Also everything belongs to Tite Kubo, although I wish I owned it. :)

Toshiro's pov

I dream of a plain of ice...

I feel the presence of "ice"...

I hear a voice...

An echoing voice...

Crushing...

Engulfing...

Resounding into the distance...

Just like Thunder...

"So this is where you were hiding" I looked down from the roof to see my adopted sister, Hinamori Momo, smile and wave at me. I raise my hand to wave back, but she's already turned her back and is running off.

She left for the Academy five years ago. Recently, she's been coming around less often; her hair has grown longer too. I jumped off the roof and caught a glimpse of Ba-chan. My granny has just gotten thinner.

I dream of a plain of ice...

I feel the presence of "ice"...

I hear a voice...

An echoing voice...

Crushing...

Engulfing...

Resounding into the distance...

Just like Thunder...

Brushing up against my hand...

Like a delicate flower...

On that plain of ice, I Die.

Everyone is afraid of me, in town they stare at me. I see it in their eyes, fear, mistrust, alienation. They're frightened by my presence, because I'm different. I never did anything to them, yet there's an all knowing boundary between me and them.

The only ones who aren't afraid of me are Ba-chan, Momo, and Karin.

Maybe it's my silver hair, or my blue green eyes, or maybe it's just the cold way I act, but everyone around here says I'm "just like ice".

Karin and Ba-chan never say that, that's why I like them.

"Ba-chan I'm going to go out and buy some more amanatto, we're running out! I think I'll stop and see Karin at the Fireworks shop too" Granny gives me a few coins and waves goodbye. I rushed to the stall that sold amanatto, I gave the clerk my yen and held out my hand for the change, but he just dropped it on the counter. It was a painful reminder on how people viewed me. They weren't even willing to get close enough to hand be a few coins. My hands scraped against the cold, rough, wooden surface as I picked up the coins.

"Hey dropping the change on the counter, is that any way to treat your customers?!" A loud woman's voice said behind me. My eyes widened and I looked behind me only to me hit bit by someone's breasts. I couldn't breathe; I was being choked by someone's assets. My head flew back and my arms caught myself on the counter. I felt blood dripping from my nose.

"Think you can get away with it because he's a kid or something! Who would have thought you could possibly be so rude!" I looked to see a woman with big assets almost falling out of her shinigami shikasho. Her face was stern, but young. And she had shoulder length strawberry blonde hair. I felt something grab the back of my yukata and lift me into the air. This woman was freakishly strong. "And you, don't just lie there crying about it! If you're a man, you should stand up for yourself like one!" It was true tears had gathered in my eyes but I didn't know what for, maybe it was because I was sad, or maybe it was because I had been asphyxiated, yah it was probably because I was asphyxiated.

My anger rose at her words, "You're the one who knocked me down! And I wasn't crying! Get off!" the woman gave me a peculiar look, "I said Get Off!" My hand smacked her hand, and she effectively released me. I dashed away as fast as I could still carrying the bag of amanatto and change.

"Ah! Hey, wait right there!" I heard the voice say behind me. Yeah right, like I would listen to that crazy woman.

"Hey Toshiro! Slow down!" I looked behind me to see Karin waving her hand; I slowed my pace down for her until she caught up. Her calculating eyes looked at me thoroughly; it was scary sometimes to see how much sharpness she kept in her eyes, and pain. Sometimes in brief moments I would see the flash of pain flicker through her eyes, before getting a determined look.

"Are you alright Toshiro?" Kuso, she noticed.

"Nothing's the matter," I said indifferently, with a hint of stiffness. Her eyes narrowed before she gave out an annoyed sigh.

"What a pain," she said while rubbing her head, "Well if you want to talk, I'm always here."

I smiled a little, that was all I needed.

The crescent moon gleamed in the barren, cold, wasteland. The moon fell, coming closer to the ground in a beam of blue light, just like lightning. When I opened up my eyes again, an enormous being stood in front of me. Its body was a whitish blue and serpentine like. Ice sprouted around its body and on its only limbs which were its wings.

"What the hell are you!" my panicked words came out.

"Little boy...you have..." Its words were broken by the storm, the wind sweeping the noise far away.

"What are you saying? I can't hear you!" I yelled out.

"My name is..." it tried to say desperately. A flashing light reached out. My eyes opened.

"Hey" The lady from the store was here.

"Why you...from before..." I said a bit irritated, what was she doing in my house.

"Your reiatsu..." her words were soft and serious, like she was holding a secret, "Stop leaking it everywhere, and get some sleep."

"Your grandmother looks pretty cold." I looked in horror as I saw frost spreading towards Ba-chan. "Kid, you should become a shinigami."

"Wha..."

"Kids with power as strong as yours need to know how to bring that power under control." Her face darkened a little, "You know if you stay like this you'll end up killing that grandmother of yours with that power soon enough."

"What are you saying," I said panicking, I didn't want to hurt Ba-chan, I didn't mean too!

"You hear a voice calling out, right?" My eyes widened in shock, I sat there limply, "Once you properly discover that voice, you'll understand how to control your power, but that means becoming a shinigami," she looked at me with wise and serious eyes, "I'll say it once more kid."

I sat on the porch looking at the sunset, the calm and peaceful breath of my friend whispered next to me.

"K-Karin," the black haired girl looked at me, waiting patiently, I was afraid. I didn't necessarily know why I was afraid, but fear gripped my heart. "I'm going to become a Shinigami." I said firmly.

Her eyes widened, and I looked down guiltily.

"Baka!" I looked up startled at those words. I was kind of angry.

"Hey, what do you!..." I looked at her amused face.

"I guess I'll become one too," she said in a bored tone. My eyes widened at her words.

"You don't have too!" I shouted in protest.

"Hah, I've wanted too for a while, I just didn't want to go without you." she admitted. I felt a smile twitch on my lips.

I hear a voice...

Far...

Near...

I hear it resounding...

Now I decide to search...

To find it, and move onward...

Even if I die on this plain of ice...
