Chapter 12

For the past six months Kami had been observing the progress of all of the earth's strongest warriors. After Raditz was defeated by Goku's son, Gohan, Yamcha returned to the lookout along with Tien and Choitzu. They wasted no time and immediately began training for the day when the other Sayains would arrive. Yamcha spent the better part of a month trying to get his other friends to catch up to his level of power. Tien managed to do so with relative ease, while Choitzu on the other hand was falling behind. From time to time Kami would come out and train the three warriors himself, teaching them new ways to train and to test themselves. Under Kami's guidance both Yamcha and Tien had an equal level of power, both of which could now combat the Raditz by themselves if they so pleased. But Choitzu was still quite weak in comparison to his friends. From what Kami could tell, Choitzu's power was about half of his other students. And yet even with Yamcha's and Tien's strength, they still were no match for Goku's son Gohan. From what Kami observed of the boy, he had grown exponentially in power and skill. Kami knew that the fate of the world rested on that little boy and his father, for if they failed then it would not be just his own death that would come about when the Sayains arrive. Though Kami was not certain as to what will befall himself or his other Piccolo, he knows for a fact that in about six months' time, his life will come to an end. Kami himself foresaw his death not long after Raditz was killed and it has always been at the back of his mind, and also that of his others because of the mental link they have. Piccolo himself had grown in power substantially as well, though not quite as strong as Gohan, he will still be a formidable ally for when the Sayains come. Suddenly Kami then sensed something amiss over in the northern territories of the earth. Kami opened his eyes and stood up from his throne inside the palace. The room was small and dark but suited his needs. Kami then exited the room and headed outside. Kami headed straight for the end of the lookout not wasting time on talking to his training apprentices. When the elder Namekian arrived at the edge he looked down and sensed the northern area. What the guardian of earth picked up troubled him considerably.

"What is it Kami, is something wrong?" Mr. Popo asked his longtime friend as he walked over to join Kami.

"My friend it seems as though Goku's friends have been busy in these past months." Kami started.

"Well that is good news, they are gathering the dragon balls then." Mr. Popo said.

"Yes and it appears that they have gotten themselves in a bit of trouble with no one able to help them." Kami continued.

"What sort of trouble?" Mr. Popo asked.

"Someone by the name of Dr. Kochin has taken them hostage. From what I can tell, all of the dragon balls are there right now." Kami explained.

"Oh my, then perhaps we should send one of your students down to help them." Mr. Popo suggested.

"I'm afraid that I can't allow that Mr. Popo, they are not yet strong enough for the incoming threat." Kami said.

"Well then who can save them, we need the dragon balls to bring Goku back and I do not think Goku or your students would be too keen on leaving their friends in harm's way." Mr. Popo said.

" I understand that my friend, but as I said, Yamcha, Tien and Choitzu need to spend as much time training as possible, however… Perhaps we could send Son Gohan to help them." Kami suggested.

"Gohan, Goku's son, you would send him to help them, but why, he is just a child after all?" Mr. Popo asked.

"A child he may be, but he is the strongest fighter that this world has ever seen, even now I can feel his power growing, if any one was to go and help his friend it should be him." Kami explained.

"I suppose so, but if that is the case then shouldn't he train just as hard as the others?" Mr. Popo asked.

"I agree yes he should, but I cannot in good conscience allow the boy's mother and friends to suffer." Kami explained. "I've made up my mind Mr. Popo, I will let Gohan know of what has happened.

"Of course Kami." Mr. Popo said as he then walked off to see how Yamcha and the others were doing.

Over on the other side of the world, in the dry wilderness, Gohan and Piccolo were sparing for the fourth time in the day. The fighters were high in the sky attacking and blocking each other's attacks. Gohan now wore a GI that resembled his fathers and piccolos. Gohan's top and pants were a dark purple like Piccolo and he also had a green undershirt. On top of that, Gohan had a new set of weights that all together weighed 1000 lbs. The new weights took a little while for Gohan to get used to but now he can hardly feel it.

"Haaaaaaaaaaa" Gohan yelled as he flew over to Piccolo and threw a punch which Piccolo managed to block. Gohan didn't stop there however as he continued punching his mentor and then after about six punches Gohan broke through Piccolo's defense and sent the green man hurdling down onto the hard ground.

"How'd you like that Piccolo?" Gohan asked his mentor. Suddenly Piccolo fazed behind the four year old and slammed him down with both his hands. Gohan managed to stop himself from crashing into the ground but then Piccolo flew down and kicked Gohan down the rest of the way.

"Don't get cocky kid, over confidence is your downfall, you may have strength but it makes you reckless" Piccolo said as he descended onto the ground. Gohan hopped out of the small crater he created when he fell and looked completely unharmed and looked right at Piccolo.

"I know that silly, I just wanted to have some fun that's all." Gohan said with a smile. Piccolo was not impressed though.

"The Sayains could be here god knows when and you want to sit there and have fun" Piccolo growled at his student. Gohan saw the look in Piccolo's eyes and didn't like it one bit.

"Okay I'm sorry Mr. Piccolo, I will pay attention more." Gohan said.

"Good, now get into position." Piccolo said. Gohan then got into his fighting stance and readied himself. Piccolo bent into his own stance and the two fighters seemed to be in a standoff, neither one wanting to make the first move. Finally Piccolo acted and sent flurry of Ki blasts over at Gohan. At unbelievable speeds Gohan managed to deflect everything Piccolo had with his two hands, until Piccolo extended his arm and grabbed Gohan while he was distracted and threw him into the sky. Gohan managed to compose himself but not before Piccolo threw a fist into Gohan's Gut. Gohan's breath was taken away from the sheer force of the blow. Taking advantage of the situation Piccolo managed to land a good combo onto the young fighter, but suddenly Gohan seemingly fazed out of existence ad appeared right behind Piccolo and kicked Piccolo right in the back. The attack disoriented Piccolo enough for Gohan to trap Piccolo in a flurry of punches and kicks ending with Gohan drop kicking his mentor back down to the earth. When Gohan landed on the ground he saw that Piccolo was moving slowly as if injured.

"Uh oh, Mr. Piccolo are you alright?" Gohan asked going over to his battered and bruised mentor.

"I'm fine kid, this is just what happens when you don't mess around." Piccolo said. This didn't make Gohan feel any better though.

"I'm sorry Piccolo, I hope I didn't hurt you too badly." Gohan said with his head down a little bit.

"Trust me kid I'm fine, don't beat yourself up over me getting injured." Piccolo said. But Gohan always would, he didn't like to hurt people, even people who were trying to hurt him it was just in his nature, but then there was the side of him that was pure rage, a side that he knew he needed to tame and use when the Sayains arrive.

"Hello, can the two of you hear me?" A voice suddenly said. Gohan jumped in surprise at hearing another voice in the secluded wasteland that the two of them were in and tried looking around to find the source but for the life of him he couldn't find it.

"Who said that?" Gohan asked. Piccolo simply scold as he knew full well who it was.

"Young Gohan my name is Kami, I am the guardian of the earth." Kami said telepathically to the student and mentor.

"Wow THE Kami is taking to me, what can I do for you sir?" Gohan asked the heavens above.

"Yes pray tell old man, what do you want." Piccolo growled.

"Ahh Piccolo a pleasure as always, I do hope your training is going smoothly." Kami said.

"Get to the point, what do you want?" Piccolo said impatiently.

"Of course, Gohan it seems that your mother and her friends were trying to gather the dragon balls and wish back your father Goku from the dead." Kami started.

"Really that's great." Gohan said with joy.

"Were it only so, unfortunately they were captured by a Dr Kochin in the arctic and are in dire need of help, Gohan what I need you to do is go to the arctic and save your mother and her friends, and secure the dragon balls, for we will need them very soon." Kami explained.

"Of course Kami I'll go right away." Gohan said as he was just about to take flight but was stopped by Piccolo.

"Oh no he isn't, you better find another hero old man because Gohan has a lot of training to do before the Sayains arrive." Piccolo argued with the voice in their heads.

"Piccolo this is not the time to argue, the more time we waist the last chance we have at defeating the Sayains, I need Gohan to do this, there is no one else" Kami explained. Piccolo didn't like it one bit but gave in.

"Fine, I expect you will be back as soon as you're done with god's work." Piccolo said to the boy.

"Of course Mr. Piccolo, I'll be back before you know it, Gohan said flashing his mentor a thumbs up before taking off as fast as he could.
