Recap:

"Y-You have to go without me" I say looking into his beautiful golden eyes. He looks back at me, saying nothing. The hand on my cheek travels further to gently push a strand of hair behind my ear. Then, ever so slowly, he starts to lean in. I stand frozen. Is this really happening!? Then our lips meet, and I finally realise. This is really happening, and it's everything I imagined and more.

Drained

He looks at me for a long time.

"I've wanted to do that for so long" He whispers, gently rubbing his hand along my cheek.

I stare at him, confused.

"No time to explain, right now we have to keep going. Can you do that?" He ask pulling me up onto my feet.

I nod briefly, but before we run this time, he reaches for my hand. The gesture means something this time, and it's not just that we're running for our lives. I squeeze his palm and smile at him, signalling that I am ready.

We turn so many corners, and we run for so long I begin to lose track of time. My lungs are burning, my heart is racing but what keeps me going his Jace's hard grip on my hand. We run and run until we reach a dead end. My adrenaline fueled heart sinks, as the thought of no escape slowly dawns on me.

"What do we do?" I ask, as I hear Jace swear under his breath. We are both heaving for air, as we stand with our hands on our knees.

"I think they went this way!" I hear an echoed voice call from down the hallway.

Automatically our eyes find each other, widened and filled with horror. Then his eyes shift to something behind me, and they begin to squint.

"Jace let's go! They'll find us!" I yell as hushed as I can.

"Wait a minute..." He trails off and begins to walk towards me, his eyes focusing on something. I turn around towards the wall, but I see nothing. Just a plain white and tiled wall.

"When I was in training, Maryse forced me to practice hidden runes." He murmurs while stepping in front of me. "If only I had a stele."

"We can try to take one from the guards coming at us." I say hurriedly.

Not one second passes before they come spilling into the rounded out dead end. They are all dressed in black like before, but this time they have come in numbers. Reflexively I take up my fighting stance, and out of the corner of my eye, I see Jace do the same. Without a signal, we lurch forward. I grab the nearest guard, wrapping my arms around him, and throwing him onto the dirt. We scramble around, while I feel punches and clawing on my sides and back. I cry out in pain but keep holding on, as my other hand searches for a stele. There. Discreetly I shove it down my boots, silently thanking Isabelle for her tip about wearing high boots.

Finally I let go and throw in a punch in his face. His hand dives for my face, but he doesn't get far. Jace leaps in from the side and kicks him perfectly in the ribs. I whirl around and start kicking and punching just the way Jace had taught me not a month ago. Face after face, punch after punch until it all suddenly ceases.

"Stop." I hear a calm yet demanding voice call in the midst of chaos. But I immediately recognise it as Valentines. At once all the masked men stop fighting, and instead grip my arms and hold them together in a vice like grip. I hear Jace grunt as he tries to break free, but I can feel that it's useless. We've lost. This round.

"Well I can tell you, trying to escape is pointless. This place is sealed tight and no one leaves without my consent. Besides Jonathan." Valentines says conversationally, nodding at Sebastian. So he calls him Jonathan.

"Now will you be as kind as to follow these men back to your housing room." He says with a fake smile plastered on his lips. Although he asked, he meant it as an order, and that if we denied, there would be consequences. The men behind us, began to push us forward.

As we rounded yet another corner, I can begin to see our cell doors. Jace is escorted into the cell beside me. I have realised how his eyes are constantly diverted over at me, and in return, I find my eyes doing the same. The black dressed guards push my shoulders down, so I am sitting on the hard steel platform which apparently is a bed. Beside the steelbed is a metal trolley with a needle, and a couple other tools. My stomach does a flip, and I begin to taste bile.

"What are you doing?" I ask quietly as my hands begin to shake uncontrollably.

Valentine smiles as he gestures for Sebastian to take the needle. Sebastian checks the needle by putting his finger on it, and gently pricking the top of his thumb. I realise that I haven't heard him make a sound since we were caught. He doesn't look to happy either with his eyebrows furrowed and his lips pursed. Did Valentine blame our escape on him?

I feel my eyebrows quirk as the needle disappears into my arm. I didn't expect him to just inject the needle. I almost scoff. This is Valentine, which means no sanitary wipes or soothing words. Probably no lollipop either. I gasp in pain as Sebastian starts to pull the needle out, the contents filled with blood. My blood. My mouth begins to dry and I feel light headed. Soon after I feel another stab in my other arm, and my head begins to spin even more. They were injecting another needle. Somewhere far away I hear banging on glass, and in the back of my hazy mind I register it as Jace hurling himself against the glass. But everything is far too blurry to tell now as I feel a third injection. That's when I lose consciousness, and everything goes black.

I know I say this a lot but I am sorry that I haven't updated enough! I am really trying to keep up with at least a monthly update but, I am falling behind and I promise I'll try!

Please read and review! :)
