Chapter 12: My Turn

Ginger POV

"Why can't I drive?" I whined.

It was Saturday back on the reservation. Eleanor offered me if I want to join and ride the new bikes. I was ecstatic for I could finally drive the bike, but most importantly…to see him. However, when I asked if I could take the wheel, Eleanor said no.

"Because you don't have a license," I said.

"Yes I do," I countered.

I got my driver's license over the summer so I can drive a vehicle.

"Not a motorcycle license or anything else." She countered.

"And you do?" I challenged.

She told me to grab her wallet and look at her driver's license. I did so and found on her card saying she was qualified in the state of Massachusetts.

"What about Jake?" I asked.

"He has a permit. And since we are riding on a private property on the reservation we are good."

"Damn it," I muttered. "Miss goody-two-shoes."

Eleanor chuckled and focused on the road. She has changed the past year. Last year when I moved to Forks she was…conservative? No…that is a strong word, how about to serious about the Casters secrecy. You couldn't blame her, coming from a powerful family line and the history Casters' went through for a thousand years. Ever since she became friends with Jake and others at school, she was more relaxed. More easily going. More…free.

I wished I wasn't in my zombie state those three months. I wished to see how much I missed these changes. These parties and adventures. And yet, I chose to wallow over him, instead of living my life.

When we arrived at the Black residents, I immediately hugged Jake and stop. Holy shit, did he grow again? I saw him last week, and he has become more buff than ever.

"So Jake, I was wondering…" I started, in a playful voice. "If you can let me ride the bike!"

"Sure, sure," he said.

"Jacob!" Eleanor snapped.

"What?" He asked confused.

"I told her she could ride but not drive." She said.

"So," he countered. "It's not like she can hurt herself."

Eleanor was going to open her mouth to recount all my injured but closed her lips. Yep, I have leverage since all my injuries were supernatural related. Therefore, she can't say anything without exposure. I stuck my tongue out in victory!

Eleanor growled and clicked her tongue. Suddenly my tongue moved under my tongue and no control bit it. I yelped for I bit hard. Okay, I deserved that.

"Let's ride!" I cheered.

We gather the bikes and safety gear. Jake went to inform Billy where we were going before heading out. Eleanor took the red motorcycle, much to my dismay since Red was my favorite color. Then again, the bike Jake had was more on the classy side. So putting on the helmet I got on the back behind him and wrapped my arms around his torso.

"Whoa, Jake, steroids are not good for you." I teased.

Jake laughed, "Working on these bikes gave me a workout."

Eleanor chuckled as she eyed him. Oh man, she did like him. I seriously need to crank my mojo if I'm; going to get these two together because the whole let them have quality time isn't working. Anyway, Jake rep up the bike making it comes alive. The vibrations were going straight into my system stirring up trouble.

I briefly closed my eyes and opened them to see him. The look of disappointment on his face. Shaking my head, he was gone. Sadness consumed me then vanished. No, I will not let him guilt me this time. I will be strong. I so want to see him, but I will not let him guilt me.

We reached the location and stopped. I almost fell off from the sudden lack of motion; luckily Jake caught me in time. A Cheshire grinned kissed my lips as Jake got off the bike and had me in the front. He started going over where the clutch and gears were, brakes, and other important parts.

Before I got the all clear, Eleanor moved to sit behind me.

"Ah man," I whined.

"Think I'll let you drive alone?" She asked.

"You're no fun." I pouted.

Jake laughed, "You two act like sisters."

"Brother, you have no idea," I muttered then drove off.

I drove at a steady speed.

"That's good," Eleanor said, keep it like this.

I nodded. Right now it's about getting to know the bike. Slow and steady, take my time. What the hell, "Let's burn rubber!"

"Ginger!" Eleanor screamed as we went fast.

"This is reckless and childish and idiotic, Ginger." A velvet voice said not belonging to Eleanor.

I don't care.

"Do you want to kill yourself, then? Is that what this is about?"

I grinned widely; it was working. Adjusting the clutch to go faster, that I could feel the wind blowing in my face. The adrenaline was pumping through my veins like acid. The trees blurred into a wall of brown and green. However, he would appear in the ghostly form. Hovering over us then vanished only to reappear again. I was distracted that I didn't see the turn up ahead.

"Brakes, bakes!" Eleanor instructed.

The bike was suddenly unstable; too much speed and the thoughts in how to brake vanished. I tried to steer but no control. Eleanor cursed and took her hands off my waist and grabbed the handlebars. She used her magic and forced the bike to turn sharply as the sound of the bike protest could be heard. The gear shift and clutch moved under my hand and not a moment later we came to a sudden stop.

I panted in shock in how Eleanor did that. I thought her telekinesis was to lift heavy objects, levitate, and create barriers. Never has she used it to stop an object in motion. Turning my head, I saw her panting. She looked exhausted after a longs day work. She used too much magic to make it seem natural with Jake nearby.

"You okay?" I asked.

She nodded, but anger consumed her. "Are you trying to get us killed?"

"Let me try again," I mumbled.

"No. forgets it." She said. "No more bikes."

I bowed my head in shame. Jake gave me the opportunity to ride and with Eleanor supervision and instruction. Today was supposed to be a day of fun; instead, I made it about him. So getting off, I got back on behind her as we head headed back to Jake.

"What happened?" he asked. "You almost hit the rock."

"She messed with the gear shift," Eleanor said. "Almost hit it, though turned on time. "

Jake nodded as he checked the bike to see of its condition. "It looks good to drive back home. I'll double check to see if it needs any tuning."

Eleanor nodded.

"Sorry Jake," I said.

"No problem, but this ain't no bicycle." He said.

I nodded.

"Told you so." The velvet voice murmured, as he appeared to them from behind.

Oh, shut the fuck up. I thought to him.

.o0o.

When we arrived at the cabin, Zelena was in the den reading a book. She looked up and smiled from her seat and spoke, "How were the bikes?"

Eleanor went upstairs and slammed the door to her room.

I winced and looked at Zelena who sighed, "Not good."

She raised a brow and gestured me to sit down next to her. Taking a deep breath, I went over sat down and gazed at the coffee table. Seeing the dents and chipping on the room. The stains from countless times drinks were on it without using a coaster.

"So what happened?" she asked.

I told her what happened, minus him.

She sighed shaking her head. "Ginger, driving a car is one thing, but a bike is another."

"I know," I said.

"Did you know those bikes aren't Eleanor's?" She asked.

"What?" I replied.

"Those bikes are Gideon Rivers," She said. "Eleanor bought them for her father to add to his collection. He gave her and Jacob permission to ride them till graduation. "

"Oh," I said looking down.

Zelena nodded. That could explain how angry Eleanor was and how protective Jake was too. They put so much hard work in restoring those bikes for Mr. Rivers. And here I was trying to be reckless so that I could see my ex-boyfriend again. If my coven sister hasn't used her magic, we would have collided into that rock and the bike could have been damaged.

"You got some kissing up to do," Zelena said.

"No shit," I muttered.

She chuckled tucking a strand of hair off my face, "Get some rest, tomorrow we got training."

"On what?" I asked.

"The basic." She answered. "By the way, Chief Swan called, five hikers went missing, and they still can't find the bear. You and Eleanor need to be careful when out in the woods."

"We can handle ourselves," I said.

"I know, but the unknown is what we fear."

I nodded. So saying later I headed upstairs and went to my room and check my emails. I see a few from my mother checking up on me. But I scan down through history and found none from Alice. I sighed; I desperately wished Alice would reply to my emails. She understood my crazy and how to solve it. With her and the others gone, I feel so alone in the world. Even with my coven sisters and my mom, I still feel incomplete.

I know it's been forever since I last updated this story. I have no excuse. It's just one of those challenges in what do next and other stories to work on. I'll try to update when I can.
