Hi guys! Thanks for the Reviews!

Demon Child chapter eleven: Awakening

I was awake.

That was the first thing I realized when I opened my eyes the next morning. I was curled up in my bed, with my pajama drenched in cold sweat. I waited for the heat or pain to come, but there was none. With a jolt I remembered the events of yesterday…or what it seemed to be yesterday. I detangled myself, noticing how difficult was moving. I took a deep breath, and I was amazed by the feeling of freshness that pierced my lungs, as if I had never breathed for real.

I decided to get up, as there was no one there, but I got a surprise.

As soon as I stood, my legs gave up, forcing me to my knees. I whimpered in pain, but somehow I managed to stand up and, slowly, started walking towards the door. I stumbled a few times, though.

I heard hushed voices in my way downstairs.

"How long I was in bed?" I wondered idly.

As I stumbled down the last step, I realized my family was in the living room. Before announcing my presence, I tried to hear the conversation.

"He woke me up, screaming bloody murder." I heard Dad say.

"When it will all end?" Mom mused.

I raised my eyebrows.

"Why? How much time I was in bed?" I asked, showing myself to my family. They all went quiet; they obviously didn't expect me to show up. Lea ran towards me.

"You are okay!" she cried, jumping into my arms and almost making me fall. I stumbled and Lea released me.

"You don't look okay." She stated. I looked at myself in the mirror. I didn't look fine. My hair was all messy, my eyes were glittering feverishly and I had a permanent blush on my cheeks.

"I am fine." I muttered. "How much time I was in bed?" I asked, making my way to sit on the couch. Mom went towards me.

"Valentine, you are very ill. You need to go to bed, now." She said patiently

"I feel okay!" Truthfully, it was a White lie.(no pun intended xD) I wasn't feeling 100% well, enough to stay away from the bed. "Tell me, how long I had been sick?" Mom paused.

"You have had the highest fever I have ever seen."

"We thought you could die." Matt whispered. "You were unconscious for five days."

My eyes widened. "Five days? F-Five days?" I repeated in shock. Dad nodded behind him.

We discussed for a while, but Mom had to almost drag me back to my bed. At least she let my siblings stay.

"Are you okay?" asked Matt.

"Yes. No. I don't know!" I sighed frustrated. "I am a bit hot, but nothing else."

"We were all scared; I thought I might lose you." Lea whispered.

"Hey, I'm not going anywhere." I chuckled. "So, what happened when you found me, Matt?"

"It was horrible. You were screaming like you were being killed, you were tossing and twisting like mad. You started moving like for ten minutes, before I could wake you. Then you started muttering "Mom, mom…" but you didn't seem like you were calling our Mom, Vale."

I winced, the dream of five days ago coming back full force.

"That's because I wasn't calling for her." I whispered. "Tell me" I started. "When was the time when I woke up?"

"Yesterday, you said 'he's coming' and then fell asleep again." Lea answered. Realization hit her as her face changed to utter horror.

Matt´s eyes widened.

"Oh damn." he said quietly.

"It will be tonight." I said. "I don't know why he wants to visit me, I mean, yeah, he now knows that my mom is dead, but why visiting me in person? What does he wants?" I wondered aloud

"I think... you." Matt muttered. Lea and I looked at him in shock, and I felt like ice had been placed in my stomach.

"Just think logically" Matt started. "He has thought all these years that your mom was taking care of you, Vale, but now he finds out is not like that. He would think that as he's your only living relative, he has a right to take care of you."

"But Mom and Dad adopted Vale legally." Lea protested.

"He won't care about those things" I muttered. If I was worried before, now I was almost in a nervous wreck.

"We won't let him take you." Matt assured me

"Also, he won't be able to take you. Not without taking me, anyways." Said Lea. Seeing as we looked at her as if she was crazy, she quickly explained. "I found some things very interesting…"

She then launched into an explanation of because of my heritage and blah, blah, blah, she and I had some sort of connection, which was all very good, but I didn't know in which ways it could affect me.

"You two are…Kngawe" said Matt. I had to clap a hand over my mouth to prevent me from laughing.

"Kmenawe" said Lea slowly

"Kmeggg…ughr! Let's call it Nawe, it's easier to pronounce." Said Matt annoyed. I smiled.

"So, Nawe?" asked Lea. I nodded.

"Nawe."

My head was spinning with the new information. I closed my eyes and sighed. I heard two startled gasps and I opened my eyes quickly.

"What's wrong?" I asked. Matt and Lea were both wide-eyed.

"Do it again." Lea commanded. I blinked.

"Do what again?"

"That…the thing…" Lea trailed off and then she breathed out air. I raised an eyebrow.

"Why should I…?"

"Just do it, dude!" Matt yelled. I recoiled a bit.

"Allright, allright…" I breathed out air…and I had the biggest shock of my life.

Instead of breathing out air, like it always was and always should be, I just had…

"Impossible." Matt muttered.

"Fire breath." Lea whispered in awe. I breathed out air once again, watching in amazement as flames escaped of my mouth. I started grinning.

"That…that is…" Matt started.

"…Amazing!" I grinned hugely. Lea smiled and Matt stared.

"You look like a little boy with a new toy." She chuckled.

"I am a boy with a new AMAZING ability. Of course I am excited about it!" I laughed. I started to realize that the "fever" maybe wasn't a fever at all. I breathed fire again and I made some sort of ring with it, sending it flying towards Matt, who didn't notice.

"You will have to try to control yourself, I don't want you burning Troy by accident or…" Matt noticed the ring above his head. "Holy shit!" he shouted

"It's not so bad." I chuckled.

"So…Nawe of mine…" Lea started, making me smile at my new nickname. "Would you like to prank with me after you are recovered?"

"Lea, it would be playing with fire." Matt didn't realize the joke until I began laughing. "Er…no pun intended."

We spent a good part of the morning talking about the new possibilities about me and Lea being Nawe, but I couldn't take my mind out of my father's arrival, which was a second closer than before.

Tick, tick, tick…
