Chapter 12

A mission to undertake. Welcome to Kuoh.

Sigurd felt his eyes widened at what he just heard Shemhazai say. He was going on a mission to becoming friends with Devils?

What was Azazel thinking?

Why make him do this?

"You're facial expression tells me exactly what I need to say." Shemhazai said with a sigh, fingers still interlocked. "It's because Azazel feels Asgard should be the first to try making peace with the Devil's before Grigori dose. Yes Asgard is...resentful toward them for that Surtr clone, but you aren't full Asgardian. You are human who has the power of Thor, something both the Devils and Heaven do not know of yet still, which I am baffled about. But anyway, that is why we are choosing you. You are part Asgardian and do not hold resentment towards Devils."

Ah. So that explained it. It was because he didn't hold the grudge true Asgardians hold. That was understandable. While he didn't hate Devils, even if he killed them during his time with the Church. He nevertheless would be cautious around them. He heard of their atrocities from Frigg. Like the extinction of the Youkai, Nekoshou, desperate desire to obtain power no matter the cost, and possibly seducing or bribing him into joining their side.

Or that's what he heard from his mother and the Church. While he believed Frigg, he would not let the words of others make him believe Devil's are evil. He would judge them himself.

"That...and we fear something may have happened to one of our Fallen sent to the Devil occupied town."

"What?

Shemhazai sighed, "I should start from the beginning and not stall so here it goes: their is a boy Azazel discovered, his name is Issei Hyoudou, and is believed to have a powerful Sacred Gear. However, Azazel doesn't know what it is, but fears it could be dangerous to not only the boy, but the Devil's that control that town. So he ordered one of our subordinates, her names Raynare, to spy on him so that if his Gear dose awaken we can know about it. That had been a month ago and since then no word has come back from Raynare. We fear something may have happened either to her or the boy. We first tried sending a three-man recovery team but they didn't respond either. Azazel has two theories; either they were killed due to an accident...or they went rogue."

"Rogue! Again!? Oh Odin it better be the former... I'm tired of killing Fallen Angels!" Sigurd yelled.

"I understand your frustration over this, Sigurd. But if they have gone rogue, and I hope they haven't, then I, Vice Governor Shemhazai, order you to eliminate them. No matter how small their actions may be."

"...Are you sure? This may not sit well with Azazel or other Fallen."

"Maybe...but it will send a clear message to everyone in Grigori and the Devil's to know that we deal with our problems very seriously and to show our subordinates that any who wish to desert Grigori will meet the same fate as this group." The white haired Fallen said seriously.

"But so many Fallen Angel's already met death. How would this group be no different than the other ones?" Questioned Sigurd.

"The rogue Fallen incident ended last year, but it's still fresh in their memories. If this group thinks they can get away with being independent or cause trouble in Devil territory it will not go unpunished. Azazel or myself would see to this personally but our duties lay in leading the survivors into a new era of peace. Besides, these Fallen are all single winged. A god like you will have no trouble in dealing with them."

"Well then...I guess I know what I must do; make peace with the Devil and eliminate the Fallen Angel's if they have gone rogue."

"Correct. Also, please notify me of what those Fallen have done if they have broke away. Now onto where you'll be going. It's a little town in Japan called..."

"Kuoh!?"

"Yup."

"And you're leaving tomorrow!?"

"That is correct…"

"I'm going with you-"

"No."

"No!?"

"No."

"Why?"

Sigurd sighed at his girlfriends question. Why? The answer was obvious but if he had to explain it then so be it. "Because you're the bodyguard of Odin. You can't abandon your duty to go with me on a mission I was personally chosen to undertake."

Rossweisse stared at her boyfriend. He just got back and now was leaving to Japan to make peace with the Devils!? Was this fate's way of denying her love once more?

"But why you? Why can't someone else go? Do you even know who's in charge of that town?"

"Because unlike, Asgard, I don't hold any grudge against Devil's. As for who, yes I do. Rias Gremory, sister of the current Lucifer, heir of the Gremory family, and governor of Kuoh. Which she shares with her long time friend, Sona Sitri, sister of Leviathan, and also heir to her family."

"Two Satan siblings in one town!?" Rossweisse cried with worry. "Oh this was madness! Utter madness! How did the King and Queen take this news!? What's Azazel thinking by-

Her ranting was quickly silenced by a kiss from Sigurd. She immediately calmed down at his action.

"Love, darling, listen. My parents already know and while reluctant agreed to it. Everything will be alright. I am the God of Thunder after all. Two Satan siblings can't hold a candle to me. Besides I also need to see if Raynare has turned against us."

"Can't you just let the Devil's eliminate that Fallen?"

Sigurd shook his head, "I can't let that happen. When I asked that same question, Shemhazai said this is Grigori's responsibility to take care of, not Rias. Besides, she is a local governor, not a member of the Devil government and just because Rias Gremory and Sona Sitri are the sisters of the two Devil Kings does not mean they have the right to attack an enemy base, that is if Raynare has set up a base at all. As I said, they are governor's, not generals. Yes, spies and intruders are often killed in cold war situations, but not without direct orders or at least authorization from the government. Rias position in society is just heiress of the Gremory House, aside from being in charge of Kuoh. So she is not even that high of rank. All she's really known for is being related to Sirzechs. She is not even the actual head of a house yet even. If something were to happen, either by Raynare or Rias, it could reignite the war. That is why I, an allie of Grigori, is handling this. And who knows, maybe will finally have peace between our people because of this."

Rossweisse nodded slowly. She understood how this could prevent another war and bring peace but…

"I don't wanna be alone again…" She said sadly. Holding Sigurd closer, her grip never loosening. She wanted to stay like this with him till he left for Midgard. She didn't wanna watch him go again.

Sigurd stroked her silver hair. He wa going to miss her dearly but would make sure to always make time to talk to her when he could. Hopefully this mission would be quick and he could come back to Asgard and Rossweisse.

"Rose, you've made me so happy and help me become who I am now. I promise you...when I return...will go all the way."

"G...go all the way...oh my…Sigurd." Rossweisse stuttered, her aqua eyes widening in surprise while a red hue covered her cheeks. He said they would go all the way...he was planning to take her virginity. She always dreamt of making love with her boyfriend and once he came back she would finally do it. Oh she couldn't wait for that day.

"I must go to Kuoh. The longer I stay here, the longer I delay my search for what happened to Raynare. We will make love when I return Rose. You have my word. I gotta go...I'll call you as soon as I can."

He gave a long passionate kiss to Rossweisse who threw her arms around his neck and kiss him with all the love she had for him. They parted and inhaled deeply at the length of their kiss.

Rossweisse pressed her forehead against Sigurd's the love she felt for him radiating off her like the warmth of the sun. She would remember that kiss or this moment forever.

"I love you…

"I love you too…"

Sigurd entered the Bifrost chamber, Asgard's watcher standing where he always was. His gaze looking out to the Nine Realms.

"Are you sure you wish to do this?" The all seeing watcher asked.

"I have to Heimdall. I'm the only Asgard who doesn't hate Devils."

"But you do not trust them?"

"I don't." Sigurd admitted, "I don't hate them like Asgard dose but I don't trust them. Not until they've earned my trust."

"That's smart, boy. I should warn you. Once you enter Devil territory I cannot keep my watch over you."

Sigurd nodded. Heimdall was the protector of Asgard, not him. Suddenly something just clicked in the warriors brain.

"Wait a minute. If you can see everything, can't you just search for the Fallen Angel Raynare? You could find her location and send me right to where she is."

"I am not a radar for you use to find people you are looking for, Sigurd I know where she in that town but I will not say were. You must do this on your own. Besides, even if I did what you suggested, the Devils will think Asgard has come to assist the Fallen in an attempt to take over the town."

Oh...he forgot about that. If this was to work out then he'd have to teleport somewhere outside of the town and meet with Rias in person to explain the situation, which he hoped she would understand and not get involved in.

"Heimdall."

"This isn't goodbye, Sigurd. Only farewell for now." Heimdall said, showing one of his rare smiles.

Sigurd smiled back at Asgard's watcher. He was right, this wasn't goodbye, only farewell. He would return and see those he loved again. He stepped toward the edge of the Bifrost, read to go to Midgard and meet Rias Gremory.

"Wait!"

Sigurd looked over his shoulder and felt surprise fill him. Baraqiel was quickly making his way to him. What did the Cadre wish for him?

"Baraqiel?"

"I hear you are going to Midgard, Sigurd. Please take this and give it to the whose name is written on it."

He withdrew his arm hidden by the cloak to reveal an envelope in it, to which he handed to the Asgardian before leaving.

"Hey wait a minute! Baraqiel! Wait! Who's this for!?"

But the Fallen Angel kept walking. The questions asked by Sigurd were flat out ignored, prompting him to sigh. What the hell was that about? Who did Baraqiel know who lived in Kuoh? Was this to be delivered to Rias?

Sigurd looked at the envelope and saw a name written in gold letters on it.

Akeno Himejima.

Who was that? She was clearly Japanese by the sound of her name. What sorta of connection did she have with the Cadre? Was she a friend of his? A old lover? Did she know about the Supernatural world? Sigurd shook his head. He wouldn't get answered thinking about it. Once he got to Kuoh, speak to Rias, settle in, and find Raynare, he would look for this Akeno and give the envelope to her.

Storing the envelope into a pocket dimension, he signaled Heimdall that he was ready to go to Midgard and begin his mission.
