(Klaus POV)
I was lying in bed and trying to think about what today would hold for my little Tyler. Today he was 10 months old and tomorrow he would be going to church, because it would be Sunday. I rolled onto my side to look at my clock. 6:00. It began to beep and I pushed the button before getting up. I stretched my arms wide and walked over to my bathroom.
I took a bath and washed my hair before going downstairs and getting Tyler's food ready. He was old enough to have solid foods. I heard Henrietta walk in. I stayed near the microwave but did turn to face her; we were always up before the hybrids.
"So what are you going to do with the little one today Master?" she caressed my cheek and I smiled at her.
"I have no clue. Today is Saturday, if he were older, I would just let him sit and watch TV. If only for an hour or two. I don't need to go to the store and he's already gone to the park." I replied and kissed her.
"Mmm. Well maybe you could invite other children over? You know, because he will have to deal with others at the church, depending on where he's going, is he going to sit with you? Or is he going to sit with others besides you?" I smiled. I took her hand and kissed her cheek.
"Sometimes you give such good ideas." I kissed her bottom lip, took the bottle out of the microwave, and sat it down to cool off enough not to burn. I walked over to the fridge and opened the fridge to get a bag of blood, B +, perfect. "Tomorrow, because he is a hybrid, I'll give him a cup of blood."
"That's a good idea. Well I'm going to go practice my magic."
"I'll see you later." I replied and downed the whole bag after a few minutes. I went up to Tyler's room and picked up the few toys Tyler had played with yesterday. He woke up and I cradled him as he rubbed his eyes. I would never admit it but this was probably Tyler at his cutest. I kissed his forehead, laid him on the changing table, and began my work.
I powdered his bottom and his crotch before I taped up his diaper. I looked up to his face and he was frowning. He still wasn't used to this. I put a pacifier in his mouth and he smiled. He had grown to like them. Which was good, he was going to be using them a lot anyway. I tickled his foot until I heard that adorable laughter. Tyler squirmed to get out of my reach. I kissed his cheek and picked him up. I carried him downstairs, where the rest of the hybrids were sitting, waiting for me.
"Good boy Ty Ty." I whispered into his ear. He grabbed my hand and held it close to him. This behaviour was what was telling me I was getting somewhere with Tyler. Maybe by the time he's two, I'll change his name to Mikaelson… maybe not.
I sat Tyler down in his high chair and tied a Blue's Clues bib around his neck. I looked at the hybrids and they began to eat as I fed Tyler. He fought me over the solid food. I caught his hand and tried again, from experience, he obeyed. When the food was gone, I picked him up, cradled him in my arm, and fed him his bottle, he was pleased with the taste and before I finished I heard Henrietta come in again.
I finished Tyler's feeding and then sat him back in the chair before wiping his face clean. I turned to her. "Master, come with me, I looked up something that might interest you." I sighed but followed her.
"Stefan says he wants to meet you sometime tomorrow."
"No." I turned right back to the kitchen but she snatched my hand. I waited for a second try.
"He only wants to be your friend; I think he might have news on that cure thing."
"I don't care, I'll deal with it Henrietta. Take Conner to Stefan, he's his toy now. I have Tyler Lockwood to deal with."
"By the way, get ready for him to be able to walk, he should be able to stand up to a conversation now, or at least in baby form. Teach him more words."
"Okay. I'll do that. When does he need to know how to walk?"
"I'll look that up, I'm sorry." I left back to the kitchen to grab Tyler, I already had my breakfast. I carried him back to his room, I went back to get some things and found him digging through his toy chest. I clicked my tongue and his attention turned to me.
He whined and kept digging. I sat down in the centre of the room, put down a candy, took the twelve cups, and clicked my tongue again. He ignored me. I raised my brow. Fine, I'll get your attention another way.
"Tyler!" I called; he turned to me, sighed, and crawled over to me, before he spotted the candy. I smiled before covering it up with one of the cups and began to slowly move the candy around with the cups, hiding it from his sight; I moved the cups five times before turning to him. "Find the candy." I sang. He smiled before knocking one of the cups down and frowned, it'd been the wrong one.
I lifted the right hand cup and showed him the candy. I shuffled the cups again, with the candy and gave him another chance. This time he picked up the right hand cup and it wasn't there. He frowned, concentrating hard now. I shuffled again and he picked up the centre cup and found the candy. I handed him the candy before replacing it with another one, along with another cup.
We played that game until we ran out of cups and candies. I kissed his cheek before retrieving more candy. He was a hybrid, he could have as much candy as he wanted and he had teeth now... okay he's had teeth.
I put the candies in a pile and began to build a tower with the cups, a pyramid. He tried to sneak a candy but I stuck them in my pocket and knocked the tower over. I pointed to him. "You're turn. Build a tower or a pyramid."
I watched him struggle with it but when he did, I handed him a candy and clapped. "Yay! Ty Ty!" I smiled and kissed his forehead. He whined and backed up. I only smiled more before I built a tower with the cups, putting a piece of candy under every other one. I looked at him. "Now, see if you can put them together." I handed him the two that were useless in the pyramid, to show him what I meant.
He put the cups up very well and I heard Henrietta come in. I looked at her, trapping a piece of candy under my hand just to keep Tyler's attention. Though by now I think I know what he was looking for. His favourite toy.
"What is it love?"
"Lunch time is only five minutes away and I've called for mothers to bring their children over for a playdate."
"Please tell me you only asked for one."
"Yes, I have only one coming over, I don't expect Tyler to be able to handle more than one child. What are you doing anyway?"
"Giving him candy." I answered. I picked Tyler up and handed him his phone. He pressed a button and started the fun away. I carried him downstairs and sat him in his high chair. I ate my lunch first before feeding him his bottle. I gave him his spoon and took away his phone. He didn't do anything, the other hybrids were here, but I could tell he wanted to throw a tantrum over it.
I took the spoon, fed him a spoon full, and then handed it back. He only made a mess of the food before I stopped and fed him myself. I cleaned the mess up quickly before dropping Tyler down in his crib for a nap.
I went down to the living room to meet Stefan. He had come over and he was holding a stake. I snatched it and he stared at me. I threw the stake into the fire and sat by him. He handed me a bottle of wine.
"What's this for?"
"Because I'm bored. I was wondering if you wanted to go do something fun. Rekindle our friendship."
"Where did you have in mind?"
"The Mystic Grill?"
"I have thirty minutes, why not?" Actually, I had an hour but whatever. I followed him to his car and he drove to the grill, as he said. I went in and ordered a burger and fries. He ordered a bourbon and then we split the stuff, not feeling particularly like eating myself.
I was right about to get up and leave when I saw Caroline. She was talking with Elena and Bonnie. I pointed at them and Stefan smiled. I can't remember who was with who for the Salvatore's but he still seemed to be happy with Elena. Though considering how Stefan's posture was, Elena was with Damon Salvatore.
I pushed him and he stood up. "Go say something." I whispered before laughing. I smirked when I noticed Rebekah hanging with Matt. Great. I was always in for Stefan and Rebekah being together, at least Stefan and I were friends, and I didn't want him dead.
Stefan began to walk to the girls and turned around to look at me, at least three times. Asking for assurance. I nodded every time before listening in on them. I watched as Stefan talked to them and they seemed quite pleased.
He walked right back over to me after a full conversation. "You're turn. Go talk to Caroline."
"I, my friend, talk to her when I choose."
"Klaus is afraid, Klaus is afraid." He began to sing. I smacked him before walking over to her with a full glass of bourbon, to which Stefan complained. I walked up to Caroline and she turned to me. Her eyes said something nice but her actions turned hostile.
"What do you want Klaus?" She asked. Bonnie and Elena glared at me. I wasn't particularly a favourite anyway.
"I wanted to know if you wanted a free drink." I offered her the glass and she only stared at it with disdain. "Did you want something besides bourbon, sweetheart?" I asked.
"I told you I would die of thirst before I had a drink with you."
"Would you like an empty glass?" I asked. She scoffed at me and then turned away before I could catch a smile on her face.
"Just leave us alone Klaus." I nodded.
"As you wish, my love." I teased and turned to go back to Stefan.
"Thank God." He snatched the drink and gulped it all down. "Don't you ever offer her or any other girl my beer ever again." He said and winked at me. "So, how'd it go?"
"It was wonderful, now if you excuse me I must go." I vamped home to find a woman at my house with a baby girl. I snuck up to Henrietta. "What did you do? There is a woman down there."
"Yes, remember Tyler is supposed to play with another of his age?"
"Fine. I'll see if I can play nice. Though tell me she's a witch."
"What's wrong with a human?"
"I don't know how to treat a human more than a food source. Or at least one I could care less for." I answered before going to Tyler's room. I changed him into a clean diaper and carried him downstairs to see Henrietta was talking to the woman. She turned her gaze to me and I smiled and nodded. Grateful she'd come down here to help me.
I sat Tyler down with the girl and handed him a rattle and a Barney pacifier. He seemed to blush at the pacifier; I ruffled his hair and sat down with the women. She held out her hand. "Hello, I'm Liliana Woodstitch. I've met your wife, Henrietta. And your name?" she asked.
I shook her hand. "I'm Nathan Pierce." I answered.
"Nice to meet you Nathan. My daughter is only nine months old herself. Brianna. That's her name. Your son's name?"
"Tyler Pierce." I answered. Really? I chose Pierce? Oh well I won't see her but once anyway.
"I'm a teacher who teaches 3rd grade. What are your professions?"
"I am a doctor and he is a priest but he chose to go into another field of study so he is in the middle of changing jobs." Henrietta answered.
"What do you think you will start working for?"
"I have no clue." I replied, watching Tyler and Brianna fight over a cookie. I handed Tyler a cookie and he ate it slowly. Henrietta tapped my wrist and I turned to her. "Yes?"
"She asked you a question. She wanted to know where you were born."
I turned to Liliana. "I was born in New York. I grew up around a bunch of gangs, entered one but dropped out and moved when I realized it wasn't for me. So I became a preacher and I learned the word of God. I learned of his love and his miracles. I worked as a preacher for a while until the church I worked at was shut down. So now, I am jobless but because of my lovely wife, I have a huge income of money. Thank you Henrietta. I don't know where I would be without you." I said and kissed her lips before turning back Liliana. She had tears in her eyes.
"Do you mind if I hug you? I feel like you had a hard life growing up. How did you ever make it?" I hugged her and stopped before my Hybrid face could appear.
"Yes I had a hard time growing up but the good thing was I had a strong will, even if I did grow up on the streets."
"Have you gone to college?"
"Yes. Many times in fact. I went to a two-year college and then I transferred over to a four-year college. I finished the two years and then I had four years, so I guess I had six years of college. It was fun so that is all that matters."
"Who paid for you college?"
"Henrietta. I had met her after I was shot on the street, that's when I quit the gang. She cured me. We've been together ever since."
"How long have you two been married?" I looked at Henrietta, she looked away feeling guilty. I looked back to Liliana. When was this over?
"We have been married for two years. And you?"
"I've been married for four years. This is my first-born. We waited before we had sex." I almost sneered at her but Henrietta kissed my lips before she could see anything. I smiled at her. "You two were meant for each other." She sighed. A true romantic.
I heard a smack and looked to see that the girl was hitting Tyler. I snatched Tyler away before he could react. He did begin to cry. I huffed and began to bounce him, kissing his cheek, and whispering to him. Liliana took hold of Brianna and asked to be excused to the bathroom. I nodded and cradled Tyler. He was bawling and I gave him my palm and he kissed it before sticking my thumb in his mouth. He began to suck on my finger and I replaced my finger with his pacifier.
He was almost lulled to sleep and I stopped. I kissed his cheek and handed him his phone. He began to play with it, smiling. I smirked at Henrietta. She kissed me again. "We are not married." I whispered and tilted my head.
I heard a crying a child and the door open. I stood up, handing Tyler to Henrietta. I walked over to the girls. "What happened?" I asked, worried the crying might start Tyler up again.
"Nothing. I'm so sorry for her behaviour, we're going home. I'll call you later." She said and carried the girl out of the house. I was hit with the realization that I should ask Tyler if he did anything. I would be able to tell if he's lying, I could with any of my hybrids. I walked into the living room, sat Tyler on my lap, and forced his face to look at me.
"Tyler? Tell me you did NOT have anything to do with that. Please Tyler?" I begged. He frowned.
"Uh uh Dada. I no ba." He frowned more and I kissed his cheek. I didn't get any hints of a lie, only of discomfort.
"Good Ty Ty. Dada is proud of his little one."
He clapped. "Yay!"
"Now I believe it's time for dinner." I carried him to the kitchen and was greeted with many hellos. I sat Tyler in his chair and gave him a spoon and a plate of cut up carrots, baby green beans and some mushed greens. I ate my dinner with delight that it was almost time to clean and send him to bed.
When I was done eating, Tyler had made a mess with the mushed greens but the other foods were cleanly out of sight and in his tummy. I cleaned off the table and wiped his mouth off before carrying him to his room. I unclothed him and he whimpered. Cold.
"Shush baby. It's going to be okay. I pwomise." I soothed. I wiped down his crotch and his bottom before putting him in the warm water. He shivered from the sudden change in temperature. I took a cup and poured water down on his hair. We were going to church tomorrow after all. He cried from the water and I kissed his cheek and did it again. He cried and moved away. I put him back and held him while I washed his hair.
I washed his body, of course, he whimpered from that, and I got an idea. I went and retrieved his water basketball toy. He played with that while I finished his bath and washed his hair. I picked him up and dried him off while he played with his phone. I carried his naked body to the changing table and diapered him up in a night diaper, dressed him in a dark blue footie with a drop seat.
I found a book and read it to him while he drifted off to sleep. I laid him in his crib and gave him a pillow. I left his room after turning on a night light and closed his door. I sighed in relief that today was easy, he was getting used to his daily night-time routine and me. He didn't struggle as much or try to hit me.
Tomorrow would be harder. He would have to deal with at least fifty people. More than one child. I walked down to the living room to see Henrietta. I laid close to her and sighed.
"Today was long. I'm ready for bed, but first I want you to tell me why you thought it would be okay to say we're married? You know how I feel about Caroline."
"Yes I do. I thought it would be a better answer as to why I kiss you and help you with your story. Don't worry. I doubt we'll ever see her again. She said that she won't come over again until you say something."
"Fine. Good job. Well, I better get to bed, or I won't wake early for church."
"Nonsense. The alarm wakes you up just fine. But, yes Master, I understand." I kissed her cheek before getting up and taking a bath myself. I dressed myself in red shorts before getting in bed. I turned on the music from the remote and my lights turned off, the candles flickered on and slow soothing music began to play. I laid my head down and fell to sleep, eventually.
