Chapter 11
On my way to class, I felt something unusual within the atmosphere. I look around my surroundings and down a few halls. As I reached the classroom ad opened the door, I saw the whole room completely empty of students and teacher. I went towards the other classroom across the hall from mine to ask where my class went, but that classroom was also empty just like mine. I found it strange and suspicious as I went to check the other classrooms. Each and every one of them was empty. I ran to the main office of the school and went in; even the office was emptied out. It was as if the whole school has become a ghost town. I made my way out of the office ad in front of me was Rider and Vower. "What are you doing here?" I asked while I prepare myself in case they attack me. Vower replied and told me, "I'm here to meet a colleague of mine. But it seems to me that there isn't a single soul here at all." Athena all of a sudden showed up and glared right over at Rider. "Why don't we look around to see if we can find someone?" Vower suggested.
Athena went into a defense position and questioned Vower, "Why should we trust you?" Rider then answered back, "We aren't here to fight you. But if we were, I would have struck you the moment you two entered the office." Rider has a point, they would have attacked us while we were just running around the whole school, meaning we were defenseless, but they didn't. It seems that even Athena knows it too and lowers her shield down.
Both Vower and I had our servants dematerialize as we begin searching for someone else in the school. While we do so, we just chatted about some random topics such as the news of events that are happening around the world. So far we searched throughout half of the school campus, still no one to be seen at all. Something feels very wrong here and I'm sure Vower feels it too, not just that, but the atmosphere feels quite unusual. Since we've been walking and searching around for quite some time, we decided to take a break and sat down near a bench outside of the cafeteria. I look down at the ground still thinking about my encounter with those two mysterious people, I wondered if they could be behind the quiet, emptiness of the school. As I continued to think about it, Vower tapped me by the shoulder and it got my attention. I look to him and he told m, "Someone's here, and I don't think they're from the school," while looking a bit uneasy. I sensed it myself after he did and it seems like there are two of them, could it be those two from before? If so, then they followed me this far to school.
We followed the presence and it led us straight into the theater room. As we walked in through the door, there was a man standing on the stage playing a violin. While still cautious, Vower and I slowly walked up to him. The man stops playing and looks over at us with a calm and peaceful face. I have no clue what he's doing here; I don't even remember seeing him before in school at all. Before I could ask him anything about the missing students and staff here, his face instantaneously turned cruel and an evil grin appeared, "Kill them Berserker," he says. Berserker? I swore I heard him say Berserker, but before I had a chance to think, a loud roar came from above us. Vower and I both looked up at the ceiling and we saw something. A figure was charging straight down at us. We immediately dodged away from it and the figure crashed down onto the floor and forced a small crater underneath it. I couldn't believe it, of all people, it had to be Berserker and his master. When I try to think of a plan to deal with the enemy in front of us, both Rider and Lancer shows themselves and confronted the enemy. "Master, stand back," Rider says to Vower while his back is turned to him. I look over to Athena, her face looking vicious as she faces towards the enemy. Berserker is a rather dangerous enemy to go up against, if he's here, then more likely the other enemy servant should be around as well.
Berserker looks to be wearing a military uniform that's all torn up and covered with what looks to be a great amount of holes. I noticed a wound on the neck; it seems like a bullet wound. He had barely any hair but still enough to cover his head. He wielded a claymore in one hand while a bow and an arrow is strapped on his back. The enemy grabs one of the nearby chairs and hurls it at me, but Lancer intercepts it and blocks the hurling chair with her shield. It had knocked her back a bit, but she continues to maintain her balance and her focus.
He charged at us growling with an intense killing intent. Both Rider and Lancer intercept him to protect us. While our servants were fighting, we stayed back to give support to them since it us one of our duties as masters. Lancer leapt into the air and thrusts her spear towards Berserker, but he hits it aside with his claymore. She then spins counter clockwise and smashes the enemy in the face with her shield. It knocked him back and left him stunned only for a small moment. Rider took that advantage and came up from behind and strikes Berserker with his sword. Unfortunately, he wasn't fast enough and Berserker regains his composure and grabs Rider. As Rider struggles to break free from his grasp, Berserker slams him into the ground. "Rider!" Lancer shouts as she's concern for him. She charges at our fearsome foe, and while doing so, Berserker throws Rider right at her, knocking them both down onto the ground. While both Rider and Lancer picks themselves up, Berserker starts charging at them, so Lancer quickly stands back up and places her shield in front of both Rider and her, and Berserker swings his claymore directly towards the shield. His sword smashes the shield with brute force and sends Lancer flying into a wall. As I start to get more and more concern about whether or not we can survive this battle, next to me, Vower starts using his magic and used it on Rider. The cuts and scrapes on Vower's servant slowly vanish, but not all disappeared. "You use healing magic?" I asked looking over at Vower. The old man chuckled, "You'd be amazed at what I can do," responding to my question.
I decided to impress him by showing off a bit of my abilities. I placed my hand on the ground and did an incantation. Rocks rose and clumped together, forming together a stone boar. I then had it charge at Berserker hoping it would do some damage to him. But it didn't go as expected; the enemy swung his claymore and immediately destroyed the stone boar like it was nothing. "Not bad at all," Vower told me, "How about you try it again and this time I'll go and enhance the strength of it?" It sounded like a decent plan, I nodded in reply to his idea and this time I summoned a snake made of ice. Vower then increases the snake's strength by a tad margin. The ice-made snake slithers around towards Berserker, dodging his swings and jumps at him, wrapping itself around him to restrain his movements.
It only held him for a few seconds, but those few seconds were enough for both Lancer and Rider to back up and regroup with each other to catch their breaths. The battle was dragging on long enough, perhaps maybe too long. Both Vower and I looked at each other in the eyes; it seems we both are thinking of the same thing. We need to escape and avoid this type of enemy for a while, maybe until we're more prepared to face him next time. I knew just the thing to keep our enemy at bay. I made a fist and blew into it, and then I opened up my fist and about two dozen small flaming birds all flew out of the palm of my hand. They flew towards Berserker and attacked him, pecked at him and even scratched at him. He can't possibly take out all the birds at once. The birds were doing their job and obviously annoying him quite a lot. It was enough time for us to all withdraw our servants and escape. We quickly ran out of the theater room and into the cafeteria. The location of where we're at had enough open space for us and our servants to move around more freely without those pesky chairs all over the place to get in their ways. We stood our ground, waiting for the enemy to pursue and attack us, but time passed and we were still waiting. Eventually the enemy presence we felt had disappeared. We lowered our guard for just a bit and looked at one another, unsure if the enemy is playing tricks and just hiding their presence. I looked to Rider, then over at Vower and asked him, "Well, what do we do now?" He seemed a bit uncertain and looks down on the ground under us and then back up to me, "We should get out of here as soon as we can and figure all this out," he suggested.
He's right as usual; pulling back is the only option for us. We headed out of the school as fast as we could while we still had our guard up; so far nothing has happened yet since we left the theater room. As the both of us headed our separate ways, we warned each other to be careful. The first battle has started and ended just like that, "I have to get Athena stronger," I thought to myself. While I was thinking, Athena appears and asks me, "Is something the matter Master?" I just shook my head and told her it was nothing. For now, I should contact both Victoria and Maya to let them know of the situation I had gotten myself into. Filling them in would be the best course of action and it would allow us to devise a plan to deal with an enemy like Berserker for future battles. By the time I got home, it was dark and the lights in my house were lit. I unlocked the door and walked right in with Athena following in behind me. Out of the kitchen came my sister, "Welcome back, how was school?" Mia asked. "It went okay as usual, boring and tiresome," I lied. I didn't like worrying her, last time she worried about me, I had a fever. She literally chained me up in bed to prevent me from moving too much as she took care of me. That was a horrible day that day and it gets worse, but I'll save it for another time. "Is that so? Well, dinner will be ready shortly," she says, "I hope you like my specialty Lancer." Athena replied, "I look forward to it ma'am." Mia gave us a smile and went back to cooking dinner. I, on the other hand, just walked over to the living room and sat down on the couch, today really was tiresome. I flipped through the channels to see what was on. While I was changing channels I stopped at the news as it said something that had caught my attention. It talked about some person wearing a cloak and jumped off a tower but disappeared; the strangest part is that when the police went inside the building to get him don, they discovered countless numbers of slaughtered bodies all over.
Bodies were spread on the floor as blood smothered all over the walls. The police assume it must've been the person who jumped off and disappeared, so they're looking for the suspect as of right now. The only thing that they could use to identify the suspect is that they wore a green cloak- wait; there is someone whom I know that wears a green cloak. But I try not to believe it was him at all, in fact, he wouldn't need to. "Dinner's ready!" Mia says aloud while in the dining room placing down the food. "Alright, on my way," I replied. Athena is over at the table helping my sister out; I turned off the television and got up off the couch. I then went into the dining room to eat with them. The night was peaceful and calming, if only it'll remain that way.
