A/N: Super grateful for the reviews. I want to thank each one of you that comments on every chapter. It really does make writing so much more enjoyable. I love this story and I'm really enjoying writing it it just takes some time every once in awhile. I am going to try and top my longest chapter yet with this one but I am not making any promises. It depends on how much I put in this chapter and I don't usually go by word count I go by pages so we will have to wait and see. Enjoy :)

Lucas entered his room and plopped onto his bed. It had been 4 weeks since he had flown to New York and told Lindsey he wanted a divorce. She still texts and calls everyday trying to convince him to change his mind. Lucas let out a sigh.

Karen heard her son enter his room and she stood in the doorway. "What's wrong?" She questioned.

Lucas looked up at his mother. "Lindsey keeps calling. She says she wants to talk things through."

"And you don't want to?" Karen was still trying to put forth an effort when it came to Lindsey because she didn't want Lucas to change his mind and then be mad at her. Although Karen still would rather him be with Peyton.

Lucas groaned. "Yes... I mean no. I mean honestly I don't know. We just don't seem to ever be on the same page." Lucas had thought about mentioning it to his mom about Lindsey's pregnancy scare but he didn't feel as if it was necessary. "I just feel caught."

"Marriage can be like that sometimes. Maybe you should make a list of pros and cons or something like that." Karen suggested. "I'm going to go cook dinner. I'll let you know when it's ready."

Lucas nodded and Karen proceeded down the hallway toward the kitchen.

-Peyton's House-

Peyton kicked off the blanket. She had been laying on the couch for hours. She was so incredibly bored and miserable. Madi was at ballet lessons.

P: hey can you pick up Madi from dance?

Peyton waited ten minutes and received no reply so she decided to call Brooke.

Brooke picked up almost immediately. "Hey P. Sawyer. What's up?" Brooke said cheerfully.

"Can you pick up Mads from ballet? I tried texting Luke but he didn't reply. I don't want her to think I forgot her." Peyton pleaded.

"What's wrong? I didn't think you had anything going on tonight." Brooke questioned, concerned that something might be wrong.

"I'm not feeling too well and I am just so tired." Peyton answered with a sigh.

"I'll get her. No worries. What time does she get done?" Brooke answer quickly throwing her keys into her purse.

"In about 30 minutes." Peyton replied.

"Okay I'll bring her home." Brooke said her goodbyes to Peyton and went right to her car. She swung by the cafe and picked up some food. Haley was there but was a little busy to chat. The cafe had gotten busier since more people were visiting the small town. That would be all thanks to big shot Nathan Scott.

Madison watched out the window for her mother's black SUV to pull up. Brooke pulled into the parking lot in her red Mercedes. Madison knew Brooke's car the second it pulled in. Shortly after Brooke rushed in. "I'm sorry I'm late Mads."

Madi smiled. She was happy to see her aunt Brooke. "That's okay. Where's momma?"

Brooke smiled and grabbed Madi's dance bag. "She is at home waiting for her beautiful little princess to get home. I even picked up some food for dinner."

Madi grinned. "From where?"

"From the cafe silly." Brooke chuckled. She grabbed Madison's hand. "Come on. Mommy is waiting for us at home."

-Peyton's House-

Peyton placed her head in the freezer. She was sweating and she didn't know why. She had the air conditioner cranked to the max. Peyton heard the front door open and close. She closed the freezer and grabbed the water from the counter.

Seconds later Lucas walked into the kitchen to see a very ill looking Peyton. "Peyt, are you okay?" He asked.

She grasped onto the counter in order to hold herself up. "I'm fine."

"You don't look fine." Lucas rushed to her side and grabbed her arm to help her keep her balance. "Do you need to go to the hospital?" Lucas asked out of concern.

"No. I just need to lay down and rest." Peyton replied trying to take another step towards the living room.

Lucas swiftly scooped her up bridal style into his arms and carried her into the living room where he placed her down on the couch. They sat there for awhile talking briefly and then Peyton drifted off to sleep. Lucas brushed her blonde curls from her face and tucked them behind her ear. Lucas kissed Peyton's forehead. He whispered gently into her ear. "I love you Peyt." He covered her up with a blanket and walked toward the kitchen.

Unbeknown to Lucas, Brooke and Madi had just returned home and witnessed the whole scene that had just unfolded. Madison was squealing and Brooke quickly covered her mouth so she wasn't to be heard. Once Lucas had left the room Brooke opened the front door and closed it so he would think they just go home.

"Hello? Peyt?" Brooke hollered through the house.

Lucas quickly entered the room and ushering them into the kitchen. "Shh." He said. "Peyton is asleep on the couch."

Brooke nodded as if she had not known and was now aware of the sleeping blonde. "How long ago did she fall asleep?" Brooke asked.

"No long. Couple of minutes maybe."

Brooke nodded and turned to Madi. "Please go change out of your dance clothes and get into your pajamas." Brooke told Madi.

Madi nodded and turned to go upstairs to her room to change.

Brooke returned her gaze to Lucas. "Why didn't you answer Peyton's text earlier?"

Lucas looked at her in confusion.

"The one where she asked you to pick Madi up from dance? She has been sick for 2 days now and she needed your help." Brooke growled. She was angry that he wasn't there for Peyton when she needed him.

"I'm sorry Brooke. I must've missed it when I was on the phone." Lucas defended.

"On the phone with who?" Brooke questioned out of curiosity.

"Lindsey called saying she was coming to Tree Hill in a month or two so we could discuss the divorce and to get some of her things that she left here." Lucas added. "She wanted to come soon but she has a book tour for a new writer that she has to finish."

Brooke nodded. "Do you still have to write another story for her?"

Lucas nodded, knowing that he had to spend time with her until his next novel was complete made him feel sick to his stomach. He loved her at one time but she was not the same person she was when they first met and that bother Lucas, not to mention the fact that he was in love with Peyton and always had been. "Yeah. I still owe her a novel. I can't afford to break my contract."

"How often will you have to see her?" Brooke questioned.

"Well I won't have to see her for about 2 months and then once a month or so after that until I finish writing the novel and she finishes editing it and then we have the book tour. So… it's going to be a long time before I can actually separate myself from her but I can make it work."

All of a sudden Lucas and Brooke hear Peyton screaming in pain. The two rush into the living room to see Peyton doubled over in pain. Madi was standing at the top of the stairs screaming. "Mommy!"

Brooke and Lucas exchanged glances. "I'll take her to the hospital. Grab Madi and meet me there." Lucas stated, hoping not to have to argue with Brooke. Brooke nodded and quickly rushed up the stairs and Lucas scooped up Peyton and headed towards the car.

-The Hospital-

Lucas and Brooke sat in the waiting room. Brooke typing away on her phone and ucas tapping his foot. Madi was playing with the toys they had in the waiting room.

"Brooke, who are you texting?" Madi asked looking over towards her aunt.

"I am texting aunt Haley and uncle Nate." Brooke said glancing up from the screen.

"Oh." Madi said. "Why?"

"Because they are going to come and wait with us." Brooke replied.

Haley and Nate walked in a couple minutes later with some food. No one had a chance to eat before they had to take Peyton to the hospital. They greeted each other and passed around the food and sat there making small conversation with each other. No one really knew what to say at this point. They all just wanted to know what was wrong with Peyton.

What seemed like hours later the doctor walked out into the waiting room. "Peyton Sawyer?" He glanced around the room.

Brooke, Lucas, Haley, and Nate all jumped up quickly and rushed over to the doctor. Brooke was the first to speak. "How is she?"

"She is stable and resting comfortably right now. I do have to ask. Did anyone know that miss Sawyer was pregnant?" Nathan, Haley and Brooke exchanged glances, not knowing that Peyton had even been with anyone recently. Lucas stood there shocked. Pregnant. He was pretty sure Peyton hadn't been with anyone besides him and if that is the case than she is pregnant with his child. During this time Brooke, Nathan and Haley noticed the stunned look on Lucas' face.

Brooke took a moment to gather herself and returned her attention to the doctor. "Is the baby okay?" Brooke asked.

The doctor nodded. "Yes. Miss Sawyer is approximately 7-8 weeks along." Brooke was doing silent math in her head and realized it would have been around the time she had caught them together asleep on the couch.

The doctor asked if there were any more questions and when no one had any he turned and walked away.

Brooke smacked Lucas across the chest. "Did you have sex with Peyton?!" She demanded.

Lucas stood there for another moment unsure of how to answer this. "Yes." He said sheepishly. He found no reason to lie. Although he wanted nothing but to lie and not have to do with the wrath of Brooke and Haley.

"How could you do that to her?" Haley exclaimed. Nathan grabbed his wife before she took a smack at Lucas next.

"I love her." Lucas said softly and everyone was sure that they had heard that wrong.

"You what?" Brooke demanded again. This time crossing her arms across her chest and giving him her heart piercing glare.

"I said I love her. I have always loved her." Lucas stated again this time more clearly.

"You are married Lucas Eugene Scott!" Haley raised her voice this time. "To another women."

"I didn't mean for it to happen it just did and I knew before that happened that I wanted nothing more than to be with Peyton. I never should have married Lindsey and I'm sorry that I hurt Peyton before and now I don't know what to do. This is just too much right now." Lucas groaned and sat down on the chair that was close behind him.

Madi noticed the look on her father's face and ran over and wrapped her arms around him giving him a very big hug. "I love you daddy." Madi grinned at her father.

"I love you too." He smiled and returned the big hug and scooped his daughter up to continue to give her hugs and kisses.

The sight was one to be seen by all. Although Haley and Brooke were angry with Lucas it was great to see him with his daughter and know that she loved him. He loved Peyton and they all knew that but protecting Peyton had become one of their most important jobs.

The nurse walked over and informed them that they could now see Peyton. They all walked toward the room and entered to see a sleeping Peyton with IV's in her arm and a monitor wrapped around her belly. Peyton slowly opened her eyes and was instantly confused by her surroundings.

Brooke walked over to her best friend and hugged her gently. "How's it going P. Sawyer?" Brooke asked with a chuckle.

"Brooke, where am I?" Peyton asked with tears in her eyes.

"Oh honey, you were sick and you were screaming in pain so Luke and I brought you to the hospital.

Peyton nodded and looked down at the monitor on her belly. She was wondering why it was there but she knew. She had it when she was pregnant with Madi and she knew now that she was pregnant.

The doctor entered the room. "Hello Peyton. I'm your doctor, Mr. Reese."

Peyton said hello to the doctor.

The doctor looked down at his chart and then back at Peyton. "So it seems what happened here was that on top of your pregnancy you caught a pretty bad case of the flu and you were extremely dehydrated which caused some pain in your abdomen. We would like to keep you for a few days so we can monitor you."

Peyton nodded and the doctor then excused himself from the room to tend to another patient.

Lucas and Peyton made eye contact and she knew that he wanted to know if she had been someone else. He probably had a million questions and Peyton wasn't really sure she was up to answering any questions just yet.

Nathan placed Madison up on the bed with Peyton and Peyton hugged her daughter tightly. Peyton held Madison close and the two shortly fell asleep. Lucas took a seat on one side of the bed and Haley and Nathan said their goodbyes, letting Brooke and Luke know they'd be back tomorrow to check in and then Brooke took a seat next to Luke and grabbed his hand. "It'll be okay." Lucas nodded in acknowledgement.
