Disclaimer: NAURTO ISN'T MINE. Kiyowa is. :
A/N: Alright guys. Warning: This Chapter is Short. This is because the next chapter is going to cover alot of things that I can't (nor want) to divide. Q3Q Sorry. Dun h8 me you gorgeous people, you.
After the initial greeting of Kakashi back into the world of the living, and a run down on what had been occuring in the absence of his consciousness -of course, excluding Kiyowa's run in with Tazuna's 'home remedy'-, everyone had returned to their usual activities. This mainly consisted of bickering, talking, explaining, drinking, resting.. Pretty much something different for everyone while they awaited their sensei to get back to top physical condition.
Kiyowa was back to being restrained to her mat, and the presence of alchohol was nowhere near her. Tazuna wasn't even allowed around her anymore. No one was taking any chances.
Now that the alchohol had worn off, Kiyowa was back to being torn between shivers and sweats, although it wasn't nearly as bad as it had been. Maybe that home remedy really did do something other than make Team Seven's lives Hell. Her ribs were still bugging her too, and that only seemed to have gotten worse with the aid of alchohol -likely from all that running and crawling around she was doing-. Oh well, guess there were drawbacks to everything.
"Kiyowa."
Her head lifted up, and her eyes were slightly wide as she glanced over to her sensei. He pushed himself up into a sitting position, propping with a pillow, "I'd like to talk to you about something."
"Eh..?"
"During our encounter with the first Ninja. The Demon Brothers. You knew I wasn't dead," He studied her with his dark colored eye prior to continuing, "...How?"
"I could feel it," Kiyowa said, tearing away eyecontact at the risk of the Jonin saying something about how odd that was, or how that wasn't possible. To her surprise, the opposite came.
"I figured as much."
To this, the female's eyes went shooting back up to her sensei in surprise, "You knew?" Does this make what she has normal? Well then again, it couldn't be too normal if everyone was making a big deal out of it.
"To think and to know are two different things.. Buuut, I had a hunch," Shrugged the older of the two.
"So can you tell me more about it?"
"Well.. I need a better idea of it. What exactly do you think you felt?"
Thinking back to all the different occurances in which she had felt her ability come to her aid, she filed through them in an attempt to find the best examples.
Unbeknownst to her, Sasuke was lingering in the kitchen, on the other side of the doorway. He had aksed these questions earlier, but apparently not the right way. Still, he wanted this information, and if eavesdropping would get it, then so be it.
"The first time! When we had our bell test!" She began explaining how she felt during their lunch break and what had occured to make her feel such way. The whole time, Kakashi was nodding and making audible sounds of understanding.
"Or before Zabuza appeared in our formation!" She went somewhat blank in thought, remembering what had happened. It was certainly something traumatic to recollect, "I was terrified, and it was like I could feel everyone's fear on top of mine. I could barely stand up and then.. Just when I was starting to calm down, it was like I couldn't breathe. I opened my mouth for a breath of air and.. And I .. I couldn't get any air. I thought I was going to die. I tried to see where it was coming from, and it felt like it was radiating from Sasuke."
The Uchiha narrowed his eyes upon hearing this. It wasn't embarassing, and yet he growled anyway. It caught him off guard to have that moment known by anyone else other than he and Kakashi. 'She felt that..How in the..?'
"So You can feel emotion that goes with it then, not just the chakra itself." Kakashi thought out loud, triggering a nod from Kiyowa. She figured that was about right, but she wasn't sure. "Well. It's settled."
"Settled?" Kiyowa repeated, quirking a brow, "What do you mean, Kakashi-sensei..?"
"It's settled, that's what I mean. You're a sensory type."
"A Sensory Type?" Sure, it rang a bell, likely from classes back at the academy, but perhaps she should have paid better attention.
"A Sensory Type is a ninja that can identify chakra over long or short distances using any of their five senses. You, apparently, use feeling."
"Well, what about the other senses?" Kiyowa inquired, becoming curious about others of her kind.
Kakashi reached up, slowly though, to his chin, holding his chin in thought as he cast his gaze up towards the celing, "Well. Think of it as someone like an Inuzuka. They have tracking abilities using scent. The Hyugas, in contrast, can see chakra through their Byakugan, which intensifies their eyesight. You, You use feeling."
Kiyowa nodded in understanding. It made sense, but then, she needed to know, "How would I get used to using? Or uh.. How would I .. Get better?"
"Well you would have to practice how you sense chakra. It requires focus."
There was the keyword! That made everything that Kakashi said, as well as certain things that had occured make sense! "AH! T-THAT'S RIGHT!" She lurched forward in such a way that she needed to take a sudden stop in order to keep the pangs from overrunning her body.
"Something you recall?" Questioned the silver haired Jonin. Whatever more information she had would make it easier to train her in using her ability, so he welcomed it with open arms.
"Yes!" Of course, this would mean that she would need to admit she wasn't paying attention on the mission. "Well.. I was..Wasn't.. Paying attention.. O..On the mission. After uh.. After Naruto hit the tree with the kunai. I-I was um.. I was watching the rabbit and. So. I . Uh. I couldn't.. sense Zabuza."
"So you can only use this sensory ability when you focus. That's normal, although, as of now, that's a major drawback for you. I've found focus is one of your erm," Pausing, Kakashi searched through his head to try finding the right words that wouldn't upset the delicate hearted female, "Weak points.."
She knew it was true. It didn't hurt that much coming from her sensei, especially considering she could tell he had put so much effort into getting away around making her feel bad. Nodding slightly, she voiced her agreement, "That's.. That's true. Could you help me with it?"
"Well.. Focus isn't exactly something that can be taught. Although, we can easily work on it. In fact, I'll try to do my best to help you while we're healing up. We should have plenty of time, and plus, we don't have anything better to do, right?"
"That's true! Alright, Kakashi-sensei. Teach away. I-I'm ready, I promise," Feeling somewhat excited, Kiyowa began to bubble up anxiously.
'So that's how she did it,' Sasuke thought, satisfied with the information he had received. It seemed she had her own special ability, and it certainly sounded like it could be a useful tool for further encounters. Especially from what Kakashi had told them about Zabuza possibly being alive, as well as with an ally, 'Heh. Could wind up coming in handy...'
"Hmm, Alright. Concentrate on what's around, and try to extend the range of your sensory for as far as you can."
Nodding, the blonde haired kunoichi pushed her fingertips together, closing her eyes and focusing deeply. It wasn't too much longer after she closed her eyes, that they reopened in a snap, and her eyes moved over toward the doorway. Slowly, her head turned back to Kakashi, and despite her light blushing, she moved her finger up to her lips in a 'shhing' fashion. "Sasuke," She said nonchalantly, catching the male by surprise, "Is there.. anything that caught your attention in this conversation?"
Kakashi's eye traveled to the doorway as the black haired male stepped out into the light of the room. The Uchiha's eyes darted to the ground, and a faint red careened through his cheeks, "Hmph.." He had forgotten about his being able to be caught. Now this was... pretty embarassing.
Kakashi smiled, finding some amusement in what had taken place, "That's a good start," He began, "Now let's try something a little different, um.." Pausing slightly, the Jonin turned his head toward Sasuke, "Would you like to spectate?"
After a brief glance over to Kiyowa, who turned her head away, the male nodded, sitting down with his legs and arms folded, "Yeah.."
"Try focusing on the amount of chakra I have in my hand, and where I have it," He raised his hand, and while at first, his hand remained looking normal aside from the fact that it was raised in the air, it began to burn and ripple an odd blue color.
Taken somewhat aback, Kiyowa raised her hand as well, the one opposite of her wound, and slowly she began to concentrate. 'Moderate chakra, I guess.. It's enough but not alot.. Index finger, thumb, palm centre.' Attempting to feel the correct amount of chakra in the correct places, she focused hard, and immediately yet suddenly, her palm erupted into the same shade of blue as Kakashi's, "AH! I-I did it!"
Sasuke narrowed his eyes, angling his head to the side whilst raising a brow. She seemed to do it so easily... Would this mean that she would be able to copy things like Kakashi now?
"Very good. You're pretty quick at this," Kakashi said, nodding in approval, "And now I know that your sensory can be used for immitating as well. Just work on improving your range, and you could make quite the decent tracker." After saying this, the male would turn his attention to Sasuke, who was still analyzying the blue that illuminated Kiyowa's hand, "Sasuke. I need you to get the others. I think.. I'm well enough for a little training."
"Kakashi-sensei," Kiyowa imposed, letting go of the chakra stored in her hand as she attempted to get her opinion to him, "It's the edge of dark..."
"For what I have planned, that won't make much of a difference," Kakashi assured.
Sasuke rose from his spot on the floor and departed the room, rounding up the others.
Kiyowa was shaking, not only because walking was still a little painful for her, but after seeing what Kakashi had done, she found it difficult to even imagine herself emulating him, "K-Kakashi-sensei..?" She warily began while gulping at Kakashi's current positionining.
Oh, that's right, see. Kakashi was currently standing. Albeit with a crutch, but he was standing. Not only that, but not right side up. He was standing upside down, feet and crutches practically glued stabily to the underside of a large treebranch. He had just casually WALKED ON UP! It seemed Everything Kakashi did was casual, regardless of what miracles he was performing! So maybe Zabuza was right about something.
'Kakashi really is full of surprises..'
"Yes, Kiyowa?" Questioned the sensei nonchalantly.
"Do..D-Do you really think I should be doing this while injured..?"
"She's got a point sensei," Sakura interjected.
"Y-Yeah. What if she falls or something?" Naruto added.
"Tch," Sasuke simply shook his head, "She'll be fine. She's Special."
Having Sasuke calling her special should have sent Kiyowa upside down on that tree faster than anyone could blink.. but something about the way he said it wasn't exactly affectionate. In fact, it was almost venomous. 'Did..I do something wrong..?'
"Very true, Sasuke. She is. Now, Kiyowa, if you recall what we worked on, you should be fine," Kakashi coaxed.
Sakura and Naruto looked between one another, both exchanging looks of confusion. Seemed like they couldn't help but noticed that they had missed something. Alot of somethings, actually.
"A-Alright.."
"Good." Kakashi turned to walk back down the tree the way he had walked up it. Casually with one foot after the other.
Kiyowa had managed to memorize the chakra she had felt in his feet, and she tried to remember the places in which he had focused it. 'Ah.. T-The soles? There's not as much in the toe and heel but..' She focused the appropriate chakra into her feet, then turned to look up the tree. Her foot rose, pushing lightly onto the tree. To her surprise, beneath her feet, the bark began to crack and shattered, pushing her backwards and onto the ground, "AGH!" She shouted in pain as her back's impact on the ground sent tinges of strong pain through her body. She didn't even have the heavy padding of her sweater to break her fall...
"KIYOWA!" Naruto and Sakura shouted in unison, directing their attention.
Sasuke shifted his attention, narrowing his eyes in somewhat concern, although it was difficult to distinguish in those dark eyes of his, "I thought you said she would be fine, Kakashi."
"...That.. That was my fault." He moved over with his crutch, pulling the girl gently to her feet, and watching closely as she managed to pull herself together after a while. It looked a little painful, in fact since she looked like she was on the border of tearing up and giving up. Somehow, though, she managed to pull herself together. She weakly coiled her fist with her free hand and dried away the welling tears before they had the opportunity to fall.
'Well...she's getting stronger..' Kakashi thought. He did know that was a big mistake on that part to forget to explain to her the differences that would make her change her chakra configuration, rather than just copying with her ability.
She turned her head around, forcing a smile as she nodded toward her teammates firmly, "It's fine guys.. I'm alright." To think before, she could barely get a word out edgewise without second-guessing herself or stammering. She was certainly becoming more confident, or maybe just more comfortable around her team.
"You see.. I forgot to mention that when it comes to this and walking on water and other surfaces, copying won't cut it. You need to adjust your chakra to your own body stature, and you wound up using alot more chakra then you needed to by using the amount of chakra I did."
As the rest of the team continued to try the excercise, Kiyowa heeded Kakashi's words and began to put together her building blocks of focus.
"Kiyowa, you can sit out if you want," Kakashi urged, and yet she never responded to him.
For once, she had pushed aside distraction to keep herself intune, 'That's Naruto's chakra..' She thought, focusing in on the one that had skid back down the tree after the attempt at a running start. 'Sasuke's chakra,' She pinpointed the one midway up the tree that was beginning to leap backwards. 'Sakura ch..' Sakura's chakra was making its way up the tree with no trouble at all. 'That's it!' Closing her eyes and focusing chakra to her feet, the female smiled only slightly as she turned around to face the tree.
"You're not seriously gonna try again, are you?" Naruto stopped to ask, but she didn't reply to him either. Instead, she walked up to the tree, standing at its base and gazing straight up to the leaves and branches above. Her foot was placed against the tree, and she walked up the tree. While after the first couple of steps took some getting used to, she was getting up there. Sooner or later, she found that about fifteen feet from the ground was way further out of her comfort zone, and so she moved to a branch so that she could safely turn around and begin walking down.
'..She focused on Sakura's chakra to get her own.. Sakura is closer to her weight out of the teammates, and was having the least amount of trouble scaling the tree,' Kakashi thought. He nodded in approval, not being able to mask (Well technically he did mask it, but I don't mean literally) the smile forming, "Well done."
Sasuke glared over to Kiyowa, lips pursed together. He couldn't stand the fact that her little talent was now making her some kind of star. It wasn't fair to those that really had to work for their skill, like him. Or at least, that's how he saw it, "Tch." He turned his eyes away and moved back into his jumpstart to running up the tree.
It seemed the blonde haired girl really had no clue as to what she had done wrong... But she really wished she could get an idea.
"Good work, Kiyowa. You and Sakura are free to go rest." Kakashi announced, leaving Sakura and Kiyowa joyfully rejoicing as they both went about their business. Kiyowa, for one of the two, was set to go back to resting, but Sakura, apparently from what she had heard later on, had been volunteered to go out on the town with Tazuna.
Upon her form hitting the mat beneath the blanket, Kiyowa was out like a light.
