A/N Hey guys, chapter 12 is up and ready to be read!

I own nothing, sadly

Paul's POV

"Listen Jake, I know it's not that easy for you but, they've only been married for what? Three days?" Sam said, his expression tired as he looked at the moping Jacob.

"Worst three days of my life," was all Jake said back.

I sighed but felt sorry for Jake nonetheless, "you'll be fine," I said, "how about we visit Drew?" I offered.

Emily's face lit up, "we should, we haven't seen her since she woke up," she said the mood in the room improving.

Then Jake brought it back down to depressed, "Carlisle said he would call us to tell us when we could come for another visit," he reminded us.

I felt myself deflate and I leant back against the couch, slightly more upset then before, "yeah," I commented quietly.

Jacob picked at the food on his plate, a thoughtful look in his eyes.

"You'll see her again," Seth reminded him, "you seem to be pretty good friends with Carlisle, I mean we all are!" he said.

We all nodded as we remembered the reason we were on good terms with the Doctor. Not too long ago we had had a fight with a clan of newborns. Good fun. Until Leah decided to take one on herself, causing Jake to jump in for her and get badly injured in the process. I rolled my eyes when I remembered Leah yelling at Jacob for interfering when she could so clearly 'take care of it'

"I mean what's the worst that could happen?" Quil said with a smile.

Jake's eyes shot up, "how about she turns into one of those leeches?" he hissed.

Sam suddenly looked angered, "we all knew it was going to happen Jake, maybe you should accept that," he told him, his alpha timbre echoing through the small room.

Jake stood up and glared at Sam before he stormed from the room, anger dancing in his eyes. I shook my head and looked back to the group, the imprints looked upset and so did most of the pack. Some though looked annoyed at Jake's moping and as much as it hurt me to admit I was one of them. We all knew she was going to change and choose their side over ours, over Jake.

I just wished Jake would move on before he did something he would regret.

Drew's POV

"Come on, you should," I repeated for the umpteenth time.

Dr. Cullen sighed and looked at me with a tired expression, "I told you; no," he said sternly before looking back at the chart in his hands.

"You know you want too," I teased, fidgeting in my bed.

He rubbed the bridge of his nose, "we'll see when we change the bandages," he caved.

I threw my arms up in victory, "yes!" I exclaimed, doing a little victory dance in my bed.

The Doctor muttered something under his breath with a small smile before he turned and left the room, shaking his head. I waved at him as he left before collapsing back on my bed, happy I had won our little argument. Of course it all depended on my wounds, if they were healthy and healing I could finally go home.

"Dr. Cullen ordered an immediate bandage change," a nurse said as she entered the room, a bored expression on her face.

I frowned at the word 'ordered' but I was quickly swarmed by two nurses who pulled the sleeves of my gown down and examined my collar bones and chest. I saw them write a few things down before their attention was back on me.

"Please take off the gown," the nurse asked in a monotone.

I blushed as I wiggled out of the gown awkwardly, trying to lay flat on the bed. I winced when they poked the bruising on my chest and stomach but it felt worse when I felt them undoing my bandages. I hadn't seen my wounds yet and I wasn't sure if I really wanted to see them.

I can remember freaking out because I thought I was naked under the bandages but Dr. Cullen ensured me I wasn't. Luckily I hadn't been that badly injured to require going all natural under the thick cotton.

I resisted the temptation to fidget as the cotton itched and tugged as it was unwound. The nurse chatted to me politely, asking about my life before the accident and about myself. I answered them politely, shifting when I saw them remove the last piece. I didn't know if I wanted to look down but curiosity won out and my eyes floated down to my waist.

Dear God.

Well, to be honest I'd rather look like a snowman then a… ugly burnt, scratched up, bruised banana. I almost chuckled at my own joke but scowled instead at my ugly lower body. I heard footsteps and watched Dr. Cullen walk into the room, a slight frown on his face.

"They're healing," he muttered to the nurses, lightly touching the wounds, examining them.

I sighed and looked down as his white gloved fingers poked and prodded the healing cuts, "What are you doing?" I asked quietly.

He spared me a look before he continued to place pressure on the sides of the wounds, "I'm checking to see if the stitches are holding," he commented lightly.

I nodded but let out a small cry when I felt a ripping and one of the stitches popped, letting blood ooze out of the small reopened gash, "Ow," I said after Dr. Cullen had pressed a clean compress to it.

He sent me a small smile, "I don't think you'll be heading home just yet, your wounds are still very serious," he said apologetically.

I shrugged but fought to keep my disappointment off my face, "its okay," I said back, sending him an understanding smile.

He studied my face before gesturing for the nurses to pass him some cleaning wipes, "Emily's been calling," he informed me.

I nodded and winced when the sting of alcohol hit my injuries, "what about Karla?"

"She came into work today, bright and early but she hasn't asked about you," he said, his eyebrows furrowing over his golden eyes.

"No surprises there," I muttered darkly.

He sent me a look, "are you up for visitors?" he asked me, looking at my hips with concentration.

I smiled and let out a small chuckle, "yeah, I'll just be very tired after they leave," I confessed imagining the rowdy boys filling up the small room.

He nodded with a bright, polite smile, "I understand," he said dismissively, gesturing for a bandage roll.

"So," I said with a teasing tone, making Dr. Cullen look at me with a worried expression, "can I go tomorrow?"

I shot up when I heard someone open the door. I had asked for it to be closed because the constant image of the nurse's running back and forth was giving me a headache. I winced and rubbed my eyes, getting rid of any evidence of sleep from them.

"Did I wake you?" a deep voice asked.

I shook my head, my eyes clearing up revealing a hurt looking Jacob, "you alright?" I asked, sitting up straighter in my bed.

He sighed and shook his hand in a so-so motion, "I've been better," he said with a small smile.

I nodded understandably, "same here," I said, absent mindedly picking at the fresh bandages wrapped around me securely.

He looked apologetic, "here you are asking me how I am when you're the one who was hit by a car five days ago," he said sheepishly.

I shrugged, "I'm already over it," I told him with a smile before I turned serious, "so what's bothering you?"

He winced, "a girl," he said after a few minutes of silence

I frowned, "by the name of…" I asked with interest.

"Bells," he said softly.

I nodded even though I had no clue who the girl was, "where is she?" I asked.

He looked down, pain evident in his eyes, "her honeymoon," he told me in a whisper.

My eyes widened and I looked down, "I'm sorry," I said gently, reaching out blindly for his hand.

I took the warm hand in both of mine, "it's not your fault," he said, giving me a stern look as if daring me to blame myself.

I gave him a pained smile, "I didn't think it was, and I don't think it's yours either," I said, equally stern.

He sighed, "she chose him over me, if the faults not mine then I don't know whose it is," he said, a frown marring his features.

I felt my eyebrow raise, "how about hers? If she was stupid enough to pick the other guy and not you," I offered.

"The other guy was Dr. Cullen's son; Edward," he said sourly.

I didn't know why he was telling me but rubbed his hand affectionately anyway, "and that means what?" I asked playfully.

"He's a bloodsucker," Jake spat out.

"Uh, what?" I asked, confused at Jacobs's strange insult, "never been called that before," I teased.

His eyes were wide and he stuttered while looking confused, "I-I don't know why I said that," he told me, his voice hollow.

I shrugged, "we all have our faults, yours appears to be you lack of good insults and nicknames," I said, giving him a strange look, my mind racing back to what my uncle had said; demons, shape shifters and vampires.

Vampires

Jake stood up quickly and wiped his hand on his pants, "I have to go," he said apologetically.

I nodded, "tell the others to visit, I'm getting lonely," I joked.

He nodded slowly before he turned on his heel and left the room. I watched him go with a frown as my mind raced back to the day I had spent with my uncle.

I shot up when I realized something. I had joked about the… creatures living in this very town and Rick never answered. In fact he looked guilty. I swallowed and leant back, giving the door a look with worried eyes. I was over-reacting. I had to be.

Damn you imagination.
