Chapter 12

"Sammy." Dean knocks on his brother's door. Sam had been coming out more and more but he was still worried about him. He had said he was fine and he believed him but still. Sam opened the door, looking at him.

"Hey...what do you need Dean?" Sam came out, he was already dressed and looked like he had been reading. "You okay? You up for a hunt? Its in a town not that far from here." He held out the file and Sam took it, reading through it. It was a bunch a cases, all connected by the victims having their hearts ripped out of their chests, and bite marks in the throats. It was wolf kills, the latest one had been found by one of his co-workers. Sam appreciated that Dean wanted to get him out on a hunt, he was wanted Dean to think he was alright, which had been harder than he had thought. In truth, he missed Gabriel so much. He hadn't expected it to be like this. He barely knew he but he was already missing him, badly. The pills Pam had given him didn't help either, he was depressed most days and spent a lot of time alone so he wouldn't take it out on anyone. Being alone only gave him more time to think about and miss Gabe and that usually just made his depression worse. He was glad to be off the pills as of last night and going out would be a good way to keep himself distracted.

"How long would it take to get there." Dean looked over Sam, he knew something was wrong, that Sam was hiding something. He wasn't going to pry but he was worried about him. This would be a good way to get Sam out of his room, and for Dean to keep a close eye on his brother.

"A few hours we can head out now if you want." Sam nodded, moving into his room to get dressed and put his shoes on. Grabbing his coat and heading out to the impala, getting in as Dean checked with Bobby, telling him where they were going before coming out and getting in. Sam stayed awake the whole drive and he wasn't much for talking. Dean booked a motel and talked it over with Sam. "So do you want to check out the morgue, while I order us some food. Just check the body over and I'll look into some of the police files." Sam nods, noticing Dean was already borrowing his laptop to look over things. Sam smiled, slipping out the door and walking down to the morgue. The main doctor showed him in, pulling the body out. Most of the wounds were stitched up but he could see some of the bites marks, they were nasty looking. This wolf wasn't playing very nice, they had torn this man up.

"These bites are nasty...have you put down what did this yet or any clue?"

"Well if you were to ask me I would say a wolf bite...but I don't know any wolves in the area, and none that eat hearts and move on." She shook her head and Sam thanked her before heading back to Dean. "its a heart eating one, Dean." Makes a face and Dean looks up from what he's reading. "Not only that, this is the first male victim, apparently it normally goes after hookers. Did you find anything Dean?" Dean nods.

"About the same as you, I got our vics name. Nate...he was the boss of some big business, one of his co-workers is the one that found him dead. We should go talk to her. She lives in an apartment not far from here." Dean closes the laptop, handing it back to Sam before heading out, sam following after him. Dean drove to the apartment, knocking on the door. A woman answered, she had long wavy black hair and green eyes and damn was she gorgeous. Both brothers looked her over, trying to think of what to say.

"You're Madison, aren't you. We are the state police. We've just come to talk to you about Nate, if you feel up for it."Sam got his voice first, yelling at himself inside his head. He had a mate and yes he was gone, but no that didn't mean he could sleep with someone. On the other hand, one night might help him. She nods, slowly back away from the door, going to sit on the couch. They both walk in, sitting on the couch opposite of her. She wiped her eyes, trying to keep calm. Sam felt bad for her.

"Can you tell us what happened the night before Nate was found dead. Anything that might be of importance?" Sam asks softly. Madison shakes her head. "Nate was a nice guy, to everyone. He was one of those guys you could get along with. No one I knew would ever even want to hurt him. The only thing...well." She chuckled lightly, smiling lightly.

"Well...what?" Dean tilted his head slightly. Madison smiled at him, playing slightly with her hands. "He was one of those guys that could chase tails as easily as he knew how to walk..have you ever known anyone like that?" Sam looked over at Dean who was grinning at her, and rolled his eyes, nodding. "yeah I do."
Dean cleared his throat sitting up more and Madison and sam shared a look, making her smile a bit more.

"So no one would have real reason to want to kill him."

"No but...okay I have this ex, Kurt. We broke up and he went after Nate a few weeks ago, nearly lost me of my job. He's over jealous and well he was hanging around last night but he didn't approach or do anything that I know of but...he's just that type that might have done something." Dean nods. "Do you know where he lives?" Madison nods, heading into the kitchen to get something to write on and handing it to Sam. "He's normally there or at the auto shop he works at." She opens the door as they leave, and Sam nods to her, handing her his phone number, her fingers brushing over his.

"He's our number in case you think of anything else." she smiles, shutting the door. Heading back to the motel with some food, after a quick look through Kurt's apartment and they still have nothing. Other than a high possibility that it's Kurt. He hadn't been to work in a week and his apartment was a wreck. Sam leaned back against the headboard as he ate, looking over Dean's shoulder as he read through some things about Kurt. He was quite the felon, abusive on top of a bunch of other stuff. He was the most likely lead that they had for the wolf. He shifted when his phone rang, pulling it out of his pocket and answering it. It was Madison, and the minute he said hello she went off. Freaking out, Kurt had been standing outside her window watching her. she didn't know how long and he was gone now but it was freaking her out. Sam talked softly to her, promising to come over as soon as possible before hanging up.

"I'm going over to Madison's, Kurt's been hanging around and we don't know what he'll do. You should go find him." Sam was already half way out the door when Dean called after him. "wait why are you going to go hang with the hot chick." Sam didn't answer, as he walked down the road, that lead to Madison's apartment. She opened before he had even knocked and moved back to let him in, he closed the door and she sat down, relaxing into the couch.

"I'm sorry. Maybe I am overreacting."

"No its fine..." He sits down beside her and she relaxes into the couch more. Sam bites his lip, not knowing what else to say, but wanting to get her talking to help her relax. "Can I ask something personal?" She nods, flashing him that smile of hers, and he smiled back. "why did you pick someone like Kurt?"

"At the time..." She chuckled, shaking her head. "I didn't know he would be like this and I was lonely, until one night I got mugged...and I know I shouldn't say it like it is a good thing but it was for me. It made me realize how much better my life could be and so I dumped him and I moved here and restarted my life." She smiled, curling her legs under her. Sam nodded. "Good for you. You deserve better than him, honestly. You are a smart girl, I can tell just by the books you have." The night went on in quiet between them, but it was a nice quiet, spending time watching tv with each other. She went to bed and Sam stayed out on the couch watching over her. His phone rang near morning and he sat up, pulling it out. Seeing it was Dean he answered it. "Hey have you found anything?"

"Now that I am conscious...yeah Kurt's dead and Madison, she fucking ripped his throat out and knocked me pretty good. I thought you were watching her Sammy, you didn't do a very good job."

"what are you talking about?" Goes to check on Madison and finds her still fast asleep in her bed. "She's still asleep Dean, she couldn't have done anything." Dean groaned on the other end of the line as he got into his car. "She wasn't asleep an hour ago. She was in wolf form and eating her ex's heart out. Check under her arm, I got her with my teeth before she knocked me out. I'm coming over there, keep her there, keep her tied up from leaving." Sam goes over to her as she wakes up and sees the mark on her arm before heading to the door and locking it. she comes out looking at him.

"sam is something wrong? Are you going somewhere?"

"No and neither are you." He moved quickly to grab her tying her to a chair, she screamed trying to hit him but he was stronger than her and easily tied her up. He waited sitting across from her while she sobbed, waiting for Dean to arrive. He tried explaining to her but she didn't believe him and he stopped knowing that was wrong. A wolf would know but she smelled human, acted it, and was totally freaking out. She didn't know she was shifting or what happened when she did. If Gabe hadn't of helped him, would his have been like this. Dean knocked on the door and he let him in, Dean glaring at her before Sam put a hand on his arm. "We need to talk." Dean curses but follows him into the other room. "We can't kill her...and before you get on your high horse, she doesn't know she shifting. she remembers nothing Dean, we can't just kill her if she doesn't know."

"She is a killer Sam."

"Not by choice...Please can't we do something...the wolf that turned her, Dean there are myths about killing the head of the bloodlines will stop the change." Dean scoffs, shaking his head. "Those are myths."

"We have to do something." Sam argued his voice going a little higher. There was no way he could kill an innocent even if she was killing, she didn't know what she was doing.

"Even if it worked, we don't know when she got bitten."

"I do." Steps back out into living room, looking over at Madison who was still freaking out. "When did you get mugged?" She jumped when he started to talk as he walked closer to her. She sighed, slowly replying. "a month ago."

"Were you bitten?" she nods, giving him a strange look. "How did you know that? Its on the back of my neck. It happened before I could see who was doing it, it happened near Hunter's Point." Sam walked over, holding out his hands. He lifted her hair back, brushing his fingers over small bites. "a love bite. That could have been much worse." Sam says softly. Dean sighs. "I'll head to Hunter's point then, see if I can find him. Keep a good eye on her." Dean waits for Sam to nod before heading out. Sam watches her carefully, as the moon starts to rise. The growling and popping of joints calls to his attention as she pops out of the ropes, getting him across the face as she starts changing. he ducks, shoving her past him, locking the door and shoving the bookcase in front of it. Sam is half awake by the time Dean gets back and he lets Madison out, she looks around the room it dawning on her.

"I'm so sorry...I...you were telling the truth." She brushes a hand through her hair and hugs him. Dean smiles slipping out of the room, nearly walking into the door as he looked at them. Madison rolled her eyes when he got out. "He's smooth. Thinks you are going to get something as a thanks." Sam looks down, playing with one of her hands. He could and he couldn't, he could always apologize to Gabe later. They were mates, and getting into a fight wasn't the end, once claimed they would never leave each other. There was no divorce. He rubbed his thumb over her knuckles, as he thought about it and he shook his head.

"I can't do this. I'm sorry but...you are safe now." Goes to leave and hears the growling behind him. He snaps around and she is halfway to shifting when he shifts himself, pinning her down on the stopped gasping up at him and he slowly changed back. She started crying and he tried to soothe her. "Please end this, I don't wanna hurt anymore people. Please.." He bit his lip hard before nodding, sitting up with her, snapping her neck quickly. her body dropped to the ground and took a deep breath, moving to get his clothes on before heading back down to Dean who looked at him. He shook his head, moving to get into the impala. Dean gets in, looking over at him. "I found another hunt we could go on...its a few towns over, a couple night drive." Sam nodded, looking out the window. Dean wasn't going to ask, he wasn't. Sighing he turned on the engine, driving off.

I was going to have him sleep with Madison but I didn't want too after bringing Gabe in so I decided not to, it just seemed wrong to do really my best chapter, I don't like it, I didn't enjoy writing it. It was boring and lame but I did it anyways. The next chapter has Gabe and I should have that done tonight. Love Gabe, find it easier to write out.
