I don't own Vampire Knight or any of the characters in the series.
A/N: Hi, I'm back with chapter 12! :D
Sorry, once again, for the late update. (It's about 2:30am here) -_-"
I was busy celebrating because I just received my exam results and did really good, and we're talking Distinction-grade good! :D
Sorry for vanishing for a few weeks: I was studying hard for my exams which are now over (waiting for the results now) and then I was invited on a holiday to Singapore, and someone else was paying for my flight and accommodation, so I couldn't say no! It was absolutely fantastic, the warm weather was a lovely change, and I'm feeling wonderfully refreshed now that I have returned and I'm ready to get back to writing! ^^ While I was on holiday I did pre-plan a number of chapters for my fics so there should be quite a few updates over the next week!
Important news: I have edited my profile and added a section for my updates where I will list an estimate date for when I think I will be able upload the next chapter for each of my fics. I will do my best to keep it up-to-date so that it is as accurate as possible! I will also endeavour to list any long-term absences here in the future: eg. Holidays or Exam periods. I have done this for your convenience and I hope that you will find it useful. Let me know if you think this is a good idea?
AokyorRenka, KxZ fan girl, Huangangelin, Skylar18, Aoi. y. love. forward, Guest: Thank you so much for your reviews! :D
Please read, review, fave and follow! But, most of all, please enjoy! :D
Chapter 12: Possible Sighting
Juri was curled up on the couch with her hands wrapped around her husband's waist. Across the small, wooden coffee table from them were Kaien Cross and Toga Yagari, also rather intertwined. Well, when I say intertwined…
"For goodness sake, stop playing with my hair!" Yagari reprimanded the blonde sitting next to him, who was attempting to give him small braids throughout his dark, wavy hair.
"I'm sorry Toga. It's just…It's been more than a week now and there's still no sign of them. I'm stressed and I just can't sit still. I need to fiddle with something to take my mind off things, ok?" Kaien explained, seemingly unfazed by the eye-patched man's discomfort as he continued braiding to his heart's content.
Yagari continued to glare, not letting up on the matter. Though, even in this situation he wouldn't hurt his friend. Then again, maybe he would, just a little.
*Smack*
Yagari gave Kaien a short knock to the back of the head. Not enough to harm the blonde, but enough to let him know that his actions were not welcome. However, he regretted doing that the moment his hand had made contact.
Kaien's eyes began shimmering as if he were about to cry. Even though he was renowned as a strong hunter he had never exactly been very emotionally strong.
"Aww…Yagari-san. Maybe you should let him braid your hair just this once?" Juri prompted from her seat a safe distance away.
"Why should I have to have my hair braided? I'm not a girl!" He insisted, clearly not willing to put up with their antics.
"Well, the fact that you're not a girl has nothing to do with whether your hair can be braided or not." Haruka added in, supporting his wife.
At this Yagari turned his attention across the table towards Haruka. Yagari reasoned that the only reason why Haruka was supporting this was because he didn't have to put up with it. And so, he sent a challenging glare across the table…
"This isn't your business." Yagari argued back.
"You're right in front of us and your actions towards poor Kaien are upsetting my wife. Therefore I am making it my business." Haruka explained.
*Sigh*
"Fine, he can braid my hair, just this once." He declared, raising Kaien's hopes. "However," he continued, "I have one condition."
"What condition?" Kaien asked.
Although the question came from Kaien, Yagari was still glaring at Haruka.
"Juri?" He called for the brunette woman's attention.
"Yes?" She asked in return.
"I know that you're also very anxious about the disappearance of Kaname and Zero. May I suggest relieving your stress by giving Haruka a few braids, or maybe even a few pigtails?" He challenged Haruka, smiling at him.
Since Haruka had involved himself Yagari made this his condition. And of course, being Kaien's friend, Juri agreed. She even found a box of bright pink hair elastics they could use to keep the braids in place.
*Stare*
And so, Haruka and Yagari spent the next few hours glaring at each other while their partners braided their hair.
…
2 Hours Later
Juri and Kaien had finished their work and dragged the two other men, Haruka and Yagari, in front of a large mirror so that they could see the finished results.
"We look…" Haruka began.
"Ridiculous." Yagari finished, knowing that they were thinking the same thing.
Haruka at least had a small amount of tolerance having experienced 'hair torture' before when his daughter Yuki was a young one and at her most dangerous. He thought he looked awful, but his wife's smile told him that he must actually look at least a little bit sweet.
However, Yagari had never had to deal with this before and he had no tolerance to 'hair torture'. When he looked in the mirror, and saw his eye-patched self standing there, he concluded that he didn't look 'pretty' or even 'sweet' at all. Instead, he imagined that this is what a pirate, who was far too drunk when he decided to plunder a woman's hair salon, would look like. Kaien's smile did nothing to change his opinion on this matter.
After being clearly displeased with the results Haruka and Yagari walked off to one side as Kaien and Juri began chatting. Haruka turned to Yagari with a serious face, made somewhat less serious by his current hairstyle.
"We have to deal with this situation like men. We leave our hair up till they're asleep or they'll start complaining again. But, as soon as they're snoring we can fix our hair." He explained, sharing his knowledge from being in a similar experience before.
"But, I don't want to and I don't care if he complains." Yagari replied.
"You will if he decides to paint your toenails to match." Haruka pointed out.
Yagari found that he could not disagree and reluctantly nodded his head in agreement.
…
After their little discussion, Yagari headed upstairs and into the room he was sharing with Kaien. He sincerely hoped that Kaien would be asleep already so that he could remove the ridiculous pink hair ties. However, this was not the case.
As he entered the room he heard the shower running and it became apparent that Kaien was not asleep yet. Yagari purposefully looked away from the mirror in the room because he really didn't know if he could stand seeing his reflection like that again. Thankfully Kaien came out of the shower before too long.
*Ca-chack*
Kaien came out wearing his night clothes, though he had not dried his hair yet, which surprised Yagari. Kaien was usually obsessive about drying and straightening his hair before he left the bathroom because he didn't want anyone to see him with frizzy hair.
"Your hair is still wet." Yagari found himself pointing out.
"I know." Kaien replied. "That braiding session was good. I feel more relaxed than I have been in a very long time. It kind of made me sleepy…so I decided that I could deal with my hair in the morning."
After he had finished speaking he let out a large yawn before sitting on the bed. However, he was not sitting for long…
*Bang*
The door to their hotel room was swung open by a frantic Haruka, still with pink hair elastics.
"They-They think they might have found them!" He announced.
"They've found them!?" Kaien asked, getting his hopes up.
"It's not definite. One of the search boats today saw an island in the search area. When they looked through a telescope they think they spotted a hut of sorts on the island, a man-made structure at least." He explained before continuing. "They've only just come to report now and they're preparing the larger ship for a rescue mission now."
Yagari and Kaien immediately dashed out of the room and down the stairs, following Haruka. They didn't care what they looked like; they just wanted to see Zero and Kaname safe and sound once again.
