Everyone, thank you for waiting patiently for chapter 12. After my mom's passing and getting caught up with school work, it's been a tough few weeks. The fall semester is finally done and I am slowly getting geared up for next semester. Hopefully it will not take me away from writing future chapters. There are more chapters to come every two weeks on Thursday. Happy Holidays! - S
THEN:
Dean drove out of the parking lot with Mara motorcycle trailing behind him. When they reached the main highway Mara switch to the lane next to Dean's car and turned helmet toward him. He looked over and gave her thumbs up. She replied the same way. The next thing Dean saw was the two women on the Japanese motorcycle suddenly taking off like a rocket on the road. He whistled knowing she must have gone at least 95 miles an hour flying past the few cars that were in front of him. They disappeared from his range of sight ahead of him. "Man she's fast. I hope they will not end up being squid on the highway. Kuryiel probably cloaked both of them so the cops will not clock them for going so fast." Dean looked in the rearview mirror at Castiel. "Hey aren't you concerned about her being on the highway like that?"
Castiel looked at Dean's eyes through the rearview mirror. "I have confidence she will be alright. Since I have a part of her grace I have her memories of her riding motorcycles. She even rode on a race track to go fast as she wanted. If something happens on the road she will remove herself and Mara from harm."
Dean changed lanes on the highway to drive past a slow pickup truck. "Oh I forgot she can zap out anytime. Yeah I guess it would not be an issue." Dean nudged Sam after he noticed his brother was dozing off in the passenger seat. "Hey where is the music you burned for me recently. You got your shot to hear something that we both like."
Sam dug in the glove compartment and handed Dean a CD. "Here you go. I am so glad you are giving us a break from the oldies rock."
Dean placed the CD in the player. He scoffed feeling insulted. "First of all, it's not oldies rock. You don't hear that on an oldies station. Second, the rock songs never go out of style so get over it."
The three drove down the long stretch of highway heading back to the bunker.
NOW:
The men arrived in Lebanon, Kansas. Dean was exhausted from the long drive. He looked at Sam and feeling envious watching is brother snoring lightly in the passenger seat next to him. Dean laid his hand on the horn and watch Sam jump in the seat.
"Hey man that wasn't cool." Sam unbuckled his seatbelt and gathered his stuff in the front seat.
"Get out Samantha and greet the girls since they beat us here." Dean pointed at the motorcycle parked inside the garage. He parked his baby behind the mean looking bike. "It's a good thing this garage is huge." Dean reached cut the ignition off and swiveled his head toward the back seat. "Cas could you give m-" He heard a flap of wings and realized the angel vanished out of his car. "Thanks a lot for helping you feathered Dick!" Dean shouted in frustration.
Castiel zapped into the living room and saw the two ladies sitting in front of the TV. Kuryiel rose from the sofa to give Castiel a hug. "Hi Cas, I missed you." She kissed him on the lips. Castiel brushed his hand over Kuryiels dark soft hair. "I missed you too angel lady." She smiled broadly and kissed him on the lips again.
Mara watched the scene and it was crystal clear these two people in front of her were in love. She felt that she was interfering with their intimate moment together. She got up from the sofa. "Hey you two. Why don't I go to the kitchen to get something for everyone to….um nibble on."
"You don't have to run off because of us." Kuryiel moved away from Castiel reaching for his hand to sit him down on the sofa. "Cas why don't you find something good on TV while Mara and I make a light snack."
"Ok. Dean and Sam will be in here in a few minutes. They are probably taking the weapons out of the trunk." Castiel sat back with the remote in his hand.
The ladies walked to the kitchen and a couple of minutes later the brothers appeared with a duffel bag. "Wow I guess some of your old human behavior stuck with you Mr. Lazy. I really appreciate all your help earlier." Dean plopped down on the sofa.
"Sorry Dean. I wanted to see Kuryiel to make sure she was ok. I was not thinking about helping you guys unpack the trunk."
"Well next time buddy don't forget us guys here. We help each other out. So next time keep your love hormones in check until we unpack our hunting gear."
"Dean I don't have issues with hormones. I was checking to see how the women were doing." Castiel looked earnest.
"What ever you say." Dean rose from the sofa. "Anyway, I am going to get a bite to eat in the kitchen."
Castiel watched his friend walk away and turned his head back to the TV changing channels.
Kuryiel was cutting the a bushel of broccoli into smaller bite size pieces and placed in on a platter with baby carrots. "Thank you for making the dips."
Mara smiled as she stirred the bowl of spicy ranch dip. "No problem. I am pretty envious you can instantly zap yourself at a grocery store or even better have vegetables appear in your hands." She pointed at the broccoli.
"I guess there's perks to being an angel." Kuryiel chuckled. "I am the only one that eats food."
"You're kidding! I thought all angels ate food since I met you." She looked startled at the woman placing the chopped broccoli on the platter.
"No I'm not kidding. I am a hybrid angel so my sustenance is converted to energy so I don't have to make restroom trips." Kuryiel picked up the platter. She turned around and saw Dean walked into the kitchen.
"Hey perfect timing."
Dean walked up to the ladies checking out the food. "Do you need any help?"
"Sure grab the veggie platter and I'll grab some chips so we can snack in the living room." Kuryiel opened the cabinet and reached for the assorted bags of chips.
Dean walked over to Mara and watched her pour the dip into mini bowls. He was enjoying the view of her tight skinny jeans covering all her curves and other places. She turned her head and noticed Dean checking her out. Out of curiosity she read his thoughts. A moment later Mara gasped registering his thoughts of what she looked like in thongs. She shook her head trying to erase of his image of her in wearing only a thong with high heels from her head.
Dean heard her gasped. "Are you ok?" He watched her wondering why she was shaking her head briefly as she stirred the dip in an aggressive manner.
"Nothing is wrong. Just stirring to get the lumps out of the dip." She kept stirring trying to get her pulse down to normal. The last thing she needed is to get turned on by the green eyed man standing next to her.
"Yeah right. Nothing my ass. Something rattled her. What is she hiding?" Dean thought to himself as he watched Mara place 4 small bowls of different dips on an old metal tray. He followed her out of the kitchen into the living room where Kuryiel placed a small wooden table near the sofa displaying cut veggies and chips.
Dean set the platter on the table and watched Mara place the dip beside the veggie platter. He looked over at her checking the expression on her face. Mara hid her emotions from earlier by smiling and chatting with Kuryiel. Everyone helped themselves to the food and sat down on the sofa. Dean sat on the straight back chair watching TV. He glanced over at Mara from time to time. Mara eyes shifted the green eyed man feeling Dean's stare, she saw him turn his head quickly towards the TV. When the movie was over Castiel changed the channel to watch the late night news. Mara rose from the sofa looking sleepy.
"Hey everyone I am beat." She yawned and stretched her arms.
"Kuryiel did you put fresh sheets in Keven's old room?" Dean asked Kuryiel as he got up.
Kuryiel smiled "Yes Dean I put fresh sheets on the bed. Since it's Sam's turn to cook breakfast he told me here will be flap jacks in the morning."
Dean pumped his right fist in the air. "Alright! Please make the blueberry flap jacks. Oh man, the last ones were so good."
"You are such a big kid." Kuryiel grabbed Castiel's left hand. "Ready for bed angel man?" She gave him a sultry look and she brushed a finger sensually across his wrist.
Castiel followed her lead. "Yes mam. I can't wait to tuck you in." The couple walked by Dean and Mara as they stood looking at the two angels enthralled with each other.
Dean felt a little jealous of Cas since he has not been in a relationship in a very long time. He steered Mara towards Kevin's door. "Hey if Kevin's room gets too chilly there is a little heater in there you can use." He walked her to the bedroom door.
Mara sensed Dean's feelings of loneliness and a tad bid of jealously. "Thanks for mentioning but I like to sleep in a very cool room. As long as there is a decent blanket to snuggle under then it will be no issue for me."
Dean opened the bedroom door and stood there looking down at the pretty woman with the amber eyes. "Well goodnight. I'll see you in the morning."
Mara glanced up at Dean. The next moment she unexpectedly walked up and put her arms around him. "Thank you for welcoming me to your home." Dean gasped from her sudden action. He put his arms around her in return. Mara sighed and continued. "Even though you think I am a monster, I am grateful that you helped me wipe out those werewolves that killed my family. Tomorrow I will feel totally at peace revenging my family." She stepped back to look at him. "Dean get some rest and I will see you at breakfast tomorrow." Mara walked in her room. She gave Dean a small smile as she gently closed her bedroom door.
Dean exhaled and thought "Damn she felt good in my arms. I wonder if her skin is soft as it looks?" He grinned like a fool and walked back to the living room to see Sam sitting on the couch changing channels.
Sam glanced at Dean seeing the expression on his brother's face. "I know that look bro and she will not be easy to catch. You are going to have to work for this one if you want to be with this pretty lady."
Dean sat next to Sam and snatched the remote from his hand. "Tell me something I don't know. It's going to be fun to try to crack her hard shell. She acts tough but inside she's a sexy teddy bear in thongs."
Sam snickered. "This is the first time you are openly pursuing a non-human woman. After the amazon disaster I thought you don't want to get involved with any monster women again."
Dean sighed. "She is different. There's no hidden agendas. Mara is not trying to eat me or have me breed monster children to kill me in the end. Hell, I am even surprised that I am attracted to her. It's hard to explain but I feel drawn to her."
Sam gaved him a chilled stare and Dean instantly clarified. "I know what you are thinking. It's not like a spell bro. Strange but it feels like being close to someone as if they know me. I don't understand why I feel this way but I do. In the meantime, I hope to get my hands on that hot body of hers." He grinned at Sam and started watching the action movie he picked on TV.
Sam shook his head. "Good luck man. Well you have the TV all to yourself I am heading to bed."
Dean stretched out on the sofa watching an action movie. After a while he drifted off to sleep while the TV was softly playing in the background.
Dean was walking in the woods heading toward a cabin that belonged to Bobby. He opened the door and noticed the kitchen table had a juicy burger. There was also a tall glass of beer sitting next to the plate. Dean walked over to the table out of curiosity and hunger. He took a seat and reached for the burger. There was a slight sound to his left only to see Mara standing there watching him. "What are you doing here?"
She walked up to Dean. "I'm… um just visiting. Looks like a good meal. Aren't you going to have a bite?" She pushed the plate closer to him as he sat there looking at Mara.
"Do you want a bite?" Dean politely asked as he grabbed a knife to cut the burger in half.
She placed her hand on his to put the knife down. "No thank you I am not hungry." Mara sat down across from him watching Dean take a bite of his burger. She attempted to scan his thoughts and amazedly discovered she can read him in a dream state. So far, Dean was wondering why Mara was here and how good the food taste. She did not want to have suspicion of why she was there in his dream and asked. "Where's Sam?"
Dean chewed, looked around to see if there were clues his brother is staying at the cabin and noticed Sam's duffel bag in the corner across the room. "He must be out running errands. I swear that man loves to shop like a girl. One of these days I am going to get him a gift card to Bloomingdales." Dean chuckled.
Mara laughed. "He may take it more of an insult than a gift. If you do that he will definitely get you back for it. So Dean, what do you do when you guys are not hunting monsters?"
Dean shrugged. "Not much just hang out and rest for a while. If we are out of town we check out the diners and bars if we get too bored. Sometimes we get lucky if we leave with a chic…." Dean realized what he said and cleared his throat embarrassed by his admission of meeting women. "I mean meeting someone to date for a short time." He attempted to make it sound like it wasn't recreational sex. Dean glanced at Mara and saw a sad expression on her face.
Mara sat there taking in his admission. She clearly felt and saw the reason behind his changing of his words. Dean only met women under short circumstances so he would not get too close to them. She read his logic behind his actions of meeting women for one night stands. That's one layer she was able to obtain this time around. She probed more and saw images of several females he encountered and it made her feel sad knowing he can be a very caring person. She picked up the last tid bit of his thoughts of his last real relationship. How it ended due to being a hunter and the price he had to pay to let this woman go. Mara sat back staring at Dean. "Well I hope you will not be a hunter til old age. Maybe you want a family of your own someday. There's always hope for the future."
"I guess but I am not going to rely that possible dream. I live in reality and in the now. At this time, it's full of problems with all these angels being on earth and Metatron's keeping heaven locked up." Dean took a swig of his beer.
Mara rose from her chair. "You guys will resolve this. Well I have to go run some errands. Enjoy your time and relax the rest of the day." She walked to the door. "See you later Dean." Mara opened the old cabin door and walked out.
Mara opened her eyes and stared at the concrete wall. She was surprised that she entered Dean's dream subconsciously. She did not plan of doing such a thing but she realized internally that she was curious about the man. Mara rolled on her back and sighed still feeling sleepy. Mentally, she told herself not to enter Dean's dream again for the rest of the night. After a while, Mara fell deeply asleep dreaming she was with her parents explaining she destroyed the werewolf that killed all her loved ones.
