Adagio stomped out of the shop, cracking her knuckles along the way. She walked around the side and peeked around the corner. There, she saw Aria and Sonata kneeling just below the window. She scowled and walked towards them. The sound of her footsteps alerted the two, and when they turned, Sonata let out a fearful shriek.
"Aaah! A-adagio, l-look, we can explain!" Sonata tried to reason. Adagio just continued stalking towards them. The two stood up, and Aria backed up a bit. Without hesitation, Adagio suddenly rushed forward and grabbed Sonata by her collar, pushing her against the wall and giving her a menacing look.
"Uh…A-adagio…?" Sonata whimpered. Adagio put her face uncomfortably close to Sonata's and growled.
"What. Did. You. See?" Sonata tried to shrink back, but the wall was behind her, keeping her from doing so. Aria just stood to the side, watching worriedly. "Why in the name of Tartarus are you here?!" Sonata gulped and cowered, unable to speak.
"H-hey, lay off her, would you?" Aria said nervously. "I-it was my idea, not hers! I forced her to come along!" She defended, hoping it would get Adagio off of Sonata's case. Adagio's head snapped in Aria's direction, causing the purple-haired girl to gulp and take an instinctive step back. Adagio released Sonata, who then slid down the wall and wrapped her arms around her pulled-up legs. Adagio went over to Aria. She didn't react as violently as she had with Sonata, but she still held that menacing glare.
"And could you tell me why, exactly, you were here spying on me in the first place?!" Adagio growled. Aria then realized something. With the information she had, she had something to fight back with and gain the upper hand. With a smug look, she crossed her arms. Ignoring Adagio's question, she spoke.
"So, Adagio…" She said in a casual voice, trying not to show the fear that was still present in her. "…how long have you liked Sunset?" Adagio then seemed to deflate right then and there. Her eyes widened, losing any hint of anger they'd had, and was replaced with what looked like confusion and worry.
"Wha…how…you…" Then, Adagio became fired up again as the anger returned. "You worthless piece of…I-I do not like her! Unlike you, I don't fall for hussies!" Aria raised an eyebrow, trying to hold down the anger she felt from Adagio picking on Sonata.
"Okay, bitch, I'm just going to pretend I know what that means. And as far as you not liking her…I think that your obvious blushing in there would beg to differ." She said, pointing at the coffee shop with a thumb. "There are tons of things I could do with that information…" Adagio growled, jabbing a finger at Aria's chest.
"Listen here, you…" She said in a spontaneous, strange tone that confused Aria. It…didn't sound angry. "…why don't you just mind your own damn business, huh?" Aria looked at her before swatting her hand away.
"And what makes you think I'd do that?" Aria countered. Adagio huffed, but Aria saw the look in her eyes become softer.
"Look, I don't think you know how much this means to me." She said suddenly. Aria's eyes widened.
"So…you actually do like her?" She asked. Adagio growled.
"Would you pay attention, you idiot?! Look, all I want is that you stay out of it. Don't ruin this for me." Aria blinked in surprise. She could hear pure emotion in Adagio's tone, and she almost sounded…desperate. This was surprising because 'Adagio' and 'desperate' didn't really belong in the same sentence. After a few more seconds of awkward silence, Aria sighed.
"Okay, fine…" She said quickly, rolling her eyes. Adagio was silent for a moment before huffing.
"Good." She growled. "But if you try anything, I. Will. End. You." She said, jabbing a finger at Aria's chest with each word. Then, with a curt glance at Sonata, she turned on her heel and walked away quickly, most likely back home. Aria stood there for a moment before looking at Sonata, who was still hugging her knees. She sighed and walked over to her, holding out her hand. Sonata looked at her, taking her hand immediately and allowing herself to be helped up.
"Hey, you okay?" Aria asked. Sonata nodded. Aria blinked in surprise when she saw a smile suddenly etch itself onto the girl's face. "Uh…Sonata?" Sonata looked at Aria, a grin on her face.
"Heheh, looks like she's under someone else's spell, now." She giggled. Aria raised an eyebrow, but couldn't help smiling at the humor.
"Sonata, I thought she hurt you." Sonata chuckled.
"Nah, she didn't. It helps when you're able to look pathetic when needed. She tends to be less hard on you, then." Aria blinked before chuckling and shaking her head.
"You're something else, Dusk. Anyways…" She added, her smile disappearing. "…sorry we can't go through with your plan." Sonata smirked, a mischievous hint to it.
"Who says?"
"Uh…Adagio. And I promised I wouldn't interfere."
"Yes…" Sonata said, as if stating something obvious. "…but I never did."
