Chapter Twelve
Some cats will die in this chapter...Sorry guys but they have to go sometime :) ENJOY!
White
I tremble with each step I take towards my old home. It's been a few hours of non-stop walking. Rabbittail, Flower, Runtpaw, and Cherrypaw are the only ones who stayed behind, with the kits. I look over at Goldenpelt and Blackfur who are just walking in silence.
The two of them came to us so their kits could live as equals and now they must fight against their own kin. "I can't wait," yowled Blacky who flies over us with the other fliers. Blacky and I haven't talked since our fight. Sometimes I think that maybe I shouldn't have rebelled that day. Maybe mutants belong under the "normal" cats. Maybe this is my punishment for messing with the natural order of things.
The WarriorClan cats are probably waiting for us. They are probably petrified. On one paw they did bring this upon themselves, but do two wrongs really make a right? "No but it makes you feel better," mewed the voice in my head. Go away! "White we are all simple creatures who crave destruction and chaos." "We hate anything or anyone different from us." Get to the point and leave me alone. A few of my clan mates and the mutant resistance members look back at me, but say nothing.
Most of my clan mates think I'm crazy since I'm always talking to myself, as of lately. "The point is White don't you want this pointless suffering to stop?" "You want eternal peace, right?" Y-yeah, but how can I get that when we all we do is kill? "I want you to join me of course." Join you? "Yes join me and the others." "Together we all can make a harmonious forest for all of us to live in."
I don't even know who you are and you want me to join you? How do I know you aren't just trying to trick me?" A few minutes pass before the voice begins speaking. "White I have no reason to lie about something like that." "I have seen what war and hatred can make." "The lives it ruins and takes." "The way it turns innocent kits into blood-thirsty monsters." "For as long as I could remember all I have ever seen is death and misery." "Even when the mutants were killed or beaten I felt sorrow and hatred." "I have a hatred for suffering." "I hate how we stand by and never learn from our ancestors." "It seems like we are forever bound to kill and suffer." "I want to end this bloody cycle."
Wow that's the most you have ever said voice. "White if you change your mind my followers will escort you to our camp, after the battle." Wait. The voice's presence quickly fadesaway, leaving me confused. Is this the path Flower told me about? It has to be.
Wildpelt's P.O.V
We all wait for the mutants in our attack formations. I and my siblings, Scarhide and Longleap are grouped up, since we are some of the best fighters of the clan. I look over at Blossomfur and smile. I'll keep her safe.
"No matter what we will take down as many of them as we can," screamed Scarhide. My brother has some new additions to his scar collection. Both of his ears have giant notches in them and his right fang was knocked upward so it sticks out. "Watch your mutants and if you even feel like they will turn on you, kill them," purred Longleap. My siblings are so cruel. They are blinded by an unnecessary hatred.
Why do we even have to fight? Why can't we just live together? I sigh knowing it always comes down to fighting. To death. To lives being lost. For what? Nothing really.
I sit while my heart is racing like the ancient warriors of Windclan. "Sir," they are approaching," yowled a mutant in the trees. "Good work slave," mewed Scarhide. Their pawsteps become louder and louder with each step they take. I stand up slowly. We all stand face to face in silence. Despite having many numbers we still outnumber them greatly, even if they took our mutants.
Bloodbath and that daughter of his walk out first. They both have cocky smiles plastered on their faces. Scarhide and Longleap both walk up to them with their claws unsheathe. "If I was WarriorClan I would give up and become our slaves," taunted Bloodbath. "We will never become your slaves." "Mutants are our slaves." "Father can we fight now." "I want to show them what a real mutant can do." "Are you guys sure?" asked Bloodbath once more. "Trust me we were holding back, but this time we'll give you a real reason to fear mutants." "Bring it," hissed Longleap and Scarhide at the same time.
"Wait," yelled a familiar voice. Out of the large crowd of mutants and former WarriorClan warriors White appears. The one who basically started all of this.
"Can we please no spill anymore blood?" "Can't we talk this out?" "We can live in harmony." "Our clan has showed this." The young cat gets hateful glares from both sides. "Never," yelled someone from her side. "Normal lover." The young cat flattens her ears and looks at both sides with hatred. "You fools!" "No one ever wins." "All we'll do is kill each other until no one is left." "As long as you mutants are gone then fine," yelled Wildfur.
"Guys please let us learn from our ancestors." "We can make this a better forest." "Please try to-" "Shut up," laughed Abyss. "We didn't come here for peace we came here for blood." White looks all around her. "Is there anyone who wishes to not fight?" "We don't have to fight." "We can go far away from here and live together."
I look around and see no one move. I take a deep breathe ready to walk towards her. "I'll come with you," mewed Blossomfur. Most of WarriorClan gasps in shock. Wildfur looks at his mate with his mouth wide open. "I'm tired of fighting." "I don't want to bring my kits into a world like this." "Your pregnant," yowled Wildfur. "The weak always try to avoid fighting," said Longleap as she walks closer towards Blossomfur.
Oh no! I get in front of Blossomfur and hiss at my older sister. "Step aside little sister or you'll suffer the same fate as her." "Please don't hurt her," mewed Wildfur. "I love her."
"Love." "Such a stupid thing." "Makes you do stupid things, right Wildpelt? I quickly duck knowing she was going to try and sneak attack me. I lunge forward towards her and ram her to the ground with my more muscular frame. She uses her longer legs and kicks me off of her. In the process her long claws scrape against my underbelly. A little blood trickles out, but I ignore the pain.
"Why fight for someone who doesn't even love you?" Longleap stop this is insane. She is our clanmate. Just let her leave. "I can't do that." "She has to die like the rest of those freaks." She charges at me and claws at my face. I bite down on her front leg and try to pin her down, but she curls up into a ball, causing me to let go of her leg.
Ahhh! Wildfur? I turn towards Wildfur and see him dead in a small pool of his own blood. My brother, Scarhide stands above him frowning. "He shouldn't have stuck his nose in where it didn't belong." Wildfur's throat is slit. Blossomfur cries over his dead body. I try to run towards her knowing she stands no chance against Scarhide, but Longleap bites down on the back of my neck. She bites down to the bone. I scream to Starclan. I have never felt a pain like this. "Stop worrying about her, she'll be dead in a few seconds." No! Please spare her! I just watch as Scarhide moves closer to a sobbing Blossomfur.
Skyheart and Slither runs twoards Scarhide. Longleap lets go of me and tackles Skyheart to the ground. I fall down and try to regain my strength. Scarhide looks down at Blossomfur. In the nick of time Slither saves her. He tackles Scarhide to the ground. They all tussle on the ground. "Attack," yelled Scarhide. "Kill," laughed Bloodbath. Both sides charge. They collide with such fierceness. Claws and fangs rake against each other. The wailing of the fallen deafens my ears.
I lean against a tree and watch as we kill each other. As we repeat the mistakes our ancestors made. Why?
To anyone who liked Wildfur sorry for killing him off. So much blood has been shed..THere will be more :)
