Chapter 12

DISCLAIMER: what if I turned to the Dark Side…

"Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life, but define yourself." ― Harvey Fierstein.

and so the Prophesy of the White Shadow goes, the silent warrior will bear the Mask of an ancient man, of whom was neither Light or Dark…

... as the Storm had predicted; it will Rain once more.

"Well, that's it, Seefor," Kat sighed as she attempted to start a transmission to the spaceport security. "Coruscant. Had a lovely vacation here a while back…" she said as they flew through the atmosphere.

"Alliance X-Wing: state your reason for your visit to the Imperial capital or prepare for execution." Her transmitters beeped as TIE fighters started surrounding her and attempting to shoot her and her ship shook violently.

"Ugh, when isn't someone trying to kill me?" she asked herself as she attempted to transmit her signal back. "Calm down! Calm down! I'm an Imperial spy! Imperial Agent 1163 returning from a mission from Hoth! This was my only means of escape!"

The TIE fighters had at least stopped shooting at her. "Send through your clearance code."

Kat pressed the buttons and sent through the codes Vitza'shak sent her that suddenly meant her life.

"Code clearance accepted. Make your way to docking bay 11 where we will have troopers sent to escort you to the Senate District. Welcome home, Private."

Kat relaxed a little as she cut of the signals. "That was far too easy." She breathed, then widening her eyes in sudden realisation. "Seefor, if we get back, remind me to tell Mon Mothma that we have a spy in our ranks."

The droid beeped happily back.

"Also, prepare for attack. We have a few Imps waiting for us to land. I doubt they'd trust us at first sight and have blasters pointing at us." She carefully made her way into the docking bay. "Well, if I die, I probably won't."

As she landed and removed her helmet, she placed her focus on all the security cameras in the bay and crushed them with her mind. No witnesses, no problem. The troopers outside are probably suspecting something.

She grabbed her lightsaber and the hatch opened. Using what powers she had, she jumped out of the cockpit, igniting the yellow blade as she reached mid-air, impaling the first stormtrooper that she landed next to.

She quickly took in her surroundings and within milliseconds devised her plan of attack. Sensing a troopers behind her, she swung her lightsaber over her shoulder, so that when he shot, the blast rebounded directly back into him. There were now only about four stormtroopers left. With a few swift movements, she elegantly dodged their blasts, impaled one, beheaded the next and used the Force to push the last one into a bone-crushing smack against the wall. Holding her lightsaber in a downwards position, she inspected her handiwork sadly.

Powering down her blade, she turned back to the ship where R2-C4 had jumped out of his hidey-hole. "Stay with the ship, Seefor." She said as she unzipped her orange jumpsuit. "Make sure nobody makes their way into the hanger. People may be suspicious that I'm walking out by myself." Wearing the same black tank and beige hiking pants she wore n Dagobah, she flung the pilot suit into the cockpit and brought out a long, black hood. "Remember, if I'm not back within 2400 hours, fly back yourself and tell them I'm dead."

The orange astromech responded sadly.

Kat laughed. "Just tell them I love them all, ok? Just that. Except you won't have to since I'm about to kick some Empire butt." She tied the black hood around her neck and placed it over her head, taking extra precaution in hiding her identity. She clipped her lightsaber to her hilt and hoped for the best as she started striding away with a low head.

"Goodbye, Seefor."

All was peaceful in the Imperial Palace. Its inhabitants were having a quiet day in the calmness of the city, and not much trouble was caused for the Guards.

But the Emperor knew all would be disturbed soon. He had foreseen this, he felt her presence drawing in closer and closer. The cold tingling that identified her so easily. He hadn't felt it in a long time.

"Your Majesty!" one of the Lieutenants ran into the throne room. "There's been a break in!" he panicked.

The Emperor turned his throne around and stood up, taking small and calm steps down the stairs to the Lieutenant. "Yes, yes, I know." He spoke normally. With a flick of his pale hand, his crimson Guards strode out of the throne room. "It has been foreseen."

The Lieutenant frowned in disbelief, as it was almost impossible to break into the Imperial Palace. "With all due respect, your Majesty, you should follow me to safety."

The Emperor pondered for a moment as the sirens started to sound. "Take me to the technician lab." He commanded. He could feel the shiver run down his spine in Cahira's presence.

The Lieutenant reluctantly led him out of the large throne room.

Kat laughed as she looked at the security screens and punched in a number of codes, slicing through the security systems, she pressed a button…

As soon as the Emperor and the Lieutenant exited the throne room, the door slammed behind them. The Lieutenant continued to remain puzzled as the Emperor kept on walking as if nothing was wrong.

Kat continued laughing as she was so very entertained. She had managed to block all the troopers out of her pathway and guide her Master in all sorts of directions.

"The elevator isn't working, your Majesty." The Lieutenant panicked, as he had realised none of the stormtroopers had intervened them one their way, and they had somehow started heading in the entirely wrong direction. "Our intruder… could be a… very advanced slicer, your Majesty." The Lieutenant panicked for his life.

The Emperor waved his hand. "Head to the lower levels." He commented. "We have a very unique intruder indeed."

Kat was sitting upon the throne, with her legs dangling over the right arm and a datapad in her lap, when she felt the hollow, frozen black feeling emerge from behind her. She swallowed hard. To hell with being scared.

"So, over four-hundred stories high, a meal every night, karaoke room and Death Star number two being built," the throne turned around under her command to face the dreaded man. "you must have one heck of a bill."

"Glad to see you've made yourself at home, Cahira. How did you get in?"

"Oh, that was easy." Kat waved a hand mockibgly. "In-tru-der air ventilation is how I did it. You really should have over seen that one yourself, your Majestic-highnessfullness. Kat stood up and walked down the steps. "And look at this. Who's this Lord Orage? And what would he be doing on Nar Shaddaa? Why hasn't he made his name known around the Galaxy?" Kat tossed the datapad to the side, refusing to let her knees go to jelly. "But you know none of that is why I'm here," her voice became hushed as she stepped closer to the man clad in black. "Because I have a scar on the back of my head and I want to know why."

"Young Cahira, you have always been so curious, even from birth." He smiled, walking back up the steps towards the throne to look out the large window behind it, with Kat reluctantly following. "You see this?" he gestured his arm to the landscape of Coruscant outside. "You can have it. All you really have to do is say 'yes', and you can make the Galaxy they way you want it to be." Kat stood beside him, frowning. "Save the ones you love, and crush the ones who pointed and laughed at you, or cowered in a corner in your presence."

I can't let this silver tongue have his way. "What would you know of my childhood?" she whispered and took a few steps down the stairs.

"I know a lot, my young apprentice. The Jedi were but a myth, and people became afraid when you could move things with your mind."

Kat could sense where this was going. "Well, tough luck, wrinkle toes, because while my childhood may have not been the most pleasant, I refuse to let it burn right though my innards."

"But it's what you want, isn't it, Darth Cahira? To claim revenge on those who ruined your life!"

Kat turned on her heels, but kept her eyes to the ground. She kept her deep breathing regular as she fought her Dark urge. "While it may be inevitable for me to refrain from using the Dark Side of the Force, I refuse to have any part in the destruction of those people's lives and ruling the Galaxy," her voice started to raise. "I hate political discussions. Damn Leia for her rambling about Alderaanian politics to me." She whispered to herself.

"You hurt yourself, didn't you?" he taunted as he stepped slowly closer to her. "After all the cruel words, the fighting and the deaths, you couldn't take it…" he stood right next to her, and Kat got her first good look at the Emperor's pale, wrinkly face along with yellow eyes.

Kat closed her eyes and turned around, taking a few steps away as her blood boiled in her head.

"Good, Cahira. I can feel your anger. It makes you strong."

Kat breathed in and out numerous times to calm herself down. The hum of hyperspace, she thought to herself. Sleeping in, fixing the X-Wing's engine, the scent of Luke…

"None of this is why I came." She muttered. Stepping onto a planet for the first time, running away from stormtroopers, the swing of my lightsaber, the smile of Luke… "Because I appear to be able to use the Dark Side without much training, only learning to place it under control," she turned on her heels to face Lord Sidious. "and I've had a dream about you for the past few weeks and im beginning to think you have had a negative impact on my life."

And there it was. Emperor Palpatine smiled and laughed that laugh which haunted her sleep for the past twenty-two years. Kat shuddered as a shiver went down her spine and to the scar at the back of her head. Flying into battle, helping those little kids, the feel of Luke's hair…

"Darth Cahira, I believe it's time I gave you my explanation." The Emperor placed himself on the throne. "Your cells, they contain so many midichlorians," he began to explain. "A thing of heritage, it is. I believe they saved your mother on one occasion. You have powerful Sith ancestors, a few Jedi… but great powerful Sith have come before you."

Han teasing me about my height and hair, Leia disagreeing with me then telling me I'm reckless and a madwoman, Luke waking up next to me with messy hair…

"Your blood is far from young, Darth Cahira. It is more ancient and will continue to be passed down." He smiled vilely as he came up to the next part. "Overtime, I have become a master of Sith Alchemy. Something a Dark Lord can learn over time. This is where I devised a plan for eternal peace for the Galaxy."

Holding Luke in my own arms, Luke breathing into my neck, Luke biting my neck…

"A child's brain, with so much potential, is perfect for this practise. But, with your heritage and midichlorian count, the opportunity was too good to bypass."

Kat didn't want to hear anymore. Her body shook with rage and her heart thumped heavily. "Ben died for me and Luke on the Death Star when Vader killed him," Kat realised. "Uncle V'kala died for me when the stormtroopers shot him down. My mother…" her voice shook. "she died for me at your hands at my birth." Calm, calm, calm, calm. "They all died for me. All of them. They chose to die to protect me…"

Kat turned around with her eyes darting to the Emperor and an evil frown upon her forehead. "You did that. You made me what I am." Her entire body was shaking now. "You made my childhood a nightmare, because of you, I had no control! Because of you, they all turned on me! Because of you, they're all dead!" Kat had no idea what she was doing now. She had no control over her actions. "Because of you, I'm a monster. All because you wanted another little Sith running around turning the Galaxy to turmoil!"

Kat, using the Force, took her lightsaber from her belt into her right hand, intending to smash it right down onto the Emperor, but his own red blade blocked her yellow one from the fatal blow.

With this action, the Emperor laughed, bringing Kat back to her senses, but she couldn't back out from the fight now.

Kat went into an attack stance as she swung her lightsaber into the Emperor's. As he moved to do the same, Kat arched her back backwards to dodge the deadly swing and leapt backwards down the steps, landing on her two feet with her lightsaber up.

"You fight well, Cahira." The Emperor complimented. "I can still sense much anger in you."

And with that, he leapt down, clashing the lightsabers together once more creating a crackling, sizzling sound.

"Your mind appears to be on that young rebel Skywalker a lot." The Emperor noticed as the two circled each other as they held their lightsabers together. "Give in to the Dark Side, and give him everything he ever wanted."

Kat stepped backwards and realised how much adrenaline was passing through her. "I'll never give in for Luke." She breathed out. "Because, blast it, that Skywalker kid keeps me fighting." She darted around the Emperor and continued her nimble and agile attack moves.

Kat heard the sirens start to go off again. Back up is on its way. she realised.

"You know nothing of the boy." He sneered. "He has much of his father in him."

Kat managed to leap away from the Emperor to one side of the room. "Yeah, Anakin Skywalker was a Jedi, a great one too if I might add." Kat huffed. "Luke idolises the guy. He died at the hands of your little pet Vader."

All the Emperor did was smile in her direction, his yellow eyes giving off a disturbing feeling.

Kat squinted her eyes and tilted her head. "Where is Anakin Skywalker?"

The Emperor refused to answer her question. Instead, he started coming at her with his red blade.

Kat had intended to use the Force to push him away, but as her natural Dark powers came into place, something very different happened.

Instead, white and purple lightning shot from her fingertips towards the Emperor. She realised that this was now a battle of strength as the Emperor had done the same, the two powers meeting hallway between the two. But Kat's shock took over at the discovery of the new power, and the thought that it could only be used by a Sith. Her focus on her power went away and soon the electric charge zipped into her body, sending her flying to the steps with a thud to her back. That's gonna have a big, bad bruise later.

Kat slowly stood up, with one hand pressed to the sore spot of her back and the Emperor laughing his damned ass off. She felt through the Force and realised that he was no longer holding his lightsaber, and realised it had been discarded on the floor. Just as the Emperor had realised, Kat used the Force and brought it to her and caught it in her left hand, igniting both lightsabers and as the Emperor flying towards her…

… with another red lightsaber.

She caught the Emperor's second blade between the cross of her two. "Now that…" Kat pointed out. "That's just cheating!"

"Freeze!"

Kat and the Emperor both lowered their weapons, but didn't disarm them and stepped back from each other, Kat next to the throne. She sighed as the guards and stormtroopers had broken through her slicing.

"You're surrounded, Cahira." The Emperor said. "You cannot escape. Join me, and bring peace to the Galaxy!"

She felt with the Force for a way out. She tapped her foot on the metal floor beneath her. About four-hundred stories high…

A lop-sided smile crept onto her face. "You know, Mister Wrinkle Toes, is that I've found a flaw in your plan to trap me. It's why I never have a plan. Stupid things always go wrong."

The Emperor frowned in confusion.

"Yes, Palpatine, I can escape, using my improvisation, I found a really big flaw in this room. A huge one, I believe. You over looked it, because you underestimate the philosophy of a Jedi!" she laughed. "You missed that one big… floor… in your plan. Too bad I'm afraid of heights. Toodles!"

And with that, Kat used both lightsabers to penetrate the very thin floor, drawing a circle around her, letting herself fall through the floor to the streets of Coruscant below.

"Madwoman!"

"Crazy witch!"

"What the kriff do you think you're doing?!"

Kat had her eyes closed and let the Force guide her as she leapt from speeder to speeder in the Coruscant traffic. "Sorry, yes, excuse me, sorry." She continued jumping across the laneways. "Does anybody know their way to the spaceport?"

"You farkled worm food!"

Kat heard her droid's happy beeping as he wheeled himself over to Kat as she entered the hanger bay.

"Hey, Seefor." Kat sighed, walked over to the X-Wing and plunked herself down next to one of the legs. "I don't know what to do anymore."

Seefor beeped in curiosity.

"I don't know what to do anymore. I can't go back to the other's…"

Seefor beeped angrily at her.

"I know, I know! I have to go back. But I'm not what I thought I was, Seefor." She sighed. "I'm a whole lot worse. Perhaps I shouldn't have come here. I should've stayed on Dagobah."

More angry beeps.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know that I know the truth. Don't tell Artoo or Threepio this, but…" she shut her eyes. "Palpatine has passed his knowledge onto me. I pretty much fight like him and use his powers. I'm a dangerous person, Seefor. I shouldn't be kept around the Alliance."

Seefor quickly zapped some sense back into her as he zapped her with his own electric arm.

"Ow! Don't do that! But you're right. I can't not go back. I have to help fight against the Empire." She stood up and patted the droid on the top of his dome. "We can't let them win. I have to go back to Luke and make sure he's ok after Vader." She swallowed the lump back down her throat. "I hated it when he called me that blasted name." she began reaching for her orange flight suit. "We have to carry on, Seefor. Carry on in their names."

I didn't write an entire fanfic and it's sequel for no-one not to notice that one pun I've planned since the day dinosaurs first came to existence. It's the most terrible one I've ever thought of. I'm proud.

I'm fairly sure that the next chapter is the last one in this sequel. An epilogue shall be devised if I can think up one.
