Chapter Twelve
"Aaron, she wants to have the name we gave her."
"That's wonderful news. Are we ready?"
"Yes more than ready, Dad."
"I love hearing that."
"It feels weird saying it but I love it." Christy said as Hotch opened the door for them. "Are you going to look for the baby and return it to his mother?"
"I would like that."
"Please find him. I don't want to happen to him what happened to me and others."
After arranging with the hospital about the bills he headed back to the precinct. They congratulated him about his daughter and then they started talking about the case. Morgan and Emily were going to question Doctor Morrison, the Doctor from the hospital. Rossi and Hotch where going to question the Unsub. The Unsub had figure out that knew she was alone. They were arguing about something he couldn't figure out. Hotch asked him who he had seen arguing Doctor Smith and the two nurses. He followed one of them. The Unsub answered all the questions Hotch and Rossi had for him. Before exiting the room Rossi let him know that the nurse was right. His nephew wasn't the first one that the girl he shot was one of their victims.
"How did it go in there?" Hotch asked Morgan and Emily.
"He's willing to cooperate." Morgan replied.
"He says he has a list of what child went with who." Prentiss added.
Hotch sent Morgan and Prentiss to the Doctor office and look where he said the list was there. Hotch had to make a call. He needed a judge order to dig up the grave of what he thought his daughter was and know who she really was. Hotch was granted the permission and he began to work on it. Emily and Morgan returned with the list in their hands. They needed to start contacting the families. Emily told him that the baby that they gave JJ was indeed a stillborn baby but that the mother didn't want the baby and since she was a minor and the Mother didn't permit an abortion.
He was about to call JJ when he saw them entering the building. Christy hadn't stop talking about the baby and was asking if they had found the Mother. Hotch replied that they did but the Mom didn't want to keep the baby. There was silence. Everyone noticed that she was deep in thought. There were just waiting to see what she was going to say. Christy said that the Mother needed to know what had really happened to her baby. JJ and Christy left. She was more like JJ than him. The team started calling the persons from the list. He dialed the number of the Attorney General.
A few hours later the people from the list started arriving. He put them all together in the room. They began to ask why they were called. Hotch informed them of their situation that they had adopted a child illegally.
"Did you know that one of the mothers had just lost her husband in war and her child taken from her arms?" Reid asked.
"Is that related to the recent murders?" A lady asked.
"So that means you watch TV." Reid answered sarcastically.
Hotch called Reid out. They were all involved because of JJ but they need to be objective and he asked her if he could be and he answered him that he could. They walked back inside and Reid a little more calmed. Hotch explained that due to the laws in Pennsylvania dealing with fraud they could only go back two years. Reid asked them if they felt something was wrong if they had questioned. They replied that a Judge was involved. Hotch stormed out of the room and headed directly into the interrogation room where the Doctor was.
"Is someone involved in your side job?" Hotch asked giving the Hotch glare.
"Yes. Judge John Brown." Morrison said.
Hotch called a Judge to see if he could sign a court order. The judge was astonished to what was happening. The judge signed the court order and sent it to Hotch. Hotch walked into the room and asked Rossi to go with him. Rossi and Hotch headed towards the courthouse, turned on the sirens and parked the SUV right in front of the courthouse. They showed their credentials to the police officers and headed inside.
"The court is in session. You can't just barge in." Judge Brown said to Hotch and Rossi.
"This is SSA Aaron Hotchner and I'm SSA David Rossi."
"Judge John Brown, you are under arrest for black market adoption." Hotch said and opened the brown door.
Rossi read him his Miranda rights. Everyone in the court was in silence. Hotch arrested the Judge.
"You have no proof."
They took him to the Police Department. He said he wasn't talking without a lawyer. Hotch left the interrogation room and told someone to put a phone in there. He walked to the room where they had the adoptive parents and asked for a copy of the adoptions. They all had theirs. He checked them. He walked back to the interrogation room when he had been notified that the lawyer was there.
"I don't need him to talk just to listen. I have proof that you were dealing with black market adoptions."

JJ showed Christy what she and her parents had prepared for her. She didn't get to see her walk her first steps, heard her first words. Those moments were stolen from her. Christy asked her if she ever went back JJ replied that after she knew that he was no longer there and after her pregnancy. JJ's phone began to ring. She answered it. JJ told Hotch that she was showing Christy the room. The Judge in charge had already set the court date. They would need to come back and testify. JJ noticed that he had something else.
"You want to talk to your daughter?" JJ asked.
"Yes." Hotch said.
"Wait." JJ said. "Christy, your Dad wants to talk to you."
Christy got the phone. "Hi Dad."
She gave them a little of privacy. She couldn't still believe that she had her baby with her. She felt like she was dreaming and any moment the dream might end. Moments later Christy came back with the phone in her hand. JJ noticed that she was getting tired. She needed to sleep and rest. The day had been long and tough. Christy did what she was told to do. They entered JJ's old room. JJ fixed her the bed and stayed there until Christy closed her eyes. Hotch arrived few minutes later.
"The biological mother of whom we thought was our child showed up after we got her information. She said that the following day she called the Doctor because she wanted her daughter and he told her that he couldn't do it because the laws of Pennsylvania didn't permit that."
"I've seen it and I still can't believe how greed can change your life. What's going to happen now?"
"The General Attorney will work on something. The biological mother said she will keep the name we gave the child in honor of your love for her child but change the last name to her."
His phone began to ring.
"Hotchner."
JJ was about to get away when he stopped her from doing so.
"Thank you Sir. Good day to you too."
"What happened?" JJ asked.
"They're reversing her death certificate. We can actually can go back home with our daughter."
JJ heard the words but she still couldn't believe it. Hotch had to repeat the words to her. Minutes later Elise woke up and JJ explained to her that they could go to D.C. They began to get ready to head back to D.C. They would be flying with Hotch and the team in the jet. The three of them said their goodbyes and left. Hotch and JJ discussed about Christy's prior education. Christy was so excited about the jet but just as they boarded and saw everyone there she became silent.
"You know what you're Mom told me the first time we met?" Hotch asked.
"What did she say?" Christy asked as she was getting comfortable in the seat.
"She didn't talk to strangers and she stormed inside." Hotch said.
"Technically you were a stranger and I was five." JJ replied.
Christy giggled. The rest of the team smiled at the fact that Hotch and JJ had their girl with them. The pilots alerted them that they were ready to depart to put on their seatbelts. It was Christy first time in an airplane. Once in air the team began to remove their seatbelts. She looked at JJ and JJ nodded.
"I keep forgetting you're from Vegas." Emily stated as she lost to Reid again.
"If you don't remember I've been banned from all the casinos from Vegas." Reid replied.
"I got banned from the Pittsburg Library." Christy replied.
"You got banned from a library how?" Reid asked.
"I got into words with the head librarian. I was passing by through the children's section and I heard her tell the story of Columbus and how he was looking for new land to conquer. I told her that he was in route to India and he got lost with the currents."
"She just banned you for that?" Emily asked.
"No." She replied and turned red. "I told her she needed to go back to school to learn history before she teaches children."
"You've got some smart girl." Rossi said trying to stifle a laugh.
"That she got from Aaron." JJ replied.
The pilots alerted them again that the plane was about to land to put the seatbelts again. They did. After they landed they said goodbye to the team and headed home. Once home JJ prepared the futon for Christy and told her that they were in the process of looking for a bigger home. The fun part would be telling the kids about Christy. She still didn't know how they would do it.
"Momma, who is she?" Jack said the following morning as he noticed Christy in the table.
She didn't know how to answer. Hotch was with the twins. Christy got up from the chair and walked towards Jack.
"Hi. I'm Christy." She said. "Jack, Momma and Daddy were together long before your Mommy came into the picture. I'm their daughter just like Corena and the twins are. I was kept away from them because a bad lady told lies to Momma. She told them I was dead."
"So you're my sister?" Jack asked.
