Today Tony was worse then he had been before.
Worse then his thirty-four hour mental break.
And he wasn't doing anything.
The only thing he was doing was sitting in the middle of Loki's room with a ironman figure clutched in his hands and he was mumbling to himself.
The avengers found him like that early in the mourning, at about seven. Jarvis had told him that he had been there for at least six hours.
They watched him from the door for a while.
His back was turned to them and they all assumed that he hadn't noticed them standing there.
That idea was thrown out the window though when he spoke a little louder.
He said, "His first word was sorry."
The avengers were all a little confused, and Steve asked, "What do you mean Tony?"
He turned to look at them.
He looked so hopeless. His face streaked with tear stains and his hair was a mess.
He said, "After I had been raising him for five months when he said it. It wasn't a word he would have heard in my house. But that was what he said, at that age he didn't have PTSD, he was like any normal baby, besides the fact he turned blue when he was cold. I had been so surprised, it was so soft and sincere, despite the fact he was so small. I think he knew. I think he knew that he had done something terrible and he was truly sorry. At that time I had constantly been debating whether to turn him over to SHELD. At that moment though I knew I wouldn't, that was the first time I really thought of him as my son."
By that time Tony was crying again, new tears streaming down his face.
"He would be six in a week, but I lost him. He'll be gone, theres nothing I can do." He choked on the last few works and his crying thickened.
Everyone as surprised when Clint was the first to reply, saying, "He will be six in a week."
Everyone starred at him, he continued, "Your son will turn six in one week Tony, and your going to see it happen. We will find him before then."
Tony shook his head violently.
"We'll find him, but I won't see it. He's going to Asgard with Thor. That was the deal."
At the end of that sentence Thor turned around and head down the hall, ignoring the questioning looks of the other avengers.
Tony turned back to the doll in hands and repeated, "That was the deal."
It's wasn't long after that when the avengers left him to be.
He needed this time.
They didn't see Thor anywhere in the tower, but he could be almost anywhere so they didn't worry.
The scientist and Darcy went to Bruce's lab, they went back to searching with new vigor.
Hours later they Bruce came up looking exhausted but still full of hopeful energy.
The avengers swarmed him demanding to know if he had found something.
He replied, "We located a signal matching Loki's Magic frequency, It's in New York,"
"we've got to tell Tony!" Clint said, But Steve quickly replied, "And if it isn't Loki? Can you image how he would react if we gave him hope like this and it turned out to be something else? It would destroy his confidence, and possibly drive him to even more irrational behaviors."
Sense seeing Tony in Loki's room no one had seen all assumed that he had went back to Asgard, ether feeling guilty or not wanting to deal with the unavoidable disapproving conversations that were assured if he stayed.
That left Clint and Natasha flying a quinjet to the scene of the transmission, Steve and bruce were their as well, but they had all agreed not to tell Tony about it, that way if it turned out not to be true he would never know, and if it was then they could bring home his son safe and sound.
If anything were to go wrong the scientist and Darcy know where they went.
They headed to the source of the magic.
It was in central park, witch was vague but it was more then any of them had gotten in days.
Luckily it wasn't some busy city block where it would be impossible to hide the quinjet.
They landed and got out, searching all over for any sign of Loki.
The first to find anything was no other then Clint.
He had been jumping through the treetops scanning the surroundings for anything. Then he saw a child's figure sitting at a bench in front of a large fountain, the figure had dark hair and was wearing a green hoodie.
That lead to Clint making a conclusion.
He jumped down from his perched and walked over to the bench, in full view.
He called out, "Loki?"
The figure didn't answer, nor did it move in the slightest bit.
That was when Clint started to get a bit suspicious, he stopped next to the bench.
Reaching out to put a hand on the child's shoulder, but he found that instead of landing on a solid body it went right through and the body flickered and disappeared.
He quickly turned in a circle scanning everything around him, His eyes landed on a smirk that haunted his nightmares.
Bright white teeth in a evilly mischievous grin, green eyes and pale skin completed the face.
It wasn't the face of a young happy Loki, but that of the fully grown god of mischief.
Clint starred at it, trying to convince himself it wasn't real.
But this figure moved forward, towards him, he was frozen in his place though.
There was something about this figure that didn't seem right though, there seemed to be something missing from it's expression.
There was an evil laughed emitted from this Loki, But it sounded dry, and as he finally realized...
... HA HA Cliffhanger!...
Everyone heard the scream, even without the intercom they would have.
All of them rushed in that direction.
What they found though was Clint's bow and quiver, something clint never left behind in a place like this. Or any other place unless he was a hundred percent certain he wouldn't need them.
Everything was seriously wrong with this image.
They spent a few more hours out their trying to figure it out, but there was nothing they could do.
If Clint was able he would have told them were he was or what was wrong, but his com was dead, and they were missing their archer as well as Tony's son.
It was making them wish that they had stayed together.
What on earth could have stolen one of the most deadly people on the planet? The only logical answer was something from out of this world.
