Once Kid got back to the classroom, he saw Flander dumping gallons of gasoline all over the classroom. She wasn't even being very mindful of the students.

"What are you doing?" Kid asked. Flander handed him a gallon.

"Making sure my conditions are fulfilled. Just extra precaution, you know."

Flander's Plan Unraveled; Can Kid Disable the Bomb in Time?

"You thought this through thoroughly," Kid's words almost formed a compliment as he began splashing the gasoline on the walls. Ugh, it was asymmetrical. "Honestly, I'm amazed."

"Shut up, Kid," Flander muttered. Kid continued his job in silence and set the gallon on the desk. Flander stood a few feet in front of him. "Is that all of it?"

"Yeah."

She extended her weapon and dumped the half-empty gallon on the floor near the students.

"No it's not."

Kid growled between his teeth, but her face remained emotionless. She turned away and brought a lighter out of her pocket and began twirling it around. Kid continued dumping gasoline everywhere, trying not to hurt anybody.

"The sun is setting," Flander sneered. "Better hurry or we'll all die."

"What?!" Maka thought. "The bombs are rigged to go off at sun down? Let's see, she said she also has complete control over the bomb, so she has to have a detonator on her somewhere. Something not too obvious…. Of course! The lighter! The detonator is in the lighter. We'd better be super careful with her now."

"Hey, Blackstar," Maka whispered desperately. The said meister glanced at her cautiously. "The detonator is in the lighter. Be careful, okay?"

"That's not really my style, but okay," Blackstar nodded and grinned slightly. They knew something they weren't supposed to—an upper hand.

"Hey, Flander!" Maka called across the room. Flander glanced at her. "I know you're having fun with this childish game and all, but we have a remedial class to finish. Quit being such an inconvenience all the time."

Flander's eyes widened, her pupils narrowing to pinpricks as she leapt across the room. She snarled and swung her hatchet down with both hands. The next thing Maka knew, she was on her back with the hatchet lodged into her stomach. Maka's vision blurred slightly and she let out a strangled cry of pain.

"Maka!" Soul shouted. "What's that idiot thinking?!"

"Go ahead," Maka whispered, glaring at Flander. "Kill me. If you're as soulless as you look, then it shouldn't be a problem."

Flander smirked and raised the machete above her head. "Okay, then, if you insist."

"Flander!" Kid snapped, leaping in between them and grabbing her wrist. He twisted it behind her back and held the machete at her throat. Flander clenched her jaw. Double timer.

"Get off me," Flander warned, raising the lighter. Just as she was about to flip it open, Blackstar came forward and kicked it out of her hand. Flander straggled against Kid. "You traitor! I said nothing funny!"

"Your weapon form is disabled, Flander," Kid said. "And your detonator is out of your hands. You gave yourself away, now you're a sitting duck."

He could feel fear radiating off of her.

I'm scared.

"Let me go!"

I'm so scared.

Flander couldn't break free from his grip, but one option still remained. Teleportation. She and Kid both blinked out of the room. The students merely stared at where they had been in shock before Spirit called everyone's attention.

"She'll set off the bombs soon!" he shouted. "Get everybody out; we need to be as far as possible when that happens!"

Soul Eater

They were on the roof, watching the almost beautiful sunset. The wind teased their hair. Kid could hear soft beeps of the bombs set up in eight corners of the roof—and they were set for eight minutes each. Kid held Flander's head back by her hair in one hand, the other occupied by the weapon under her chin.

"Flander, listen to me," Kid ordered. "You don't need to do this—any of it! Why would you do this? Do you see this? This world will go to ruin if your plans succeed. Is that what you want? Is it?!"

He gave her hair a violent yank and she whimpered.

"It must be what you want," Flander snarled. "If this is all you're going to do to stop it."

She twirled in his arms and kicked him away, snatching her weapon back and readying herself for a fight. Kid didn't hesitate to charge at her and try to kick her from above. Her height was definitely a weak point in some areas, but in others her greatest strength. She dodged and swung her hatchet in his direction. The battle lasted for a few minutes.

"Where are Kid and Flander?" Stein asked as the students flooded out of the school.

"On the roof!" Tsubaki pointed upwards. Kid and Flander were fighting, as it would seem.

"That must be where the bombs are, then," Stein said dismissively.

"You just wanted a little excitement, is that it?" Kid asked. "Ever since we defeated Marissa, your lifetime goal of vengeance was fulfilled. Now you thought you could just become an axe murderer and die a miserable death?!"

Flander lashed out at him.

"No," Kid said thoughtfully. "You wanted everything to be the same after we found out that Mom died. You never wanted us to know about what you caused."

"Shut up!"

She threw her hatchet down, but the hook snapped the circuit wires (thus disabling all the bombs) and lodged in the shingles of the roof. Kid stepped bravely in front of her and gently put a hand on her hands. The touch was warm and safe. She looked up at him.

"Flander, it's not your fault," he said. "No one blames you; we're not mad. And I know that's not the reason you're doing all this."

"Then just get on with it already!" Flander shouted, freeing her hatchet and striking him across the chest. He was pinned now. The weapon hovered over his torso.

"Flan, I know about your disease," Kid stated. Flander twitched and began scratching at her neck. "You're scared and you're in pain, I can tell. And I know that we didn't even try to help you, no matter how much you wanted it, it's like no one was even acknowledging you. You have a right to be angry, and destroy the world and exploit this secret illness for what it is, but you must find the will. I'm fine with this divine punishment. It all ends when you lower that hatchet."

"I… I won't."

"?"

"Kid, I…" she looked up at him. Her eyes were filled with tears. "I don't want to do it, Kid!"

She dropped her machete and collapsed to her knees, burying her face in her hands. Kid sat up and leaned towards her, wrapping his arms around her securely. He could see her soul again—the disease consumed it and blocked it out. Flander began crying; the tears wouldn't stop falling from her eyes. It hurt so much.

"It's alright," Kid soothed her. "I'm here. It's okay." He looked at her helplessly shaking form. "Stop crying Flan; you'll make yourself sick."

Flander tensed in pain, gritting her teeth and pulling away as she began coughing. Blood slipped through her fingers. Kid supported her as she started to lose consciousness. He put a hand on her forehead; she was burning up. He could see small maggots beginning to crawl out from between her bandages. He cradled her in his arms and stepped down off the roof. The bombs were disabled; everyone was safe, now it was time to help Flander.

Once he reached the ground, the others rushed towards him.

"I'm fine," he said. "The bombs are disabled. But right now, Flander's condition has gotten worse. We need to help her now."

"Nii-nii," Flander rasped, reaching a hand up to touch his neck. "Help, it hurts. Please…."

"I know, I know," Kid held onto her hand as she began struggling. He looked up at Naigus and Stein. "Please, help us!"

"Right, bring her inside," Stein ordered. Kid followed obediently, taking Flander to the infirmary and laying her down gently on the bed. She clung to his sleeve, begging him not to leave.

"Flan, it's okay," Kid reassured her, pulling away and stroking her hair. "I'm right here. We're going to help you, it's fine."

Flander let out a scream as pain flared throughout her whole body. Those darn maggots.

"Hold her down!"

She screamed again as something sharp was inserted into her neck and everything went black….

Gorey, violent, freaking heck. Well, I've made some progress. Just a few more plot-twists to go!
