This Chapter and the one before were really meant to be one chapter but missed this out by mistake. Thanks for reading. Please R&R. x

Mulder and Scully walked up to Regina's manor. Scully noticed the kitchen light was on, even though it was light enough for it not to be needed.

Mulder knocked on the door and they stood waiting, in silence. Scully after a few minutes tried the handle, and found the door unlocked.

"Really Small Town." Mulder smiled

The two agents moved into the house.

"Miss Mills?" Scully called

They were met with eerie silence, Mulder and Scully nodded, and pulled out their guns. They moved slowly round the house, having reached almost all the downstairs, Scully stopped by the kitchen door, and Mulder slowly pushed it open.

Blood covered the counter, the smell of burnt flesh struck both of them. Scully moved to the hob, and saw a pan full of oil and fat.

"Oh my god," Scully gasped, looking around the kitchen, nails lay in a pile by the bin, and a pile of black hair. A bloodied hand print was on the window.

"This was left for us to find," Mulder said, "We need to inform Sherriff Graham."

Scully nodded feeling bile rise in her throat. They walked as quickly as possible to the sheriff's office, locking up Regina's house behind them.

"They killed her." Scully suddenly said when they were almost there

"We will catch them, there are fingerprints, evidence." Mulder smiled at her

The two of them walked into the Sherriff's office, they both reeled in shock as Regina sat on one of the desks talking to Graham.

"Good Morning." Graham said

"Mayor Mills?" Mulder said confused,

"Yes, I had a clear day, thought I could help with the investigation." Regina said, looking at the shocked reactions of the agents, "I'm sorry, is there something wrong?"

"Where did you spend last night?" Mulder asked

"I beg your pardon, how exactly is that…." Regina began

"We went to your house this morning, someone had been murder and eaten there." Mulder said anger in his eyes, Regina took a step back from him, mouth open. "Now, where were you last night?"

"Someone was at my house, trying to scare me, they left a bloody handprint on the window. I freaked out, and went to stay at a room at Granny's for the night." Regina said coolly, but the shock was clear on her face.

"It's time for you to come clean with us Regina, you know who is tormenting you. If you want this to stop you need to tell us." Mulder said

Graham looked at Regina, as her eyes fell to the floor.

"Regina, if you know tell us. We can protect you." He said, taking her hands in his.

Scully and Mulder watched looking for any threatening look in his eyes, instead they found his eyes full of concern.

"His name is Alexander Bean. I thought he was dead, but I guess he's not." Regina sighed, "He used to work at The Rabbit Hole. He got into a fight with one of the customers, and was fired. No one has seen him since, I suppose he ran away to the woods."

"Why is he targeting you?" Scully asked

"I was the one that suggested he be fired." Regina said quietly

"Do you know who his accomplices might be?" Mulder sighed

"No." Regina said, her eyes falling to the floor again, "Who did he kill?"

"That shouldn't be too hard to find out, anyone missing will be noticed pretty quickly." Graham said, "I'll go start asking around."

He grabbed his coat and headed towards the door, not before kissing Regina on the cheek. She sat stunned as he left, she was used to sex with him, but not him being gentle and sweet towards her.

Scully registered her strange reaction to her apparent partner's kiss, but shrugged it off, there were more important things to worry about now. She turned to Mulder and saw his eyes, full of suspicion, staring down at Regina.

"We need to collect the evidence from your house." Scully said, interrupting Mulder's stare

"Of course, can I come with you?" Regina asked, she sounded the most fragile Scully and Mulder had ever heard her.

Scully was about to say no, she felt Regina would not be prepared for the scene in the house, when Mulder spoke first.

"Yes, you could help determine anything out of place."
