The Turnabout of Good or Evil

Chapter 11:

Back to investigating

Once Juniper had woken up, she and Apollo agreed to head back to the crime scene.

Detective Gumshoe wasn't there, nor Simon Blackquill.

Instead, Officer Lucy Angel is there instead.

She is standing in the bushes, looking down at something.

When she heard the two approaching, she turned and went to them.

"Ah, hello there!" she exclaimed, smirking.

"You two are the defendant's lawyers, are you?"

Juniper nodded.

"Yes, we are."

Lucy smirked.

"That's good to know."

She jested a handshake towards Apollo.

"We haven't properly introduce our-self. I'm Lucy Angel, police officer."

"Apollo Justice, attorney at law." introduced Apollo, shaking Lucy's hand.

Lucy went to Juniper, and Juniper introduced herself.

"I'm Juniper Woods, at judge student at Themis Law School."

Lucy grinned, happily.

"That's great to know!" she went.

"It's good to know that there's people on the good side of the law."

Lucy did a dramatic pose, two fingers to her head, and stuck her tongue out in a comic fashion.

"Maybe we can find justice together!

It would be a pleasure to work with you two!"

"At least it's not 'In justice we trust!'..." thought Apollo, dishearteningly.

Lucy looked abashed, in a comic fashion.

"It was good work to point out my error in court!

I wish those prosecutors will leave us police officers alone!"

Juniper is taken aback.

"How come?"

"They dock our pay almost all the time due to the mistakes we make!

When the current chief prosecutor was a normal one, he dock my boss's pay almost all the time with mistakes he made!" went Lucy, anger, on a bit of rant.

"It's not fair!"

"Poor Detective Gumshoe..." murmured Juniper, shocked.

Lucy span around, in a Robin Newman fashion.

"I'm glad I got to testify!" she exclaimed. "I just got this job for a few months now, and this is my first major case!"

Lucy went depressed.

"I'm sad it has to be one of the Church members is a suspect...

Dog's a nice guy!"

This caught Apollo's attention.

He noticed the feathers attached to Lucy.

"Huh..." he went, to himself. "I wonder..."

He frowned.

"What did you think about what Simon had said about what Dog used to be, in Court today?" he asked.

"The officer involved was your mother, after all."

Lucy stopped joking around, and became serious.

"...She's the reason why I became an officer." she stated.

"Really?"

"...Yes. I loved her sense of justice and how she give punishment to ones that needed it.

She was my role model."

Lucy turned her head towards the shop, distantly.

"I was quite shocked about what was revealed.

I was quite angry as well.

But I couldn't be mad at Dog forever.

He knew of his mistakes, and something told me that he felt guilty about what he did."

She turned to Apollo, and Juniper.

"I can forgive him for leaving my mother like that, even if it hurts to say.

I'm a Christian. I've been told to forgive no matter what, and I've taken that to my heart. I will forgive sinners who are sorry, and I believe that."

"What about your sister and father?" asked Juniper, sad.

"...I'm not sure how Grace reacted. Father told me that she ran out with a sad sob when she heard what Dog was.

As for Father, he was conflicted about what happened.

He likes Dog, but what was revealed really shocked him.

I bet even Grant might be shocked about what was revealed."

"Yeah..." agreed Apollo, making a note to talk to Grant later.

Lucy shook her head.

She frowned.

"I...don't want to talk about this any more, it depress me. I hate depressing stuff..."

Apollo nods, to agree.

Juniper did nothing, but agreed in some sense as well.

"Wahahaha!" laughed Lucy, trying to cheer up the two.

"No point in being depress! There's no time for it!"

Apollo smiled.

"Thank you!"

Lucy grinned.

"Might need to say sorry to that yellow girl later on. I tend to laugh at people who look kinda funny!"

Apollo blinked.

"At least I'm not weird in her eyes..."

Juniper looked annoyed.

"That wasn't nice of you, you know?!"

"I know! But she looks funny! Raz would go ballistic on her!"

"Huh?" went Apollo.

"Raz hates things that aren't symmetrically, so much he has a hatred of things unsymmetrical!

That girl is so unsymmetrical that Raz might have a fit!"

Lucy span.

"It would be so funny for them to meet!"

Lucy roared into laughter.

Apollo narrowed his eyes.

"I like how she thinks this of her uncle..." he went to Juniper.

Juniper nodded.

Apollo went to ask:

"So, has anything else been discovered on the crime scene?"

Lucy nodded, then grinned.

"Indeed!"

She pointed towards the bush.

"Your idea of that 'butt print', heh, I said butt, was right! There was indeed a print of that sort there."

"That's good to know." stated Apollo, glad his idea was proven right.

Diagram of Crime Scene updated.

Lucy span around again.

"There wasn't anything found else on the crime scene!" she went, full of glee.

"That's a shame! Although it's my job as a officer to get evidence against the victim, I don't want Dog to get convicted!

Don't tell Prosecutor Blackquill that!"

Lucy went into a comical depress way, similar of Bobby Fulbright pushing his fingers together.

"He'll cut my head off because of that..."

"I won't tell." started Apollo, cocking his head.

"But I want to know something."

"Eh?"

"Those black feathers on your uniform...

Where did you get them?"

Lucy span round.

"I got them when I was starting out in the police academy!

My mother put them on my uniform.

She had some on her police uniform as well.

She always said she got them from the same bird.

I really like birds, but the one I like the most is Taka!"

Lucy went into some type of fantasy.

"I wish I could say hello to him sometime...

He's really pretty..."

"Well, if you ask Prosecutor Blackquill nice enough, he might let you!" smiled Juniper.

Lucy became shocked.

"You're right!"

Then she frowned, and turned to Apollo.

"Why...did you ask me about the feathers?"

Apollo narrowed his eyebrows.

"Remember than explanation I gave about the thing around Athena's neck earlier?

About how it is able to read animal thoughts?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Well, that gerbil was at the crime scene.

It saw the killer run away, and dropped a feather.

A black feather."

Lucy nodded.

"I see. So you suspect me?"

"It's a chance. You have black feathers on your uniform, and you like birds a lot."

"...I give a chance on this. You attorney's need to find who the real killer is.

I understand you want an alibi, as you can guess that I have a motive to do it.

Dog and Maxie abandoned my mother when she had a heart attack.

I could have some rage about it."

"That's correct."

Juniper coughed, in nervous.

Lucy sighed.

"If you want to know where I was on the night of the murder..." started Lucy, looking away.

"I was with Ema Skye, doing paperwork, with some other officers."

"Ema?" asked Juniper, not knowing who this is.

"Ema was the detective from my second case to my fourth case." explained Apollo, to Juniper.

"She would often throw Snackroo's at me..."

Juniper giggled.

Apollo turned to Lucy.

"You were doing paper work?"

Lucy nodded.

"I did not leave the room at the time of the murder, as we were busy doing paper work for something weird."

"Weird?" asked Juniper.

"Evidence for a case went missing." went Lucy, seriously.

"A case that involved illegal videos, that contain horrible images of children being killed or raped."

Apollo is taken aback.

"What?"

"The strange thing is..." started Lucy, confused.

"My card was used to open the evidence locker, but at the exact same time, I was on my day-off, with my father and sister."

"So someone stole your card to break into the evidence locker?"

"Yes. I have no clue who it is. The perpetrator even disguised themselves."

Lucy frowned, nervous.

"What Dog said today, what he saw as he went to see my sister, scared me."

"What was it?" questioned Juniper, curiously.

"That 'Angel of Death'..." continued Lucy.

"I was called in about my card, although I didn't use it.

When I saw the footage of the person who stole the evidence, I saw it as well."

"Pardon?"

"The person who stole the evidence, was an Angel of Death."

Apollo blinked.

"That's what Dog said in his testimony!"

Lucy pointed at Apollo.

"Correct. They couldn't find the person who did it and they took my card with me.

I have no clue what they will plan to do with the missing evidence."

Lucy's Police Card added to the Court Record.

Missing evidence added to the Court Record.

Juniper cast her eyes over to the shop.

"Can we go in there?" she asked.

Lucy span around and shook her head.

"Not yet." she stated.

"Prosecutor Blackquill and my boss are in there, investigating."

"Was there any need for the spinning?" thought Apollo, dishearteningly.

"Next thing we know, she starts acting like Robin..."

"You can go in there later!" exclaimed Lucy, grinning.

"But not now. Prosecutor Blackquill will have my head!"

Apollo sighed.

"I guess we can go in later..."

"Hmm..." went Lucy, thinking.

"I can let you in earlier than you think, but can you do me a favour?"

Juniper smiled.

"Sure. What is it?"

Lucy handed them a lunchbox.

"I go see my Uncle everyday on my lunch break, but Prosecutor Blackquill wants me to stay to guard the crime scene."

Lucy became depressed in a comical fashion.

"I'm afraid I want be able to see my Uncle..."

Apollo thought about, then nodded.

"Sure.

I see why not.

I want to talk to Raz, anyway."

Lucy span around again.

"Really?!" she asked.

"Yay!"

She handed the two the lunch box.

"My Uncle's workplace is about twenty minutes from here, which is called L.A Taxi's.

It's quite easy to find!"

Juniper smiled softly.

"We'll give it to your Uncle."

"Thank you!"

Lucy grinned in a comical way.

"I'll make sure you can get in! Just arrive back later, would ya?"

"Sure."

Apollo and Juniper arrive at the car park for L.A Taxi's.

It's a average car-park, which is in front of a warehouse-sort-of building.

There is a massive sign on top of the building, which shows a yellow taxi, with the companies name on it.

A single yellow taxi is by itself in the car park, and Apollo knew that is Raz' taxi.

They saw two people in front of the taxi.

The first is a man, which Apollo presumes is Raz.

Raz looks about 60, with fiery red hair, flat, although greying.

He has striking green eyes with a small, white scar going down the left eye, although he is not blind in that eye.

His forehead has many lines, to show he's frowning a lot.

Nothing is said about the rest of his face, an ageing man, with a sharp tongue.

He wears a red t-shirt with blue letters in it, which says '2 Corinthians 11:14'

It is short sleeved, and his arms are tough, but weary.

He wears causal jeans and brown, shiny shoes.

The other figure is wearing a pink overcoat, with the hood up.

This person is female, although older than Raz.

She looks to be around 63, and has brown hair, and like Raz, grey.

She too, has green eyes.

The coat covers the top half of her body, and is wearing tight jeans and trainers.

She has white, plastic, see-through gloves on.

Raz seems to be frowning at this person.

"You better have a plan not..." he trailed, then seeing the two.

He walked over to them, along with the mysterious female.

"Hey!" he barked. "You kids aren't suppose to be here!"

"We're not kids!" exclaimed Juniper, trying to speak up.

Raz seemed to ignore Juniper, and place his attention on Apollo.

"You feel lucky, punk?!" he asked, extremely angry. "That's what I'm asking!"

Apollo shook his head, and jested the lunch box to Raz.

"Your niece Lucy asked us to give this to you." replied Apollo, handing the box to Raz.

"Something came up at her work, and she couldn't come."

Raz looked at the lunch box, and opened the box.

He looked inside for a few seconds, then grinned.

He closed the lid, then looked the two.

"Sorry about that." he stated.

"Things have been rough for me for the past few days, and I've been irritable."

He jested a hand-shake.

"Where are my manners? I'm Raz Videl, a taxi driver. You?"

Apollo took the hand-shake.

"Apollo Justice, attorney at Law.

I was investigating a crime scene that your niece is working at."

Apollo turned towards Juniper, and jested to her.

"This is Juniper Woods, my assistant."

Juniper smiled.

Raz nodded.

"I see."

Apollo noticed the woman watching them.

"And who are you?"

"I'm Jane Doe." smiled Jane softly.

"I'm a friend of Raz's, and a counsellor. Raz has never been the same since his sister's death. "

Raz nodded again.

"She is."

He frowned.

Apollo is taken aback.

"What's the matter?"

"Those horns of yours..." he started, frowning.

"They're not symmetrically. I don't like it."

"Ah..." went Apollo, rubbing the back of his head.

"I'll fix them later..."

Raz said nothing.

"Um..." started Juniper, nervously.

"Where did you meet each other?"

Jane went to think.

"We met at the People's L.A Christian Church. It was a good meeting, and we became friends."

"Yes." agreed Raz, grinning.

"Indeed."

"Why do I get the feeling they're hiding something...?" thought Apollo, dishearteningly.

"There was another reason why I came here, Mr Videl?"

This seemed to startle Raz.

"Eh?"

"Two nights ago, a man named Maxie Money-Made was murdered, and a person that you know was arrested."

Rax frowned.

"Yes... I know.

Dog Conners, right?"

Apollo nodded.

Juniper went to ask:

"Where were you on the night of the murder?"

Raz went to think.

"I didn't see the murder..." he started.

He shrugged.

"I wasn't even there when it happened."

BUMPBA

Apollo grabbed his wrist.

"Say that last bit again..." he said, narrowing his eyes.

"I wasn't even there when it happened...?"

Apollo felt it again.

His bracelet is reacting.

"I see."

Juniper looked at Apollo, inquiringly.

Apollo looked at Jane.

"What about you, Ms Doe?"

Jane passed it off, like it was some kind of joke.

"Me? I wasn't there either! To think I would let me be involved in that sort of crime!"

Apollo didn't feel his bracelet go off, but still frowned.

"I see. What was your alibi for the time of the murder?"

Jane smiled.

"I was with dear Razzy here, out in the church, discussing things. Why do you ask?"

Apollo shrugged.

"Just asking.

So what do you do for a living?"

"Me?" went Raz, smiling proudly.

"I'm a Taxi driver. I run people to all sorts of place all around town, but I find time to pray to my God."

He pointed to Jane.

"Janny here doesn't work that much."

"Haha!" laughed Jane.

"I help people with their work.

I've been helping Raz with all sorts of stuff."

Raz shrugged.

"It's hard to be a Taxi driver sometimes. People can give you a lot of abuse from the stereotypical image of us drivers."

Raz pointed to Apollo.

"Let me guess, you defend.

I heard you were defending Dog."

He grinned.

"I also heard you did a good job in Court. That's good!"

Apollo nodded, smirking.

"At least he's got another day to be proven not guilty."

Apollo turned to Jane.

"How about you?"

Jane smiled.

"I heard about what happened, and I can sure you that I have the best wishes for Dog. He seems like a nice person."

"I see."

Apollo went back to talk to Raz.

Whilst Apollo and Raz are talking, Juniper noticed something.

She looked at Jane, who is staring at Apollo.

When Apollo said about Dog having another day to be proven not guilty, Juniper is surprised to see Jane's expression turn to a deep scowl, one that look like one of anger.

Apollo suddenly looked over to Jane, who very quickly smiled.

Juniper frowned at this.

Then, something caught her eye on the floor.

A single key on the floor.

She picked it up, and examined it.

A small engraving is on it.

'D.C Bedroom Key'

Juniper placed in into her pocket, then listen onto the conversation.

D.C Bedroom Key added to the Court Record.

"So, are you sure that were at the church?" asked Apollo, grabbing his wrist.

Raz nodded.

"I'm sure."

Apollo frowned.

"Ok, then."

Jane went to poke Raz on the sholder.

"I'll see you later, Raz." she smiled.

"There are some things I gotta do."

Raz grinned.

"Sure thing, Jane."

Jane promptly left.

Raz turned to the two.

"I believe there isn't anything else." he stated.

"Is there anything else you would like to know?"

"Technically, there is something else, but I'll ask later..." thought Apollo, narrowing his eyes.

He shook his head.

"Not at the moment. I'll might come back later..."

Raz nodded.

"I think that's fine."

Apollo and Juniper said their goodbyes, and left.

Apollo decided to head to the church next, to talk with Grant, Mark or Grace, if they are there, then head to Police department, to talk with Ema, about Lucy's alibi.

But, Apollo knew that Raz is lying.

His bracelet did go off.

That means that Raz might have seen something at the crime scene.

Only time will tell when he reveals what he is hiding...
