Chapter 12 The way out through weight

Quanktumspirit: "Another chapter I wanted to scrap and re-write. Isn't it strange that one writes one tale first, then through re-thinking, life experiences and adventures the tale can change in so many ways from the first time? Well, this tale sure did. And this chapter will... I think... get the most amount of changes in the story. Written date: Saturday 29th September 2012, re-written date: Friday 8th March 2019. Oh and please guy's, this story does NOT take place during the 19th century or such. But in 2019, please? I want CCTV to exist in this story as well as trains."

All the cats looked at Puss in Boots confused. Puss first looked over to Connie for some information about this 'prison system' Jack and Jill have placed them all into.

"Connie, I noticed at the beginning Jack and Jill have weighed me, Kitty, and your two parents, before placing us in the cages. Am I right in the assumption that they have done it to all of you?" Puss asked.

Connie tilted her head, "Well... now that I think back to the time we were brought here, yes they did Mr Puss in Boots. They placed first me into the scales before locking me up in this basket, then dad and then mum. But no one understands why."

All the other cats confirmed her statement, Puss touched his chin and scanned round all the cages. What he also noted, was that not one of the cages ever touched the floor. All cages were suspended from the roof and on strings strung throughout the cave.

Weighing all 200 cats (the amount Puss could count), placing all 200 cats on a long string, then to leave was a strange concept of the hideout. Puss looked around the cave but didn't find any CCTV, hidden doors or windows in the cave. Only old railway tracks were built into the cave and an old long train stood at one side of the cave.

Puss was about to continue thinking, as a male's voice spoke up, somewhat to the left-hand side of him.

"Hang on a sec, Puss? Puss in Boots? The Puss in Boots whom I've fought against once?" Came an elderly male voice from the side.

Puss blinked and had to move quite a bit in the basket to locate the elderly voice. His eyes widened as he saw the orange-furred cat sitting in a basket as well, but he recognised the same boots, belt, hat and even silver sword, as well as a fuller ' moustache' and dark green eyes staring back at him in utter shock.

Antonio, Salma and Kitty looked towards the voice as well confused, "Hu? Who are you? And why do you look like Puss in Boots?"

"Dad?" Was all Puss said in shock and confusion, "How did Jack and Jill get you? And why?"

The orange cat nodded his head and first looked at the confused other 3 cat's, "I'm Anderson in Boots, Puss in Boot's father. I re-found him again a few years back as we were 'captured' and chosen by two humans to have a catfight against one another. After the fight I left again and headed back home, now to answer my son's question Puss: I was actually just out and about to find some old stone henge legend I've heard about, as I spotted two other cats being captured. As I tried freeing them from the cage a second cage sneered up and I was trapped too. And before long Jack and Jill turned up and took me and the other two captured down here into this cave and cages. And yes Puss, they weighed all 3 of us as well."

Puss blinked and saw two black cats waving their paws, showing it was them Anderson had tried to save. Puss just nodded his head, seems to be in the family blood to want to protect the 'cats' way of life from any harm. Himself and his father were basically cut out of the same wood.

Puss nodded his head, as that was out of the way Puss got back to what he was thinking before, if Jack and Jill weighed all the cats in this cave, then balanced everyone perfectly that if one were to remove they'd be notified somehow... then it means the weight of all the cats is the key to solving this cage disaster.

But how much do all the cat's weigh? Each individually? Did Jack and Jill write it down somewhere? Puss better ask.

"Everyone, did Jack and Jill write down somewhere the weight of each individual cat? And is the book somewhere?" Puss asked looking at everyone.

Two black cat's nodded their heads, they swing their cage a bit and from a cupboard, an old book fell out. Puss nodded his head as the cat on the ground opened it up.

"Mr Puss, in here they wrote all of our names, and the weights we all weigh." The brown furred cat explained, "Can this help us?"

Puss smiled, "Very good and yes. Ok, everyone, this is the plan. As far as the cat's on the lowest section can. Grab anything around you, and throw it into a sack, then weigh the sack. The cat who weighs the same or thereabout of the sacks weight can then replace their weight with the weight of the bag. Then I think the alarm won't go off and Jack and Jill won't be notified."

"But Puss, they have a CCTV camera here, how are we going to stop them seeing us?" Connie asked pointing above Puss's head.

Puss blinked and looked up, true a CCTV camera was installed and kept an eye on all the imprisoned cats. Puss was able to grab the cables, ripped them out and de-activated the camera.

Puss faced everyone, "Ok that means we will be on a time limit. It will take Jack and Jill about an hour until they return to re-install the camera. We have to get everyone out of here before that hour is up."

The cats all nodded their heads, quickly they continued with removing the weights of the cats in the basket and replacing it with the rubbish around the hideout. The cat's who were free raced to a set of mining cars where they could escape out from. Only it was missing a train.

Just then they heard an electric mining car driving up towards the hideout, Puss turned a bit white and had to think quickly. He turned to the cats in the mining cars.

"I got a second idea, everyone stay low in the mining car's, the two cats in the front car, de-tach Jack and Jill's electric cart and attach it to the mining carts. I'll distract Jack and Jill and you all get out of here as fast as you can. Just keep heading the same way the tracks will lead you, that will bring you back to the surface." Puss explained.

All the cats nodded their heads and did as Puss instructed. All the cats hid as a mining train turned up, being driven by Jack and Jill, exactly as Puss has expected.

Jack and Jill got out of the train and glared at Puss. Lucky all the other cats understood to hide in the mining carts and not say a word.

Whiles Puss kept the bandits distracted, the cats in the first cart quickly attached it to the electric train, then one cat typed in the code to get back to the surface, and the train vanished from Puss's sight. Puss smirked a bit, pleased that the other cats were safe now.

"We are going to kill you Puss, for freeing all the cats," Jill was sneering.

Puss glared back at his two most hated enemies, "You two should have done it as you first caged me in you idiots. You two know I've got the best sword fighting skills in all of Spain."

Jack grabbed Puss out of his cage and the two bandits grabbed their massive swords. Puss swiftly grabbed his smaller sword (that luckily Jack and Jill left behind in an old coat stand.) and challenged his most hated foe to a battle.

Jill began and lunged forward, Puss rolled his eyes and swiftly stopped Jill's attack, he kept her balanced quite well, until Jack decided to try and attack him from behind. A false move and Puss just sidestepped and Jack and Jill almost speared one another with the blades. The fight continued and Puss figured out to lure Jack and Jill close to him, and then have them hurt or injure one another.

The fight took several minutes until Jack and Jill were basically cut and bleed out so badly that they couldn't get up any more. Puss himself was feeling very tired and rested for a short while.

"You two..." Puss said shaking his head, "Was all this really worth it? To try and finish me off by breaking me and Kitty up?"

Jack snickered, "Worth of our own deaths?... yes Puss. Seeing you cry and whine that Kitty wanted nothing to do with you... was charming for the bandits to see..."

Jill nodded her head. Puss rolled his eyes and looked round the hide out, thinking how he was going to get out now himself. There were no mining carts, and Jack and Jill came down a lift.

Puss smirked, sharpened his sword again before walking up to the bandited duo, with his blade he finished Jack and Jill up completely, until they stopped breathing. The corpses Puss left behind in the mine and then he followed the raillway tracks back to the surface.

Puss reached the surface once more. He couldn't see the mining cars anywhere, so the cats must have escaped quite far away. Puss walked round the hide outs entrance and by a tree he found two brown horses tied up, completely saddled and provisison was also stored in their bags. Puss figured out these horses must be Jack and Jill, and seeing as there were no other way to get away from here, Puss untied one of the horses, jumped into the saddle and road away from the old mine.

'I hope everyone has arrived safe and sound.' Puss thought.

Meanwhile with the other cats.

All the captured cats were still sitting in the mining carts, it was a uncomfortable train ride, but it was the fastest way all 200 cats could get away from the mine. One cat was still focused on driving the electric mining car to the trainstation of San Ricardo, which would take a while.

At the back of the carts, Kitty Softpaws was never looking forward but behind herself, she was thinking about Puss in Boots, and hoping he has escaped as well, and will see her once again.

'But what if Puss hasn't escaped? What if Jack and Jill have become too much for him and killed him? Oh my dear Puss, all this is my fault. If only I hadn't fallen under the drug curse, then we wouldn't have ended up captured.' Kitty thought.

She was still shaking and thinking what life would be like if Puss was now no more. Her heart couldn't take it any more, she loves Puss so much, if he died because of Jack and Jill, Kitty will never forgive herself. She has nothing left worth living for.

Just then, she felt herself shake more, and it wasn't because she was scared. Kitty looked down and noticed the three kittens... what were their names? The Diablos: Perla, Sir Timotheo Montenegro the third and Gonzarlo, right? Anyhow, Kitty was shaking more, because the three brave kittens were crying as well, they held onto Kitty since in their cart the three didn't have anything big enough to comfort them or calm them down.

Perla grabbed Kitty's paw and made her look down at the kitten, "Miss Kitty Softpaws, where is daddy Puss in Boots? Why isn't he here in the carts with us all?"

"Well dears," Kitty began, but she couldn't come up with a lie, "Puss is very cross with Jack and Jill, for harming all of the cats and hurting you three. So he is still at the old mine and getting his revenge against the two. I'm sure once he has finished, Puss will find you three again."

Kitty could feel the three kittens calm down a bit more, but they were clearly upset, no wonder, their 'daddy' didn't leave the cave, Jack and Jill are skilled enough to capture all these 200 other cats, so who says that they wouldn't harm Puss?

Kitty looked up towards the heaven's, 'Please Goddess Bastec, please bring Puss in Boots back. Please, I promise that I'll marry and love him with all 9 of my lives, and I promise to protect and guard with him over the three orphaned Diablos. Just bring us Puss back.'

Kitty and the Diablos looked around the traveling train, but all the cats were still in the cart, but Puss was no where to be found.

After the train stopped, all the cats reached San Ricardo's train station. They all should be cherring and celebrating that they escaped the mine with all 9 of everyone's lives still in tact. But no one felt like celebrating, there was still no sign of Puss in Boots.

Kitty sat with the Diablos on an old bench, she bought for all 4 of them some mouse cake and some milk to drink, whiles all the other cats got something to eat as well. Kitty was looking out towards the far distance where the tracks lead, the train was still standing, and being cleaned by some of the cats.

Kitty calmly ate her dinner with the Diablos and kept her thoughts on Puss. where was he? How far from the mine did they all travel? Would Puss find her again?

It took Puss much longer following the train tracks on a horse then the train driving on it. Puss had to let the poor horse rest from time to time, which was stealing even more time from his beloved Kitty.

"I hope that everyone has arrived at the train station ok." Puss sighed as he caughed a mouse for his dinner.

After his horse has rested enough Puss was back on it and contined following the tracks, wishing now that Kitty or the Diablos were with him this minute, it would surely kill the time quicker.

By the time the sun had set, Puss finally reached the same trainstation where all the escaped cats were. He saw that all the cats have gone to bed in the mining carts, one ontop of the other.

Puss quietly tied the horse up, then looked around for Kitty and the Diablos. But he couldn't see them in the train itself. Instead he checked out the train station's house. Yup, in there he smiled, he saw Kitty Softpaws and the three Diablos all hugging each other and were asleep on the bench.

Puss whiped a falling tear, 'I'm so happy that everyone is safe, and Kitty seems to have locked my beloved Diablos into her heart as well.'

Puss smiled, in the house Puss also found an old rug, sure it smelt a bit of moths, but it was far compfier to sleep on then just the cold floor. Puss pulled a bit up on the carpet with his claws, made two rounds round the carpet before curling up, he looked one last time at Kitty and then fell asleep himself. He was very, very tired.

Quanktumspirit: "A much better ending to this chapter then before. Comments are welcomed, thank you and good day."
