Thank you so SO much for all the reviews follows and favorites! You make my day! :D

"You feeling better?" Steve asked Bucky, looking up from his book about some British boy who seemed to be a sort of wizard. He wondered if Peggy would like it…He would have to go visit her and ask later. Maybe, if he was up to it, Bucky would come too. Steve smiled at the thought.

They were on the roof of Stark Tower. It was a beautiful summer day and Tony had a random array of reclining lawn chairs and picnic benches for when he met with what was left of the good SHIELD. Because SHIELD was no longer a real organization Tony had said they had to earn the right to have a "real meeting table organization thing." Fury was not amused.

Bucky was sitting next to Steve on one of the many array of benches, his metal arm shined in the bright summer sun and he tried to look as relaxed as Steve. The sounds of the city were far below them, yet Bucky felt his heart beat a mile a minute at the speed of the world around them. It was clearly going to be difficult to simply turn off over seventy years of training to notice everything that was around him. But he would try, for Steve.

Bucky said nothing but he smiled half-heartedly as a response before looking back at his legs, aggressively picking at a stray strand of fabric that was out of the seam of his jeans.

Steve set down the book to his side and moved from sitting across from Bucky to sitting next to him. "Do you still feel unsafe?"

He wasn't accusatory or even annoyed, just sad. There were days, many in fact, that he wondered if Bucky would always live in fear, always worried that an attack will be nearby, always on edge over the danger that could occur. Steve didn't even realize he was gripping the edge of the table until he heard it start to crack. If he ever got his hands on Hydra…

"I don't know…" And that was the truth. Bucky didn't know. He never understood his own feelings anymore, he couldn't focus on anything unless it was an order or if Steve was with him. But Steve couldn't be with him forever. Oh he would try, Bucky knew that, but the world was too important to protect for Steve to waste time with his broken friend. The day would come when Steve had to go off and save the world again and Bucky wasn't ready for it. But he wouldn't stop him, because he understood that he wasn't as important as innocent people.

Steve nodded, understand what Bucky meant but wanting with every fiber of his being to be able to help his friend, to make him feel like things were going to be okay, that together, they could make it okay. Steve opened his mouth to try and ask what but then there a flash of blinding light coming from behind him, he feel like there is a hot flash of lightening literally behind him and Bucky's eyes widen in fear.

"GET DOWN!"

Steve felt Bucky wrap himself around his body and take him down on the ground, covering Steve with his body as a shield as the light continued to blind the both of them. Steve tried to say Bucky's name, tell him what's happening but he can't hear himself think and doubts Bucky could hear him over the roar of the thunder.

Steve feels Bucky jump off of him as the light ends suddenly. 'Bucky wait, he's a friend!" Steve screamed, grabbing Bucky's wrist just as Bucky bends down to his ankle to whip out a knife from a compartment of his boot.

Thor looks at both soldiers with an apologetic look in his puppy dog eyes, gripping his hammer with a loose hand as he made sure to hold it in a non-threating stance. "I am sorry my friends for the scare but I had to come and warn you immediately."
Bucky bared his teeth at the tall blonde man, practically hissing at this strange new man who dares to call them his "friends." Bucky didn't know him, and therefore he is an enemy. But he still feels the taut grip of Steve's fingers as they continue their tight hold on his flesh wrist, so he stays still, but he doesn't let go of the knife that is being held at his side, ready the moment it looked to be a fight occurring.

"Bucky it's alright." Steve got up gingerly from the cemented floor of the roof, the sudden impact with the ground not agreeing with his body. He set a hand on Bucky's metal shoulder to silently communicate that he was there with him, that they were safe and together. "This is Thor, he's a friend of mine and the others, I promise, he's not with Hydra." Bucky respond, only looked at Thor with suspicion with his steely blue eyes.

"But that does not mean they are not coming." Thor says gravely, taking a step sideways from the metal armed man so not to frighten him more. He was clearly a friend of Rogers and therefore he was now a friend of his.

"What do you mean?" Steve frowned worriedly, a sinking feeling in his stomach forming from the foreboding sentence.

"I have been keeping an eye on my follow Avengers friends, and Jane since it became capable to travel between worlds again." Thor answered, an urgency to his usually strong tone that Steve had never heard from the man before. "And I have seen what is coming to attack this tower and all who reside in it."

Bucky felt his heart speed up and stop seemingly at the same time.

He knew it.

He always knew that they would come and make sure that Steve and their now useless asset was destroyed for what they had done to their organization. They were coming for Steve. "When?" Bucky spoke for the first time, standing tall and moving a step closer to Steve, his arms crossing as he stared demandingly at Thor.

"Soon. But we still have time for the element of surprise if we go now." Thor answered insistently.

"We'll need to know everything." Steve said sternly, sounding like a captain for the first time in a very long time.

Hearing the door to the roof slam open, all three men prepared themselves for a battle before seeing that it was only a speechless Bruce and an amused Tony.

"See science buddy?" Tony gestured to the three warriors with a flick of his wrist. "I told you they were planning a beef-cake party without us." Tony thankfully missed Bruce's roll of the eyes before looking back at the three men. "So what did we miss?" Steve noticed he purposely kept his gaze away from Bucky and Steve. Clearly they hadn't been forgiven just yet. Not that Steve blamed Tony for his reluctance, but now wasn't the right time to think about it.

"We're under attack." Steve answered harshly as he turned towards the two scientist before walking through the door with Bucky close behind. "Hydra's coming so we're going to bring the fight to them." Steve said nothing more he went to go prepare, leaving Bruce and Tony confused as they turned to Thor for answers.

Steve turned his head to his side to see Bucky walking in sync with him, ready to go into this battle alongside of Steve, just like before, and Bucky had no problem with this. There was no way that anyone was going to keep him from coming with them. Steve clapped a hand to Bucky's back, a grim smile set on his lips to which Bucky returned.

This was it. This was Steve's chance to slaughter the rest of the cursed Hydra. They were not getting away this time.

Steve was going to make sure of that.
