This is not an update. Sorry if that's what you were looking for. But I had been stuck on a writer's block for ages now, and I didn't care about Digimon for a long time as well, and I think I can resume in due time because hey, I should try to finish what I'd put so much effort into. In the interim, I've learned that I write quite esoterically and I expect people to remember as many details as I do (as the author), and that people don't read quite as carefully as I'd assumed they do. For this, I think I might have caused some confusion and obfuscated some hinted-at-but-not-explicitly-said plot points that people might have missed. So in the interest of clarity, and it's vital to enjoy the story in its entirety if you know all of these things, here are some details that should be spelled out so far:
Setting
I did say all five seasons happened. But as far as we need to know, in my timeline, Season 4 (Frontier) ended just as Season 3 started; in fact, in my headcanon, the invasion of Lucemon of Shibuya was what initially allowed Digimon to break into the real world freely as in Tamers. In other words, Tamers couldn't have happened without Frontier. That's why Frontier kids are the same age as Tamers kids. In Frontier universe, remember, they didn't age because time flowed so differently.
Also, in case this was also missed, the Frontier kids along with Ruki are in the Tamers version of the digital world.
The other seasons happened in alternate timelines. Their effect on the story will be felt, but likely none of the characters will appear.
Characters
Frontier Kids Yes, I am implying that they can use elemental powers now, even in their human form. My theory is, they bonded so strongly and for so long with their respective spirits that they don't need the intermediary of the D-Scanner to digivolve anymore, and their human forms became equivalent of a "rookie" form- and yes, that means they're no longer fully human. Their powers are weak, but they're still superhuman. The rest of the Frontier kids, of course, are no different. Other spirits (Water, Wood, Steel and Earth) were not bonded with anyone and upon the end of Frontier, are scattered through the Digital world, waiting to be awakened. What caused this growth in power? The merging of the digital world and the human world caused the kids to merge with their spirits as well.
Takuya Long story short, he was attacked and saved at the last minute by Sensei Zhao, who agreed to train him because he knew about Digimon before. He is now in the business of saving other Tamers.
Izumi She transferred to a British school after the end of Frontier. Now her father has changed jobs again, she has to leave Japan (that's why she was angry at her mother). As someone who has lost enough friends through this way of life, she's sick of it.
Tomoki is on the bus somewhere, camping or something. He will play a role
Junpei will feature later.
Jenrya He has become so proficient that he no longer needs the tutelage of Sensei Zhao. He's almost 15.
Kouichi knew Jenrya because in my headcanon they went to the same school (the school in Tamers) and saw Jenrya carrying around that backpack
Yes, Kouichi, Kouji and Izumi are now tamers of the Celestial Digimon. Talk about drawing a winning lot as a tamer.
Ruki After Renamon left, she threw herself in her accomplishments. She eventually got involved with a youth orchestra, but could not secure the spot as the leader of the orchestra because of Mr. Ichikawa, aka the Gary Stu. Ichikawa will play a role in the future, albeit a minor one. She is, at this point, stressed to the point of breaking. Oh, and she has, at this point, realized that Izumi is her cousin (it will be explicitly told later). Much has been made of Ruki's Father. He will play a role.
Hirokazu and Kenta and their partners are dead. That's all.
Takato The lack of Guilmon is not an accident. This will be referenced later, and it will be tragic. Other than that, he's just in high school...
Juri Will not appear. She and Takato dated. It's now over.
Shuichon The lack of Antiramon is also not an accident, because
Antiramon kidnapped Ryo in the prologue and is working for the Holy Beasts once again, if it wasn't clear who that massive structure was. There's a purpose to this. And yes, Ryo will appear and play a major role.
Ryo As implied, Ryo here is a time traveler from the Adventure/02 universe and he's hella confused about who he is. His father is adoptive. One year after the end of events in Tamer, he became depressed and found himself no longer socializing with the rest of the kids, though he did miss them. He got into alcoholism and drinking and hooked up with a girl named Seiko, who is nothing but toxic for him. Ruki and Ryo, while they had feelings for each other, are no longer on speaking terms. Ruki called Ryo many times. She never received an answer.
Finally,
Kotemon is actually the Child form of Loadknightmon, the Royal Knight, the pink asshole we've seen in the latter part of the Frontier series. He has been reborn and saw the error of his ways and was trying to make up for all the harm he had inflicted. Needless to say, he died. I was going to reveal his identity in the future, but since it's unimportant and I wasn't sure people were going to remember Kotemon, so I might as well say it here.
