Chapter 12: Parting Ways

In the Candy Kingdom during nighttime, the group along with Finn, Jake and the Candy People partied. Ed, Numbuh 3, and Fluttershy dance together with the partygoers, but Mabel and Pinkie Pie partied the hardest. Eddy, Numbuh 2, 5, Applejack, and Rarity were at the refreshment table, eating and drinking happily. Marceline floats by and helps herself to some punch only by sucking the red out of the beverage. Princess Bubblegum is talking to Double D who compliments the party.

Numbuh 4 and Rainbow Dash were having an arm/hoof wrestling match, which Rainbow Dash becomes the victor. Mordecai and Rigby cheer her on with their usually, "WHOOOOAAAA!"

Rainbow Dash joins in, "WHOOOOAAAA!"

"I wanna a rematch!" Numbuh 4 demanded.

"Okay, but it's your loss, kid." She smirks ready for another round.

David stood on the side watching all the excitement. "Aren't you going to join the party?" He looks over to see Twilight.

"Nah, I'm fine." He shrugs, "I'm not too big on parties."

"What! Not big on parties?" Finn exclaims over hearing the young man. "How could you not like parties?"

"I do like parties…" David reassured, "just never been invited to them before."

"Never been invited to parties?" Jake chimes in, "What kind of place you from where you don't go to parties? I mean, we don't invite the Ice King to our parties but still…"

"It's probably because I didn't really fit in well with everyone back home."

"I'm sorry to hear that." Twilight replied in sympathy.

The young man shrugged it off with ease. "No worries. I'm sure they weren't all that great anyways. Not compared to parties like this."

"Yeah, what do those parties have that we don't?" Jake remarked.

"Since you're here, you should try to have some fun." Finn suggested.

"Maybe I should." David lightened up, he then gets an idea, "Say Finn, why don't you and Jake come along with us? You can see more humans out in the world."

"That would be awesome!" Finn replied with joy, "But... I think we're gonna stay here. The citizens of Ooo need our protection."

"Yeah, after facing off with that monster who knows when we'll be under attack again?" Jake added.

"But hey, we'd defiantly like to take you up on your offer one day. I'm curious to see all kinds of humans and adventures outside of Ooo."

"Then let's make that into a promise." David suggested.

"A promise it is then." Finn acknowledged.

"Now that's something I can agree on." Jake nodded then suddenly changes the topic. "So who's ready to get back to partying?"

"I know I am." Finn replied getting back to the dance floor.

Twilight giggled at the scene, "You really know how to make friends?"

Suddenly, Dipper enters the room calling out to the group, "Hey everyone, come quick! We have something to show you."

David and Twilight followed him along with the others who were not on the dance floor into a side room. There, Numbuh 1 waited for a discussion.

"What is it?" Double D asked.

"We have some very good news." Numbuh 1 announced satisfied.

"Tell us, Numbuh 1." Numbuh 2 said eagerly.

"I hope this is important." Numbuh 5 grunted.

"As a matter in fact, it is." The KND leader smiled. "Dipper here and I have been examining the coordinates Jack given us back in the park."

Dipper takes the lead, "After some further research, we've connected the coordinates with the journal and it leads us to our next location."

Numbuh 1 then finishes, "The location of our first resistance."

"Are you serious?" Numbuh 5 let out astonished.

"This is wonderful news!" Double D said relieved.

"It's about time." Eddy remarked. "So who is it?"

"It's the Nickelodeon Resistance."

"The Nickelodeon Resistance…? Never thought we'd reach them first?" David stated. "Can't wait to see what their base of operation is like."

"So where are they located?" Numbuh 2 asked.

"It doesn't quite say." Numbuh 1 pondered. "The only lead we have is that it lies in an ancient civilization across the sea from here. There is a ferry station we can take to get across."

"Guess this means the party's over now, huh?" Numbuh 4 mentions.

"Ugh…" Mordecai and Rigby both sighed irritability.

"Do we have to leave right away?" Mordecai uttered.

"We're exhausted from all the work." Rigby whined.

David snorted, "C'mon you guys, it wasn't all that bad."

"Yeah, we're the ones who got our butts handed by a super villain." Numbuh 5 retorted.

"Now you mention it, we should take it easy for tonight." Numbuh 1 confirmed. "After all, we have traveled a long way to get here, so let's celebrate."

"Now you're talkin' my language." Numbuh 5 cheered.

"Let's get back to partying!" Numbuh 2 said raising his fist into the air.

"Enjoy this moment tonight team, tomorrow we leave at dawn." Everyone leaves the room gratefully to attend the party.

The view was pitch black once more. The voice of a young woman could be heard crying out.

Darigan... HOLY... HOLD... the Nexus... I hate them all!

David abruptly opens his eyes standing in the center of an entire village consumed by fire. Flames and smoke reached the skies as he looks around in shock. A little girl is on the ground crying. David tries tending to her aid but immediately turns around to a tall dark figure standing above him in the midst of flames.

David suddenly throws himself up gasping for air, as he appears to be in bed. "Was that… all a dream?" Commotion was happening outside his room, "What the?"

He rushes out as well as the rest of the group waking up from Banana Guards marching down the halls.

"Hey, what's going on?" Eddy asks wondering what is happening.

"We're under attack!" A Banana Guard informed him.

The group followed the Banana guards outside then head towards where Finn and Jake along with Princess Bubblegum are to see what is happening. High above them, two large statues called the Gumball Guardians try to neutralize a red dragon in the air by swatting at it. The dragon breathes fire on one of them causing the guardian to fall over. The other one tries swinging its arm out but misses.

"Is that a dragon?" Twilight cried. "Where did it come from?"

"I don't know, it just came out of nowhere and started attacking the kingdom." PB replied.

The Banana Guards ready their cannons and begin firing. The dragon dodges the attacks and destroys the canons with its fire breath. It hovers over everyone roaring, "Traitors!"

"It can speak!" Finn let out.

"At least we know this dragon can understand our language." Mordecai nervously mutters.

Finn hops onto Jake's back holding his sword as they stretch up towards the dragon in midair. The dragon spots the two and swings its tail at them knocking Jake over with Finn still holding on as the two come crashing down on a building rooftop.

"Finn…! Jake…!" David cried out.

The dragon lands on top of a building glaring down at everyone. David is in a state of shock when he realizes the dragon. "Arokh…?" He said.

A powerful blast suddenly strikes the dragon blowing everyone back. Princess Bubblegum lied on the ground in a daze as she glances out in the opening through all the smoke and destruction to see a familiar dark figure turn and walk away. She opens her eyes wide and gasps.

As soon as everyone got back up the dragon emerges from the debris and flees the kingdom. Finn and Jake returned to the others seeming unharmed but a bit bruised up. "You guys alright?" Finn asked panting.

"We are for now." Princess Bubblegum informed. "It seems like the worst is over."

"Is there anything we could do to help your kingdom?" Twilight offered.

Princess Bubblegum shakes her head, "It's okay, we can handle things from here. You must be on your way and continue your journey."

Numbuh 1 nods to her in response, "Alright, thank you very much your majesty for everything you've done for us."

"Yeah, let's get out of here before the next monster shows up." Numbuh 2 said hysterically.

"Don't go jinxing things on us now, Numbuh 2." Numbuh 5 retort.

"Numbuh 1…!" David called out, "I would like for us to go after the dragon."

Everyone reacted surprisingly. "What!"

"Are you crazy or somethin' Dave? That dragon almost killed us and you want to chase after it." Numbuh 5 pointed out.

"I know this all might seem unexpected to everyone, but you have to trust me on this." David explained. "There's something about that dragon I need to know."

"This guy really is crazy." Numbuh 4 exclaimed. "How could you possibly wanna go after a dragon when it almost burned down a fortress?"

"He talked didn't he? You all heard him, right? I need to know what he meant."

"But he might try to eat us." Numbuh 3 said concerned.

"Spike's a dragon who talks and he never eats anybody." Pinkie Pie remarked.

"But Spike's a baby dragon, how could someone as cute as him eat anyone?"

"Even if you want answers from this dragon, we still have a mission." Numbuh 1 reminded. "We've finally found our first resistance, we can't delay any longer."

David looks at Numbuh 1 or a moment and sighs, "Then let's split up."

"Huh?"

"Your right about how important this mission is. Since we first started, I want to see it through just as much as you do, but I can't leave. There is so much I need to know, that's why I think we should split up to continue the mission."

Numbuh 1 takes a deep breath, "Very well. If any of you wish to go with David your more than welcome to."

"We're going with you David." Double D said.

"We are?" Eddy reacted.

"Cool…! We get to fight a dragon." Ed responded eagerly. "This is going to be just like that one game."

"Are you sure about this?" David asked in concern.

"It might seem dangerous at first, but I trust you know what you're doing." Double D smiled.

"Thanks Double D..."

"Wish I could go, but gotta stick with my team on this one." Numbuh 2 proclaimed. "Hope you tell that dragon who's boss." He then jokes.

David chuckles, "Thanks Numbuh 2, I'll be sure to give him a piece of my mind."

"Well you recruited us remember?" Mordecai mentioned.

"Yeah, so we'll go with you and hunt down some dragon." Rigby added.

"We'll follow you as well, David. We are part of your team after all." Dipper remarked.

"That's right." Twilight nodded. "You always have us."

"I guess this means goodbye, huh?" Numbuh 3 pouted.

"Aww~ don't worry. We'll see you again soon." Mabel comforted her.

"You mean it?"

"Of course, everything's going to be just fine."

"And when we do see you again, we'll throw another huge party!" Pinkie Pie cheered throwing streamers.

"Yay, Party!"

"Numbuh 3…!"

"Oh right, sorry…"

"We'll continue our mission with the coordinates Jack gave us while the rest of you follow the instructions through Dipper's journal."

"Thank you Numbuh 1." David said. "We'll meet up with you once were done." After a final goodbye, the two groups part ways.

"Hey Peebs…?" Marceline suddenly shows up, "Is everything alright?"

Princess Bubblegum turns around and sighs in disappointment, "This is not good, Marceline."

"What do you mean?" The vampire asks.

"He's returned."

"Who?"

The Princess looks up and narrows her eyes, "Darigan…"

Father enters a conference room, where a meeting of other executives is taking place.

The first is a pink brain with black eyes inside a green glass dome filled with water attached to a large purple bear sitting upright and wearing a black bow tie and two white cuffs around his wrists.

The second is a woman with red hair in a bun and pale skin. Her attire consists of a skin-tight rubber suit, along with a pair of elbow length latex gloves, high-heeled boots, and a pair of black goggles that reveal her blue eyes.

The third was a slender, average middle-age man with gray hair, goatee, mustache, blue eyes, wearing a tuxedo.

The fourth is a very physically large hunched back man who has a baldhead, a mustache, and an oversized cigar in his mouth.

The final was a light-blue skin man with an average height and build, long black ponytail, a scar under his left eye, and thick unibrow with his primary outfit a blue double-breasted coat and trousers, with black gloves, boots, a wide belt and black collar.

"How goes the search, Hector?"

"My men went through the wreckage left from the Kids Next Door ship but no sign of the object." The brain informs.

"Would you care to fill us in, Uno?" The man with the goatee asks.

"We had a break in at the operation base by members of the Cartoon Network Resistance, namely the Kids Next Door, who stolen something valuable of ours. Our skilled pilot, Ali Al Saachez, shot down their ship containing the object and there's been no sign of it since."

"Talk about a tough break, huh?"

"Because of Saachez's recklessness, it could've fallen into the ocean or been destroyed in the process." Hector retorted.

"In any case, how goes the search for finding their base of operation?"

"We have nothing on their location." Hector informed, "They've been too careful not to expose themselves, sending out small factions of their group to interfere with our plans."

"And that leaves us with another problem." Father mentioned turning to face the woman with goggles, "What are our leads on the boy, Major Doctor Ghastly?"

Ghastly takes the stand, "He was first spotted with the Kids Next Door in Townsville and later at a local park. His whereabouts afterwards were unknown until we received word from Lemongrab he was in the Candy Kingdom."

"It's as we expected," Father nonchalantly remarked. "The boy is working alongside the Cartoon Network Resistance."

"So why don't you guys let us in on this boy?"

Ghastly explains, "You see Dr. Phillium; there has been a breach from the outside world after the Kids Next Door escaped from our base. They brought along with them a boy, an outsider. We've tried tracking him down ever since he was recruited."

"Why didn't that Lemon-head just capture the boy in the first place?" The man with the cigar exclaimed.

Dr. Ghastly continues, "Due to our treaty with the Candy Kingdom's ruler, we were prohibited to interfere with the boy since he was in Ooo territory."

"Those candy dwellers from outside the city? They don't even have the authority to harbor a fugitive."

"That maybe true, Mr. Boss." Ghastly agreed, "But they are also honorary citizens to HOLY. If we don't obliged to their commands, then we're likely to start a war with them, which is something we can't afford to deal with given our situation towards the Cartoon Network Resistance."

"What I like to know is how did a group of rebels manage to get pass by our security undetected?" Dr. Phillium asks irritatedly. "We have troops patrolling the whole area from outside the district. No one could have easily gotten through without being noticed."

"It's possible they may've found a secret passage way we might've missed." Ghastly puzzled, "But the real question is... what could the Resistance be doing all the way out in Ooo?"

"We'll have to put our concerns for that aside for now. In the mean time, let's discuss our situation with the boy." Father said facing the blue skin man, "Dr. Drakken, why didn't the Nonames finish him off?"

The blue skin man, Drakken, responds, "It would seem like someone had intervened and dispatched three of our Nonames right outside the park. Someone we don't know yet who's working alongside the Resistance."

"Yet another freedom fighter problem left to deal with." Phillium remarked sarcastically. "So what are our options here?"

"Should we consider assigning Saachez back on the job, sir?" Doctor Ghastly suggested.

"Absolutely not," Hector said dismissively. "He's far too reckless for the job. Besides, he's stationed on patrol duty in one of the districts."

"What do you propose we should do, Dr. Drakken?" Father asks.

Drakken replies with a grin, "I suggest we send out more of our strongest and stealthiest Nexus to exterminate the boy."

"That seems logical." Phillium acknowledged. "But we're going to need more of an alternative source, something that won't draw too much attention."

"Benedict is right." Father agreed. "We'll need a special force we can take advantage of without stirring up any conflict."

Ghastly ponders for a moment before coming up with something, "I may have an idea, sir."

In an enclosed, semi-symmetrical canyon lies a base at the end as a familiar theme by Trocadero plays in the background. We close in on two soldiers standing on top of their base, one clad in maroon armor and the other in orange.

"Hey." The soldier in maroon said.

"Yeah?" The soldier in orange replied.

"You ever wonder why we're here?"

"It's one of life's great mysteries isn't it? Why are we here? I mean, are we the product of some cosmic coincidence, or is there really a God watching everything? You know, with a plan for us and stuff -"

"... Hey, wait a minute?!" The maroon solider abruptly interrupted, "Didn't you tell me that exact same thing the day we first arrived into Blood Gulch?"

The orange solider stops to realize, "Hey your right, talk about major déjà vu huh?"

"Well yeah!" The maroon soldier exclaimed.

"Huh. Time flies," the orange soldier mused. "...Though, how long has it been, really?"

"Umm..." The maroon soldier thought about it. "Hmm...It's...I think it's only been about... two weeks since Tex left here and blew up."

"Thought we'd never get rid of her," The orange solider remarked, "She scares me after what she did to our base."

"Yeah...she WAS scary. But you know, it's sort of odd that interesting things only happen when Blue Team is involved with something," the maroon soldier said.

"Dah, we should just leave Blue Team with their problems," the orange soldier waved it off. "...Though, I wish we could have done that if Sarge wasn't so...obsessed about what they're doing. They're probably at a canyon wall, spying on us. But they would just see that we're standing around and talking."

"...That's basically on what we've observed like a few days ago," the maroon soldier pointed out.

"Well, boring means that it's safe. We wouldn't have to risk our lives anymore, or do crazy missions that puts our lives in danger," the orange soldier said. "It's better that way, honestly."

"Simmons, Grif, get down here!" A soldier in red armor from below the base ordered the two soldiers.

The orange one, Grif, groans, "Yes, sir..."

At the other end of the canyon lies another base where two soldiers are spying on the orange and maroon, one wielding a sniper rifle in cobalt armor the other standing behind him in aqua armor.

"What're there doing?" The aqua solider asked.

The cobalt solder sighs lowering his rifle and slowly turns around to face the aqua solider, "Seriously?"

"What?"

"Haven't we been through this before, Tucker?"

The aqua armor solider by the name Tucker responds, "I just said, "What are they doing." What's wrong with asking you that?"

"I've already told you this before... they're just standing there and talking. If you wanna see for yourself use that incredible eyesight of yours."

"Meh, didn't want to," Tucker said, hands behind his head.

"Then stop asking, "What are they doing." because the answer is just going to be the same every time you ask."

"Well...what do you expect? Things suddenly got boring and I got nothing else to do," Tucker said.

"Well...we could have done a few things, really," the cobalt wearing man said.

"Speaking of, where's Caboose?" Tucker asked. "I don't want him to accidentally break something."

"Hey Church, Tucker!" A soldier in standard issue blue armor called out to them from below their point of view, "I've finished watching the flag as you requested."

"Caboose!" The cobalt man shouted at him. "What are you doing out of the base?!"

The solider name Caboose replies, "Well... it kind of got lonely in their so I asked Sheila if she could watch the flag for me so I could see what you guys were doing."

"Caboose... get the hell out of here." Tucker exclaimed. "You wanna blow our cover."

"But you guys aren't doing anything, though," Caboose pointed out.

"Go find something else you could do then," Church demanded, "we're busy spying on the Reds."

"What are they doing?" Caboose asked.

"They're...just standing around and talking," Church muttered.

"...That sounds like what we're doing," Caboose said.

Church groans, "I seriously hate all of you." He looks back at Tucker, "Tucker, go back to the base with Caboose."

"Why me...?"

"Cause... you're annoying. I don't need Caboose here to annoy me either."

"What 'bout spying on the Reds?"

"As I said before, they aren't doing anything. If something comes up, I'll let you know."

Tuckers sighs, "Fine..."

Back at the Red Base, Simmons and Grif start running down to meet the red soldier and a soldier clad in pink armor.

"Hey you guys!" 'He' the pink soldier said in excitement, "Glad you can make it."

"Wouldn't want to miss this for the world, Donut." Grif replied sarcastically.

"What is it Sarge?" Simmons asks the red soldier, referring to him as Sarge.

"Men, as you, there had been some inactivity with the Blues after a couple of weeks back," Sarge began. "So Lopez and I took the liberty to modify the jeep some more."

"You forget to include me into this Sarge." Donut stated.

"Oh, great. So what did you do?" Grif asked with a bored tone.

"We modified the Warthog with a new feature." Donut said turning to a large, armor-plated, jeep like vehicle behind him.

"What kind of feature?" Grif asked, "It just looks like any other Warthog of ours that always gets destroyed."

"It may be, BUT! For the trips that would be long and boring...we included a movie player on it," Sarge said.

The two stared at them. "...It was Donut's idea, wasn't it?" Grif asked him.

He turns to the clad in brown armor in the driver's seat, "Show em, Lopez."

A light brightens on the vehicle's front view as it plays footage on the base's wall a screening recapping some of the past events that had occurred with Red Team during the misadventures with Blue Team.

"Hey it's us." Simmons let out astonished.

"Wait, why do most of these images keep showing me blowing up?" Grif questioned.

"Awe, those were the good ol' days." Sarge admired. "Wouldn't you say, Lopez?"

"Personalmente prefiero verlos a todos explotar, entonces ya no tendré que aguantar más su estupidez"

(Translation: "Personally, I rather see all of you blow up, then I wouldn't have to put up with your stupidity anymore.")

"Ah...indeed they are," Sarge nodding, clearly not understanding their Spanish talking robot at all.

Grif gave an annoyed grunt.

"Man, if only we could see the look on the Blue's faces as we have a Warthog that can play movies showing them their epic failures." Simmons comment.

"Oh look, there's us playing Grif ball." Sarge pointed out.

"Really Sarge?" Grif dismayed.

"Feels like a home movie," Sarge said with a smile in his voice.

A radio interference is soon heard calling upon the Red team, "Hello, hello. Check one, check two. Calling Red Base can any of you hear me." The voice on the radio asks.

"Huh...a call from Command," Sarge let out in surprise.

"That's unusual. They hadn't called us in a while," Simmons said. "I wonder why they're calling us now?"

"Don't know but let's see," Sarge said before tuning in to the radio. "Come in command!"

We cut to a man sitting at a control panel, "Hey dudes, long time no see, how's it going? Bet you you're all bored out there in Blood Gulch Outpost Alpha."

"Well, I wouldn't say bored but...it HAS gotten a little dull," Sarge admitted.

"Well dudes, have we got a treat for you, as well as the rest of Red Team of Blood Gulch," the man said.

"Really?" Grif replied. "What could command have in store for us?"

"You're being recruited dude. You're finally leaving that canyon and being assign a new tasks."

"We are?" Simmons blinked.

"Who would be recruiting us?" Grif asks.

"Some secret organization," The man answers, "Don't know much about them, but there looking for some special force to track down a fugitive. Saying they're having personal problems with a rebel group of some kind."

"Rebels?" Sarge repeated, surprised. "Are they the Insurrectionists?"

"Not quite," the man said. "But they are said to be dangerous nonetheless."

"Well in that case then, we're on board." Sarge proclaimed.

"We are?" Grif uttered, "Just like that."

"When do we head out?" Donut asks.

"As soon as you amigos are ready," the man said. "The fugitive in question is a young man with black hair and green eyes, wearing all black. You'll know when you see him."

"Must've done some serious crimes if he's a wanted Criminal." Simmons said.

"Alright men, pack your things. We're moving out." Sarge commanded.

"Uh- w-wait. We're heading off. Just like that to catch a guy?" Grif let out, startled.

"That's right! Now quit loly-gagging and get moving!" Sarge ordered before he went into the base.

We cut back to Church still at his post when he notices the Red team hopping into their Warthog and taking off.

"What the hell?" He let out.

"Hey Church!" Tucker called out to him from below. "What's going on over there? Are they doing anything yet?"

"...Yeah, they just...left," Church answered, lowering his sniper rifle in surprise.

"Really, where are they going?"

"I don't know. But I have a hunch they're being sent off somewhere."

"...Should we be worried?" Tucker asked him.

"Well...to be honest, no," Church admitted. "Still...it's strange."

"Still, I say we go after them." Tucker suggested.

"What?"

"Think about it man, if the Red team are heading off somewhere it might mean they found something to do that isn't to annoy us."

"...Your point?"

"Well we put up with your crazy ex-girlfriend throughout most of our time here. Who's to say the Red's might come back with something even worse that'll only end up biting us in the butt." Tucker remarked.

"...Good point."

"Besides, things here have just gotten boring already. So why don't we spy on the Red's for a change and see what they're up to. You know, beat them to fight for once."

"Hmm...well...that is a good point," Church decided. "Like what you said, it DID got boring." ('Maybe we might be able to find Tex, too...')

"That's the spirit. I'll go get Caboose. Hey Caboose…!"

As Tucker leaves to inform Caboose, Church stays on his post watching the Red Team leave their base. "...What are they up to?"
