Chapter twelve

'Girls, we want to go to Diagon alley in two days. Have you had your letters?' Hermione and Cicile nodded. 'Good. Cicile, did you hear anything from professor Dumbledore about next year?' Cicile looked at her and Katherine was almost sorry that she asked. There was something very sad in her eyes. 'Yes, he mailed me. He wants to talk to you about my behaviour in the holiday before giving me another chance. He's wondering if it is better to get me resorted. But he'll tell you that himself, I suppose. You don't believe me anyway..' Gabriel looked at his sister. 'Cicile! Do remember what you are saying!' Cicile laughed. 'Relax, bother dear, I know what I'm doing.' He didn't look convinced.

Diagon Alley was not something that Hermione wanted to do again. She knew that there was something going on between Cicile and her 'family' but it had never been more clear than that day.

While they all went together, Cicile went on her own. Everyone sat in the same cart at Gringotts, except for her. She went with the director, saying that she had some things to discus with him about her account. Gabriel looked at her with sad eyes, but didn't say anything. Sirius and Katherine didn't even notice. Or, it seemed that they didn't notice. Hermione felt sorry for the girl.

They saw her again at Flourish and Botts. The bookshop. Cicile was talking to the manager of the shop. Hermione wondered what it was about, but was surprised when no one else from the family seemed to care. Except for Gabriel. When they arrived at home again, she and Cicile went to Cicile's room. Hermione didn't speak, afraid of saying something wrong. After a while, Gabriel joined them.

'Cicy.' Hermione watched the twins. She wondered why Cicile didn't turn around to greet her brother, when she noticed that she was sitting near the window, drawing. Gabriel glanced her one look and sat on the other chair, opposite of Hermione. 'How long has she sat there?' Hermione looked at the girl. 'For about an hour, I guess. Why?' He shook his head. 'Just curious.' They fell silent again. After another few minutes, Cicile joined them. They didn't speak for a while. Gabriel glared at his sister and they seemed to have a private conversation.

'For god's sake, Cicy, you have to tell her.' Hermione was surprised when she heard Gabriel talking to his sister. 'And why, Gabriel. You don't know. You don't know what will happen, so why should I tell her? Please, tell me why I should tell her about this.' Gabriel stared at his sister. 'Because she isn't stupid. Didn't you notice today?' Cicile nodded 'Of course I noticed today. I'm just wondering if it is right to tell her.' Gabriel stared at his sister. 'Do you remember that 'camping' trip I made with two friends?' Cicile knew that he was talking about the horcrux hunt. 'Yes. Of course I remember.' Gabriel quickly glanced over to Hermione. 'I've learnt there that you should trust friends. I've learnt there that things sometimes aren't meant to stay hidden. Please think about that. If it wasn't for my friends, back then, I wouldn't have come back.' Gabriel rose and left the room.

Cicile didn't come down for dinner that night, but Gabriel wasn't concerned. He knew that she was thinking about what he said.

'Hermione?' Cicy laid on her bed, next to Hermione. 'Yes, Cicy?' It remained silent for a while. Cicile sighed. 'I need to show you something.' Hermione was curious and waited for Cicile to turn the light on. She followed the girl with her eyes and was surprised when she took a notebook out of her bag. She looked for the right page and walked back to her bed, telling Hermione that she should sit beside her. 'Try not to think of anything before I can explain. Please.' Hermione started to worry. Cicile showed her the notebook. The drawing of the girl in front of the coffins. Hermione sat there for a while, looking at the picture, with tears in her eyes. Then she saw the dates. Hermione wasn't called the smartest witch of her age for nothing. 'You knew that this was going to happen..' she whispered. Cicile nodded. 'I'm sorry, Hermione. But it isn't up to me to change. I can't do anything about it. The things I see.. They always come true.' Hermione looked at the picture and then at the girl. Cicile was looking at Hermione with sad eyes. 'You knew everything.. You knew what the punishment was that you'd get for what the boys did. You knew about Ronald.. You knew everything..' Cicile shook her head. 'No, not everything. But a lot. I know what I'm doing, Hermione. Believe me.' Hermione nodded and yawned. Cicile laughed. 'Go to sleep. I'll still be here tomorrow.'

'Very nice to see you again, Mr. and Mrs. Black.' It was three days before the start of term and Sirius and Katherine decided to speak to the headmaster about Cicile. 'It's very good to see you again as well, headmaster' Sirius said, 'I wanted to know what you wish to do with Cicile. I dare say that she has learnt her lesson.' Dumbledore looked at him. 'I agree with him, headmaster. I don't think it's good for the girl to stay separated for another year..' Katherine said. 'Well, if you believe so. I do ask you to let me resort her. I just want to make sure that she's in the right house.' Sirius looked at the headmaster, almost surprised. This was exactly what Cicile told them what he would say. 'Of course, professor, if you think that that's what should happen.' Katherine looked at him and suddenly asked; 'What has she done to you?' Dumbledore looked at her. Sirius looked at the headmaster. 'I fear for Harry's wellbeing if she's around. The girl has problems. A lot of problems and I don't know how she will handle those.' Sirius nodded, but Katherine wanted to know how he knew that. She wanted to know what he knew.

September first. Hermione, Cicile and Gabriel had their own compartment. Cicile was staring out of the window, while Gabriel and Hermione had a conversation. 'Gabriel? Do you know about Cicy's.. gift?' He nodded. 'You and I are the only persons alive that know about it. Can I trust you to keep it a secret? I don't think it would be a good idea if Dumbledore found out..' Hermione nodded. 'What did you do before you came to England, then?' 'We never went to a magical school, Hermione. Cicy just pretended that she was day-dreaming. After a while, the teachers knew that they shouldn't bother her while drawing, so they just left her alone.' Hermione nodded. 'Cicy?' she asked, 'can you show me a few others?' Cicile turned to look at her. She quickly looked at her brother. 'I don't think that that's a good idea, Hermione. It's quite.. horrible to see those things.' Cicile smiled and went back to staring outside, when a pale, blond boy entered the compartment.

Gabriel and Cicile recognised him immediately. Gabriel wondered why they didn't see him before, but Cicile shot him a smile and told him to sit down. Gabriel looked at his sister and wondered what the hell she was doing. She rolled her eyes and continued staring outside.

'Eh.. So. My name is Gabriel Adrians.' The blond boy looked at him. 'Draco Malfoy.' Draco didn't say anything for the rest of the journey.

At dinner, they missed Harry and Ron. Hermione was worried about them, but Gabriel told her there was nothing to be worried about. They'd show up eventually.

'Good! Now that we've sorted all the first years, I'd like to resort a second year student. As you all know, she wasn't allowed for the last half year to join her peers in her previous house. Because I think it not fair to keep this punishment in place for another year, I'd like to give her a second chance. Perhaps the sorting hat will choose different this time' Dumbledore said. 'Miss Adrians, if you please.' Cicile stood and walked over to the hat, head held high. She sat on the stool and the hat was placed on her hair.

'Miss Adrians.. Again. Mmm.. I stick with what I said last time. You'd do well in every house. Gryffindor again, I presume?' the hat said. Cicile sighed. She hadn't told Gabriel about her plan, because she was sure that he would object. 'No, sir hat. I think I'd prefer Slytherin, this time.' 'As you wish, my dear. Don't worry, I won't see you again.' 'I know that. Keep an eye on Gabriel and the others. Bring them the sword, if necessary.' The had nodded and cried out 'SLYTHERIN!'

Cicile left the stool and walked to the Slytherin table. Every student was silent and wondered about what happened. How was it possible that a student from Gryffindor, a student with all the qualities from Gryffindor, was sorted in Slytherin? After a moment, the whispers started. Cicile held her head high and looked at the headmaster, who was standing with his mouth open. He recovered quickly and let the food appear.

'So.. Slytherin? What happened to your Gryffindor qualities?' a girl with blond hair asked. 'Not sure. I guess I lost them after what Dumbledore did. Never really liked the man..' The blond haired girl laughed. 'Nice to meet you. I think you'll fit in here easily. Astoria Greengrass.' Cicile accepted her hand and introduced herself. They ate in silence, after that. They all went back to the Slytherin common room. All, except Cicile. She went off to the library. She knew that Gabriel was waiting for her there.

'Cicy! What the hell were you thinking?!' He almost screamed it, but then he remembered that they were in the library. 'I am doing what is necessary. Please look after Hermione for me.' 'What is it?' Gabriel asked. 'What do you mean?' 'What is going to happen that you have to do this?' Cicile sighed. 'Harry's safety. Parsletongue. We don't know if he speaks it or not. If he does, there is no problem for me. If he doesn't, I have to take the roll of the heir of Slytherin.' Gabriel took three steps back. 'No.. No, there's no need for that. If he doesn't speak it, I'll save the Hufflepuff boy.' Cicile shook her head. 'You can't. You can't save him. You need your place here. And if he doesn't speak Parsletongue, all the better. Dumbledore will have another reason to kick me out of Hogwarts.' 'Cicy. Why do you want to leave Hogwarts so badly?' Cicile stared at Gabriel. 'You should be more confident, you know? You're quite smart.' Gabriel stared at her and asked the same question again. 'Karkaroff. He had an horcrux, before he came to the triwizard tournament. He disposed of it later. He gave it to Bellatrix Lestrange. But I think it might be smart to get rid of it before fourth year. It'll make him weaker, easier for Harry to beat him.' Gabriel took a step in the direction of his sister. 'Cicy.. Are you sure that this is what we have to do?' Cicile nodded. 'There is no turning back anymore, Gabriel. You have to save Harry. Especially fourth year. He's going to need it. And I won't be there. Why not take advantage of it?' Gabriel took another step, to hug his sister, but she'd already run of.

A few weeks later they met again in the library. The first victim of the Basilisk was petrified. And the rumours started to overtake the school. 'Cicy! Have you heard anything about the heir of Slytherin? In Gryffindor, everyone is saying that it is Malfoy. Even Harry, Ron and Neville believe it. Hermione isn't so sure, though.' Cicile laughed. 'She's very smart. You're going to need her as an ally, Gabriel. Don't lose her. And don't brew the potion.' Gabriel looked at his sister. 'Why not?' She shrugged. 'I haven't seen anything, if that's what you wanted to know. I just.. I just don't have a very good feeling about it. Try to keep the rumours about Malfoy quiet. Point them at me, if you can't think of anything better. Do it sneaky, though. Play it through Ron.' He nodded and they both left to their common rooms.

Three nights before they went away for Christmas, Lockhart started his 'Duelling Club'. And, just like it was in the first time, Snape was his assistant. And yes, this time as well, he choose Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy to compete. Gabriel was furious, his sister just curious.

When the snake came, Harry walked near him and Cicile knew that she couldn't let this happen. She stole one quick glance from Gabriel and started to hiss to the snake. Everyone turned around to see who was hissing. Gabriel pulled Harry from the stage and took him to the Gryffindor common room. Cicile stayed behind. Having a conversation with the snake, until Snape disposed of it. He looked at her quite shocked. She smirked and turned around, on her way to her common room. She didn't want to talk about what happened. But she had to do something with Ginny Weasley. Perhaps steal the diary? She'd have to talk to Gabriel about it.
