Chp 12! YEAH! This one starts off in a new POV...hmmmmm...btw if you haven't realized already the way the vampires are in this story kind of resemble the vampire diaries but not completely just somewhat... :) Yay I found out where the line breaks are! Now I don't have to do (Line Break) all the time!

As soon a Brooke peeled her eyes open she was blinded with a seering bright light. She hissed, turning over, finding her mouth and throat as dry as sand paper and her body aching.

Keeping her eyes closed, she felt around for something to brace her hand on to lift herself up, and found something cold and metal.

Confused she finally opened her eyes, keeping them low. Her hand had found a beige metal bar, on the side of a bed that wasn't hers. She blinked, adjusting her eyes to the light, still not completely, and turned over.

She was in a hospital room, on a hospital bed. She frowned, disoriented, her eyes flicking back and forth. She glanced at the small tube connected to her wrist. She glared at it. It was annoying, she didn't want it in there.

Yanked at the tube, wincing, and it unattached itself from her wrist. Then in another rush of irritation, she realized she was still squinting from the light and her eyes were starting to hurt.

She glanced over at the window and after a second she'd already reached over and threw the curtain shut. The room dimmed. She could open her eyes completely now.

There was nothing wrong anymore, but Brooke still felt immensely irritated. She hated this room, she hated this bed. She didn't want to be here. Why was she here?

She sat up fully, about to get up, when she felt something contract around her neck. Instantly her hand was there. She felt something padded, fastened to her neck. It was restricting and irritating. She ripped it off and examined it. It was a bandage of some sort, stained with blood.

At that second a nurse with straight auburn locks walked in. An amazing aroma filled the room and Brooke closed her eyes, inhaling it. But her irritation only increased. She wanted to know what the smell was, she wanted to have it.

Her eyes flew open. "What is that smell?" she asked the nurse.

The nurse looked up at her and smiled, but looked confused. "Smell?" She had a strong southern accent.

"Yes. That smell, what is it?" Her irritation grew with each word.

The nurse chuckled. "I think you're referring to the smell of hospital, honey. It's antiseptic and somethin' else dear."

Brooke was about to scream at her when her eyes fell on a glass of water on a table out of her reach and she remembered her dry throat.

"Give me that," she told the nurse.

The startled nurse looked up and her eyes went to the water. She smiled, picking it up. "Oh, of course." She handed Brooke the water, who snatched it from her and started downing it. "How're ya feelin'?"

The water wasn't working. She could feel the cold going down her throat, but it was as if it was just slipping over the dryness. The water was done and Brooke's throat felt no different.

She sneered at the empty glass in her hand, then threw it at the wall where at shattered. "It's not working!"

The nurse stared at her worriedly. "Dear are you alright?"

And as soon as she said that the door flew open. Kira strode in, smiling.

The nurse turned on her. "I'm sorry, who are you?"

Kira scowled at her. "Goodbye," she said, before picking up the nurse by the neck and throwing her to the wall. She slumped to the ground, and there was a dent in the wall where her head had hit.

Kira sighed. "Ugh, she only said one sentence in her annoying accent and I could already tell I hated her."

As soon as Brooke's eyes landed on Kira, memories of what had happened flashed back to her. She'd come out of her house, expecting Cassidy but had found Kira instead. She couldn't remember what had been said but she remembered being scared, and then she blacked out. Now she was mad.

"What did you do to me?"

Kira clicked her teeth. "Mmh, not important yet." She stalked over to the nurse's limp body, lifting her up in the same fashion she'd thrown her. "Yup. Dead. God humans have such fragile skulls." She turned to Brooke and smiled. "Good news for you though."

The aroma in the room became stronger and Brooke wanted to scream. She wanted it. She needed it. In her annoyance, a low growl erupted from her throat, and though she'd never done that before in her life, it felt oddly natural.

Kira's smile widened. "You smell that?" She laid the corpse down on Brooke's bed and jerked her head toward it. "She must be bleeding internally. Smell for yourself."

Brooke didn't think twice. She shoved herself out of the sheets and crawled closer to the end of the bed. Leaning down slowly, she sniffed the body. Sure enough the delicious scent filled her nose. Instinctively, she bared her teeth.

"I want it."

Kira tilted her head. "Go ahead. Sink your teeth into her neck. I promise the skin will come right away."

Slowly, Brooke edged her mouth the dead nurse's neck. As soon as she was close enough she opened her mouth, biting into the skin. Sure enough, the skin broke under her teeth, and as soon as it, the blood filled her mouth. Brooke was hit with the delicious taste the aroma had promised her, if not better.

She sat up, bringing the body with her, clutching the neck closer to her mouth. The blood gushed in, filling her mouth and running down her throat, quenching her thirst like the water couldn't. And as it filled her body she felt the aches melt away, as well as the irritation, everything turning to satisfaction and pleasure.

Then suddenly, all of it was yanked away from when a sudden pain exploded from her gums. She dropped the corpse onto the bed, crying out.

"What the hell!" She screamed, feeling her mouth. Her fingers brushed against something sharp and she pulled away in shock.

Kira, would suddenly had a mirror came up beside her. "Look."

Brooke grabbed the mirror from her and brought it to her face. Her eyes widened in shock. Protruding from her mouth, which was dripping blood, were two white pointed tips. She opened her mouth, to examine. A pair of fangs hung down from her upper set of teeth, which were currently stained red with blood. And her eyes were a menacing red, black veins running down from them just to her cheekbones.

She threw the mirror at the wall, just like she had done the cup, and it too shattered. With the irritation gone, her normal self had come back and tears started to stream from her eyes. She covered her mouth, muffling her sobs.

"What have you done to me?" She whispered through her sobs.

Kira scoffed. "Well if it wasn't obvious, I turned you. Congrats! You're a vampire."

Brooke managed to halt her sobs. "What?"

"Yes. You're a vampire. You should be happy that the bigger part of your transition happened while you were unconscious. If you're awake it's a real pain in the ass."

Brooke looked incredulous. "Happy? Look at me! I'm a monster! My life is over! And this woman, y-you killed her! She's dead!" When this sunk in, Brooke moved as far away from the body as possible.

"Oh please," Kira started. "You would've killed her anyway. Listen there's no point in sulking about it. You're a vampire, get over it. The point is you are going to be doing something for me."

"I'm not doing anything for you!"

"Then I'll kill you. You saw how easy it was for me to kill her, I could end your life in a second, don't think I won't."

Brooke's eyes narrowed. "My life has ended. Go ahead, kill me, I don't want this life."

Kira raised an eyebrow. "Alright. Then I'll kill you, and everyone you love, who are still alive. Is that enough to convince you?"

Brooke thought about her parents and her friends and her heart ached at the thought of them dying because of her. She looked away. "Okay. Fine. I'll do what you want."

Kira smiled. "Of course you will. Now get dressed were getting out of this hospital."

Brooke got off the bed. "What about her?" she said, pointing to the nurse.

Kira shrugged. "She's dead, it's a hospital. They'll figure something out."

"Well, wait!" Kira turned, looking annoyed. "What do you even want me to do?"

Kira smiled. "It involves your old friend. Ally."

Brooke raised an eyebrow. "Is this about Austin?" Brooke's eyes widened. "He's a vampire too isn't he?"

Kira rolled her eyes. "While we're on the topic of Austin, do you know anything about them. maybe how this rumor started?"

Brooke nodded. "Yeah. I saw them at the beach on Saturday and I told Cassidy who-"

"On Saturday?"

"Yeah I-"

"I don't care. Hurry up, we have to go." With that Kira strode through the door.

Ally lay on her couch, feeling weird. Austin hadn't been in school today, just like he'd said, and neither had Trish, Dez or Kira.

People had been staring at her again, but this time for a different reason. The letters on her locker had been smudged and weren't really visible anymore. She saw Cassidy at lunch, sitting with a different group of people. Brooke hadn't been there. The whole atmosphere of school had felt different today, not accusing like it had felt yesterday, just different.

But that wasn't the reason for her weird feeling. Ever since Austin had told her he liked her she'd felt weird. Not the kind of weird happiness that you're supposed to get, though she did have that also, but her body felt different. It was almost as if her body functions had switched.

Normal things like walking caused her to feel nauseous, if she found something funny she would get a headache. Every time she blinked today in English her index finger would tap against her desk. She suspected her body was reacting...weirdly to everything she was feeling, so when she got home today she'd just decided to just lie down so nothing could happen and wait till it passed.

She'd actually found it peaceful and had been like that for a good hour. Groaning, she sat up slowly and got up, walking to the door, fighting the nausea.

She open the door and her eyes widened in absolute surprise. "Brooke?"

"Hey Ally!" she said.

Ally frowned, quickly examining her. She was wearing giant designer sunglasses, jeans and a black T-shirt. Ally had never seen Brooke look so casual in her life.

They stood there awkwardly until Brooke spoke up. "Can I come in?"

Ally blinked and silently cursed when she felt her finger tap against the door. "No, not really."

Brooke sighed. "Ally please."

"What for?"

"I wanted to apologize to you."

"And you can't do that out here?"

Brooke stared at Ally, waiting. Finally Ally sighed in defeat, opening the door wider for Brooke to come in. She came in and Ally shut the door.

"Okay. Go."

Brooke took a deep breath. "I'm really sorry, okay. I feel horrible about what I said and did, but it was only because Cassidy filled my head with all this crap about you and I didn't want to believe it but you've barely been spending time with me lately and when I saw you at the beach and saw that you were blowing me off for Austin I only acted out in anger and I'm so, so sorry. Please forgive me."

Ally's face had softened throughout the apology and now she just felt bad. "Okay, fine. You're forgiven. And I'm sorry too. I guess I just didn't realize." And she hadn't. Even when she hadn't liked him like that the rest of the world had always seemed to disappear when she was with him.

She opened her arms. "Hug?"

Brooke just stood, frozen. "Umm actually I can't. You notice I wasn't in school today? Well I was in the hospital."

Ally's arms dropped. "What? What happened?"

"Oh, um, I was...I was walking to the...store and I fell on some glass. I cut my side, lost a lot of blood. Still sore."

Ally frowned incredulously. "Oh my god. Are you okay?"

"Yeah, yeah, no I'm fine. Just sore."

"Oh. Well no wonder you look so pale." She wasn't joking. Brooke skin was normally tan from her many days spent at the beach, but today...

Brooke turned away, before Ally could get a closer look. She huffed a laugh. "Heh, yeah." She walked over to the couch and sat down.

Ally frowned. There was something wrong with Brooke today. She seemed different. Being pale was something but even her walk was different. But maybe it was just something that happened with her side. Even so it was still weird.

Ally strode over to the couch, about to sit down, when Brooke spoke. "So where's Austin?"

That startled a laugh out of Ally, and suddenly her legs gave out. She caught herself with her hands before her face could hit the floor. Okay, this one was new. Austin had obviously done something to her. She'd ask him later. But right now she had to worry about not being able to feel her legs.

Brooke leaned over from where she was sitting. "Ally are you okay?"

"Yup, yeah. I'm fine. I just tripped." Two seconds later she could feel her legs again. She counted six seconds. From where she was, she hoisted herself up onto the couch. Looking at Brooke, she smiled. "What were you saying? Oh, yeah, Austin. Um, why?"

Brooke shrugged. "Well I just assumed you'd be hanging out with him, since you always do, right?"

Ally raised an eyebrow. "Not always." Then she remembered Kira. "I mean, not anymore. He...ditched me."

Brooke tilted her head. "Really? You guys seemed like you were having a really good time at the beach on Saturday."

Ally blinked, and then just shrugged, rushing to change the subject. "Hey, you know you can take off your sunglasses. We're inside," she said, playfully reaching for them.

And then she was gone, and Ally's hand was reaching for air. Disoriented, Ally frowned, shaking her head and looking to the side, finding Brooke pressed against the wall, by the TV.

"Brooke?" Ally said, getting off the couch.

Slowly, Brooke leaned off the wall. "I-um, I have to go," she said, starting for the door.

Ally followed. "But you just got here. Brooke are you okay?"

Suddenly, Brooke stopped, and Ally almost crashed into her. She turned on Ally and she swore she something flash behind her sunglasses.

"Yes," Brooke said, "I'm fine." Then she turned and walked out the door, shutting it behind her.

"Okay," Ally called to nothing, pulling a fake smile.

Her legs gave out again. This time her head hit the linoleum tiles.

"Holy shit!" She hissed, putting a hand to her head.

Less than a second later, she was staring at someone's feet. She looked up to see Trish, raising an eyebrow at her.

"What the hell happened to you?"

"Hold on a second," Ally said, putting up a hand. A few seconds later she could feel her legs. She stood up. "Hey."

Trish frowned. "What's wrong with you?"

Ally threw her hands up. "I don't know! Did any of you do something to me that I don't know about?"

Trish shook her head. "No. Well, I don't about Austin but what's been happening?"

"There's something wrong with my bodily functions."

Trish raised her eyebrows.

Ally sighed, exasperated. "I can't believe you're making me do this again," she muttered. She rolled her eyes, then pulled another fake smile, and her legs gave out yet again. This time though, she caught herself.

Trish snickered. "What was that?"

The brunette looked up, glaring. "Every time I smile, I can't feel my legs for six seconds.

"I see," Trish said, pressing her lips together.

"This isn't funny!" Ally cried, getting up. "What did you do?"

"We didn't do anything, I swear!"

All hoisted herself up on the counter, looking desperate. "Well then what's wrong with me? It's not just that. When I walk certain way I feel nauseous, sometimes when I blink my finger moves and whole bunch of other things that are starting to scare me!"

"Okay well don't blame me, I-" Suddenly, Trish cut herself off. She'd gone stiff, like cat that'd heard a sound. Her eyes darted around everywhere then flicked back to Ally, who had an eyebrow raised. She shook her head. "Sorry I thought I smelt something."

"Smelt what?"

"Another vampire."

Ally blanched.

"Don't worry, it was a false alarm."

Ally relaxed a little bit. "What are you doing here anyway?"

The vampire shrugged. "Austin sent me to check on you."

Ally pressed her lips together. "Oh."

Trish smirked. "You're blushing."

Ally blinked. "No I'm not."

"Yes you are."

"I'm not."

"I can hear the blood in your cheeks."

At that Ally went silent, embarrassed. Trish wasn't supposed to know about her liking Austin, or vice-versa, was she? As far as she knew everyone still thought that Austin liked Kira. It's what she'd thought until last night.

"And even if I couldn't," Trish continued, "you still wouldn't be able to lie to me."

All signs of Ally's embarrassment faded away and she rushed to change the subject. "Is that one of your gifts?"

Trish frowned. "Who told you about gifts?"

"Austin," Ally replied simply. "He told me what a Soul Seeker is."

"Oh. Well it's about time he enlightened you about-hey!"

Ally jumped at the sudden cut off.

"You're trying to change the subject."

Ally blinked, her finger tapping against the counter, playing dumb. "What subject?"

"The subject where we going to talk about how you like Austin."

Ally pushed herself back further on to the counter, bringing her feet up, tucking her knees to her chest. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Yeah, you're lying." Trish sat up on the counter, smiling. "Relax! Don't get all defensive," she said, laughing. "Besides I already know Austin likes you so there's no point in hiding it."

Ally's jaw dropped. "What?"

Trish nodded. "Yeah me and Dez both know."

"For how long?"

She tilted her head, thinking back. "Well I knew since the night you got drunk, and I think Dez knew the day Austin told you we were vampires."

Ally sighed. "For that long?"

Trish shrugged. "It's not that long. We've only known you for like what? A week? Wait when did he tell you?"

"Last night."

"Only?" Trish raised her eyebrows. "The way you guys act made it seem like you already knew."

Ally sat up on the counter, crossing her legs. "Okay, Trish, I know you're not supposed to tell me anything, but you have to understand that I am so confused and I want you to at least listen to my question before you decide whether or not you're going to answer."

Trish stayed silent, waiting.

Ally took a deep breath. "How can he like me? I mean, besides the fact that I am just a human that he shouldn't care about, there's Kira, and if he liked her before he met me how could he just like someone else so fast? I mean, he told me he never really liked her, but I still don't understand..."

Trish tilted her head, then turned to face Ally directly, crossing her legs the way she had. "I can't answer your question, but only because I don't think that I'm the one who should be telling you these things."

Ally sighed, frustrated. "But he doesn't tell me anything."

"Because he's careful with you. He's obsessed with your safety, Ally, and everything he does he does because he doesn't want you to get hurt, physically or emotionally."

"Yeah." Ally couldn't help but smile, her legs going limp under her. "Yeah I know."

"But it isn't fair to have you confused like this, not when you're apart of so much. So," she slid off the counter, "I'm gunna get him to tell you. I promise."

Ally frowned, genuinely touched. "Thank you, Trish."

Trish raised an eyebrow. "What?"

She shrugged. "I'm just...grateful...that you're being so nice to me, Dez too. I mean, I've put the pieces together, so I...I know I'm supposed to be dead-that you four, and Lyla were supposed to kill me. For what, I don't know, but I do know that it would have been easier for you all to just kill me instead going through all this."

Trish's face seemed to soften. "That's true. But, Ally, you are the only human in the world that I actually like and that means something. So, yes, you are a lot of trouble, but know that you are 100 percent worth it."

Ally smiled again, forgetting her legs completely. "Thanks."

Trish did one small curt nod, looking embarrassed, then shrugged. "Besides, Austin would never let us kill you anyway." She gestured to Ally's figure. "I'll also be sure to mention your...dysfunctions. I have no idea what that's all about but I'm sure it's nothing serious." With that she was gone.

Ally huffed a sigh, looking down at her legs.

"Why you gotta be so rude...don't you know I'm human...too? Well that doesn't work."*

"What the hell was that?" Kira screamed at Brooke, once she'd dragged her off somewhere else in Florida, she didn't care where. They were in a secluded clearing, deep in the heart of a forest.

Brooke threw her hands up in exasperation. "Well what was I supposed to do? Trish was coming and you know it! If I had stayed she would've found out!"

"I'm not talking about your lousy escape!" Kira hissed. "In the time that you did have you managed to pull off the worse interrogation ever!"

Brooke eyes widened incredulously. "I've never interrogated anybody before today, how was I supposed to know how to do it right?"

Kira scowled in irritation. "Not mentioning the fact that you wasted all that time with your excuse!"

Brooke shot off the rock she was sitting on with her new found grace and agility. "You're being ridiculous! I did everything I was supposed to! I went in asked her about Austin an covered my tracks when I left! It's not my fault we were short on time. At least now you know that Austin really did ditch her! It was just later than you thought it was."

Kira's eyes narrowed. "You're an idiot. Did you really believe that oh so obvious lie! If Austin did ditch her what the hell was Trish doing at her house?"

Brooke looked away, feeling somewhat stupid. "Maybe we should've stuck around to hear what they were talking about," she muttered.

"If we did that," Kira said, taking a deep breath, "Trish would've smelt or heard us."

Brooke shook her head, grasping her hair. "I can't do this Kira. I can't! I can't be around anybody! She...she smelt so good. I was afraid to hug her because I thought I couldn't handle it. What if next time I can't?"

"Well you will. If anyone's killing that bitch it's me."

Brooke continued to shake her head. "Kira..."

Kira's eyes went to slits and she took a step toward her. "Whether you want to or not, whether you can or you can't, you will do as I say. You remember what I promised if you don't. So suck it up and get over your problems. Because I don't have time for yours when I already have mine to worry about."

The brunette exhaled, dropping her hands. "Then what do you want me to do?"

"Go back tomorrow! And the next day, and the next until you find out what I want to know! Until you get the whole story! If you get caught or if anybody finds out, deal's off and I kill your family."

"What?" Brooke started forward, the words angrily falling from her lips. "That wasn't the deal!"

Kira laughed. "The deal is whatever I say it is." Her face then dropped and she leaned forward so that her face was almost touching Brooke's. "Don't fucking test me."

Brooke exhaled, backing away. "Fine. By the way I think I heard a heartbeat today, Ally's. Just wondering if that was important."

Kira tilted her head, then less than a second later she was in front of Brooke again, grabbing her wrist.

Agony ripped through and she let out a bloodcurdling scream. The pain was like a scorching heat, like magma being pored inside her, melting her from the inside. She'd closed her eyes but she swore her skin was melting off.

Then Kira let go. The pain stopped instantly. Brooke collapsed to the ground, shivering. Ice cold tears had started streaming from her face and she desperately rubbed at them. She was afraid to be colder than she already was.

Behind her Kira had smiled in delight. "You're a Truth Seeker. Oh we are going to have so much fun." She glanced at Brooke. "Oh relax, it's not even that bad. Your life story is very boring by the way."

Brooke had herself pressed into the grass. She just wanted to be warm again, and right now everything felt warmer than her. As another spasm of shiver came across her she wondered what she had ever done to deserve this.

The answer came faster than the question.

Ally felt a tugging at her head. Her eyes flew open.

Austin was sitting in front of her, playing with her hair. He smiled. "Hey."

She smiled back. "Hey." Then she frowned, confused.

She sat up and was greeted with an aching in her neck. She was still on her kitchen counter.

"Oh, I guess I fell asleep. When did you get here?"

"About ten minutes ago."

"What? Why didn't you wake me?"

His smile widened. "I like watching you sleep. I love to see how your face looks when you're not worrying or over thinking. You look so peaceful."

Ally blushed, looking down. Then saw her legs. "Hey I can feel my legs."

He raised an eyebrow, looking at her legs and Ally frowned. "You didn't speak to Trish."

"No I did, but until now I thought she was joking just to psych me out." His eyes flicked back to meet hers. "She also told me some other things."

The last part of her conversation with Trish flashed back to Ally. She blushed again. "Oh."

Austin got up. "Come on, let's sit on the couch. I'm sure your back or neck is hurting you."

She slid off the counter, moving towards the living room. She sat on the couch, Austin sitting on the opposite end.

She looked to the floor, playing with her fingers. "So...?"

Austin sighed. "I told you why I wouldn't tell you everything, because I wanted to keep you safe, and that's true...but it was partly an excuse."

Ally's eyes darted back up to him. "An excuse? For what?"

"An excuse for me not to tell you the things I'm afraid to tell you."

She shook her head. "I don't get it."

"Ally, never in my life have I felt for someone the way I do for you and I question everything I do when it comes to you. I'm afraid that I'll do or say something that'll upset you or make you hate me and Ally if you hated me, even for the shortest time it would be the worst kind of pain."

She shook her head. "Austin after all the things I've gone through with you I can honestly say that I don't think it's possible for me to hate you."

"That's not true Ally. All it takes is one word for someone to hate you, and I don't know what effect the things you want to know will have on you." He paused for a moment, staring at her, reading her expression. "But I know that it's not my choice to decide whether you hate me or not. And I can tell," he stopped, taking her hand in both of his, "that your thoughts are eating you alive over this."

She could tell he was going to let her hand and she tightened her grip a little, signaling to keep holding it.

He smiled faintly. "I owe this to you. So this, Ally, this I will tell you."

She said nothing, waiting.

He took a deep breath, letting go of her hand, against her wishes.

"I like you, because I have truly fallen for you Ally."

The butterflies flared up.

"My relationship with Kira, revolves around an arranged marriage."

And then they died.

Ally frowned. "What?"

It seemed that he couldn't look at her anymore. "I'm...engaged...to her."

Ally sat, unblinking. "Oh."

Confused, he finally met her eyes.

She looked away. "Um...that's not what I meant to say." She got off the couch, walking back to the kitchen.

He got up, but stayed where he was.

"I'm not upset, if that's what you're thinking," she told him.

"No." Suddenly he was in front of her. "But you're doubting my feelings for you."

She hesitated. "To be honest your feelings for me never really made sense in the first place."

"No, no, no, no. Ally stop it."

"But-"

"I said arranged marriage. As in not my idea. Ally I don't like Kira. In fact I hate her because she wants to kill you."

She stayed silent, looking at her feet.

"Damn it! Ally I am in love with you."

Her entire head jerked up and her eyes widened.

"What?"

I know. Such a crappy way to end it. Crappiest chapter ever if you ask me but I was running out of ideas to continue this chp and it was getting too long.
