A/N: Would've got this chapter out sooner but I caught the flu and on-top of that I had a hospital appointment to attend aaand every single time I tried to write this I kept getting distracted like idek why. Thanks again for all the reviews, follows and favourites. Oh and for the sake of the story, squids can travel on land due to the use of a certain potion.
DEADLOX'S P.O.V
"SKY! GET UP!" I shouted as I saw them drawing nearer. Sky somewhat hastily opened his eyes, "What's going on?" He asked, the slight panic in his voice betraying his stoic features. "They're here. The squids. Sky, we have to move!" I already had all of my tools, weapons, food and armour on me and so I began to dig down. "I have your stuff too." I stated as I noticed Sky glancing towards the stairs. I removed the layer of wood and began to mine down as fast as possible. He placed the wooden plank back to cover the hole and then asked, "Why aren't we fighting?" I shook my head. He didn't see just how many there were. "There's too many, we can't fight them by ourselves." Sky didn't seem too convinced but nodded anyway.
"We'll have to organise an army." The amulet wearing brunette said quite suddenly. I gave him a small smile, moreover trying to focus on the task at hand. I mined until I thought it was safe, which was quite far down and probably more than a couple hundred blocks away. I slumped down against the stone wall, breathing deeply. Item by item, I handed Sky's stuff over. "Thanks." He mumbled after each one. "Where are we going to go?" I asked. We couldn't just mine back up to the surface, the squids would surely be waiting to capture us. "Jerome's place. We're going to have to go there." Sky said with a firm voice, he seemed confident. I gave a nod, indicating that I agreed with his plan. I stayed silent for a few more moments before I finally spoke up, "How…How are we going to find Jerome and Mitch's house?"
The question was left unanswered which in turn, made me worry. Not to the extent of me having panic attack but to the extent that I was beginning to have doubts. I was beginning to lose faith and not only in Notch but in Sky as well. He seemed confident but was he really? Did he really know what he was doing? What if we died down here, there's mobs everywhere! Skeletons, Spiders, Creepers and Zombies. There are zombies every-fucking-where. "Ty?" The sound of Sky's voice quickly shook me from my panic ridden thoughts. I need to get a grip on myself. "Yeah?" I replied, trying to seem nonchalant about the whole situation but I'm pretty sure that Sky saw straight through that façade. "You okay?" I didn't say anything after that. Instead Sky shuffled over to me and wrapped an arm round my shoulders. "We'll be fine." His tone seemed so strong and full of security that I couldn't help but let it wash over me. As if it were a soothing wave or something of the sort. I nearly chuckled aloud but managed to stop myself before it could create a noise of great volume. Since when did I start becoming so poetic?
SKY'S P.O.V
A few hours had passed since we had dug down into the ground and secured a place of safety. Well if you could call it that. I told Ty that I had a plan but in reality I had no idea about what to do, how to deal with the squids or how the Nether we were supposed to get to Jerome and Mitch's house in one piece. Travelling underground is nothing like travelling on the surface, you can't ever really know where you're going unless you've got a map of some sort. And well…We had no map. I inhaled sharply as an idea struck me. "Ty, what types of edible items did you bring?" He turned to me, a confused look on his face. "Um… I brought steak, pork-chops, bread, milk and sugarcanes."
Notch was smiling at us, I just knew it. "I fucking love you." I mumbled as I hugged him fiercely. He just stood there, still baffled about the whole situation but mumbled back an 'I love you too' anyway. "We have to find iron and Redstone." I stated, already beginning to mine a staircase down. I heard blocks giving way to the other side of me and so I assumed that Ty had begun mining as well.
-o-
Around fifteen minutes later I found a cluster of iron. I never thought I'd be this happy to see iron in my entire life. I hurriedly mined it and climbed back up the 'staircase', only to find that Ty was not here yet. I placed another torch on the ground just to prevent mobs from spawning and began the task of climbing down Ty's staircase. Wow. He mines really fast. I continued walking down the stairs until I reached pit of lava, a few ores clustered here and there.
"Ty?" I called out. "Yeah?" He replied immediately, I let out a sigh of relief. Thank Notch he's okay. "I found the iron!" I exclaimed, stepping back almost instantly as Ty appeared in front of me. He held up the pieces of Redstone with a triumphant grin on his face, "And I found the Redstone." This was all going to plan. We'll definitely make it to Mitch and Jerome's house now. When we reached the top of the staircase, Ty quickly made a crafting table and placed it down. He then proceeded to craft a furnace which I then placed the iron in. After it had smelted, I quickly put together the Redstone and iron in order to make a compass. "I'm just curious but why did you bring along sugarcanes?" The question had just been floating around in my mind aimlessly ever since the whole ordeal began. "Well…I brought it along in case we needed more energy. Steaks good and all but sugar is what really gets your blood pumping!" He said with a slight chuckle as he handed the sugarcanes over to me. I turned a few of the sugarcanes into paper and then placed the compass in the middle of the eight pieces of paper.
"A map?" He asked and I nodded, smiling when I saw realisation dawn upon him. "Let's go!" He said with a renowned vigour. We looked at the map and realised that we had mined up until the desert biome, we had so much more to get through but at least we knew that from here on, it was mostly a journey straight forward with a few turns nearing the city.
MITCH'S P.O.V
I replayed the news report I had managed to get from MC News after much persistence and a persuasion of the sort. It was the clear, non-blurred version of the footage. I was trying to find out clues about what had happened. The whole situation had Sky in a mess and Ty as well. And although I haven't known Ty for that long, I feel as if I need to help them with this. To provide them with some type of closure, if not for Ty, then for Sky. I immediately hit the pause button when I saw a blue object or something not too far from the scene of the crime. "Jerome!" I called out and two seconds later Jerome was tumbling down the stairs and into the living room.
Before he had a chance to speak up I asked, "Jerome is there a zoom in feature on this television?" The Bacca grinned and nodded, taking the remote from my hands and fiddling with it. Within moments, the screen had zoomed in. I took the remote back from the taller male and then moved the remote's arrow-keys around, positioning them so that the screen focused on the blue thing. I gasped as I realised what it was.
"A squid." Jerome all but snarled. A scowl made its way onto my face. "It's not Solaire, it seems to be a normal minion." Jerome stated as he examined the still image. "Yeah…What the hell is Solaire up to now?!" I exclaimed in anger. Didn't he know when to stop? He had already murdered Dawn and traumatised Sky. I was not looking forward to whatever it was that he was going to pull next. We had to be prepared.
DEADLOX'S P.O.V
It took a few days but Sky had said that we were nearly there. We were nearly at the city. Just a few more blocks. My arms and legs we're aching even though Sky was the one who was mining the stone most of the time. He didn't let me mine that much, claiming that I should rest and that he would handle but of course, I wasn't having any of that. I mined for a few hours until he finally put his foot down and didn't allow me to mine any more.
Ten minutes later, Sky placed his hand on my shoulder and smiled. I could've jumped with the amount of glee I was feeling. The amulet wearing brunette began mining a staircase up. I climbed the steps slowly behind him. When Sky saw what he considered to be the final block before we once again saw the outside world, he paused. Looking back at me to see that I was still here and I nodded up at him, signalling him to mine the final block. Unfortunately though, that wasn't the final block.
He chipped away at the stone above it until it finally crumbled, letting the dissipating light of dusk filter into the small stairway. Total and utter elation coursed through my veins at the sight of the setting sun. We clambered out of the hole and took in our surroundings. Inhaling the fresh, crisp air was like giving water to a parched animal. The beauty of the moment began to fade away as we realised that we were still in danger and that the squids could be anywhere. I grabbed Sky's hand and we both hurried off towards our destination, hoping that Mitch and Jerome would be home and that they'd have a clue of what we should do.
"We're nearly there. Just a few more blocks." Sky said, his voice filled to the brim with mirth, almost as if there was no danger present. In turn, I let out a small laugh because just a few more blocks is what motivated us to keep on mining even when our hands and arms became riddled with blisters and sore. So sore that we could barely even keep the pick-axe upright and swing it but in the end, we did it. We got out and found the way to the city. I thanked Notch repeatedly and cursed myself for ever thinking that Notch specifically hated us and wanted to see our downfall because he didn't and now I knew it…
