Largofan: Don't own, don't sue, no money
- Start -
"So what if you've got the Colt!? It won't stop him! This is a suicide mission!" Largo shouts, wondering with frustration why they still doubted her even though she had proven she knew what she was talking about. They were all gathered in Bobby's living room with the exception of Rufus, who was hunting a demon, to discuss what to do about the leads they have on Death and Pestilence.
"I know, that's why you're not coming. Future Cas says you die on this mission," Dean says and Castiel's eyes widen before he pulls the redhead into an embrace protectively and she takes this as a sign of his support.
"Largo's right, this is a suicide mission and none of us should go on it. We have a lead on Pestilence, we should go after him," Gabriel says, trying to talk sense into his lover.
"I agree with Largo and Gabe. Ain't no use poking the devil in the eye before we got all the rings," Bobby says and Ellen nods.
"But the demon said he was raising Death! We should at least stop that!" Jo argues, moving closer to Sam.
"There are six humans, a normal angel, and an archangel here. That town is going to be swarming with demon possessed men, hellhounds, Meg, and the devil himself. And the reapers are going to be gathered there in mass for Death's raising. We have no idea if they'll try and stop us or not. It's to risky and I have no doubt we're to late to safe the rest," Largo says, putting her hands over Castiel's that are over her stomach
"You aren't coming, but Sam and I at least are going. Even if we only succeed in stopping Lucifer from binding Death, that'll be a victory," Dean says, pointing at the ginger.
"I'm going to!" Jo says immediately and her mother's eyes widen.
"Joanna Beth! No, you are not," Ellen says sternly.
"I'm an adult!" the younger blond argues before the older blond woman stands up.
"Excuse us while I talk some sense into my daughter. I hope you all have success with these idiots," she says, one hand going to Jo's arm and the girl rips her arm free and storms off ahead of her mother, a door slamming after they both disappear from view.
"Largo, I agree with Dean," Castiel says and shock and hurt flicker over the redhead's face. She pulls away from him before turning to look at him.
"Castiel, Old Nick won't kill you. He values angels to much and you aren't a real threat to him, and he won't kill his true vessel, but he sure as hell will kill anyone else who gets in his way. We should go after Pestilence now before he starts spreading the swine flu. That will mess up his plans far more then nearly getting ourselves killed," she says, feeling confident that she'd argued her case well enough for her boyfriend before turning back to help Bobby and Gabe argue with Sam and Dean
Everyone goes to bed angry, and Largo slips out to wait in the Impala. She isn't surprised when the Winchesters and Jo slink out in the early morning hours before the sun was even up, but seeing Castiel with them makes her chest hurt.
"We're going," Dean says, leaving no room for argument in his tone but the red head's shoulders were already slumped from defeat and exhaustion.
"I know idjit. Jo, take this and put it on when you get there," she says, handing the blond a Kevlar vest.
"Why?" she asks as she takes the vest, looking at it and very pleased with it.
"Because originally your mom goes with the lot of you. You die due to a hell hound ripping your side open and your mom dies because of an explosion because she won't live with out you," the ginger growls out, tired from waiting up for them and annoyed that she can't stop them. The stricken look that takes root on Jo's face as she hugs the vest to her eases some of Largo's irritation. "There's a remote detonator in the glove box, so you don't have to leave anyone behind and I put some C4 in the back. Keep it on you." She turns to her boyfriend, her lips thinning in irritation that he was going even though she'd asked him not to and explained her reasoning to him. That he didn't trust her judgment hurts the most. "Castiel… don't wonder off on your own, or you'll just get trapped by Old Nick. Y'all better come back," she says, glaring at them, arms crossed.
Dean smiles slightly and hugs her, followed by Sam and Jo, but she refuses to reciprocate the gesture, just standing their rigidly. Castiel stands in front of her after they're done and when she refuses to look at him, head turned away from him, let alone kiss him, he pecks her on the cheek before getting into the Impala with a heavy heart.
Largo watches them leave sadly before her eyes slide shut. Arms falling out of their crossed position and fingers linking in front of her. God, and Cas you better not be listening, I know I always seem to be asking for something, but please bring those four back to us whole and alive, she prays before going inside.
Largo manages to get a few hours of sleep before the others wake up to find the four missing.
"I armed them the best I could," Largo says, face in her hands as she sits at the table.
"Why didn't you try to stop them? Hell, why didn't you get Gabriel to stop them?" Bobby demands, on his feet and looming over the younger woman.
"Cause he wouldn't've strong armed Dean in that way," she says and the archangel nods as he hands her a cup of coffee, not saying anything about the bags under the ginger's red rimmed eyes and putting what he hopes is a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"Dean would never trust me again. Are we going to go after Pestilence?" the trickster asks, shoulders slightly slumped at his own inability.
"And you made sure to warn them about everything that might happen?" Ellen asks worriedly, ignoring the archangel.
"Of course, and yeah, we're going after Pestilence," Largo says before taking a sip of her coffee.
The remaining four get everything ready and Gabriel flies them there. It was a hospital where Pestilence was posing as a janitor while he tested his diseases. Gabriel guards the perimeter, killing any demons he finds, while the humans go in, posing as a family and Largo did look unwell because of lack of sleep, so they're ushered into a room.
What they don't count on is Pestilence being able to feel War's ring and coming looking for them.
"So you're the little upstart," he greets with a friendly smile, his eyes like ice as he walks into the exam room. A wave of his hand sends both Bobby and Ellen, who had drawn weapons and advanced on him to the floor with massive stomach pain.
"Leave them alone!" Largo says, slower to act, hopping off the bed and taking an aggressive step forward. Her intimidation tactic met with an eye roll.
"Don't think so sweetie. My brother can't even function because of you," he says, the false, friendly tone dissolving into a furious growl as he steps closer and focuses on her. Largo's head throbs and her vision swims, making her stumble back against the exam bed to stay up right as she raises a hand to try and steady her head. It was suddenly far to warm in the room and her breathing becomes labored.
"How do you like the swine flu? I think I about have it perfect. I have to say, you have one hell of an immune system, so I amped up the power of it a bit," the horseman says, reaching out to feel the fever and tweak the virus if he needed too. With a movement that Dean had practiced with her until she was sure she could do it in her sleep, she pulls Ruby's knife from where it was hidden in a holster under her jacket and cuts all the fingers off his hand, including the one with the ring. Pestilence lets out a strangled shout falling to his knees. He looks at her, eyes wide in shock before disappearing.
Largo sways, dropping the knife as she starts to lose all strength. She wonders why she isn't getting better as she falls to her knees and weakly grabs at the ring a few times before her right ring finger lands with in the band. The ring shimmies up her finger, shrinking to fit as its new owner passes out. Ellen and Bobby crawl over to the girl, recovering from their brief bouts with the stomach flu before calling the Archangel.
"She isn't fully like you all, she's infected and will have to tough it out," Gabriel says with a frown after probing the girl with his grace. He should have been in the room, but the horsemen would be able to see him for what he really was and would flee, telling Lucifer that the youngest Archangel was against him.
"Can't you heal her?" Ellen asks, brushing red hair already damp with sweat off the girl's face, wincing as she listens to a breath rattle out. Gabriel hears it as well, summoning a surgical mask and putting it over the ginger's face to lower risk of the older humans getting infected.
"No, the ring is stopping me and it's already welded to her damn finger," he says, picking the feverish and shaking human up before teleporting them back to the house.
"Go change and burn those clothes before showering. I'm not that good with diseases. This is Raphael's area of expertise but we can't allow it to spread," he says and the humans nod, not wanting to end up like the shivering girl in Gabriel's arms. Largo is quarantined to her room, while Gabriel uses his power to get her everything she needs, even adding a private bathroom so she doesn't have to contaminate the one on the second floor.
"Sweetie, how are you feeling?" Ellen asks after having to listen to a particularly bad coughing fit through the door. She had come up to feed the spider, since there weren't many insects coming in now that it was well into fall. The girl didn't sound any better even though it had already been two days. It tore at the blond woman's maternal instincts to not go into the room and comfort her.
"'Ike m gonna die," comes the hoarse response.
"The other's called. I didn't think you wanted to see Castiel, so we didn't tell them you were sick. They failed, like we knew they would, but they're all still alive and without serious injury. Bobby told them about a case at a mental ward from an old friend of his to keep them busy. We didn't want to risk exposing to many people to the super virus Pestilence gave you," she says.
"Das good, te'em is da nurse. She's a w'aith," the red head rasps before there is another coughing fit followed by the sound of vomiting. Ellen grimaces, leaning against the door when she'd rather be inside, rubbing the girl's back.
"Will do," she says when there is a lull in the noise, patting the door, and goes back down stairs.
The others return a week later as Largo is getting better, but still quarantined.
"Why didn't you tell us?" Dean asks, moving to go up the stairs and see how their guardian ginger was, but Gabriel blocks him, arms crossed and a serious look on his face for once.
"No one can see her. I can't even go in there and neither can Cas, or we might carry the virus out on our clothing. The whole point of going after Pestilence was to keep it from spreading. I'm not going to let her suffering be in vain," the archangel says sternly and Dean winces at the look his lover was giving them.
"I will simply stay with her until she is better," Castiel says going to teleport into his girlfriend's room but the stronger angel stops him.
"No," he commands and gets a deep frown from the younger angel.
"Why?"
"Because she doesn't want to see you and she's sick," the Archangel says. Castiel wonders why his chest hurts at the news that his girlfriend didn't want to see him. The stronger of the two angels has to keep an eye on them all, though Castiel especially, to keep them away from Largo. When her fever breaks, he gets rid of all the cloth and soft surfaces in the room, from the clothes Largo was wearing to the mattress and replacing them before cleaning the hard surfaces. He also gets rid of the bathroom after Largo scrubs down to make sure to get any lingering germs off her.
"You look like shit," Dean says as she shuffles into the kitchen for the first time since she got sick. Ellen glares at the green eyed man and smacks him upside the back of the head.
"Don't be rude. Go ahead and sit down. I'm making breakfast," she says and the redhead nods to her.
"I felt like shit," the redhead confirms hoarsely, still weak from not having anything solid to eat since her coughing fits made her throat to sore to swallow and caused her to vomit. She all but collapses into a free chair, curling up in it, not having the strength to sit up straight.
"I should have been there," Castiel says, moving to take the young woman into his arms, but she shies away from him.
"You should have confronted Pestilence with us, but there is nothing you could have done," she rasps out. It still hurt that the four hadn't listened to her, that they had put themselves at risk with no chance of reward, but Castiel disregarding her warnings had hurt the worse.
She takes to ignoring her angel over the next few days while he gets more and more desperate for her to pay attention to him. She had never ignored him before and he didn't like it.
"Largo," he all but whines. He was on his stool behind the low backed chair she was sitting on, his arms going around her waist and his face nuzzling the back of her neck, leaving no where for her to escape since the desk she was working on was in front of her. "Please, I do not understand why you're so upset," he says, wanting her to pay attention to him again, and her jaw clenches.
"You don't understand?" she asks shortly, looking away from the book she had been digitalizing and at the wall.
"I don't," he confirms, hoping she doesn't get angrier with him as he looks at the back of her head, wishing she would relax. It felt wrong for her to be so rigid in his arms.
"Do you understand why Titania was angry with Oberon?" she asks and he frowns, wondering what that has to do with this.
"He broke her deal with you."
"No, she had asked him not to come after me, but he ignored what she had asked him. In a romantic relationship, both sides are supposed to be equal and are supposed to listen to each other. I have proven, time and again, that when I'm adamant about something, that what I want us to do instead is for the best. Did you listen to me? No, just like Oberon didn't listen to Titania and now he is bound to come running to my aide when I need him. The only reason I haven't grabbed your ear and tired to twist it off or yelled at you is because I'm still to tired from fighting off the swine flu after not having any type of flu for years," she growls and Castiel understands now and knows what he has to do.
He turns her around so they're facing each other and takes her hands in his. "I'm sorry, but I felt we at least had a chance of keeping Lucifer from binding Death to his will. I didn't realize just how large of a force was waiting for us there, even with your warning. I'm sorry I didn't put my faith in you. I know that you were brought here by Father to try and change things for the better but sometimes it feels like we are," he pauses to search for the right word, "running away from fights rather then avoiding the ones you know we cannot win. I didn't mean to hurt you. Please forgive me," he says, not breaking eye contact with her and is pleased when he sees her anger start to dissolve.
"I'm still not happy with you, but at least you understand now. Do you want me to preen your wings?" she asks, her posture relaxing as she lets go of her anger. It had been hard to stay mad at Castiel, but she hadn't wanted him to think she was a pushover.
"Do you feel up to it? You said you were still tired from fighting the disease," he asks, though he really wants her to.
"Yeah," she says and he smiles, kissing her softly on the lips. He stands and before she can follow suit, he picks her up, earning himself a surprised yip, and carries her up to her room.
Castiel smiles, wrapping one perfectly, in his opinion, preened wing around Largo as she lies down next to him when she finishes and holding her close with his arms.
"Lucifer commented on my wings. He wanted to know who the lucky angel was that I was bonding with since they were so well taken care of. I told him I wasn't with an angel and that my bonded was a wonderful human being," he whispers as he touches their foreheads together.
"I bet he didn't like hearing that. Is that why you're wings are scorched?" she asks and he blushes slightly, he had been trying to repair the damage with his grace so she wouldn't see the damaged feathers.
"Yes," he admits and the corner of her mouth quirks up.
"He's just jealous he has no one to preen his wings," she says and he hums before she falls asleep, cuddling closer to him unconsciously. He smiles as he watches her sleep happily.
"Wait, is this old babysitter in Massachusetts?" Largo asks once she's fully recovered, having over heard the Winchesters talking from her desk.
"Yeah, this something important?" Sam asks, straightening up from his slouch. Donna had been one of his favorite babysitters.
"Not really, but there is a small group of stupid teenagers playing with witchcraft and while the angels have gotten the devote out and looking for Dean, the demons are enlisting the witches to do the same with a promise of reward… Cas and I will go take care of it. The brats aren't looking for us and hopefully an angel of the lord will scare them straight," she says, pleased with the fact that an opportunity to be alone with her boyfriend had just fallen into her lap after she had finally steeled up her nerve. Sam nods his consent as Dean grins, flopping back on the couch.
"A couple of days off sound real good," he says. Castiel is just pleased that the redhead wanted to spend time with him alone.
"I'm sorry Dean and Sam couldn't come," Largo says a few days later when she and Castiel meet the family.
"They told us what was going on. What do you need to know?" Donna asks, as she focuses on the young woman rather then her strange companion.
"I already know everything. Maggie Briggs was hanged because she was carrying the illegitimate child of one of the former owners of this house and he buried her in the basement. If y'all want to clear out, Cas and I will salt and burn the body and then dispose of it properly, that'll get rid of her for good," Largo says in the confident tone she had practiced to answer the phones with and the family, while disturbed by the news, is relieved that it's going to be taken care of quickly. The girl made it sound so easy.
"Thank you," the dad say and Largo nods.
"Of course, this is our job," she says.
"Largo, I could just use my powers to send her on to the after life," Castiel says as Largo hands him a chisel and hammer and grabs a shovel for herself.
"Yes, but that would be a waste, besides, I know you and Gabriel don't like doing things the human way and I'm still nursing a grudge for you ignoring my warning," she says with a fake sweet smile and Castiel's shoulder slump as she slams the hood of the Volkswagen shut.
"And how long is it normal for you personally to nurse a grudge?" he asks over his shoulder as she usher's him back into the house. She smirks, swatting him on the ass with the shovel lightly.
"Rue pissed me off once five years ago and I still get pissed when ever I think of it," she says and the angel sighs. Largo wanted to leave as small of an impact as possible on the family's basement, so once Castiel locates the body, he has to carefully chisel the cement over it and then lift the slab up.
"Alright, now make sure she doesn't attack me," Largo tells him and starts digging. Castiel watches her with fascination since she was only in a form fitting t-shirt and jeans. He watches as her muscles move under skin, the spirit taking little of his concentration to keep at bay. He's more disappointed that the grave is shallow, only two feet down. He hands her the salt and lighter fluid and watches the body burn, the spirit going up in flames. Once the fire burns itself out, they gather up the bones and ashes and take them to a cemetery, burying them at the base of an old oak tree before contacting the family, telling them that it's safe.
"What about the teenagers?" Castiel asks as they get back in to the old car that Largo favored.
"We're going to get cleaned up first," she says and he nods. They drive to the motel they're staying at and he watches the bathroom door as she showers and does other human things.
"You need to get cleaned up too. Do it the human way," she says after coming out. Castiel finds showering nice, the hot water soothing on the tired muscles of his vessel, but frowns when he has to put on different clothing. He shifts in them uncomfortably, unused to anything but the clothes Jimmy had been wearing when he had first taken him as his vessel.
Cas can feel when the teenagers start practicing demon worship and he takes Largo's hand, flying them into the basement.
"Ah! Who the hell are you!?" Gary shouts, the three scrambling into a huddle away from the adults who had just appeared at the base of the staircase.
"Our names are not important. My friend here is an angel. He felt you starting to do the dirty. Do you want to know what will happen to you if you keep playing with fire?" she asks with a the condescending smirk Gabriel had helped her perfect
"How do we know he's really an angel?" Trevor asks with a sneer as the girl looks scared.
"What will happen?" she asks.
"Cas, why don't you show them your wings?" Largo asks and the lights flicker as the shadow of wings appears behind the angel and he stares them all down.
"Do you know how demons come to be?" she asks when she sees they've all been suitably intimidated. When they shake their heads, she goes on. "They were all human once and many of them either practiced witchcraft, worshiping a demon and turning their backs on God, or they sold their souls. After they died, they went to hell where they're tortured for centuries until every last shred of humanity is stripped from them. Does that sound fun to you?" Nora bursts into tears, shaking her head and going to her knees, praying to God for forgiveness. Trevor was trembling and Gary looks like he's going to argue, but then locks eyes with Castiel.
"No," Gary says, head bowing and Largo nods in approval.
"Good, Cas, I don't think they're going to be needing their spell books anymore," she says, taking the angel's hand and the angel nods, setting fire to them before flying the two outside of the house as Largo had told him to do earlier, saying she wanted to get some fresh air.
"I think they're going to straighten up," she says as they walk back to the motel they are staying at and starting to get nervous. This was why she wanted the fresh air.
"I believe so as well," he says, pleased that she's letting him hold her hand instead of stuffing them in her pockets, even more pleased when she smiles at him and leans against him.
"Cas… I haven't been completely… honest with you as to why I wanted us to come do this hunt," Largo says as they walk and Castiel wonders why his ginger is shifting restlessly.
"What is it?" he asks, looking down at the top of her head, which was against his shoulder. Largo swallows, running her free hand up and down his arm nervously.
"It's just… I could have died from the flu. It's not something unheard of and I might be in the field more often helping y'all out… and future you said I died. I was thinking… I want… I want to take our relationship further," she says, blushing brightly. She had really been hoping that a moment would just naturally have led to them consummating their relationship, but they were always interrupted. Castiel blinks, not understanding as he looks at her.
"Further?"
"Further physically. I trust you not to hurt me unintentionally and I'd really like to give you all of me," she says and Castiel's eyes widen as he realizes what she means. He blushes, since he had seen humans being intimate and he had imagined doing such things with his Largo. He hadn't known how to initiate it though or even if she'd appreciate it or reciprocate. He uses his free hand to tip her head up and kisses her before flying them to their motel room.
"I would like that as well," he says and she giggles at his eagerness before kissing him again.
Castiel fluffs his feathers proudly in the early hours of the morning. When Dean had tried to help him lose his virginity at the brothel, the human had rolled his eyes when he had asked how to make the woman feel good. Dean had said that took practice and the woman he would be with didn't expect him to make her feel good. Gabriel had been a large help, telling him all sorts of 'tricks' since he liked Largo and wanted her to have a good experience and giving him porn to watch.
Gabriel takes one look at the pair when they return a couple of days later, after thoroughly establishing a physical bond, and smirks. With a snap of his fingers, streamers and confetti go shooting every where as noise makers go off.
"What the hell, Gabe?" Dean growls, having smashed his head against the hood of the Impala at the sudden noise, turning to glare at his boyfriend.
"Look at the dehymenized couple," Gabriel crows and both human and angel go bright red. Dean smirks, cheering and the noise attracts Ellen, who promptly smacks them both upside the head when she realizes what they're celebrating.
"Clean up this crap and don't be assholes. No wonder Largo made sure there was half a continent between us and them before taking the next step," she says and smiles at Largo, patting the red head on the shoulder as she passes.
- End -
Largofan: Explaining a few things again. I think Sam and Dean would still try to stop Lucifer from raising and binding Death now matter what Largo had to say on the matter and Castiel is a warrior. While I don't show it since I try to mainly keep this centered around Largo, it'd be a lot longer if I didn't, I think he'd be discontent with doing a bunch of research and lead hunting, which is what he's mainly been doing.
Secondly, I had a short for Dean actually training Largo to knife fight and I have no idea where it is. It most likely got deleted, which is a bit annoying. Largo has been training while at Bobby's, she doesn't just sit around, researching or digitizing Bobby's books. I know the scene is still a bit unbelievable, but I blame that on to much anime and not realizing it until I had finished the story and was rewriting and editing it. I've tried rewriting the scene, but nothing has worked better, so please bear with it.
Lastly, Largo and Castiel's relationship moving forward even more. I did get a comment agreeing with me that it was moving a bit quickly, but you also have to realize that more time is passing then I think shows. Largo arrived in early spring and it's now mid autumn in the story and they have been through a lot… So… yeah… I always feel like I end these poorly… Not the chapters, the author's notes…
L: Good bye
