Chapter 12: Shit Happens

Randy ran up to his room and quickly searched for the Nomicon. He scattered all of the papers and books on his desk to find the Nomicon; it wasn't there. He ran over the Kace's desk and pushed all of his papers off of his brother's desk. Randy panicked when he couldn't feel the heaviness of the book when he pushed all of papers off of the desk. THUNCK. Randy turned around to find the ancient book on the ground under Kace's drawings of his suit. He let out a relived sigh and picked up the book; he let his brother's drawings flutter to the ground. Randy curiously picked up one of Kace's drawings and studied it.

It just, doesn't look right, Randy thought as he heard Nomicon buzzing in his arm. Randy sat down (so he doesn't get another bruise on his head) and opened up the book.

He felt himself get sucked into the book; he watched as his room disappeared from his sight and was replaced by papers and words swirling around him. Randy hit the ground on his butt, hard, and watched as papers flooded the area around him. Randy defensively put his arms above his head and closed his eyes; he expected to feel the sharp edges of the papers on his skin, but instead he felt nothing. Randy looked up at the sky and dropped his arms to his sides as he saw the huge gargoyle-like lion shuffle through the papers on the ground.

The Nomicon liked to appear in that form because they didn't always like communicating with Randy by writing a message in the sky, so they like to mix it up a bit. The lion suddenly bent their head down and picked up a piece of paper with their mouth. Nomicon turned towards Randy and dropped the piece of paper, but instead of it going onto the ground (Nomicon doesn't like following the rules of gravity) it went up into the sky. The picture on the paper was separated from the piece of paper, leaving the doodle, enlarged, on the sky. In front of Randy, appeared a large red pencil as Nomicon walked up to Randy and sat beside him.

'Is this your brother's design for his armor?' a booming voice said.

Randy jumped at the sound of the Nomicon's voice; it always scared the shit out of him. He always imagined the voice of his teacher being loud and thunderous, yes, but he never imagined Nomicon's voice always changing. They say it's because they keep the accents of their past DJs. Sometimes their British, and other times they are Australian, but most of the time they have a Japanese accent. Today, they had a Southern accent*.

"I mean, I guess so," Randy shrugged then quickly shook his head, "but that's not what I came here for," he wiped away the drawing in front of him and turned towards the lion. "I made a date with someone and we were going to go to the rave tonight. But, it turns out I am the Norisu Cloud 9 DJ and I have to host the rave," Randy watched as Nomicon brought back Kace's drawing with a swipe of their paw.

'Personally, I don't think this design would protect him. Seems too, tight,' Nomicon ignored Randy and started to draw on Kace's design; mentally, of course, with no pencil or anything.

"Hey! I'm talking to you!" Randy stepped in front of Nomicon's line of view and waved his hands. Nomicon looked down at Randy for a second and continued to draw on the picture. "I don't know what to do! Should I ditch her and continue the rave, or should I still be with her and do the rave at the same time?"

'Cancel the date. Now help me fix this design,' the lion shook his grey mane and snorted at Randy.

"Cancel? But why"

'Being a DJ is more important than having a date,'

"Why!" Randy whined and rolled his eyes.

'The price of greatness is responsibility,' Nomicon said, his accent changing to a wise Japanese voice. As they said these words, the words were then written out across the sky in big letters. God dammit, they are spouting off wisdom again, Randy thought to himself.

"So, this means if the greatness is Theresa then I have to be responsible to her! Yeah! I can totally do that! Don't worry, Nomicon!" Randy laughed and saluted the lion. The lion shook its head and continued to focus on the drawing in front of him.

As Randy picked up his giant red pencil to help Nomicon, he studied what Nomicon has done so far. He almost didn't keep any of Kace's original design, except for the black suit. The feet of the suit had metal boots with the Norisu 9 on the sides of them. Around the waist was a red scarf-like sword holster, and on his knees to his shins were metal plates to protect them. On his shoulders were the same metal plates going to his elbows, which also had another metal protector. That was as far as Nomicon had gotten and waited for Randy to add his details to his twin's suit.

Randy added a scarf to the suit, but all piled up on his right shoulder; he thought it could act like a hood if needed. The mask was going to be the hard part; this is the only part that matters when hiding someone's identity. Randy added eye holes to the mask, making it so people could see Kace's eyes, and outlined the eye holes with red lining. Between the eyes were two small triangles hanging down from the top of the middle of the eye holes. Coming off from the holes, two streaks came off from the top and went around to the back side of the head. On the bottom of the mask was a solid red square covering the mouth. On the back of the head were two metal spikes jutting out. With this addition, Nomicon looked at Randy with a confused expression. Randy shrugged and said it looked cool.

"I think I am done," Randy nodded at Nomicon. The lion nodded back and produced a mask identical to the one Randy had just created.

'Give this to your brother. I hope he doesn't mind that we changed his design,'

"So, about the rave?" Randy asked.

'I've already told you my answer,'

"Yeah, but what do you really think,"

'LEAVE,' the lion swatted Randy which pushed him back into his bedroom.

When Randy woke up, he saw Kace looking through his papers that were thrown about by Randy. Kace was DEFINITALLY not a neat freak, and neither is Randy, but he always liked to have his desk cleared off enough so he could do his "stuff".

"So looks like you finally came back, huh," Kace said bitterly without looking at Randy. Randy noticed that instead of the drawing that Kace made that was in his hand when he went inside the Nomicon (NOT LIKE THAT YOU PERV) he had the mask that he and Nomicon created. "Would you like to tell me why ALL OF MY STUFF IS ON THE GROUND?" Kace yelled at Randy. Randy grimaced and stood up.

"I couldn't find the Nomicon," Randy shrugged and then scratched his head, "Wait, why did you have the Nomicon?"

"Uh, I already told you. Concealing my identity-"

"What does the Nomicon have to do with concealing your identity?"

"Well, if you would let me fin-"

"OH! Are you going to hold the Nomicon up to your face and hope that no one recognizes you?" Randy held up the book to his face and started mocking Kace's strut. Kace snatched Nomicon from Randy and slapped his brother's arm.

"I need to show Nomicon my design," Kace began opening the book. Randy closed the book just as Kace started to flip to a page.

"The thing is, I already showed him your design," Randy nervously handed his brother the mask that Nomicon gave to him. Kace ripped it from Randy's hand and scowled at him.

"Why did you show them that? It wasn't finished! And it DOESN'T EVEN LOOK LIKE THE PICTURE?!" Kace screeched holding the mask out so he could see it properly.

My god, my brother is such a girl. And he's supposed to be the bad one! Randy thought as his twin continued to screech. "Put it on!" Randy snapped at his brother. Kace went silent and carefully put on the mask. The transition was similar to Randy's (except Randy's was cooler) as ribbons shot out from the mask engulfing Kace into it. But these weren't like Randy's; Kace's had metallic ribbons that looked like they were sheets of metal. Big, thick sheets of shiny metal encased Kace's body which left him with his suit. He looked exactly how the picture looked, except he had his glowing purple sword strapped to the holster.

"Hmm," Kace looked in the mirror that they had in their room. "I guess, this will do," he took off the mask, which unraveled the entire suit from his body. "So what are you going to do about the whole date problem?"

"I don't know really," Randy bit his lip. He really wanted to go out with Theresa.

"Do both," Kace shrugged and put down the mask on his bed. Randy sighed and rolled his eyes.

"Well, that's what I was thinking about doing," Randy put his hands on his hips, "I was going to ask you if you could take my place for the night,"

"Oh, hell no. I'm the ninja, not the DJ," Kace imitated ripping the tracks. "Ask Howard,"

Randy looked at his twin like he was crazy. Howard, try and be the DJ? No, no, a thousand times no. it would even be worse than Kace taking over his spot and playing a bunch of Rock music.

"Well, I'm guessing that's a no,"

"Kace, come on. Take over for me!"

"No,"

"It's just for the night!"

"NO NO NO!" Kace waved his hands in the air and shook his head. Randy rolled his head and sighed.

"If I'm doing both, then you are going to have to help me," Randy pointed at Kace.

"Fine, whatever," Kace gave in and rolled his head. Randy pumped his fist into the air as to say "Victory!" and grabbed the Nomicon and his goggles.

"Come on. It's almost time!"

"Where is she?" Randy said under his breath. It's been an hour and he still hasn't found Theresa; Randy has been using the goggles to try and pick her out of the entire audience.

"Did she get stanked?" Kace asked. It's not like he really cared about Randy's feelings for Theresa, he just wanted Randy to shut up about the god damn girl.

"No, I don't see her as any of them," Randy worryingly searched even harder. Randy put on the next song* as he felt his butt vibrate. He reached in one of his pockets and pulled out his phone to find that an unknown number texted him.

'Hey Randy, its Theresa. I might be a little bit late to the rave. Baton twirler meeting ran over.' Randy smiled and replied to her message.

'Well, you are already late. It has been an hour since the rave started.'

'Haha. You're so funny, Randy. Expect me to be there in a half an hour.'

'Alright, have fun twirling.' Randy ended the conversation and saw that Kace was scowling.

"What's wrong? Robot?" Randy whispered.

"No, one of the monsters is acting weird," Kace pointed out into the crowd to a tall purple monster. Instead of the other monsters, it was just standing there staring at Randy and Kace. Randy shuddered and adjusted his headphones.

"Jeez, isn't he creepy,"

"Yeah, that's what I thought. Should I check him out?" Kace pointed to the monster again but with his thumb. Randy shrugged and scratched the back of his neck.

"Do it. You might be able to try out your new suit,"

"Yipee," Kace said in a monotone voice.

"I was joking, you most likely aren't going to use it," Randy laughed and changed the song to a more lively summer song he made*. He watched as his twin went out into the crowd of people and makes his way over to the monster. He watched as the monster followed his brother with his eyes until Kace got to it. Not worried at all, Randy started to dance a little bit; everything was going just as planned.

That was, until the monster smacked Kace. Kace flew up against the wall making huge cracks from his landing. The monster rawred with its big slimy black mouth; the teeth in its mouth were the size of Kace's blade. Just as Kace got up, Randy felt his phone go off again.

'WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING? WHY ARE PEOPLE SCREAMING AND RUNNING OUT OF THE RAVE?' Randy hesitated to answer as his brother yelled.

"SO I WONT USE MY SWORD, HUH DJ?"

Hey guys! I'm back after all of this time! I'm sorry its been so long! School has been horrible; at least I'm out now. This chapter took me 3 days to do, and it's a little bit longer than what I usually do. I wanted this one to make it to 4,000 words, but I only got to 2,000. Dang it.

Anyways, huge shoutout to Dork Asian for keeping me on track with this story and helping me push through it. It may seem like I don't like this story anymore, but I still love it! I'm just so busy, and I'm changing so many things from what I originally had.

*Southern accent= I had in mind for this accent to be like Master Chief's from Halo. So look that up.
