Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter. He belongs to JK Rowling.

Authors Note: Right, this isn't the chapter that is suppose to be posted but currently said chapter hates me. So in apology I give you this. I'm currently going through some stuff and until I get everything sorted out the chapter won't be right. I'm really sorry. Just a couple of things the Weasley part is written when Charlie and Tonks are thirteen so before Percy goes to Hogwarts. Hermione is a freakishly genius person and I have a weird spin on the Grangers. Which will be revealed in the chapter of Hatred.

Interlude

The Granger Family of Crane Road, Richmond were considered to be upstanding members of society. Within their neighbourhood they were an example of what a plain honest man could be if he worked hard enough. Mister and Mrs. Granger were dentists, each had their own car and worked together at their dental practice, their daughter Hermione was polite and quiet and could generally be found reading something. Some days Mr. Granger would go in to work and Mrs. Granger would mind Hermione, others it would be the otherway round, on the days where both were required Hermione would be left with a young Nanny who had been hired to watch over her.

If asked to rate their ordinary-ness on a scale of one to ten one being out of the world with weirdness the other being the most ordinary person in the world, the Grangers would be rated a seven, only because Mrs. Granger also worked and Hermione preferred reading to having tea parties with her dollies. Which shows how much people see only what they want to.

The Granger house was a house of secrets, some of them were open secrets known to all the residents others no-one knew.

Hermione Granger's first act of accidental magic happened when she was two, her mother was talking with her father in the sitting room and there were cookies on the bench. Hermione, being a small child with the natural sweet tooth, wanted a cookie, and so she got one. Mrs Granger walked in to find her daughter happily demolishing a cookie that she was certain she hadn't had before, making a note of this she put it aside and continued with what she'd gone into the kitchen to do.

Over the years other such incidents occurred, they were generally small and if either of her parents noticed they'd make a note to remember at a later date. However, the older Grangers were often busy with their work and so it came that they never quite realised what was happening.

The work that the older Grangers did often led them to be absent for several days, it also meant that the security system in their house was top notch and that when Hermione was four, and had demonstrated her prodigeous intellect by teaching herself to read and speak French after they went there on holiday, Mr. Granger taught her how to pick locks. For her fifth birthday Hermione was given a book on the Russian language and a Swiss Army knife by her father whilst her mother got her a Science kit, both gifts were given the appropriate amount of excitement and attention. By the time she was six Hermione could speak Russian though her accent was appalling, the Swiss Army knife went everywhere with her and she had tried and succeeded in all of the experiments in the Science kit. The Grangers went to Russia that year instead of France and Hermione's accent improved greatly, she came home with a much better Russian accent and a copy of War and Peace, untranslated.

At school Hermione was considered a know-it-all and had very few if any real friends, she didn't socialise well with those of her age group and so found herself ostracized especially as she was quickly moved up in classes so she would be intellectually stimulated. Both of her parents tried to make up for her isolation by introducing her into after school groups, however, this didn't halp the problem and she withdrew more and more into her world of books and facts.

Everything changed the December after she turned seven.

The Weasley family of the Burrow in Ottery St Catchpole were considered to be good people by their neighbours. The youngest children were rather attached to their mother which it was noted she encouraged, however, this was considered understandable as her two oldest had gone off to Hogwarts and her third oldest would soon follow.
The twins were considered trouble with a capital T but this fact was offset by their need to make others happy and the fact they were never malicious merely... curious. They were often under the care of the third brother Percy who idolised his father and took looking after the twins very seriously, Percy had been watched over by his two older brothers and had sworn when they went to Hogwarts to do the same for the twins. He often worried what mischief they would get up to once he was at Hogwarts but for Percy worry was almost his natural state.
For themselves the twins couldn't wait for Percy to go to Hogwarts for they knew he'd tell them all the interesting things that happened with Bill and Charlie often left out of their letters. Though they were sure they'd miss his mother-henning they would join him soon enough.

Mister Weasley was quite proud of his family, but also very protective and looking at his children he knew that Percy was the one who was most like him and so had sought to instill the knowledge that family and protection of the family comes first. He knew Percy would understand why he was telling him though Bill was the oldest.

Mister Weasley knew all of his children, he knew that Bill and Charlie longed to fly the nest to explore away from the Burrow and their often over-bearing mother; he knew Percy just wanted to keep his brothers and sister safe, he knew the twins wanted to make everyone happy and possibly confuse as many people as they could. He knew that Ron and Ginevra would have the most difficulty later in life as Molly had firmly taken charge of the two and kept them close at hand.

The reward for the capture of Peter Pettigrew had been put aside and he had sworn that it would only be used to buy the childrens school robes and wands, he knew Molly had been talking about having the children use family wands and he'd allowed for Bill and Charlie in their first years but after the reward money had come in he'd brought both boys new wands and intended to do the same for Percy when he went off the Hogwarts and the twins, Ron and Ginny when their turns came around.

Away at Hogwarts two more Weasleys had settled into the school routine Bill the older of the two was a Prefect and had shown a great deal of interest in learning Arithmancy and Ancient Runes, he had decided whilst talking to his head of house that he wished to pursue a job in the field of Curse Breaking for Gringotts, so he pushed himself to excel knowing that Gringotts wouldn't take anyone who did things halfway.

The younger of the two Charlie had decided to take Care of Magical Creatures that year with his best friend Hufflepuff Nymphadora Tonks. Tonks wanted to be an Auror when she finished school whilst Charlie wanted to work with Dragons. Dragons were something, along with Quidditch, that he could (and would) talk about nonstop, he found a friend in Hagrid in regards to this obsession and the two merrily spent hours conversing about the different breeds and their habits.

Also at Hogwarts watching the goings on like a cat watching a mouse Minerva McGonnegal kept one eye on the students and one on the Headmaster, she kept up her correspondence with her friend Gus and the Marauders informing them of what was happening. She watched as Dumbledore went through a period of rage over the loss of his Potions Master and his pawns in the great Chessgame he was playing. However, as time passed she watched with much trepidition as the anger faded and was replace by a sly gleam as plots and plans began to swirl through his eyes. Be careful, she wrote to Sirius, I don't know what he's planning but he's planning something.

Meanwhile, the Department of Mysteries hunted. With esoteric knowledge the sorted and searched, tracking and finding, revealing a disgusting truth.
