Chloe's POV
"Huh?" Tori and Simon said with their mouth gaping, almost allowing flies to enter like in the cartoons. They were for obvious and good reason taken by surprise by the sudden news, which I had not expected was going to be revealed so bluntly and at the time like this, but it really shouldn't surprise me consider what kind of man I married myself into.
"Did you just say you're married?" Simon asked. He had apparently not processed the information he information he had just been given and needed recheck if he had correct.
Derek being the guy he was only nodded and waited for them to move on with the conversation, not interested in sharing the finer details how the marriage came to be, however Tori had other plans in mind once she snapped out of her shock.
"How in the world did that happened!" Tori exclaimed. "And when did this happened?"
Her outburst made me take a big step back in order to keep my distance from her, meanwhile you could see the sparks coming from her fingers with warning. Her temper was normally harmless, but with that pissed-off expression on her face even I was afraid to be near her and I was her friend.
"Someone married us off, witnessed the whole thing, which resulted in us being tied in holy matrimony," Derek replied dryly. "That's how normally marriages starts."
"Don't be snarky with me, Wolfboy," Tori hissed. "You know perfectly what I mean. Now answer me before I throw my lightning at you and stun your ass so you can't sit for a week."
I didn't know what to do, I mean it is sort of embarrassing how our marriage came to be, but based on what I learned during the short time I spent with him I knew I could depend on him whenever the situation called upon it. And oddly enough I also managed to care and worry about him as well, even though I didn't really know much about him or his past.
"What? Maybe he has been dating her without us knowing about it, you know how secretive he is about his personal life," Simon interrupted, while trying to maintain the calm and civil tension in the room even though it didn't seem to work very well on Tori and Derek. "Its not like he went out and got drunk, met her and then married her the same night."
The room suddenly went quiet. It seemed like Simon had nailed the situation perfectly without realizing it, which made both Derek and I very much awkward and embarrassed to admit it out loud. Fortunately it seemed we didn't have to since Tori managed to connect the dots quicker than Simon.
"No way, that was what happened, wasn't it?" Tori said astonished. Her sparks died down due to the surprising truth, knowing that kind of situation was so unlike them. Tori knew how much of a goody-goody girl I was and didn't make impulsive decisions unless the situation called upon it. Which was probably why she began laughing like a maniac about the whole thing. "Ha-ha-ha, the most unlikely couple in the world ended up doing such an impulsive action and ended up getting hitched. Man, I can't wait to see your aunt's face when she finds out about this."
Mentioning Aunt Lauren brought me suddenly back to reality. I had forgotten all about her the entire time since I met up with Derek again and met his family. Damn, Aunt Lauren is going to freak out when she discover that I'm missing. I could only imagine how she was going to react finding out about Derek. She is probably going to surgically remove his manhood for marrying her niece without her permission. Why is my life so complicated?
"Never mind her right now, we have more important things to worry about than Aunt Lauren learning about my marriage," I said, trying to change the subject. Thankfully it seemed to have worked somehow, but I knew that once Tori and I was alone I was in for an interrogation of a lifetime seeing how I managed to keep this secret hidden from her.
"Fine," Tori said curtly before she dragged Simon off in order to make him help her out setting up the computer. Meanwhile Derek and I went down to the attic in order to through his father's documents about the Edison group, which might help us find out where they were keeping him.
Up in the attic the atmosphere between Derek and I was awkward to say it nicely, but I tried to ignore it as I began reading through the different files regarding the experiments. During the entire time I did so I felt like I have read something similar like this before, but I couldn't remember where from. Maybe I was starting to go insane like my maternal uncle? That might explain some things, but not a whole lot and I really didn't want to end up like him. So I shrugged it off and continued reading down the document about each other subjects in the experiment. It seemed like Simon was considered a success, although I'm sure he wouldn't say that since his power was much weaker than an average sorcerer, while Liz (who was a huge surprise for me to find on the list) was considered a failure and was apparently executed because she couldn't control her powers. As I continued reading down I stopped in the middle of the page when I saw two other name I recognized. It was Derek's name but mine as well, but it didn't make any sense since I don't remember being part of an experiment. Confused I continued reading and was shocked to find out our result of the study. It was highlighted with huge letters on the page and what the major shock of a lifetime to see how the Edison group determined Derek and I, we were considered Dangerous.
"What the hell?" I said in shock.
