itself into oblivion while she massacred her way through the herds of smaller aragami. It wasn't that far from abnormal but the fact that she was enjoying it immensely and her whole body was itching to get more of this feeling was irritating.
Despite her previous occupation and her former notorious reputation, she was averse to unnecessary blood spilling and massacres in total. The most thrilling thing for her was going against a worthy opponent and the thrill of cornering and hunting her prey based on the battle of wits.
What she now experienced, was most certainly 'Hiro's favourite fantasy and past time and she just wanted to make it leave.
This new blood lust also made her take on more solo missions to satisfy her needs and she had hoped that it would soon disappear. Unfortunately her unit had noticed the drastic change of behaviour and her reckless tendency to just jump into a fight without warning.
Even though she never sustained serious injuries through it, Sakuya and Alisa had tried to drag her to the sickbay. Fortunately, Lucifer had succeeded in slipping out of their grasp before they had reached the door and was glad that she was quite good in a game of hide and seek.
Kota, on the other hand had tried to strike up more conversations with her - much to her annoyance - and so she tried to avoid him as well. This action only had ended in him trying to get her attention and raising her mood with pranks.
She had to admit, some of them were quite amusing but the other Unit Leader had told her to make him stop - with fresh water still dripping from his strains of hair, a bucket in his hands and a tried expression plastering his face.
After that, she had decided that it was time to put them into their place.
And she hadn't ask nicely, she hadn't begged, she had ordered them to cease their actions and even though they had tried to explain, she had shot them down. Lucifer stated that she didn't need help with it and that she was aware of what she was doing. Still, it didn't stop stolen glances thrown into her direction.
The only one of them who had reacted somehow 'normal' was Soma although she still felt his glare stabbing her back more than necessary.
It not only annoyed her that she couldn't hide her 'situation' better but that also the circumstances weren't beneficial to her to recuperate from it.
There she stood, amidst several people who she should take care off. Kota was a hopeless series addict but normal on the other hand despite his tendency to just doze out sometimes. Alisa was brainwashed and her leader was still not sure if that girl could be considered as 'safe' to be around.
Just to top it off, Soma was an anti-social human experiment who most likely wanted her head to be skewered on a stick.
Luckily, Sakuya was a reasonable person and helped her with some pieces of advice here and there if it weren't for her tendency to try to drag her into the sickbay or get her to strip once in a while to treat her injuries.
Which only left Lucifer herself and she was properly the worst of them, compared by the usual amount of sanity. She was perfectly aware that she could drive someone - preferably a therapist – into lunacy when she needed to.
Of course, she had to deal with her insanity from time to time since it interfered badly with her course of actions but thanks to years of experience she had learnt to keep up her appearance and kept the control of her actions.
Under these circumstances, this would render her useless as a leader per default. If it weren't for the certain director who would try to use her until she dropped dead and gave her the position to get her under his direct control.
All in all, the reveal that about what she just brought in the den was frustrating to the point she had to restrain herself from strangling the next person that came across her. It was harder than expected. Especially when Mammon's voice whispered sweetly into her ear to just rip out someone's throat for fun.
The professor flashed an apologetic smile to her, seemingly aware of how utterly pleased she was about this. She shot back a glare which made his lips and smile tremble a little bit before she sighed and massaged her eyes.
She had no other choice than to roll with it.
"So…What we have here is one of 'special' aragami you were talking about."
"Yes, indeed."
"B-But she looks almost like a normal girl!" Kota exclaimed and pointed at the creature before him.
"Please stop shouting." The woman retorted calmly and closed her eyes again. After a short silence and a thrown becoming apparent on her forehead, she continued. "Seems like the doctor was right with his theory about humanoid aragami. This should come hardly as surprise but someone was sleeping in class again."
The boy jerked, laughing nervously and crossed his arms behind his head. "Oh, come on..."
Suddenly sound of the door opening and closing interrupted her retort. Soma seemed to have enough of this little play and left.
The big yellow eyes of the aragami girl sitting before them looked confused and turned her head to Lucifer, almost as if she wanted to ask why he had left.
The woman rose an eyebrow, surprised by the reaction of the creature to this but then just shrugged her shoulders and directed her attention back to the doctor. Lucifer had a gist why the young man left the room so quickly but she saw no reason to explain it to someone who barely spoke her language.
"So, what are you planning to do with it?"
"Well, she needs a name."
The woman's frown deepened, becoming more irritated than she already was.
"What."
Her voice was flat, unsurprised but she still couldn't believe what she just heard or rather the implication of it.
"You aren't suggesting that we keep..."
"I know! How about Naomi?" Kota interrupted her and threw the whole room into silence again.
"...You really have a bad naming sense." Alisa stated bluntly and crossed her arms before her chest.
"This name isn't that bad! Right, Leader?" The person in question sighed deeply for the third time since she had entered this room.
Her brain still wanted to deny what this fox was planning to do. Finding a human aragami was one thing, using her as bait another but deciding to keep an aragami right in a den full of humans who killed aragami was something that she did not approve off.
"H-Hey, what kind of reaction was that?!"
"See? Even Leader does thinks the same!"
Now Alisa and Kota started bickering, making her dawning headache grow and she was tempted to just follow Soma to just get away from this. Sakuya stepped next to her and chuckled as the younger woman stifled a groan.
"What do you think?"
"Hmm?"
"How should we name her?"
Lucifer blinked and she turned to her.
"Pardon me?"
"I mean have you a name in mind that would be fitting for her?"
Lucifer looked at the creature who was smiling at her and her golden eyes watched her with childish curiosity.
"Come on, give it a try."
The medic tried to encourage her as the other started to shift her weight from one leg to another. She didn't like the idea of naming another being just like that.
"I..." She avoided the Sakuya's glance this time. "I would rather not..."
The other woman frowned as she noticed her sudden change of posture from a stiff into a more insecure and reluctant one.
"Why?"
"Because my naming sense might be worse." Lucifer managed to chuckle, trying to play it off as a joke, but judging the eyebrow that slowly wandered upwards on Sakuya's face, the medic didn't bought this pitiful performance one bit.
"Why... aren't we asking the person in question what she likes?" It was an almost futile attempt to direct the attention away from her. That aragami wouldn't understand what they were quarrelling about in the first place but in her situation it was worth a try.
She felt like she almost dislodged her jaw as the aragami smiled even more brightly and opened her mouth.
"Shio!" The girl chirped.
Lucifer blinked, the discussion in the background ceased and everybody just stared at the creature in human form who repeated the word.
"But Naomi is a nice name, isn't it?"
"Shio!"
"Kota...I think she has the right to choose her own name." His leader interrupted him before he could protest.
"But..." Kota's next words remained stuck in his throat as she noticed that his superior began to curl her lips up to a gentle smile that emitted such a malicious aura that it made his skin crawl.
"I think Shio is a fine name, don't you?" She was still smiling, her eyes following his every movement and the boy swallowed as he felt as if his life was at stake.
"Y-yeah..."
"Good, then we will call this aragami Shio."
He exhaled and relaxed as her attention drifted away from him
"Man, you can be scary sometimes."
"I have heard that."
He jerked and she stifled a chuckle, finding his reaction highly amusing. There was nothing wrong with enjoying to scare some people once in a while. Then she turned serious again and looked at the doctor, arms crossed before her chest.
"To keep it short: Shio will stay here?"
"Yes, I have already a room prepared." He paused, cleaning one of his multiple glasses before he sighed. "Unfortunately, I have another favour to ask of you."
She lifted an eyebrow, waiting him to continue.
"I would like you to keep her company to teach her one or two things and most importantly, to keep silent about this. Is that alright with you?"
"Sure why not?" Kota answered right away.
"I...will as well. I can let this irresponsible person watch over her alone. God only knows what he teaches her." Alisa joined in.
"And...Just to be sure that nothing goes wrong, I will also try to spend some time with her." Then all of their heads turned to Lucifer, expecting her standpoint.
"…I do not agree with this but as the situation stands, I will see what I can do."
With that, she turned around and left the room, feeling her headache was reaching unbearable levels. All she wanted right now was a bed and a few hours of sleep before she was going to hunt a few aragami for materials.
"This thing is going to stay, isn't it?"
Her steps slowed down and her head turned to the person who sat beside the vending machine, taking a sip from a can of soda.
"Seems like it."
"Why are you siding with him?"
The woman gazed at Soma out of the corner of her eyes.
"I don't. But the girl is already here and I can't change that."
"This 'girl' is an aragami." He hissed lowly so only she could hear it.
"So are you and I didn't skewer you with my sword." She paused, smiled and added. "Yet."
He crushed the can in his hand, eyes narrowing. This pupils were narrow almost if he was trying to threaten her.
"Never tempt a devil, Death God. That will never end well." Although it was a serious warning, she just followed their little game which contained just a threat, a counter and repeat.
"Whatever. Just don't lump me together with this monster."
The atmosphere around them changed in an instant as these words left his mouth. Suddenly she standing in front of him, bowing down slightly to meet his eyes.
"A monster, hmmm?"
Her hand reached and her gloved index finger just stopped in front of his forehead, just an inch away from touching him. He looked at her, confused by her action.
"You have seriously no idea what a monster is, haven't you? She is an aragami, yes, but that doesn't make her a monstrosity. Or…" She threw him a teasing smirk. "Are you just itching to kill her because you are a God Eater and she is an aragami? Does that meant that you have to kill her?"
Lucifer chuckled.
"Why would you harm something that doesn't even attack you? Or does it irritate you that aragami can look human as well? Whatever the reason, don't get me wrong. I will kill her when she becomes a threat."
"How about you? Are you ready to kill something human like with your own two hands?" He said nothing, starring at her, eyes flickering with annoyance as he slapped her hand away. She had touched a point, a wound and she almost gleefully dug her fingernails into it. It was his punishment for using the word so carelessly.
"Maybe you are just scared that you saw something similar to yourself?" His glare indicated that the only thing he would maul to death, wasn't the girl but the woman standing in front of him.
Soma growled deeply like an animal backed into a corner as he noticed that sadistic enjoyment that flickered over her dead eyes. The glimmer was short-lived and soon replaced by something else. Suddenly she seemed like she was looking through him, almost lost.
Then she kept silent for what it seemed for an eternity, before she chuckled again.
"Easy there...Death God. Just try to accept the situation for now. There is no need to lose your nerve over something like this. When the time comes, I might take your place…Just when I feel like it."
She retreated from him, her smirk vanishing as she directed her head to the end of the hallway. Her eyes narrowed again and this time she grimaced. Without sparring him another glance she started to walk away.
"Where are you going?"
It made her freeze in her motion and turning her head back to him.
"Hunting."
"Alone?"
"What? Are you worried?" A weak teasing smirk moved over lips and he snorted.
"When hell freezes over. Do what the hell you like."
"Will do, wild do, dear Death God. And remember. What isn't a threat, doesn't need to be killed."
Although she was sure that this specific aragami would turn into a threat in one way or another. The doctor had been searching for her for a specific reason and the request that they weren't allowed to talk about it, made it all more suspicious.
He was hiding the girl from someone.
If he did something like that for pure study-purposes, he wouldn't be so prepared and careful.
Suddenly she felt a little at unease when she thought that she left an aragami girl which was in her eyes still a child, in the hands of a scientist. It wasn't like she assumed that all scientists were a little bit too eager to uncover secrets and broke basic moral rules with their curiosity but she didn't really want to think what some of them did to people for the sake of the God Eater project.
After all, even the director himself more or less doomed his own son to be a living experiment and to a life as aragami slayer.
As matters stood, the director and the doctor weren't on the same side. The question why exactly he was against Schicksal was hard to grasp. It may be this ill tension between them ever since the Managarm project but it felt like she was just scratching the surface.
Lucifer suppressed the urge to hit her head on something hard as her mind suddenly revolved around itself and produced more and more questions. Some things was missing, especially the reason why Lindow had to die. It didn't get easier when she considered that she now was hiding a human-like aragami in the den.
The woman sighed deeply as she leant herself against the railing, looking down over the main hall and watching the God Eaters going on with their daily lives. As per usual, Tatsumi, the leader of the defence unit was courting Hibari and tried to score a date with her. This would be as successful as his other attempts.
Suddenly, on the second table to the right a blonde and a boy with red hair began to quarrel loudly, drawing her attention to it. The taller blonde – she guessed his name was Karel – rolled his eyes as Shun boasted that he was a much better God Eater than him. When the discussion shifted to their respective tactics their 'discussion' got more fired up and the third sitting beside them, Brendan, tried his best to calm them down.
Brendan was one of the more pleasant people to be around on missions. He was calm, level-headed and had a good technique with his buster blade. She even copied some moves from him although she preferred the long blade. Maybe she could steal him for a mission today.
A throbbing pain shot through her skull and made her grimace. In her mind she could see 'Hiro' laughing at her as if he knew that his thoughts would tease her, anger her and everything she could do at this moment was to jus growl and sit it out.
"Yo!"
The cheery voice behind her made her jerk involuntarily and her head snapped to the side to see Kota standing there who threw her a look that didn't mean anything good.
"Are you spacing out again?" She rolled her eyes. "Not this again... I'm fine...Just got a headache from all the things that happening right now."
"Are you sure? Should I call Sakuya to get you to the..."
"...Shouldn't you be on your way to your family?" The woman interrupted him quickly before he got any stupid ideas that would get her in trouble with a certain medic.
"How do you know about..?"
"I'm your Leader and I am responsible for our mission plans. Of course, I'm informed about your little family visit."
To be specific, she didn't really know that he visited his family. The doctor had asked if he was needed at the moment and if it was alright to give him some vacation. The idea of with his family was just a lucky guess to direct the conversation elsewhere than her mental condition.
"Yeah, that kinda makes sense. So, what are you doing today?"
She shrugged. "Doing missions, writing reports...The usual I would say."
"Man, do you ever take some time off? Life isn't just about this job, you know. I mean, your family and friends would be glad to see you still alive and kicking."
The thought of acquaintances caring for her was ironic to the very core of its meaning. The only person who would be glad that she was still alive would be 'Hiro' but just because he considered her a useful pawn. Other people she had known would just flat out accept her death with a shrug or would simply ignore her demise.
Lucifer chuckled and her glace trailed off in the distance.
"I don't have a family."
"You...don't have...? Do you mean...?" In this moment she almost hit herself as soon as the words left her mouth. She had forgotten that it wasn't unusual here to still have parents.
"To be honest, I don't know exactly who my parents were, but as far as I do know, I'm an orphan." She corrected herself, seeing that the damage was already done.
"I'm...sorry to hear that." He muttered.
"Don't be. No use in crying over persons I don't know."
There was a long uncomfortable silence until her eyes trailed off to something he held in his left hand.
"What's that?" With a nod she directed his attention to it. "That?" He opened his fist to show her a little doll which oddly resembled him.
"My little sister made it. A good luck charm for battle." Kota seemed to be very proud about this but at least this conversation didn't revolve around this favourite series.
"She always asks me to tell her stories about my job. I hope I have bought enough souvenirs this time." He paused. "Hey, want to come with me next time? My mother already asked to bring some of my friends."
"I don't think that I'm the right choice for that. Ask Alisa."
"Oh, come on, she would be really happy to meet the badass, cunning, noble leader of the first unit."
"What the... What did you tell her about me?" He grinned, almost mischievously and she smirked lightly. His smiles could be contagious sometimes.
"Just the truth." The word 'noble' couldn't be further from the truth than the sun and moon were. She looked down at the others and another moment of silence went past them.
"You know…Do you think the Aegis-Project will end all this?"
"Ends what?"
"The danger from the aragami? Creating a peaceful world? That stuff like that…" Lucifer stayed silent for a minute, thinking about her answer as her eyes traced over him. She was tempted to say no or that she didn't care, but he looked distant and serious which was highly unusual.
"…It could."
He beamed at her words.
"I believe in it. I want to see my family without worrying about food and aragami, you know."
"That is your reason why you became a God Eater? Noble intentions."
"Yeah...Hey, you still didn't answer my question yesterday. Wanna make a Bugarally-Marathon when I get back?"
"You will never stop asking, won't you?"
"Awww, come on, it is really good."
Lucifer looked at him with a frown.
"When you can convince Tsubaki that I have to do less paperwork, I might consider it."
"Is that a promise?"
"Consider it as one. And when you visit your sister you should ask her for more charms. You clearly will need more of them."
Kota grinned brightly. "Finally! You won't be disappointed!" Then the second sentence sunk into his mind. "...Wait...What's that supposed to mean?!"
She chuckled to herself as she moved down the stairs to the mission corner. "Ah, nothing in particular." "Hey, just don't leave like that!"
The woman ignored him and directed her attention to the girl at the mission corner who began to frown.
"Another mission, I assume?"
"Like always, Hibari...Like always."
Lucifer licked over her dry lips, curling them up into a gentle smile. Black blood splattered on her feet as she pulled her weapon out of the gashing wound of a cocoon maiden. Behind her were corpses of multiple smaller aragamis which made the simple mistake of being at the wrong time, in the wrong place.
A familiar tingle moved up her neck. Something big was approaching her. Out of the corner of her vision a sharp object flew towards her and she stepped back, so it barely missed her torso, burying itself deep into the soil right before her feet.
The scorpion like aragami screeched as she dodged its right claw which was coming at her. Her eyes lit up, the green beginning to glow as her smile spread and turned into a grin. For her, just missing death by a heartbeat, by a simple step was a quite thrilling sensation and she let herself fall into it. Quickly she slid under the aragami, calling forth the beast inside her blade and ripping out a part of its legs. The Borg Calmann screamed again, tossing, moving around in an attempt to squish her with one of his still healthy legs. Lucifer simply sidestepped them, memorizing its pattern to find a moment to attack again.
It felt like she was dancing to the sound of battle.
And she was enjoying every minute she got off it. There were no other unit members she had to take care off, no nagging voices to call her back, calling her insane for her style. Most of the time, she listened to them and railed her abilities back in favour of them being quiet for once.
But it made her feel chained, not to act on her full strength and range of skills, despite how dangerous they might be. In the end, she missed just the feeling of diving into the abyss, head first without knowing if she could even fly. She wanted to be tested to her limits and even beyond that.
The only way she could it was fighting what was stronger than her and beat it into submission with her skills, her speed and her wit. She jumped atop of the aragami, swinging her blade at the needle like tip of its tail before she moved around it, attacking here and there with heavy swings. The armour began to break under the constant onslaught while Lucifer gave it no ground to even escape.
It still tried to retreat only to trigger one of her traps she had laid out in advance. The woman chuckled.
The aragami was doomed the very moment as it had entered her field. Just as many humans had been in her life.
"Do you enjoy your little fight?"
She froze for a moment as a familiar voice echoed through her head and was almost pierced by the needle of the angered aragami. With a curse, she tried to get higher ground to avoid its rampage and to check if she didn't hear wrong.
"Mammon…?"
"Alive and doing well...just as you it seems. Besides…you seem like in the middle of training."
This time she was sure it wasn't the voice inside her head. The answer was too specific to be a product of her messed up mind. And with that assumption, she unleashed her built up annoyance at him.
"What in the fucking depths of hell are you doing here?!"
"Oh, now, now. No cussing. You are a lady, don't forget that."
"Don't..." Lucifer paused as she blocked the swinging tail of the scorpion with her shield, sending her flying against a pile of ruins.
"Don't what?"
"Don't dodge my question! Why are you..." She rolled away before the needle could pin her body to the ground again.
"Oh, I was just bored and hacked into the communication system. The people I know are so boring…"
Just his voice made her blood boil, but he never contacted her when it wasn't important.
"I don't have the time for your games. So spill it already."
"That isn't like you...You were always so patient. Is something wrong?"
"Just an Aragami that is trying to rip me into shreds."
"That's all? Do you remember the one mercenary corps that was out for our heads? We still had time to talk while…cleaning up a bit."
"Ha. At least at that time I didn't have to deal with your insanity inside my mind as well."
"And you think I can deal with that easier? By all means, I know I can be bloodthirsty sometimes but you are not better, despite trying to be a little bit 'cleaner' and your preference for stronger opponents. I didn't even feel satisfied after ten kills because it wasn't really challenging. My colleagues tried to chain me on a bed in the sickbay because I enjoyed fighting a little too...much and I'm banned from mission for the next week because I ignored orders and my superior would like me to meet a therapist and..."
"Mammon...For god's sake. Spill. It. Now!" She hissed as she again sneaked under its feet and made her prey tumble.
"Fine. Fine. You know…I just thought this might interest you: Your director paid mine a little visit. They were talking about tickets."
This made her frown.
"Tickets for what?"
"Don't ask me, but don't worry, I have my own little guy to take care of through that." He whistled. "You don't want to know how many skeletons he has in his closet. Hey, that girl, Alisa, is in your group, isn't she? He permitted the treatment of her."
"Do me a favor and make him suffer for it."
"Humiliating, messy or slow?"
The aragami shrieked in the background as she thrust her sword into its flesh to make it silent.
"You know how I like it." She paused as her eyes began to glow more vividly. "Don't kill him. Break him."
"My, sometimes you are even crueller than me. But your wish is my pleasure. In exchange I demand to know what your director is exactly planning. I don't really like other hunters in my turf and especially if my director is also involved."
"Deal."
"It is always a pleasure doing business with you. Just to give you a bonus, I sent you a little message... Maybe it will help you."
Suddenly the line went dead and another voice took its place.
"Leader of the First Unit, do you copy?" It was female this time.
"Yeah, Hibari. What is it?" She tried not to sound too annoyed. Nobody had to know what Hiro, no, Mammon had done to contact her. Hacking wasn't a business that could be waved off just like that.
"Finally! The communication system shut down for a moment and..."
"I'm fine. Just finished the job."
"I'm relieved to hear that. I will send a chopper immediately."
"Thanks." She looked at the aragami before her, her thoughts trailing off to what Mammon meant.
"A message..." Something about how he literally forced this piece of information on her, made it suspicious. He wouldn't sell information of that magnitude that cheap unless it contained something that made even him alarmed and cautious. He would never admit it but he only did that if he was threatened to be killed for it and with telling her, assured that this piece of information wouldn't go down the drain with his death.
Her eyes narrowed as she flipped her phone open and looked at the simmering symbol of a closed envelope. She took a deep breath before she opened it.
There was no sender and the words looked as if they were in disarray.
Just two sentences seemed to make some sort of sense to her.
"Some shields aren't built just to protect. Attack is sometimes the best defence after all."
Her eyebrows wrinkled.
"Shield…?" She couldn't remember to ever have heard something about a shield concerning this whole messed up matter. The only thing that might have something to do with Lindow's death may be the Aegis project but she had too little information to proof this theory.
The realization hit her so hard she almost dropped her God Arc and her phone.
"The Aegis…It's a shield." She stared blankly at the dissolving corpse of the aragami. Her mind recalled the conversation with Kota she just had earlier. "Against aragami."
The corners of her lips trembled and her body began to shiver. An onslaught of chuckles rumbled through her chest as she covered her eyes with her gloved hand.
"It's a weapon. He is building a giant weapon! This proud little bastard!"
It made more sense to her. The director was trying to annihilate the threat, not even trying to ward it off. His hatred against aragami had driven him to sacrifice his own son for experiments and now the same man was going to jump unto the next level of insanity and was building a weapon that was powerful enough to erase the existence of aragami as a whole. Even if it didn't work, it could be still dangerous, especially of how Mammon reacted to this.
He was ready to kill to keep it secret which only meant that this weapon just could be devastating on more than just one level. The thought of the possible outcome was chilling and entertaining her at the same time. First she needed more information and would better look that this man wouldn't get his hands onto this new toy too soon.
Lucifer started to smile, eyes glowing slightly in delight.
"Hmm…How much would it hurt you when I steal and destroy this little project of yours, my dear prey?"
