Heavy eyes opened slowly to the constant hum of a heart monitor.

The sound of the quiet beeps was reassuring, it meant he was alive, which was better than being dead.

Again.

Jason tried to move his head but couldn't turn it to the side, every single muscle was aching and his head was booming, it felt like he'd been hit hard multiple times in the head, oh wait, he had.

His vision was blurry at best and it didn't help that the room was appeared to be spinning.

"Don't move." A deep voice warned him.

Jason didn't even know where the voice came from, it sounded like it came from everywhere.

"You need to rest Jason." the voice spoke again.

It sounded an awful lot like Bruce, Jason thought to himself, of course it was Bruce, Dick had called him, a part of Jason whispered to run away, he didn't want to see him, he didn't want to see all the disappointment in his eyes.

"Go...away." Jason rasped, his voice was too quiet, he sounded so weak and pathetic.

"You are on a lot of pain medication." Bruce replied, "You can't be left alone Jason, I can't let you escape again."

"As you can...see…" Jason closed his eyes painfully, "...I'm too drugged to move…"

Bruce was silent, and so was Jason, for a while the only sound was the low beeping of Jason's heart monitor.

"Bruce…" Jason asked, but it was more of a whisper, "...is Tim...alive?"

"Yes." Bruce replied.

A small smile graced Jason's lips, then he slipped back into deep sleep.

"Robin!"

A small voice shouted as Dick walked past Timothy Drakes bed.

"How...How is Jason doing?" Tim asked desperately.

Caught off guard by the unexpected question, Dick turned around see Tim sitting up with a serious look on his bruised face.

"He's doing okay, he's still unconscious, but alive." Dick explained tiredly, watching Tims expression change to one of relief.

"Since your awake, do you want me call anyone for you? A family member? Or guardian?" he asked.

Tim thought for a moment, his gaze fell upon his broken arm in a cast.

"There's no one left-" he said in a calm voice "- it was always just me and my parents, my dad died last year, plane crash, and my...my mom's gone now."

Dick just nodded at Tim, a look of sympathy on his face, he knew how that felt, there was nothing he could say.

Tim looked up at Dick.

"I'm an orphan now." his voice shook, unable to hide his emotions anymore, "I'm alone."

Authors note: Okay, I wrote this in 2013/14 and found it on my old laptop recently!

I haven't updated this story since 2013, I am so sorry, I've tried to clean this chapter up a bit, but it's quite short.

I will finish this story, I promise, thank you for all so much for the reviews, follows and faves over the years, it means the world to me.
