Kurt woke up in the morning feeling horrible. He was freezing, sweating, his stomach was hurting, his head hurt, and worst of all, his throat was killing him. He didn't even want to speak, because it felt so crappy. And he certainly wasn't hungry.
Finn came into the room later and found Kurt, still in bed. He usually was up and was either reading Vogue, planning outfits, and such. Finn wondered why he was still in bed. "Hey, Kurt, why are you still in bed?" Finn asked and Kurt rolled his eyes. It was obvious he was sick.
Kurt didn't want to speak, his throat hurt too much, but he knew he had to. "I don't feel good." Kurt said, his voice was cracking as he talked. "You don't sound good." Finn said and put his hand on Kurt. "You're really hot. I'll go get Burt." Finn said and left the room go find his dad.
Kurt closed his eyes again. He was tired and he felt terrible. As if he hadn't been sick enough that year. He had gotten strep throat a few times, which was usually the one times he got sick.
He woke a few minutes later, and saw his father and Finn. "Hey bud, Finn says you're sick. What's wrong?" Burt asked him and Kurt sighed. "I'm sweating, cold, my stomach feels weird, my head hurts and my throat is killing me. It kind of hurts to talk." Kurt told him and he nodded.
Burt then left the room for a minute and then came back with a thermometer. "Here. Put this under your tongue." Burt said and stuck the thermometer in his son's mouth. They waited a few moments and then it beeped. He took it out and looked at it. "104.9. Kurt, how long have you been sick?" Burt asked.
"A few days. I guess. I fell worse than ever. Ow." He told his father. His throat was the worst. Burt knew that Kurt has had a couple of throat problems lately. He wondered. "Kurt, you said your throat was killing you?" Burt asked and Kurt nodded. "Yeah. Its killing me. Worse than the last time I got strep." Kurt said.
"Open your mouth." Burt said, but Kurt just arched his eyebrow. "Why? Are you my doctor now?" Kurt asked, sarcastically. "I might have to take you to one. Now come on, I just want to look." Burt said and Kurt sighed. He opened his mouth and Burt took a quick look.
"Your throat's really red buddy. We're going to the doctor." Burt said and Kurt's eyes widened. He hated doctors. "No! I'm fine. It's probably just a bug." Kurt insisted, but Burt wasn't going to let him get out of this visit. "Kurt. You have to go. You might have tonsillitis." Burt said and Kurt sighed. "Fine." He said, angrily.
Soon enough they were in the doctor's office. Kurt hated doctors, he always have. They always found a way of torturing him in each visit. Usually it was with a needle, he hated needles, but even though he probably would need a shot this time, they'd find a way to torture him. Probably making him answer a bunch of questions would do the trick.
"Relax buddy. You'll be okay." Burt assured his son, but it didn't really give him much comfort. The only thing that would help was if they could leave and if someone could make his sore throat go away. But he knew that probably wasn't going to happen. Not in least. Especially if his dad was right and he did have tonsillitis.
"Kurt Hummel." A nurse called and he looked up. "Follow me, please." Kurt got up from the chair he was sitting on and followed the nurse down a hall which had tons of doors to examination rooms. Burt followed him, he knew his son wasn't fond of doctors at all.
He sat on the exam table and they waited for the doctor to come in, after they told the nurse his symptoms of course. He came in a few minutes later. "Hi Kurt." He greeted and gave him a grin.
"So, your throats bothering you again?" He asked and Kurt nodded.
"Let's have a look." He said as he took out a light and a tongue depressor. "Open wide and say 'ahhh', please." He said and Kurt complied. The doctor shined the light in his mouth and took a look. It only took a few seconds before he knew what the problem was.
"Well, Kurt, your throat and tonsils are very swollen. From the looks of it, you have tonsillitis. You will need them taken out." The doctor told him and Kurt's eyes widened.
"I'll have you taken to the hospital about five minutes away from here. Have him admitted and see when they can schedule the surgery." The doctor said. "You two may go."
"Thank you doc." Burt thanked him as he left and then looked at his son. Who was covering his face. He was probably terrified now.
"Kurt." Burt said and Kurt sniffled. Burt then knew his son was crying. He got from the chair he was sitting on and walked over to his son. He put his hand on his shoulder. "Hey, it's okay kiddo." Burt said and Kurt moved his hands.
Burt saw his watery eyes and the tears that went down his face. He pulled his son in for a hug as he continued to sob. "It's okay. It's okay." He told his son.
"I don't want surgery." Kurt sobbed. "I just want to go home. And I don't want to have it. Please. Don't make me." He pleaded, but Burt knew he needed it or it was going to get worse.
He had his tonsils out when he was about Kurt's age. It wasn't that bad. But Kurt hated doctor and everything to do with it, so he knew he'd be scared. Especially since he never had a surgery before.
"I know buddy, but you have to have it. It's not that bad." Burt told him and he continued to cry. "Don't cry. It's okay. It's a quick surgery. You rest for a few days, a week at the most and you can eat all the ice cream you want. You'll be okay."
Kurt was released from the hug and he looked at his father. "Okay, I'm going to call Finn and Carole and tell them to meet us at the hospital. Wait here." Burt said.
He knew he was terrified and he knew just him, his step mother and Finn weren't going to help him much. He knew someone could though. "If you want, you can call Blaine. Or text him to come too. If you want." He added and left the room.
Soon enough, Kurt and Burt were at the hospital. Carole and Finn would be there soon enough. Kurt hadn't heard back from Blaine, maybe he had better things to do than be with his boyfriend before he got his tonsils out.
Kurt really hoped he texted him back. Or least came. He was terrified and he really needed Blaine. Soon enough, Kurt was put into a bed and he had to get in an hospital gown.
The surgery was scheduled for in a few hours, so they had to wait. While in the mean time, they had to hook Kurt up, give him fluids and help him with any pains he was having. They had to put on IV, but Kurt didn't want it. It took a few minutes before Kurt actually let them put the needle in his arm so they could give him the fluids and medicine.
A little while after that Finn and Carole came, they saw him briefly, but Kurt wished Blaine was there. Maybe he never got the text or something. He had an hour to his surgery.
Soon enough Blaine showed up at the hospital. "Oh, he actually called you?" Burt asked Blaine, when he got there.
"Yeah. I didn't get the text until later. Is he okay?" Blaine asked and Burt nodded.
"He's okay. They're taking him up in an hour. He's terrified. He's never had surgery before. You can go see him until its time." Burt said and Blaine nodded.
Blaine went and found Kurt a minute later. Kurt smiled when he saw Blaine. "What the hell took you so long?" Kurt asked and Blaine smiled. "Sorry. My phone was dead. Didn't see it until later." Blaine explained and Kurt nodded.
"Are you okay?" Blaine asked and Kurt shook his head and his eyes started to water again. "I'm terrified Blaine." He said. "I don't know what's going to happen and I don't what's going to happen when I wake up or if I'll be able to sing again or what." Kurt panicked.
"Shh. Shh. It's okay, honey." Blaine said, trying to calm him down. Pulled him in for a hug and started to rub his back. "It's okay. Now, it's not bad at all. It doesn't take long and your throat will be a little soar after, but ice cream helps. You can have as much as you want." Blaine said and Kurt smiled.
"Will you share it with me when the surgery is over?" Kurt asked and Blaine nodded. "I'll be here when you wake up. What's your favorite flavor?" He said and Kurt thought for a moment. "Chocolate Chip." He said and Blaine nodded. He liked that choice a lot. "Good choice."
Blaine and Kurt spent the rest of the hour talking. Kurt would some times get off topic and worry about the surgery because something occurred to him, but Blaine would calm him down when it happened. Luckily he had his tonsils out when he was twelve.
Soon enough it was time for Kurt to be taken up for surgery. "Kurt, it's time to go kiddo." Burt told him and Kurt grasped onto Blaine's hand as he was about to leave. "No. Blaine." Kurt exclaimed, nervously. "It's okay. I'll be here when its over and you wake up." Blaine told him and Kurt let go as they took him up the surgery.
"So are you going to wait here too?" Burt asked him and Blaine shrugged. "I promised Kurt, I'd get him ice cream so, I'll grab that and come back." Blaine said Burt nodded.
Kurt was in the OR, he looked around, terrified of what was going to happen, but he remembered Blaine's words and relaxed as best as he could. All that was going to get him through this was looking forward to sharing ice cream with him when it was over.
"Relax, it'll be over before you know it." A doctor told him and Kurt nodded. "Alright Kurt, we're going to sedate you now, alright?" Another doctor asked and Kurt nodded.
A doctor put a mask over his face. "Count backwards from ten." The doctor told him and Kurt did, mentally. Soon enough he was sedated and they began to take his tonsils out. It was one of the easiest surgeries so it wouldn't take long and there shouldn't be any complications.
Kurt remembered waking up back in his hospital room. He looked around and saw his dad, Carole, and Finn. He looked in front of him and saw ice cream, so he knew Blaine was there. "Welcome back Kurt." Blaine said Kurt smiled. He wanted to say something, but couldn't.
"Shh. Don't try to speak. You have to rest your voice. You'll have to be quiet for a few days while you recover." Blaine told him and Burt nodded. Kurt sighed, but then eyed the ice cream.
"You don't have to eat it now if you don't want to, bud." Burt told his son, but Kurt wanted to. That was all he's been thinking about before and after the surgery. Blaine promised and he really wanted to. He hoped maybe it would help him feel better.
Kurt picked up a spoon and handed one to Blaine. "I think he wants to share it with me Mr. Hummel." Blaine said, stating the obvious. "I can see that. I guess he was looking forward to this." Burt added.
Kurt and Blaine then began to eat the ice cream together. After that, Blaine talked to Kurt for a little bit, but then visiting hours were over and he had to leave. Carole and Finn went home, but Burt stayed with him. He knew that Kurt wouldn't want to be left alone in the hospital, so he wouldn't leave him.
Kurt couldn't wait until his recovery was over. When he felt a lot better, could sing and talk without any problems. That was something to look forward to, but for now, he had his ice cream dates with Blaine.
What did you think?
I know, I got this one longer! :) So a little Furt, some Hummel family moments, and then I threw in some Klaine near the end! :)
What did you thinks of this chapter? I thought it turned out good. This one was prompted by a guest, a while ago. I'm sorry I didn't get to this. I was looking the reviews and saw Tonsillitis! I was always going to do one! It would have to be Kurt.
They should have it happen to him in the show and I would die. That would be interesting scene. Maybe we could be given some Klaine! :)
Anyway, I hope you liked this! Yesterday I got another prompt! I love getting them! I've got a couple so far, and if you have one! Tell what couple or pairing you want and what you might want to happen to them. :)
I'll do any couple, pairing, or friendship! I've done a lot of Klaine and couple Furt. I've gotten a Finchel, Kadam, and a Sory! If you have a prompt in mind, put it in a review and I'll gladly do it!
It could be anything!
So let me know what you want to see and who you want see coming up in this story series! Next chapter is another Klaine, Kurt and Blaine both get allergy prick tests! Yikes!
Please Review!
