Finally, the next chapter is done!

Perry: About time too.

Sorry, but although I'm done with school, I was away on Holiday the majority of the past few weeks and barely even had Wi-Fi for my phone to see if I'd made it into university, let alone a Laptop to work on my stories.

Phineas: And?

And what?

Phineas : Did you make it? In I mean?

Oh, yeah Í did. My whole Family celebrated with me when I got the mail that I passed the entrance exam. Six more years of studying now and then I'll be done.

Phineas: (blinks in shock) SIX? After you already had one extra year of School in yours.

That extra year was worth it, and yeah. New laws and all that, they made it so ongoing teachers have to study for six years now, and not five...and why am I even telling you this here? Can't be interesting for the Readers.

Ferb: They always seem to find it rather entertaining when you start rambling.

Really? Wow, who knew?

Perry: (cuts in) I did.

Phineas: Yeah, so did Ferb and I!

Oh shut it, all of you.

Perry: Anyhow, as you already know, Phineas and Ferb doesn't belong to Night.

Phineas: R&R please.

In a tall oak-tree an ash-covered teal-furred animal watched with sad-eyes how Pinky climbed onto Elisa's back before the eagle took off and took the Chihuahua away. Perry sighed deeply, eyes flashing in the bright red that was normally reserved for when he was enraged, but now they only held exhaustion, pain and regret. "I'm sorry Pinky", whispered the platypus and glanced down at his hand. He opened his fist, revealing a crushed earpiece within. He'd snatched it off the Chihuahua before he'd even started dragging his old friend out of the school. "I'm so very sorry, but this is the only way. You're better off not knowing." He cast one last glance back at what once was his owners' school, then shook his head and took off over the trees.

Phineas was silent, staring up at Monogram in something that might be shock, though he wasn't certain.

The Major had just finished telling them that, since Conquer did have some influence after all, he'd managed to ensure that, unless something big happened, Monogram couldn't reinstate Perry for another few weeks.

Weeks!

Phineas knew how much his job meant to Perry. Never as much as their family, the platypus had quickly made certain that the Flynn-Fletchers were well aware of that, but it was still important to him. Understandable, since the Agency was all Perry had ever known. He'd literally been born into it.

"But why?", asked Candace now, paws resting on her hips.

Phineas glanced at his older sister and found her glaring up a Monogram defiantly, tail swishing wildly. Opposite to Phineas and most of the others, Candace spent most of her time on two legs by now.

Monogram heaved a tired sigh and adjusted the ear-piece he was wearing, a translator Carl had rigged up just a few hours ago. "I understand how you feel Miss Flynn", stated the man, "but rules and regulations are just that, rules and regulations. They are to be followed. The only reason I got away with only suspending Agent P for attacking a superior, with the possible intention of murder, is because of his status and the fact that Marcus cruelty is known."

"Sure", snorted Phineas darkly. Conquer's cruelty known? Unlikely.

Monogram straightened and looked at Phineas: "Phineas Flynn, I agree there is a lot less known about Marcus deeds than should be, nonetheless there is very little I can do about it right now. We're already under close watch because of the situation Doofenshmirtz put us into." He turned away and started to walk of. Phineas huffed angrily, but looked up when Monogram suddenly stopped walking. The man glanced back, sorrow shining in his eyes now. "Phineas if I could, I would reinstate Agent P right this very instant, I probably wouldn't have suspended him in the first place…but I cannot."

With that he left.

A wing gently touched the small dog's shoulder and Phineas looked up. Ferb opened his beak to speak, when another voice cut in: "It's gonna be okay kid." The family looked up, to find a familiar canine walk up to them. Monty dropped onto all four when he reached then and sat down. "I know it's hard right now", continued the wolf. "But dad…he is trying his best here Phineas. There are just some things he can't do without risking losing his position."

"His position?", asked Candace in disbelieve, her fur bristling.

"You misunderstand", argued Monty back and shook his head. "Conquer didn't just come here to test the Agents…he's interested in this Agency as a whole. Danville's division is well known, dad's more so than Admiral Acronym's. Perry, rightfully so or not, put dad into a dangerous position. One step out of line on his part and he'll get sacked faster than he can say 'great googly moogly'."Monty shuddered. "What do you think will happen then?"

Phineas tilted his head confusion, the same with Candace, but Ferb gasped suddenly and breathed: "He'll need a successor."

Monty nodded and added: "One he can't choose. And with this incident, chances are high that they would put Cornel Conquer in charge. Dad would never do that to his agents. Heck, Agent P would never forgive him if dad put everyone else into that kind of danger only to help him out some way."

Knowing what he did know about Perry, the Agency and even Conquer, that made a lot of sense. Phineas didn't know much about Conquer, but he knew he was dangerous and that the agents feared him. No, though the boy. Perry wouldn't want Monogram to get himself fired only to get his job back.

"Oh my!"

Monty's exclamation tore the dog from his thoughts and he gasped. Pinky had just walked through the door. The Chihuahua wasn't wearing his fedora, he was holding it in his hand, using the other to pat ashes and soot off of it.

"Pinky are you okay?", asked Candace worriedly and sped over Isabella's pet.

Said pet waved her off with an exhausted grin and stated: "Fine, fine, shaken, but fine." Then he grimaced. "Explosion almost did get me, but only almost. I made it out just fine."

"So the school blew up", asked Monty.

Pinky nodded in answer and glanced at his hat. It seemed like a lost cause without a thorough cleaning, same for the dog's fur. He plopped it back onto his head, then looked around and asked: "Where is everyone else?"

"Training, resting, playing, just keeping busy", answered Phineas.

"The three of them are here because dad was talking to them about Agent P", added Monty. Pinky nodded a that, then glanced around nervously.

"Might as well", muttered the Chihuahua. "I have to tell you four something. Technically it was only the Flynn-Fletchers, but I think I can tell you too Monty."

"Tell us what?", asked Ferb with a tilted head.

"Something about Perry", answered the Chihuahua softly.

"What about him?", asked Phineas nervously.

"I met him."

"What? When?"

"Just an hour ago. You see, I didn't make it out of the school by myself in time. Someone rescued me. I'd have probably blown up otherwise. That someone was Perry, he saved my live…once again…He asked me not to tell anyone else, but he said it was okay I tell you three that I saw him if I think it necessary. And I think it is." Before the Chihuahau had finished speaking, he found Phineas hugging him tightly.

Perry is alright, more than alright, he's still helping! He saved Pinky. Perry is fine. In his joy the terrier had squeezed tight enough to have Pinky choke and start gasping for air, prompting laughter from everyone else.

Monty Monogram strolled through the hallways of the HQ. It was in the middle of the night by now and he probably should be resting, but he couldn't settle down. Something was wrong and he had an idea what that something was. The wolf's thoughts flew back to this afternoon when Agent Pinky had informed him and the Flynn-Fletchers of Perry's appearance.

While talking something dark had flashed through the Chihuahua's eyes. There was more to Agent Pinky's encounter with the platypus than just having his live saved by the semi-aquatic mammal.

Monty didn't think Agent Pinky deliberately withheld information.

Most likely it was that there was just something the small dog was sensing that was wrong, but had no idea what it was. Still, it was enough to keep Monty awake this night. He would be lying when he said he didn't miss Agent P deeply. The platypus was the first Agent he'd ever really come to know.

A warm smile softened up the wolf's features when his mind flew back to when he'd met Agent P almost six years ago.

Flashback

"Monty? Monty where are you?!" Monty Monogram pressed his hand over his mouth to keep from laughing and giving himself away.

It was Easter and the 12 year old was home from the boarding school his father had sent him to, to avoid sending Monty to the 'Academy', for the holiday. Right now his mother was stalking through the garden, looking for her wayward son who was avoiding his chores. Hey, it was Easter Sunday, which sensible 12 year old wanted to do chores on such a day?

Monty pressed himself closer to the bark of the tree he was on, hoping his brown clothes would help hide him from his mother's searching gaze. He held his breath when she was right underneath him, but it worked! She moved on soon enough, growling under her breath. Monty waited another two minutes or so, then he started laughing and silently cheering to himself.

He'd pulled it off! No chores for the next few hours.

Then it happened!

The boy was so busy celebrating, that he forgot he was on a tree. One misstep and the brunette found himself falling. He let out a shout, then the ground already came closer at an alarming speed. Monty let out another shout and braced for impact with the ground, when something caught his ankle. There was a jerk and a growl and a short flash of pain, but then Monty found himself dangling barely 10 inches from the ground.

The boy slowly stretched his arms towards the ground and pushed himself into a handstand. Immediately whatever held his ankle let go and the boy found himself tumbling to the ground. His back hit the dirt and the breath was knocked out of him. Dazedly he stared up the tree he'd fallen from, only to have worried dark-red eyes stare back at him.

Monty's brain kicked in again quickly enough and he sat up, still staring up at the dark-red eyed creature in the tree. It moved and shuffled through the leaves, before it leaped down to the ground. Monty blinked in confusion at the creature in front of him. It was small, teal, had an orange beak and webbed feet as well as an orange beaver-tail. The dark-red eyes seemed even darker, now that the small animal's hat cast a slight shadow over them.

"What are you?!", exclaimed Monty and scrambled backwards to get away.

The animal watched him, eyes flashing. At first Monty thought it would attack him, but then its beak turned up and it cracked a smile. The boy froze, and now he saw that the flashing in the other's eyes was mirth. Monty couldn't help but gape at the almost laughing animal when a voice sounded out nearby.

"Agent P?! P where are you?"

Monty paled when he recognized his father's voice. If his dad found him, he was dead!

Suddenly the animal turned around a let out a really strange noise. The strange growl rang out in the direction his father's voice had come from and the still unseen man called: "Whistle." The animal tilted his head, but shrugged and raised an arm.

"No!", hissed Monty out sharply. The animal jumped and its head turned back to Monty. The red eyes were questioning. "Please", pleaded the boy, making his eyes as big as possible. "If dad finds me here I'm dead! I'm…actually supposed to help my mom in the kitchen."

He ignored the shocked realisation that flashed over the animal's features at the word dad, but then it placed a hand on his shoulder. Monty looked up, to get an apologetic grin and a tap on the forehead. The next second the animal spun around again and let out a loud whistle. "Traitor", groaned the boy out and slumped to the ground. Soon enough the uniform-clad form of his father appeared in front of the animal and boy.

"Monty?", asked the man surprised. He took in his son's appearance, then asked: "You hid in a tree again, didn't you?"

"Uh…maybe", answered the twelve year old sheepishly.

His father shook his head in exasperation, then turned to the animal and said: "Thanks for helping him Agent P. The trouble this boy can get into, really." Monty watched in fascination how the animal shrugged, a slight smirk on its features, before it saluted to then man.

"Agent…Agent P?", asked Monty and stumbled to his legs, hissing when his most likely twisted ankle throbbed a little.

His father gave a wry grin at that, then asked: "Remember that experimental Agency my boss had me try to create?" Monty nodded. Francis Monogram moved his attention from his son to the small animal and nodded proudly. "It was a success, and got approved. Agent P here is the most promising of our momentary 'recruits'."

Eyes flashing once more, and Monty could admit freely he'd never met a creature with eyes as expressive as this one, Agent P puffed his chest out proudly at those words. That action prompted a laugh from Monty and a chuckle from the boy's father, before all three of them set off back to the house.

Then something came to mind.

"What kind of animal is he anyway?", asked the boy now, glancing down at the Agent P, who was walking on his father's other side.

"Agent P? He's a platypus. An egg-laying semi-aquatic mammal, hailing from Australia. Or at least he specifically would if he hadn't hatched here in the US." Francis Monogram gave his son a warning glance: "He's still rather young and you'll most likely find him an interesting companion for a little roughhousing. But be careful Monty." The man glanced down at the teal animal who looked back at him reassuringly. "Agent P knows to be careful himself, but he does possess poisonous spurs on his ankles."

"Wicked!", breathed Monty at that and grinned down at the Agent. Agent P grinned back at him, dark-red eyes flashing with mirth once more.

End of Flashback

Monty let out a soft laugh at the memory. He'd been grounded in advance for the coming summer, but he hadn't minded too much. Agent P had soon switched with Agent E and then Agent S, all three of them spending time around the Monogram family, but Monty had always been the closest with Agent P. That was what made him miss his dad's best Agent all the more.

Night had long since fallen over the city of Danville. Its people were either asleep or out partying. Stars shone in the sky. Barely anyone was still in Danville Park. Nonetheless, the park wasn't empty. Two lonely figures stood underneath a tree, gazing up at the stars and half-moon. The leaves just about hid them from the moon-light, covering them in shadows.

A falling star shot by, shortly bathing the two figures in its white light. The two figures now revealed as a teal-coloured platypus and a panda.

"Can things really be as tense and dangerous as they are when there are nights like this?", asked the panda wryly, crossing his arms.

The other let out a wistful sigh and whispered: "True, true, isn't it? Times are hard right now, things are tense…but things have to be done and-"

"-and we're the only ones who can do it. It's for everyone's best if this rests with us", ended the panda. "But still…I don't really understand…How do you do it? How can you keep going like this…especially…it goes against just about everything that you…well…"

"You know if it weren't for my owner's best, I wouldn't be able to these things", argued the platypus and crossed his arms. The only answer he got was silence. He didn't mind, it allowed him time to think and revaluate what they'd done lately. The silence stretched on while the night went on. The sky already took on a lighter shade when the platypus moved again, uncrossing his arms and stretching. "We should go", stated the teal-furred animal. "We don't need to be seen." He ran off. The panda hesitated a little longer and stared up at the still fading stars.

"Monogram", muttered the black and white animal. "I hope you'll realise all that Perry is giving up, not only for his owners, but the Agency as well."

"Agent Pinky, please report to Major Monogram's office stats!"

Pinky lowered his fists and blinked up at the speakers in confusion. "What do you think that's about?", asked Darren when the duck landed near his friend.

"Who knows, better not let Monogram wait though", answered Pinky with a shrug.

"But why Monogram's office?", asked Leon now.

"Why not?", asked Oscar back.

"Oh wait, Leon was out when that was announced", cut Phineas in suddenly, joining his multiple mentor's conversation.

"When what was announce?", asked Leon now. "And why wasn't I told afterwards, whatever it is."

"You weren't told because you're in Monogram's Division", explained Oscar. "It doesn't really concern you. Acronym is gone for the while. She was called back to the main HQ."

"Oh, I see", answered the lizard, then glanced at Pinky and asked: "Shouldn't you get going?"

The Chihuahua blinked, then realised Leon was right and spun around. "See you later", called the dog while he sprinted out into the halls.

"Isabella wait!"

Pinky blinked and skidded to a stop in the middle of the hall at the shout. When turning around, he spotted Isa running up to him, Phineas at her heels.

"Isa?", asked the Chihuahua.

"Can't we come along?", asked the black cat desperately.

"Isa this could be who knows what. It could be dangerous. I don't want you to-"

"Pinky please", cut Phineas in now. His eyes were begging. "We just- we…", he trailed off and lowered his head.

Pinky felt his heart go out to the boy now. "Alright", sighed the Chihuahua. After all those kids had gone through by now, he owed it to them to allow them to stay near him. The group of three raced through HQ, Isabella and Phineas doing their best to stay as close to Pinky as possible. They reached Monogram's office quickly enough and Pinky adjusted his head and collar quickly, before he turned to the two former humans. "If there's an outsider in there and someone asks, you are new recruits and I'm the one keeping an eye on you, that's why you're here, got it?"

The cat and terrier nodded and Pinky took a deep breath. He closed his eyes for a second and allowed himself to fall fully into his Agent persona, before he knocked on the door.

"Come in", came Monogram's slightly strained voice. Pinky furrowed his brow at that, but pushed the door open and walked in. He almost staggered back out backwards when he saw who was pacing in front of the window.

Well, now I have my answer on Monogram sounding strained, thought the tan dog and gulped. What is she doing here?!

She was the pink-dressed, white haired woman Pinky hadn't expected to see again till the day after tomorrow. Her face was grim, her brows furrowed and she was glaring at Monogram scathingly. However she did grin, rather sickly sweet in Pinky's opinion, once she saw said agent. "Ah, Pinky the Chihuahua, how wonderful to see you again!" Pinky's only answer was a growl and a narrowing of his eyes.

What was that woman doing here?

With another warning growl he turned from his nemesis and two Monogram, looking at the man questioningly. He nodded and looked at the woman.

"Now that Agent Pinky and his…recruits…are present, why are you really here Professor Poofenplotz?", asked the man, fumbling shortly for a word that wouldn't draw too much attention to the two animals behind the small agent.

"Well Francis", answered the woman scathingly, "As you know, I am, like any other evil scientist, trying to take over the world. But I can't very well do that as long as I'm not drop-dead gorgeous, can I?"

"Uh…what?", asked Phineas confused.

"Don't ask", murmured Pinky back at him. "For all the trouble they're causing, many evil-doers we deal with have some rather…unusual eccentricities."

Isabella glanced at her pet in disbelieve when Monogram regained everyone's attention by asking: "Forgive this question Professor, but what does that have to do with your being here?"

Now Poofenplotz' expression darkened and she started shrieking: "I WANT YOU TO GET THAT IMBECILE DOOFENSHMIRTZ UNDER CONTROL! HE KEEPS DISTURBING MY BEAUTY SLEEP AND SPA DAYS! CONSTANTLC BLOWING UP SCHOOLS AND PHONING EVERY SCIENTIST HE KNOWS TO BRAG WITH IT! SOME OTHERS ALREADY STARTED PLANNING TO BREAK IN AND FINISH HIM OFF! I COULDN'T CARE LESS HOW IT'S DONE, BUT STOP HIM!"

Everyone winced from her volume and Pinky had to clasp his hands over his ears to protect his sensitive hearing. Behind him Phineas and Isabella let out short whimpers of pain.

Monogram himself was rubbing his ears when the woman finally fell silent again, then stated: "I assure you Professor, we are doing our very best", if he was shaken by the discovery that Doofenshmirtz of all people that was behind the explosions, he didn't show it.

"Your best seems pretty pathetic to me. Where is this good for nothing platypus of yours anyway? Isn't he supposed to be the one to take care of that idiot?", sneered Poofenplotz back. She did blink in slight surprise at the furious growls that sprung from the three animals in the room.

Monogram cleared his throat and answered in an even voice: "Agent P is…temporarily indisposed right now Professor. Now please leave. We will take care of the situation."

"I should hope so", huffed the woman, the stalked towards the door. Just before she reached it, she turned back to the Chihuahua and gave him a sickly sweet smile. Pinky almost felt Phineas and Isabella shudder behind him, but the Chihuahua had long since been desensitized against Poofenplotz' habits and simply raised an enquiring brow at his nemesis. "And you, Pinky the Chihuahua, don't forget, the day after tomorrow your little vacation is over. Oh I cannot wait to see you in my traps again."

Her only answer was a glare.

The woman ignored the implied threat of said glare and simply laughed before she left the room.

More hints to what Perry and Peter are up to, a revelation and a small insight on Pinky's relationship with his Nemesis. Nice chapter if I do say so myself.

Pinky: Why did Isa have to meet Poofenplotz? I still have nightmares from my first Mission with her.

Exactly, be glad I am planning on never writing down that one.

Pinky: (shudders) Let's just finish this for today and get to the next chapter.

Yeah...Feeling somewhat shaky myself.
