Gods and Monsters – Chapter 12 – The things we keep safe

Allegra woke up, head pounding, and tired to a chair. She tried to look around but there was hardly any light to see much. A door to her side opened and shut hard.

"Allegra Rossi, genius hacker for the Cavallone Family. It does not surprise me that you would be within the Vongola HQ. But what does surprise me is the fact that you are wearing the Vongola Cloud Guardian's colors."

She said nothing to him just continued to stare.

"Silence, I see. You don't have to say anything it's not your mouth I'm interested in. At least not for now. You've been in the Mafia your whole life I expect you'd know how not to give in when being interrogated."

"I will not be swayed into joining your cause."

She told him with defiance laced in her voice.

"Oh, I am not going to even attempt to sway you over to my side."

He leaned closer and grabbed a hold of her by the neck.

"I am going to force you to do as I want. And don't think anyone will come looking for you because it will never happen."

"You must not know the Demon of the Vongola very well."

"So, the rumors are true. You are involved with him, that makes taking you from there all that much sweeter."

"And what if they are. You can't tell me your scared he'd actually find this place."

The man in front of her slapped her across the face. The impact was so hard she spit out blood.

"My mother hits harder than that."

"Shut up woman. He will never find this place, no one is coming to get you. Has it not sunk in yet?"

"Not really, not when I know I've made friends out of all of the Vongola Guardians. Even the Décimo himself."

"That man is nothing but a figment of the past leaders. He is weak and but a child still."

"No, he has the ability to lead the whole of the Mafia. He holds everyone's respect sooner or later someone else would have found out what you were planning and would have taken you out for him."

"That's enough out of you."

He said as he tied a cloth around her mouth so she could no longer speak. When he was done there was a loud boom coming from the ground above them it shook the floor.

'Gokudera,'

Her eyes told him what they were both thinking.

"That's impossible."

He said as he left the room to find out what was really going on. Upon getting to the main level he was met with a line of bodies covering the floor. Smoke had filled the room and it made it hard for him to see in front of himself. He rubbed his eyes to clear his vision but when he saw the silver blur in front of him he quickly wished he had not.

"Where is she damnit?"

"Gokudera Hayato,"

The man said through a choke as Gokudera had him by the front of his shirt and had slammed him into a wall.

"Hibari!"

The Cloud Guardian came through the hall like Death had rolled in and was on a mission to collect.

"He came from down stairs."

Barely spearing the man a glance he spoke.

"Don't kill him. We'll take him back to Tsunayoshi as a gift."

Hibari left and went down stairs.

"Killing you now would have been easier, but that would have denied the Boss the satisfaction of doing it himself. And trust me when I say with him your death with not be done quickly."

Once in the basement Hibari did the smart thing and turned on the light. In the middle of the room he found Allegra sitting tied to a chair. She watched him come closer and remove the cloth around her mouth first.

"You let yourself get taken."

"On purpose, though now I regret it. My head is killing me."

Hibari said nothing as he finished un-tying her. Allegra rubbed her wrist, they were raw from being tied so tightly. When Hibari was done with the rope around her legs she stood.

"Thank you. How did you even know where to find me?"

"Shoichi Irie put a tracker on you. We all have trackers so if something goes wrong, weather we are dead or alive the Vongola will find us."

"Remind me to thank him later. That is when I'm done with you."

She said as she walked closer to Hibari and leaned up to kiss him but was stopped.

"Can we get out of here now? I think this guy pissed himself, he smells."

"Let's go."

Hibari told her and they all left back to the Vongola base. Gokudera delivered the man they now knew as Rodrigo off with Tsuna and Xanxas so they could interrogate him. Hibari brought Allegra to the infirmary within the Base. Shamal wasn't around so Ryohie would do in healing her.

"So why'd you do it?"

Ryohie asked her.

"I thought if I let them take me I could infiltrate from the inside. But of course with my luck Kyoya and Hayato came before I could get much of anything."

"Hibari would have gone to get you no matter what. He's an ice block but the man does have feelings. You could have at least told someone."

"Kyoya would not have let me go through with it."

"Mmh. Okay I'm done, no bruising at all."

"Thanks Ryohie."

"Yup, anything for a friend."

"I've never had so many friends before. I was always a loner."

"Heh most of us were, until Sawada brought us together. The other Guardians and I are brothers to the Extreme."

"I don't doubt it. I should get going before Kyoya comes looking for me again."

"Later,"

She waved bye to him and left the room to find Hibari. Friends, it was nice to say she had those now. In her younger years she really was a loner, her head was always in a book. Even when her mother tried to kidnap her from the Mafia life. It never would have worked; her father would have found her. Just like Hibari found her. So far the men in her life always knew where to look. Allegra finally found Hibari standing by the room that Tsuna and Xanxas were in, Gokudera and Yamamoto were there as well.

"Kyoya,"

Hibari stopped talking with he other two and turned to her. He saw that she was healed, no more bruises on her face. That was the last time this was ever going to happen. He'd lock her in a room if it meant keeping her safe. But Hibari knew a strong willed women when he saw one, she'd fight tooth and nail to escape her confined state.

"Keep me updated on the progress."

"We will."

Hibari turned fully to Allegra and he guided her back to their room. When there he two dogs yipped in glee at seeing her.

"Oh hello my babies, I missed you for the few hours I was away."

The leaned into her loving hands with delight. She gave each one a last pat then walked to her suite case that held her clothes to change.

"We will be leaving in the morning."

"But isn't it already morning. The clock says 4am."

"When the sun is up. Sleep I will wake you in a few hours."

"Are you not going to sleep with me?"

"I will, but there is something I must do first."

"Okay."

Hibari left their room while Allegra finished getting ready to sleep. Hibari made his way to the giant library within the Vongola mansion, he was meeting with Allegra's father Alessandro.

"So have you made a decision on the matter?"

"Fine I will take the offer you have. If only to prove that you can trust me."

"I am doing this for my daughter Kyoya. She's all I have, and she was taken from me once I handled that pretty easily. I will not hesitate to do so again if I feel she is in harms way."

"Hmm,"

Hibari picked up the file on the desk beside them then walked out of the room. He hadn't expected Alessandro Rossi to try and challenge him with Allegra. Alessandro still didn't understand that he wasn't going to harm her or let anything happen to her. Despite what had just happened, that technically was her own doing. She let it happen because she wanted to find out more about this group that was threatening to take down on of the biggest Mafia Families not just in Italy but the world. Their Boss had tried his hardest since taking up the job officially to create more peace between everyone but there was still a long way to go.

Walking into his room Allegra was already asleep and her dogs laid at the edge of the bed. He sat on the bed and one of the dogs, Caliban, rolled over and put his paw on Hibari's leg. As if the animal could feel his stress from the events that had just played out. He pat his paw.

"Good dog."

Removed his jacket and tie, unbuttoned the first few buttons on his shirt and slid his shoes off before laying back in the bed next to the women he was going to keep close. Most times Hibari knew how to learn from his mistakes. Although he might have to let just one more happen to find his real enemy and bring them to the light. The tracking devices he persuaded Shoichi Irie to create were going to come in handy very well for him.
