Hello guys!

So guess what...I got my first university offer and i'm absolutely through the roof!

So here's an early chapter...kinda sorta a filler but I felt like it needed to be there to accommodate the next chapter (currently being edited btw, give me 2-3 days?)

I hope you enjoy this one :)

"You two got guts I'll give you that. If the old man ever heard that you were sniffing around this case your badges will be gone for months."

Grimmjow's eyebrows twitched. He knew the possible consequences of getting caught already, he didn't come here to be reminded of them. Especially from Captain Reckless himself.

"We already know captain, but we know you want us on this case. We're the best on this force, and as much as you know that your team's good and that Abarai's a great lieutenant, most of the grunt work is still on your shoulders." reasoned Ichigo. He knew how much the man hated doing the menial work, he was more of an action man than a thinking man, which was why he was in control of the S.W.A.T team for the town.

"Plus, what the Old man don't know won't kill him. Shouldn't he be planning his funeral or somethin'" grunted Grimmjow. He was losing his patience. He had no time for this.

Ichigo elbowed him. Kenpachi snorted.

"Ya gonna help us or what cuz I could be on the road right now tryna find a lead instead of sitting here wasting time-"

"Let them on the case Zaraki, we could use their competence, especially that of Kurosaki's," came Byakuya's voice from behind them.

Ichigo jumped slightly and Grimmjow gave an unmanly yelp.

"Ya can't jus come sneaking in on people like that y'know Captain!" he growled, though he was thankful that the stoic man wasn't against them illegally joining in on the case.

Byakuya ignored them, placing a folder in front of Kenpachi and stood at his side, regarding the two lieutenants.

"Before we start setting down the ground information to you, I want you two to know that if there is as much of a slip of emotion especially while on the field during this case, we will not hesitate to have you removed. You're both emotionally attached to the victim and we all know that the both of you can be brash and irrational and those qualities are not needed, especially on this case. We are dealing with smart criminals and one mis-step from either of you means that they can walk free of this."

Both younger men nodded, Kenpachi took that as his queue to open the folder Byakuya placed in front of him.

"Alright Berries, pay attention, I'm only gonna say this shit once," he said flipping through the pages, "Since Nel-chan's been back we've had the pink haired bitch and his squad running a whole set of consecutive DNA tests, rape kits, mouth swabs, finger prints, checking all cavities just to see what we could find, especially since finding out that some of the blood on her wasn't her hospital ran the tests and we didn't get much from the sperm samples we found cuz those don't really last long if fertilization doesn't happen. What we did find though were matches for the saliva samples, which also happened to match with the only available fingerprint samples that were found on her body and clothing."

Grimmjow leaned forwards to the table. A lead. Something to go on. Someone he could rip to shreds for hurting his Neliel.

"Who'd it match with?" he growled in anticipation.

Kenpachi said nothing, just turning the folder in their direction to show the case files of the individual it matched up to.

Ichigo leaned over looking and Grimmjow felt like he had the wind knocked out of him when he saw the picture and read the name.

"T-tesla Lindocruz? Who the hell is that? I've never seen him before," said Ichigo, scratching the back of his head.

Grimmjow said nothing, staring at the picture in disbelief.

"Ah, you might not know him Kurosaki, but I'm positive Jaggerjaques-san is having a blast from the past," replied Byakuya, staring intently at the blue haired man, "isn't that right...Sexta?"

Grimmjow said nothing in reply. He didn't know what to say. He looked up from the folder and to Kenpachi's straight face, then to Kuchiki's. He didn't even register Ichigo's voice asking him to clarify to him.

All he could think of was Gin's words to him previously. It really did seem as though his past was coming back to get him. With a vengeance.

"Sexta? That sounds somewhat familiar," said Ichigo slowly, as if testing over the word and trying to connect where he had heard it from.

"Of course it does, I also bet you've heard of Primera, Segundo, Tereca, Cuarto, Quinto-"

"Wait a minute Grimmjow you were an-an Espada?!"

Unohana Retsu didn't really like the lab at the Karakura station, despite its high tech equipment and excellent scientists who always did their work so meticulously. No, she really didn't have a problem with them, who she did have a problem with was Szayel Apporo-Granz, squad Captain for Forensics. Time and time again he would treat her as if she were not the head of her own hospital and past vice captain of said division he worked in and it irked her. She hated being belittled, especially from the likes of him. She knocked the door with his name marked and entered without waiting for him to tell her to enter. Inside stood Gin Ichimaru and said un-favoured officer.

"Gentlemen," she greeted both, walking up to the table they were currently standing over. There were a stack of files which she assumed was the results from all the DNA and blood tests Granz had to do as well as three marked vials.

"Ahh, Retsu-san, it's been a while," said Gin, spreading his grin towards her. She smiled back at him in greeting and turned to Granz, "I heard that your team managed to get a match on one of the kidnappers"

"Yes, yes, that's happened for quite some time now Unohana-san, you need to keep up with the times, what I'm more focused on now is all the substances that have been running amuck in our young victim's blood"

She almost snapped at him but kept her smile in check and looked over the contents on the table. So much for congratulating him for his good work. "And what substances are you speaking of?"

Gin pushed himself off the edge of the table and pointed towards one of the samples, "the first one is heroin. Whoever it was and the first suspect, they weren't playing around with her. The count in her blood sample was so high I'm kind of surprised that she didn't overdose with the amount she had in her," he pointed to the second vial, "That right there is some good old morphine, I'm assuming something happened to her while she was there for them to be giving that to her, it's not good to mix those two drugs, not good at all," he said speculatively, then pointed to the third vial,

"now this one here is where we're stumped. It's been given to her almost as constantly as the heroin has and from the last two samples that you gave us, there's still more than a trace amount in her blood."

"What is it?" she asked, looking over the information. She was shocked at the amount of drugs that Nel had in her body, though the morphine and the cocaine would have probably been fully gone from her body by now. She'd been in the hospital for near three weeks, what drug could have possibly stayed in her body so long and still be there? All that the sheets would tell her is that there was a trace compound, not much to go on and a strange incomplete looking formula.

"Well, if we knew what drug it was we'd obviously tell you now wouldn't we?" said the pink haired captain, "So far all the tests we've ran and screened haven't put up a match with the drugs we have on log, neither legal or illegal, which means that we're looking something highly underground, highly illegal and highly dangerous, especially since we don't know what it does."

She frowned, looking at the sheets, then picked up the vial of the unknown sample.

"Do you think this had something to do with her memory loss?"

"Potentially, more tests need to be carried out before we can determine that. We're going to need more samples from her"

"Well too bad for your extra tests, my patient is in a very delicate condition, I can't have you constantly drawing blood from her to examine," she said sharply.

"Then how am I going to figure out what the hell the drug is it woman?"

"Maah~ I don't think we will need to be taking anymore blood from lil Nel-chan, Kenpachi and Kuchiki-san are dealing with the suspect soon, we'll be sure to see if he knows anything about it,"

The scientist grunted in response and turned back to the sheets.

"I think we should ask Kisuke," she said silently.

Immediately the forensics captain bristled and Gin's usually slitted eyes opened fully to show his clear blue eyes.

"I don't think that's a good idea Unohana-san-"

"You're damn right it's not! I will not have the insolent man come in to my lab and take over-"

"Well Gin to be completely honest if you don't know what it is and Captain brainbox doesn't know what it is then I really don't think we have much of a choice in the matter do we? I think he'll know what it is. At least give me the sample sheets and I'll let him read it, then come back to you with what he has to say. If he says he doesn't know...then I'll give you another sample of Nel's blood to test on again." she said. She hated the idea of taking too much blood from her patient, but she was almost positive that Kisuke had the answer to what this strange drug was.

The scientist scowled at him one more time, "Fine. Give the damn man the files and he has til tomorrow afternoon to come up with something"

"Thank you," she said, picking up the folder as well as the vial.

"I'll be taking my leave now, Gin-san walk with me?"

The Narcotics captain nodded and they took their leave. The forensics scientist didn't even say a word to them. She immediately exhaled the pent up anger she'd been keeping in.

"That man!" she exclaimed once the door slammed behind them.

"Maah~ Unohana-san you shouldn't let him get to you, he's just a bit hard to get used to," said Gin with his eternal smile. But that was Gin, he'd probably greet death smiling.

"Do you know when Kenpachi and Byakuya are going to start the work on getting that suspect?" she asked, tucking the folder closer to her chest.

"Soon I should hope, I'm really curious about this substance that the kidnappers have managed to attain. Though I am having a slight fix of deja vu. Do get that to Kisuke as soon as you can, I'm sure he knows something. Or has an idea," replied the Narcotics captain. She smiled one more at him. At least he had some faith in Kisuke. He was probably the smartest man in Japan, as well as ex member of the police force. If he didn't know what the drug was, then that meant they were dealing with some serious people.

"So do I Gin, so do I," she said, "Thanks for the chit chat, as much as I'd love to stay a while longer with you, I have to go check up on Nel, and I have other things that need attending to before I go back to the hospital,"

"It's always a pleasure to see you Retsu," he said, showing his eyes once more. "One more thing, do me a favor and watch over Grimm-kun while he's at the hospital will ya?"

She looked at him curiously. "Why would I need to do that? Do I need to speak of it with his mother?"

"Hmm, there's a quote that says "in order to understand, I destroyed myself," he's confused Retsu and he's stressed. Just keep an eye on him for me, you know how reckless he can be," he said.

"I'll be sure to," she said waving her goodbye at him.
