Chapter 12
"I can't find him," Raphael muttered as he appeared in front of the other two archangels.
"What do you mean you can't find him?" Michael asked.
"I checked everywhere, every time period. He just isn't there. Is it possible that he-"
"No! Don't even think it!" Lucifer shouted, standing in front of them and looking at them dangerously, "He's probably found a way to cloak himself."
They looked at each other, having silent conversations amongst themselves. They couldn't give up on their brother, none of them could. But, it wasn't looking good for him, he should have just landed on earth.
They also weren't entirely sure how he'd managed to hide himself from them. Surely he couldn't have found a way already.
"I'll look for him myself if I have to," Lucifer told them, "I won't tolerate the humans standing in my way."
He turned from them disappeared.
As Raphael prepared to do the same Michael grabbed his shoulder.
"I want you to keep a watchful eye on Lucifer," he told the young archangel hastily.
"But why?"
"I'm concerned about his mental state. He hasn't been the same since father created the humans and he's been growing increasingly unstable with each year. We can't risk him doing something ridiculous," Michael told him before letting go of Raphael's shoulder and flying to his look out space.
Raphael stood there for a couple of minutes. He didn't believe that anything would go wrong with Lucifer. He loved his family, too much, some might say and Raphael truly believed that he wouldn't do anything to harm them. Yet, Michael clearly had an issue with it.
He shook the thoughts out of his head an left to find Lucifer.

It wasn't the same without Gabriel. To Castiel, all the progress he'd made with his brothers left with Gabriel. They'd still ask him to join in their game of tig or hide and seek; but, without Gabriel he didn't know if he wanted to.
He would sit atop the hill, under the tree searching desperately for Gabriel. He never found him. It had only been a couple of weeks but to him, it felt like years of solitude. He didn't want to play, he didn't want sing, he wanted to find Gabriel.
"Erm... Cass," Balthazar muttered as he walked up to the boy and stood in front of him.
Castiel looked up with an exhausted expression. His usually crystal clear blue eyes were clouded and didn't dance like they used to. His posture, usually smart and upright, wasn't. He was slumped against the tree unable to sit up on his own. He looked drained.
Balthazar moved and sat beside him, sitting close so he could catch him if he had to. It looked as though he might.
"Do you want to come and play with us? It's hide and seek, we make an amazing pair."
Castiel sighed. He'd been ask roughly the same question multiple times over the past couple if weeks. He'd say no and they'd call him boring and storm off. He was expecting Balthazar to be worse. When Gabriel left he said something without thinking and he was sorry.
"No, thank you," Castiel muttered tiredly, still keeping a little look out for Gabriel in his head.
He felt the boy move a little closer to him and place a hand on his own.
"Castiel, I know how you feel about Gabriel leaving," Balthazar began, squeezing his friends hand gently and looking at him concerned, "But, looking for him everyday without rest isn't going to help. If he wanted to be found our brothers would have found him by now."
Castiel knew Balthazar had a point but, he didn't want to believe that he was gone and that he wasn't going to come back.
"Please Cassy," Balthazar said, placing his other hand in the boys shoulder, "Stop hurting yourself."
Castiel opened his eyes weakly to look at his friend and they filled with tears.
"I don't want him to be gone," he whispered, broken and quiet.
Tears meandered down his cheek as he let all of the emotions he'd kept to himself free and collapsed into his friends open arms.
Balthazar held him tightly and rocked the younger angel gently. He knew that Gabriel leaving had hit him hard but this wasn't what he'd expected. Castiel never showed his emotions but this crumpled angel snuggled and crying into his chest was different. He didn't know how he could have kept everything in for so long but, now that it was out, he knew that Castiel wasn't that different from everyone else.
"Whenever you need anyone to talk to, I'm here," Balthazar told him laying down onto the crowd and placing Castiel's head on his chest.
"I'm sorry Balthazar, thank you," Castiel muttered softly before falling to sleep out of pure exhaustion.
Balthazar couldn't imagine how drained his friend must have felt after looking for Gabriel for two weeks. He just laid back and let his brother rest.

"Brother?" Zachariah asked Lucifer.
Lucifer was sat at the edge of the clouds, much as he usually did as Zachariah approached.
"Yes, Zachariah. What do you want?" He asked looking behind the boy where all the other young angels were stood.
"We were wondering if you'd like to play with us."
Lucifer looked at him, a little surprised. He'd never be asked to play with them since his father had disappeared. Gabriel ha always been the one to entertain them. But, since Gabriel had left, he supposed he would have to try and take his younger brothers place.
"Sure," he smiled looking at the all and holding a hand out for the boy so they could walk together.
"Let's all play hide and seek!" The man called as he got to the group of children.
They all cheered as Lucifer covered his eyes and began to count. They scattered in every direction, hiding in bushes and under seats.
"Ready or not, here I come!" Lucifer shouted, spinning round in search of his siblings.
He soon heard the muttering of Uriel and Zachariah from inside a bush not far from where he'd been counting.
"This is really fun," Zachariah whispered to his brother.
"Yeah, do you think that our brothers and sisters on earth would like to play?" Uriel asked, smiling at his brother.
Zachariah never had a chance to answer as Lucifer ripped through the bush.
"Never call them our family!" He yelled, rage lacing his tone and hardening his facial features, "They aren't our family!"
The two boys moved away terrified as rage engulfed their brother before their eyes
