Because Valentine's Day.

Rating: T

Setting: College, like usual.

Music: Angel of Small Death, Cherry Wine, and Like Real People Do by Hozier.

Disclaimer: I don't own Percy Jackson and the Olympians or any of the characters. I only own this little plot. :)

"So, um, a big day tomorrow, right?"

"Huh?" Annabeth asked, looking up from her laptop.

"Well, you know, Valentine's Day and all that jazz," Percy said, scratching the back of his neck and shifting on the bed.

"Oh," Annabeth said and wrinkled her nose (something Percy thought was utterly adorable about her).

"You don't like Valentine's Day?" Percy asked, nervous. He was hoping that she didn't want him to plan anything extravagant, mainly because he had no clue what to do. Besides, he would much prefer cuddling on the couch and watching Netflix and eventually falling asleep together over some cheesy walk in the park and then fancy (and expensive) dinner that would clean out his wallet. How was he supposed to afford his Arizona Tea addiction if he had to pay for a fancy dinner?

"I think it's an overrated holiday. I mean, why would I need to buy you something crazy expensive just to prove that I love you? And if that's what it takes to prove that I love the one I'm romantically involved with, then why am I not buying you expensive gifts everyday?" She shut her laptop and crossed her legs. "I mean, isn't that what a relationship is? To show your significant other that you like being with them and love them everyday?" She shrugged. "I dunno… I just think that the holiday is kinda stupid. If I want to show you I love you, it won't be with a stupid Teddy bear that says 'Be Mine'."

"Um, yeah, I agree," he said, coming out as more of a question than a statement. "So, um, I guess just a regular Friday night tomorrow then?"

Annabeth rolled her eyes and smirked, pecking him gently on the lips. "I think you, me and Netflix have a date," she said, peering at him through her eyelashes.

Percy grinned. "Awesome."

Annabeth shrugged. "I know."

They did, indeed spend Valentine's Day on the couch, eating popcorn and watching a marathon of How I Met Your Mother, before falling asleep, Annabeth curled against Percy's chest and their legs intertwined underneath a comforter.

It was familiar. It was peaceful.

Percy had been trying to shove the key into his door for the past five minutes, but his hands didn't seem to want to cooperate. He blamed the shot of espresso he had that afternoon in order to stay awake during his classes.

He finally managed to wrestle the door open after another minute of cursing under his breath and dropping his keys a grand total of three times. He stepped into the apartment and was surprised to see that it was dark and light only by candles. He furrowed his brow in confusion and removed his boots and coat.

"Er, Annabeth?" he called out. "You home, love?"

"In here," came a voice from the living room.

Percy set his book bag on the kitchen table, the only light in the house still the candles scattered strategically around the space. He entered the living room to a surprise.

Annabeth was standing there in the middle of the living room with her hip cocked and a seductive smirk on her face. Her blond hair messy and curled, trailing down her back. Her toned, tanned body was clad in only lacy, black lingerie and her feet were sporting sexy black, heeled sandals. Her lips were plump and a bold red, and her grey eyes looked like they were ready to play.

Percy felt his pants tighten.

"Hey, honey," Annabeth purred (purred!), stalking up to him and trailing a finger across his chest.

"What's, um, what's with, um…" He gestured to all of her, unable to form a complete sentence. He guessed it was due to lack of oxygen in his brain.

Most likely because all the blood had rushed to another organ.

She threw head back and laughed. "I can't surprise you every once in a while?" she asked, her breath against his neck. He couldn't think straight.

"I though you didn't like Valentine's Day?" he gasped as her hand trailed down his spine and resting on the small of his back.

"It's not Valentine's Day, love," she said, her lips now brushing his collarbone.

"Oh, right, um…"

Annabeth rolled her eyes and placed her hand on her hips. "Are you seriously going to make conversation when I'm standing here in my underwear, just asking for it?"

"No," Percy defended stupidly.

Annabeth gave him an expectant look and he grinned.

And I can imagine you guys know what happened from then on. ;) I loved writing this. It was so much fun.

Anyway, I hope you all had/have a wonderful Valentine's Day. I actually had a Valentine this year! Well, not really… My gay friend decided we should be each other's Valentines 'cause we're forever alone.

Also, please check out the story that I'm editing at the moment. It's called Super Cliché: Annabeth Goes To Goode by Silverhuntx, so please check that out. I only started editing it at chapter six, so the work before isn't mine.

And, finally, the music I listed at the top is from Hozier's album Take Me To Church which is amazing and I love it and it's free on bandcamp, so go get it! It's so good, and even if you don't want to buy it, at least check out the music video for Take Me To Church as it is such an amazing work of art and it has a great message about gay rights about it. It's a little risqué, and perhaps some of you will take offense to it, but it needs to be said.
