Desperation
Bulma was sitting at her table twirling a chip in her hands that she just made. She had her magnifying glasses on her nose which were constantly sliding down because of the sweat that was dropping from her forehead. She checked if everything was in place once more and decided that there was nothing else that she could add.
"You done yet?" Vegeta's guestion echoed another countless time.
"I might be. I'm just not sure if the chip is really reliable."
"Is there any risk of harm?"
"There might be." She answered honestly. "We will find out soon." She said getting the chip to her temple. Vegeta caught her wrist with his newfound speed.
"Let me." He offered and without her accord he took the chip. "How does it work?"
"Just put it to your temple. It will stick there. I just made a chip which stimulates the subconsciousness. Might as well not work at all."
Vegeta did as he was told. The moment the chip touched his temple, he felt strange waves surging through his head.
"Are you OK? Feel anything?" Bulma asked. He stood there for a moment, not saying anything. He was about to say that the chip doesn't work, when…
"I… don't feel very good…" He said as he tottered and fell on the ground. He heard Bulma scream his name and blacked out.
Not even a second passed and all of his real life appeared before his eyes filling every corner of his brain, leaving no doubts. The last memory was the brightest one for it shocked him.
Goku's unconscious body was laying in the pool of rainwater. His fighting gi all torn apart. He was breathing peacefully. Vegeta stood next to him, his right hand hanging from the injury that Goku made. He was totally beat, lost to the Ultra Instinct Kakarrot. This saiyan once again became Vegeta's enemy. Only the tables have turned this time and the villain was played by the hero.
This third-class saiyan dared to surprass him in power and in brutality. He was about to slaughter his family in cold blood. He literally attacked Trunks. Vegeta was glad that he was in time to stop him. Or at least withhold for a short time before the Kais came with these two weird people who made the bastard unconscious.
Kibito ran over to Vegeta to heal him before he passed out.
"Thank you, Vegeta." He said.
"Whatever."
In no time he was well again.
"The only way to protect him from himself is to change the memories." Supreme Kai said.
"Son-kun…" Bulma said and Vegeta was about to ask what they were talking about.
Their world crumbled.
"Vegeta! Vegeta!" Bulma was shouting scared to death. A relief showered her when she saw him open his eyes.
"Those morons!" He growled as soon as opened his eyes. "To sacrifice all of us just for one lowlife."
Bulma watched him and he realized that she still doesn't know what he is talking about.
"Here, take it. It does no harm. You need to see it."
She took it and the same procedure followed. The next time her eyes opened, they were full of knowledge and clearance.
"What are we gonna do?" She asked.
"If only I could IT…"
"But what about Goku? We can't give him this chip. He might turn himself into that monster again."
"Let's not rush. We need to think." Vegeta said and walked out of the room.
Goku's and the creature's show was almost over. They were back in their hotel after one hell of a day. There was one thing left to do before his mind would be left alone. Goku pushed the creature to the wall and started kissing it with a clear hurry. Fortunately, this was convincing enough for the Kai's for he felt that they left his head. He was in the furthest corner of the room from the creature the moment his head was clear. All the hard work to keep his mind absolutely busy was finally gone. Goku collapsed on the floor, tired.
It was Chichi. Her incredibly strong ki was practically touching him. It was screaming for him to come, to check if she's all right, to ask what was going on but he couldn't even let himself feel it. It was so hard not to come to her and touch her, not to feel her out. He risked his perfect mind camouflage by glancing at her once. It pained him knowing that his expression scared her. The little fraction of a second was enough for him to be sure that this was his Chichi but not enough to fill the gap created by the Kais he once trusted. Goku buried the view of her face to the depths of his mind the second he saw her. But now this one fraction of a second was his. He remembered her beautiful face, her toned body, her worried eyes. Her incredible ki. She was perfect and unreachable.
He needed answers to what happened. But he was not sure what to expect in the god realm.
"Hey, umm, what is your name?" He asked and the memory of kissing this creature flowed through his mind disgusting him. The saiyan didn't realise that he was the first one to ask for its name.
"You can call me Alu." She said coming closer to him, ready to negotiate about the previous suggestion.
"Are you strong, Alu?"
"I might not be particularly strong, but I have my kind of powers which might be useful."
"Like what?"
"As you already see, I can change shape. This is pretty useful to confuse everyone. And if you remember Babidi, I have some of his powers too. But if you really want to join forces with me, we have to make a pact.
"A pact?" Goku asked thinking about the boring paperwork in his job.
"That is the only way I can trust you." Alu said.
"But that does not mean that I can trust you." Goku said. He realized that there was nothing he could trust anymore.
The creature said some foreign words and a golden paper with the same colour knife appeared from a black smoke.
"In the pact it is said we have to help each other. Not following the pact will have consequences. The pact is signed by blood."
"Are there any conditions?" Goku asked. The knowledge about paperwork was actually of a use this time.
"If rewera does not follow its words,
Its blood is shed to grant the immortality for the soul.
If the soul refuses to follow the treaty,
The sorrow of the soul is taken by rewera." Alu quoted.
"What is rewera?" Goku asked.
"This is how my kind is called. Your kind is called saiyans for example." Alu explained.
"And why use the world "soul". I'm not dead or anything." Goku laughed nervously.
"It's an old pact with old words." Alu winked in Chichi's body.
It was not a secret that everything looked suspicious to Goku now. The last line of the pact bothered him the most.
"What do you need my sorrow for?" He asked.
"You could say that this is our food. In your case you would lose what is bothering you and I would have a nice meal."
Goku had things that worried him. But sorrow? He couldn't think of anything. Alu took the knife and offered him. He stared at it very long thinking what he should do. There was no actual reason to sign it just yet. If Bulma already had a way to bring his memories back, he would probably not need assistance of this creature. But you never know…
"I'm gonna say no this time, sorry." Alu felt its opportunity slip from its hands by his words. But it did not lose its composure. With a snap of its fingers the pact and the knife disappeared.
"As you wish."
"I need to fly to Bulma and ask her if she's done." The creature did not respond.
"Can you fly?" He tried.
"I'm not gonna assist you."
"I might change my mind, you know. It all depends on whether she's done or not." This time the creature's attention was caught.
"I can fly. But I'm here as Chichi. She probably shouldn't be able to fly."
Goku remembered his wife's newfound ki which increased immensely as she took off somewhere. She definitely could fly (his body shivered from the excitement when he realised how strong his Chichi has become). But at this point she probably wasn't supposed to.
"When we are close, I'll carry you."
"Let's go then." They both took off.
During their trip Goku figured that Alu was pretty fast. There were at Bulma's door in less than half an hour. Bulma opened the door. Her expression was strange before it changed into a welcoming one.
"I'm still not done yet, Goku. We agreed that I would contact you." She said when they all settled in the living room. Fake Chichi came out from around the corner. She immediately went to the bathroom as they arrived.
"She's lying." She stated sitting down.
"Chichi? What are you talking about?" Bulma panicked for a second.
"How do you know that? Are you sure?" Goku asked.
"Positive."
"Bulma, if that's true, please, I need my memories back!" Goku jumped and leaned over the table.
"Chichi, are you calling me a liar?" Bulma tried to avoid Goku.
"Absolutely. I know you are lying. I have my own ways of finding that out." Chichi said looking at Goku. He understood that she meant her powers this way.
"Bulma, please!" He grabbed her arm. Vegeta appeared by her side at once.
"Put your hands away from my wife, Kakarrot." He pushed Goku.
"What is wrong with you people? Why don't you all let me have myself back?"
"We can't, Goku. There is a serious reason. You are more like yourself without those memories. I'm sorry." Bulma said.
"Tell me at least. I need to know the reason why, in order to fix it." He begged.
"Can we talk eye to eye for a moment?" Chichi interrupted them taking him by his hand and leading outside. When they were outside the door, Alu turned to him smiling.
"Listen, I can help you. You only need to sign the pact and you will have what you want." She said. The same pact appearing out of thin air.
The truth was so close to Goku that he couldn't resist. He had to know. He can handle whatever it is. He always did. He took the knife instinctively and lowered his ki so that the knofe could pierce his skin. He cut a little line in his palm, damaging the knife a little. A few drops of blood landed on the paper. The creature in Chichi's body did the same. He saw black coloured blood drop from a replica of Chichi's fragile palm and shivered. Their drops of blood mixed up and disappeared into the golden paper.
The mood of the creature changed. He saw relief.
"Wasn't that hard, was it?" Chichi's lips moved and a small chip appeared in her palm.
"This is your memories."
"When did you…?"
"When I went to the bathroom." Chichi interrupted him. "Put it on your temple."
Goku carefully placed the thing on his temple.
The last memories flooded him like an electric shock caring pain all over his body. The power which was hid from him within him unleashed. He saw everything including the reason for this masquerade. He saw himself in Ultra Instinct. He cried out when everything settled in place in his brain. Those places of his mind was severely blocked by the unknown powers. He didn't hear nor see when the whole Bulma's family rushed outside. He just felt how Vegeta's power raised in alarm. He was ready to fight. Goku knew why.
"When did you get the chip?!" Bulma gasped afraid.
Goku felt another ki raising. It was Trunks.
"Trunks, go get Gohan." Vegeta yelled.
"But he still doesn't know." Trunks said.
"We'll make him. I'll hold off this bastard. Take the chip."
Goku then felt Trunks' ki leave the area. The pressure in his head was finally getting off and he could finally straighten himself.
"Guys, I'm alright. I'm controlling myself." Was his words. His hands still clenched. He had to control himself. For the sake of his friends and family.
"The last time you said it, you almost killed us." Vegeta prepared himself into the fighting stance, already in super saiyan.
"We need to go to the god realm, Goku, and revenge them." Chichi reminded him.
"There is no need for revenge." Goku said in a calm voice. Everyone around him including Mr. and Mrs. Briefs were alarmed. Only Alu remained calm.
"Aren't you angry with what they did to you?" Chichi asked.
"No, I'm not." Yes, I am – A voice appeared in his head. He repeated to control himself in his head. He felt then there was something wrong with him.
"Are you sure?" Chichi asked.
"Chichi?!" Bulma gasped.
I want to revenge them, he thought.
"Don't push it, woman." Vegeta addressed Chichi.
"She's not Chichi." Goku said through clenched teeth. The voice in his head was beginning to annoy him. It was his voice, only a hundred times louder. Everyone around him were alarmed.
"What are you talking about, Kakarrot?" Vegeta asked.
"If you are not going to help me, Kakarrot, I'm gonna need to call our pact unsuccessful."
"Don't order me around!" Goku shouted barely containing himself. His other self smiled at the name.
Goku took a deep breath but it did not help. Vegeta was watching him getting in such an unstable shape. The older saiyan realised that he had to do something before it's too late.
He sprang himself towards Goku hoping that he would be in time to knock him out before something really bad happens.
The saiyan prince was wrong.
Goku caught his fist. His eyes, full of hatred, met Vegeta's.
"After all I've done to you, people," Goku started quietly almost whispering. "saved all of you, spared almost all my enemies, including you, Vegeta!" He pushed Vegeta away. His back hit the wall of Bulma's house. The whole planet started to shake from Goku's power. He was too shocked to react by the fierceness of Goku's voice.
"You all turn your back on me when I finally find my true saiyan self?!" He screamed the last sentence and exploded into the form they all feared.
The rigorous, clear, greyish eyes burned Vegeta to the core of his soul.
The creature behind Goku smiled victoriously. That's all Alu wanted. The cruelty of Goku would lead them to killing all the Gods and the reweras would finally be free.
