Breaking Point

A/N: Chapter 12, everybody. Thank you so so much for the reviews. Disclaimer: I do not own kingdom hearts

Ventus POV:

I stood in the doorway, silently watching Vanitas walking down the street. I lowered my eyes to the ground once his figure had vanished from my view. 'Please...hurry back. I can't go through this alone,' I thought, slumping to the floor. I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked up at Xion. Her tears had dried on her cheeks and she hiccuped softly.

"Hey," she whispered softly, squeezing my shoulder lightly. I sighed and grasped her hand in mine. "Hey," I answered, sniffling slightly. She knelt down and moved our joined hands to rest in my lap. She rested her head in the crook of my neck, careful to avoid skin to skin contact. I felt grateful for her company. "Is he coming back?" she asked. I wanted to say yes, that he wouldn't abandon me but my throat seemed to close, preventing me from answering.

"Namine...told me to give you this," Xion said, reaching into her pocket. I felt my heart clench at the mention of my sister. Xion took a small box out of her jacket pocket and handed it to me. I opened the box with caution and was surprised to find a stack of folded papers. I unfolded the papers and smiled. They were drawings of me. There were only five of them but each was a masterpiece. One of them was of myself and Xion. Xion had her arm around my shoulders and was grinning from ear to ear. The next was of me laying on my bed drawing. I felt my eyes soften as I noticed the small heart she had placed near her signature.

The third was of Vanitas. I traced the lines of his face and sighed. It really did look like the real Vani. I held it close for a moment, imagining that he was there. I flipped to the fourth picture and felt my entire face blush beat red. She had drawn the time she'd caught me and Vanitas in the laundry room. 'Dammit, Nami, even now you embarrass me,' I thought.

"Holy hell! When did this happen?" Xion shouted pulling the drawing from my grasp. Her face flushed and she giggled. Mortified, I desperately reached for the picture. "G-give it back, Xion," I cried. She held it away from me, her eyes never leaving the scene in the drawing. "My, my you have some explaining to do, Ven," she said, curling her lips into the cat grin. I blushed hard and looked down at my fingers. "Have you done it with him yet?"

I choked and covered my eyes. "N-no...well, not really," I murmured. Xion giggled lightly and poked my stomach. I looked away, my face on fire. "Did he finger ya?" she asked, completely blunt. I wanted to crawl into a corner and hide; I was so embarrassed. I gave her the smallest of nods and she squealed excitedly. "I knew it! When was this, Venny?" she teased.

I hid my face in my knees. "At the hospital. I was...drugged by those kidnappers. He...um...helped me," I mumbled. Xion went silent, unusual for her. I spared a small glance towards her and frowned. She was smiling but tears leaked down her cheeks. "Wha-? X-Xion, why are you crying?" I asked, dismayed. She lowered her face in shame. I grabbed her hand and squeezed lightly. She looked at me in surprise and gasped when I kissed her hair. "Stop beating yourself up. There was nothing you could have done. You're here now, with me. You took care of Namine for me. That's all I could've asked for. You say I'm the greatest best friend ever but in reality it's you," I said.

Xion went pink and smiled broadly. "Geez, corny much," she said laughing. I joined her and felt my heart warm slightly. "Xion! Get away from him," said a voice. Xion blanched pale with fear; it was her father. "You are never to talk to him again. We're moving away," he said snatching her by the wrist. She winced as he lifted her from the porch step. "I don't want to go with you! I want to stay with Ventus! Let go of me!" she cried, her voice pleading. Her father snarled, clenching her wrist hard enough to make her cry out.

"Stop it! Leave her alone," I said, my temper flaring. How dare he just hurt my best friend in front of me?! The look that spread across his face could only be described as malicious and cruel. "You wish to stay with Ventus, yes?" he said sweetly, his voice calm. Xion, her eyes filled with fear, nodded timidly. "Well then, stay as long as you want!" he roared, throwing her at me. As she slammed onto me, I felt my sleeve slip down and her arm hit my bare skin.

Xion gasped in pain as she hit the ground hard. I sat up and frantically pulled my sleeve back over my wrist. As Xion twisted in agony, I felt like my entire body was set ablaze. I barred my clenched teeth and my eyes flamed in a murderous rage. "I'M GOING TO KILL YOU, YOU SON OF A BITCH!" I screamed, ripping my gloves from my hands. Before he could move, I grabbed his face in both my hands. Xion's father yelled in torment, his body imploding on itself. My fingers dug hard into his skin, my face twisted.

"DIE!" I roared, my eyes burning. Finally, he burst into flames and turned to ashes. I barely acknowledged that he was gone; I had already turned to Xion, my gloves slipped back on rapidly. "Xion...please don't die," I sobbed, my fury having dissipated into sorrow. Xion convulsed, her blue eyes rolling into the back of her head. "Oh God, I'm so sorry," I keened, rocking back and forth with her body cradled in my arms.

"Ven-Ven...I love you. Thank you for being my best friend...for being my brother," she strained before her heart burst in her chest. She sighed out her final breath, her lips still in the process of smiling. I starred at her face, my tears a torrent. I felt my heart snap and I screamed at the top of my lungs in grief. I buried my face into her shoulder and hugged her in a vise grip. "No, no, no," I moaned.

I just wanted to make it all go away. I wanted my Xion back. Her face, complete with cat grin, flashed in my mind. My emotions all seemed to drain from within me. I set her body down on the porch swing and turned, my moments jerky. I snatched the firewood from the crate at the door and arranged it into a bed of logs.

I set Xion down on top after I wrapped her from head to toe in a sheet. I closed my eyes tight as I tossed the match onto the gasoline drenched sheet. I barely flinched as the flame rose high. I stared at the pyre and only wanted revenge. Nothing else mattered to me at the moment. "Hey, other me? How'd you like to take over for awhile?" I said deadpan. My lips curled into a cruel smirk and my veins felt like they were burning. "It would be my pleasure," I purred, my voice filled with malice. I allowed him to take control of my body but remained in consciousness.

The sound of sirens blasted from down the street. "Hey, that's against the law, son! I'm taking you downtown," said the police officer as he lugged himself from his car. I stripped my gloves off and shoved them in my pocket. I smiled horribly and turned to the man. "By all means, try," I chuckled. His face turned ed with anger and he pulled his gun from his belt. In a flash, my foot lashed out and the gun went spiraling. As he reached for me, I closed my eyes. 'So it begins...my revenge on humankind,' I thought as his hands gripped my wrists.

Vanitas POV:

"Sora, let me out!" I yelled, slamming my shoulder into the door of my bedroom; he had locked me in there as soon as my back was turned. "This is for your own good. He's bad news and he can kill you. I'm not letting you leave until that freak is dead," Sora said, his voice muffled yet filled with venom. I felt fury burn through me and pounded on the door. "Stop it! I can't help the guys if I have to worry about you breaking the door down," Sora said. I froze, my blood going cold. Sweat broke out on my forehead and my hairs stood up on the back of my neck. "Help them do what?" I whispered. My brother hesitated then scraped a chair beneath the knob. "We're going to end our fear of Ventus once and for all," he said. I panicked and slammed into the door with all my strength.

"No! No, Sora, please!" I cried. Sora kicked the door, his anger fueled. "Why are you defending him? He'll kill you!" he hissed. I slumped against the wood of my door, my knuckles bleeding. "I love him, Sora," I said, my voice no louder than a whisper. I heard the horrified gasp then frantic footsteps running down the stairs. I looked up in terror and slammed at the door as hard as I could. "Stop, no! Dammit!" I growled, my fear making my heart pound. I frantically looked around my room and my eyes rested on the window.

I lurched forward and grunted as I tugged it open. I climbed out and fell to the ground hard. I ignored my pain and stumbled into a run. "Sora! Please don't do this!" I shouted searching for my brother. I heard screams and sprinted towards the sounds. I skid to a halt, my eyes wide in horror. Ventus stood in the center of his yard, surrounded by the bodies of his prosecutors.

He was standing over a cowering Sora, his face twisted with his eyes filled with insanity and his grin stretching wide. The flame that rose from the pyre behind him reflected across his face."D-don't kill me," Sora whimpered. Ventus burst into a cackle, his eyes unblinking. "Don't kill you? But, weren't you going to rid the world of my existence? No...I think you should die. It's not fair that Xion died and you get to live," he said, his face temporarily shifting into a cracked distraught expression. I shot my eyes to the pyre and understood.

I was rushing forward when he lifted his hand, his insane expression back in place. "Upsetting, isn't it? To think you are about to die by the hands of a freak," he said, leaning forward. I threw myself over Sora, shielding him from death. "Vanitas!" Sora cried in surprise. I looked up at Ventus, my eyes pleading. "Please, don't," I said. Ventus's face went blank then it was as though he resurfaced. A look of pure horror consumed his face. "Vanitas...," he said, his voice cracking. He looked around him and stumbled back. He stared down at his hands and his face contorted in revulsion and sorrow.

"Aaaaaagggghh!" he screamed. He ran hard past me, down the street. "Ven! Wait!" I cried, reaching out a hand after him. I turned to Sora and gripped him by the shoulders. "Go home now! Do you understand?" I said. Sora nodded, his eyes huge. I went to run after Ven but was stopped when Sora gripped my pants.

"You're going after him?!" he said, shocked. I snatched his hands away and snarled at him. "You don't get it. I love him," I growled, rushing away. I didn't know where he ran but I knew I had to find him.

Ventus POV:

I crouched in the corner of the sand strip at the edge of the water. I scratched at my hands, drawing blood. "I hate this. I almost killed his brother. The look he gave me...Fuck!" I hissed, slamming my hands into the sand. I felt like screaming as my hands stung. I didn't cry; I had no tears left. 'Xion...Namine...I need you back,' I thought. I buried my face into my arms. There was a splash as a rock fell and the water slammed over me. I didn't care what occurred in my sanctuary; I was broken.

"Where did I think I could go? What a joke," I said. I cringed as the water lapped at my ankles. I scooted back, away from the water. "This wasn't supposed to happen," I said looking away at the water. I wanted to die, just to make everyone else happy and so I could be at peace. I held up my hands up to my face and stared intently at the scratches that bled softly. I ran my nails down the surface of my skin on the palm of my hand. I hardly felt the pain.

Though I knew it had been night time for awhile, I stared into the darkness of the cave, the water reflecting on my face from the moonlight shining in from the hole in the roof. There was a tremendous splash and I felt annoyance fill me. 'Why did I come here? I'm such an idiot,' I thought, burying my face in my sleeves.

I heard the crunching of footsteps coming to me and braced myself for a possible killing blow. Instead, I heard a heavy sigh and a pair of strong arms embrace me. As soon as his dark spicy scent surrounded me, I started bawling. "Why did you come find me? I almost killed your brother and-, I started before Vanitas cut me off by kissing me hard. I felt all the breath leave me and I stopped crying. He twisted his tongue around mine desperately, his hands in my hair. I was taken aback by the ferocity of his advance.

I pulled away, panting. His lips kissed a tingling trail down my throat, sucking on my Adam's Apple gently. I felt my head automatically tip back and my eyes closed. "Vanitas, w-wait a moment," I breathed, pushing at him feebly. He took my face in his hands, his face flushed and his eyes hot. I felt my pants tighten up at the sight of him. "Ventus...shut up," he said, kissing me firmly.

I was confused but went along with what he was doing. I moaned into his mouth as he glided his tongue around mine. To my astonishment, a deep, smooth groan erupted from his throat. My face flushed red and I went hot everywhere. I didn't realize he'd pinned me to the sand until I felt his knee spread my knees apart. I caught the whine in my throat as he ground it against me. He pulled away suddenly, his eyes sharpened with lust.

I gulped as his burning gaze raked down my body, taking in my reaction. He leaned down and licked the shell of my ear. I gasped and blushed furiously when he chuckled. "You're so cute, Ven. Come with me. I have an idea," he purred, sending shivers down my spine as his voice spoke of hidden promises.
